ਆਪੇ ਜਾਣੈ ਕਰੇ ਆਪਿ ਜਿਨਿ ਵਾੜੀ ਹੈ ਲਾਈ ॥੧॥ aape jaanai kare aap jin vaarree hai laaee |1| He Himself knows, and He Himself acts; He laid out the garden of the world. ||1|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਰਾਇਸਾ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਕਾ ਰਾਇਸਾ ਜਿਤੁ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ raaeisaa piaare kaa raaeisaa jit sadaa sukh hoee | rahaau | Savor the story, the story of the Beloved Lord, which brings a lasting peace. ||Pause|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਜਿਨਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਕੰਤੁ ਨ ਰਾਵਿਆ ਸਾ ਪਛੋ ਰੇ ਤਾਣੀ ॥ jin rang kant na raaviaa saa pachho re taanee | She who does not enjoy the Love of her Husband Lord, shall come to regret and repent in the end. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਹਾਥ ਪਛੋੜੈ ਸਿਰੁ ਧੁਣੈ ਜਬ ਰੈਣਿ ਵਿਹਾਣੀ ॥੨॥ haath pachhorrai sir dhunai jab rain vihaanee |2| She wrings her hands, and bangs her head, when the night of her life has passed away. ||2|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਪਛੋਤਾਵਾ ਨਾ ਮਿਲੈ ਜਬ ਚੂਕੈਗੀ ਸਾਰੀ ॥ pachhotaavaa naa milai jab chookaigee saaree | Nothing comes from repentance, when the game is already finished. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਤਾ ਫਿਰਿ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਰਾਵੀਐ ਜਬ ਆਵੈਗੀ ਵਾਰੀ ॥੩॥ taa fir piaaraa raaveeai jab aavaigee vaaree |3| She shall have the opportunity to enjoy her Beloved, only when her turn comes again. ||3|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਕੰਤੁ ਲੀਆ ਸੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਮੈ ਤੇ ਵਧਵੀ ਏਹ ॥ kant leea sohaaganee mai te vadhavee eh | The happy soul-bride attains her Husband Lord - she is so much better than I am. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਸੇ ਗੁਣ ਮੁਝੈ ਨ ਆਵਨੀ ਕੈ ਜੀ ਦੋਸੁ ਧਰੇਹ ॥੪॥ se gun mujhai na aavanee kai jee dos dhareh |4| I have none of her merits or virtues; whom should I blame? ||4|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਜਿਨੀ ਸਖੀ ਸਹੁ ਰਾਵਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਪੂਛਉਗੀ ਜਾਏ ॥ jinee sakhee sahu raaviaa tin poochhaugee jaae | I shall go and ask those sisters who have enjoyed their Husband Lord. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਪਾਇ ਲਗਉ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਉ ਲੇਉਗੀ ਪੰਥੁ ਬਤਾਏ ॥੫॥ paae lgau benatee krau leaugee panth bataae |5| I touch their feet, and ask them to show me the Path. ||5|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਹੁਕਮੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਭਉ ਚੰਦਨੁ ਲਾਵੈ ॥ hukam pachhaanai naanakaa bhau chandan laavai | She who understands the Hukam of His Command, O Nanak, applies the Fear of God as her sandalwood oil; - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਗੁਣ ਕਾਮਣ ਕਾਮਣਿ ਕਰੈ ਤਉ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਕਉ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੬॥ gun kaaman kaaman karai tau piaare kau paavai |6| she charms her Beloved with her virtue, and so obtains Him. ||6|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਜੋ ਦਿਲਿ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਸੁ ਮਿਲਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਕਹੀਐ ਰੇ ਸੋਈ ॥ jo dil miliaa su mil rahiaa miliaa kaheeai re soee | She who meets her Beloved in her heart, remains united with Him; this is truly called union. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਜੇ ਬਹੁਤੇਰਾ ਲੋਚੀਐ ਬਾਤੀ ਮੇਲੁ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥੭॥ je bahuteraa locheeai baatee mel na hoee |7| As much as she may long for Him, she shall not meet Him through mere words. ||7|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਧਾਤੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਫੁਨਿ ਧਾਤੁ ਕਉ ਲਿਵ ਲਿਵੈ ਕਉ ਧਾਵੈ ॥ dhaat milai fun dhaat kau liv livai kau dhaavai | As metal melts into metal again, so does love melt into love. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਜਾਣੀਐ ਤਉ ਅਨਭਉ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੮॥ gur parasaadee jaaneeai tau anbhau paavai |8| By Guru’s Grace, this understanding is obtained, and then, one obtains the Fearless Lord. ||8|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਪਾਨਾ ਵਾੜੀ ਹੋਇ ਘਰਿ ਖਰੁ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ॥ paanaa vaarree hoe ghar khar saar na jaanai | There may be an orchard of betel nut trees in the garden, but the donkey does not appreciate its value. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਰਸੀਆ ਹੋਵੈ ਮੁਸਕ ਕਾ ਤਬ ਫੂਲੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ॥੯॥ raseea hovai musak kaa tab fool pachhaanai |9| If someone savors a fragrance, then he can truly appreciate its flower. ||9|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਅਪਿਉ ਪੀਵੈ ਜੋ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ॥ apiau peevai jo naanakaa bhram bhram samaavai | One who drinks in the ambrosia, O Nanak, abandons his doubts and wanderings. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਸਹਜੇ ਸਹਜੇ ਮਿਲਿ ਰਹੈ ਅਮਰਾ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੧੦॥੧॥ sahaje sahaje mil rahai amaraa pad paavai |10|1| Easily and intuitively, he remains blended with the Lord, and obtains the immortal status. ||10||1|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji

ਹਰਿ ਕੀਆ ਕਥਾ ਕਹਾਣੀਆ ਗੁਰਿ ਮੀਤਿ ਸੁਣਾਈਆ ॥ har keea kathaa kahaaneea gur meet sunaaeea | The Guru, my friend, has told me the stories and the sermon of the Lord. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਗੁਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰ ਕਉ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈਆ ॥੧॥ balihaaree gur aapane gur kau bal jaaeea |1| I am a sacrifice to my Guru; to the Guru, I am a sacrifice. ||1|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਆਇ ਮਿਲੁ ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਆਇ ਮਿਲੁ ਤੂ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਕੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ aae mil gurasikh aae mil too mere guroo ke piaare | rahaau | Come, join with me, O Sikh of the Guru, come and join with me. You are my Guru’s Beloved. ||Pause|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਵਦੇ ਸੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੇ ਪਾਏ ॥ har ke gun har bhaavade se guroo te paae | The Glorious Praises of the Lord are pleasing to the Lord; I have obtained them from the Guru. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜਿਨ ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਘੁਮਿ ਘੁਮਿ ਜਾਏ ॥੨॥ jin gur kaa bhaanaa maniaa tin ghum ghum jaae |2| I am a sacrifice, a sacrifice to those who surrender to, and obey the Guru’s Will. ||2|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜਿਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ॥ jin satigur piaaraa dekhiaa tin kau hau vaaree | I am dedicated and devoted to those who gaze upon the Beloved True Guru. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜਿਨ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਚਾਕਰੀ ਤਿਨ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ॥੩॥ jin gur kee keetee chaakaree tin sad balihaaree |3| I am forever a sacrifice to those who perform service for the Guru. ||3|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੈ ਦੁਖ ਮੇਟਣਹਾਰਾ ॥ har har teraa naam hai dukh mettanahaaraa | Your Name, O Lord, Har, Har, is the Destroyer of sorrow. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੇ ਪਾਈਐ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਾ ॥੪॥ gur sevaa te paaeeai guramukh nisataaraa |4| Serving the Guru, it is obtained, and as Gurmukh, one is emancipated. ||4|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਦੇ ਤੇ ਜਨ ਪਰਵਾਨਾ ॥ jo har naam dhiaaeide te jan paravaanaa | Those humble beings who meditate on the Lord’s Name, are celebrated and acclaimed. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਤਿਨ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਵਾਰਿਆ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਕੁਰਬਾਨਾ ॥੫॥ tin vittahu naanak vaariaa sadaa sadaa kurabaanaa |5| Nanak is a sacrifice to them, forever and ever a devoted sacrifice. ||5|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਸਾ ਹਰਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵੈ ॥ saa har teree usatat hai jo har prabh bhaavai | O Lord, that alone is Praise to You, which is pleasing to Your Will, O Lord God. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜੋ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਸੇਵਦੇ ਤਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੬॥ jo guramukh piaaraa sevade tin har fal paavai |6| Those Gurmukhs, who serve their Beloved Lord, obtain Him as their reward. ||6|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜਿਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਤੀ ਪਿਰਹੜੀ ਤਿਨਾ ਜੀਅ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਨਾਲੇ ॥ jinaa har setee piraharree tinaa jeea prabh naale | Those who cherish love for the Lord, their souls are always with God. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਓਇ ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਜੀਵਦੇ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲੇ ॥੭॥ oe jap jap piaaraa jeevade har naam samaale |7| Chanting and meditating on their Beloved, they live in, and gather in, the Lord’s Name. ||7|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜਿਨ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਘੁਮਿ ਜਾਇਆ ॥ jin guramukh piaaraa seviaa tin kau ghum jaaeaa | I am a sacrifice to those Gurmukhs who serve their Beloved Lord. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਓਇ ਆਪਿ ਛੁਟੇ ਪਰਵਾਰ ਸਿਉ ਸਭੁ ਜਗਤੁ ਛਡਾਇਆ ॥੮॥ oe aap chhutte paravaar siau sabh jagat chhaddaaeaa |8| They themselves are saved, along with their families, and through them, all the world is saved. ||8|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਗੁਰਿ ਪਿਆਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਗੁਰੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਧੰਨੋ ॥ gur piaarai har seviaa gur dhan gur dhano | My Beloved Guru serves the Lord. Blessed is the Guru, Blessed is the Guru. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਗੁਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਦਸਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਵਡ ਪੁੰਨੋ ॥੯॥ gur har maarag dasiaa gur pun vadd puno |9| The Guru has shown me the Lord’s Path; the Guru has done the greatest good deed. ||9|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
