ੴ ਸਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਿਰਵੈਰੁ ਅਕਾਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਅਜੂਨੀ ਸੈਭੰ ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥ ik oankaar sat naam karataa purakh nirbhau niravair akaal moorat ajoonee saibhan gur prasaad | One Universal Creator God. ਭਾਂਡਾ ਧੋਇ ਬੈਸਿ ਧੂਪੁ ਦੇਵਹੁ ਤਉ ਦੂਧੈ ਕਉ ਜਾਵਹੁ ॥ bhaanddaa dhoe bais dhoop devahu tau doodhai kau jaavahu | Wash the vessel, sit down and anoint it with fragrance; then, go out and get the milk. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji

ਦੂਧੁ ਕਰਮ ਫੁਨਿ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਸਮਾਇਣੁ ਹੋਇ ਨਿਰਾਸ ਜਮਾਵਹੁ ॥੧॥ doodh karam fun surat samaaein hoe niraas jamaavahu |1| Add the rennet of clear consciousness to the milk of good deeds, and then, free of desire, let it curdle. ||1|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji

ਜਪਹੁ ਤ ਏਕੋ ਨਾਮਾ ॥ japahu ta eko naamaa | Chant the Name of the One Lord. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji

ਅਵਰਿ ਨਿਰਾਫਲ ਕਾਮਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ avar niraafal kaamaa |1| rahaau | All other actions are fruitless. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji

ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਈਟੀ ਹਾਥਿ ਕਰਹੁ ਫੁਨਿ ਨੇਤ੍ਰਉ ਨੀਦ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥ eihu man eettee haath karahu fun netrau need na aavai | Let your mind be the handles, and then churn it, without sleeping. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji

ਰਸਨਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਤਬ ਮਥੀਐ ਇਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪਾਵਹੁ ॥੨॥ rasanaa naam japahu tab matheeai in bidh amrit paavahu |2| If you chant the Naam, the Name of the Lord ,with your tongue, then the curd will be churned. In this way, the Ambrosial Nectar is obtained. ||2|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji

ਮਨੁ ਸੰਪਟੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਸਤ ਸਰਿ ਨਾਵਣੁ ਭਾਵਨ ਪਾਤੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਕਰੇ ॥ man sanpatt jit sat sar naavan bhaavan paatee tripat kare | Wash your mind in the pool of Truth, and let it be the vessel of the Lord; let this be your offering to please Him. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji

ਪੂਜਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਜੇ ਸੇਵੇ ਇਨੑ ਬਿਧਿ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਰਵਤੁ ਰਹੈ ॥੩॥ poojaa praan sevak je seve ina bidh saahib ravat rahai |3| That humble servant who dedicates and offers his life, and who serves in this way, remains absorbed in his Lord and Master. ||3|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji

ਕਹਦੇ ਕਹਹਿ ਕਹੇ ਕਹਿ ਜਾਵਹਿ ਤੁਮ ਸਰਿ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥ kahade kaheh kahe keh jaaveh tum sar avar na koee | The speakers speak and speak and speak, and then they depart. There is no other to compare to You. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji

ਭਗਤਿ ਹੀਣੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜਨੁ ਜੰਪੈ ਹਉ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਸਚਾ ਸੋਈ ॥੪॥੧॥ bhagat heen naanak jan janpai hau saalaahee sachaa soee |4|1| Servant Nanak, lacking devotion, humbly prays: may I sing the Praises of the True Lord. ||4||1|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥ ik oankaar satigur prasaad | One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru: - Guru Nanak Dev Ji

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਵਸੈ ਨ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਜਾਇ ॥ antar vasai na baahar jaae | Deep within the self, the Lord abides; do not go outside looking for Him. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਕਾਹੇ ਬਿਖੁ ਖਾਇ ॥੧॥ amrit chhodd kaahe bikh khaae |1| You have renounced the Ambrosial Nectar - why are you eating poison? ||1|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji

ਐਸਾ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ॥ aisaa giaan japahu man mere | Meditate on such spiritual wisdom, O my mind, - Guru Nanak Dev Ji

ਹੋਵਹੁ ਚਾਕਰ ਸਾਚੇ ਕੇਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ hovahu chaakar saache kere |1| rahaau | and become the slave of the True Lord. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji

ਗਿਆਨੁ ਧਿਆਨੁ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਈ ਰਵੈ ॥ giaan dhiaan sabh koee ravai | Everyone speaks of wisdom and meditation; - Guru Nanak Dev Ji

ਬਾਂਧਨਿ ਬਾਂਧਿਆ ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਭਵੈ ॥੨॥ baandhan baandhiaa sabh jag bhavai |2| but bound in bondage, the whole world is wandering around in confusion. ||2|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji

ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਚਾਕਰੁ ਹੋਇ ॥ sevaa kare su chaakar hoe | One who serves the Lord is His servant. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji

ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸੋਇ ॥੩॥ jal thal maheeal rav rahiaa soe |3| The Lord is pervading and permeating the water, the land, and the sky. ||3|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji

ਹਮ ਨਹੀ ਚੰਗੇ ਬੁਰਾ ਨਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥ ham nahee change buraa nahee koe | I am not good; no one is bad. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji

ਪ੍ਰਣਵਤਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਤਾਰੇ ਸੋਇ ॥੪॥੧॥੨॥ pranavat naanak taare soe |4|1|2| Prays Nanak, He alone saves us! ||4||1||2|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
