ਖੂਨ ਕੇ ਸੋਹਿਲੇ ਗਾਵੀਅਹਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਰਤੁ ਕਾ ਕੁੰਗੂ ਪਾਇ ਵੇ ਲਾਲੋ ॥੧॥ khoon ke sohile gaaveeeh naanak rat kaa kungoo paae ve laalo |1| The wedding songs of murder are sung, O Nanak, and blood is sprinkled instead of saffron, O Lalo. ||1|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਸਾਹਿਬ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਗਾਵੈ ਮਾਸ ਪੁਰੀ ਵਿਚਿ ਆਖੁ ਮਸੋਲਾ ॥ saahib ke gun naanak gaavai maas puree vich aakh masolaa | Nanak sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord and Master in the city of corpses, and voices this account. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਜਿਨਿ ਉਪਾਈ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਵਾਈ ਬੈਠਾ ਵੇਖੈ ਵਖਿ ਇਕੇਲਾ ॥ jin upaaee rang ravaaee baitthaa vekhai vakh ikelaa | The One who created, and attached the mortals to pleasures, sits alone, and watches this. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਸਚਾ ਸੋ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਚੁ ਤਪਾਵਸੁ ਸਚੜਾ ਨਿਆਉ ਕਰੇਗੁ ਮਸੋਲਾ ॥ sachaa so saahib sach tapaavas sacharraa niaau kareg masolaa | The Lord and Master is True, and True is His justice. He issues His Commands according to His judgement. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਕਾਇਆ ਕਪੜੁ ਟੁਕੁ ਟੁਕੁ ਹੋਸੀ ਹਿਦੁਸਤਾਨੁ ਸਮਾਲਸੀ ਬੋਲਾ ॥ kaaeaa kaparr ttuk ttuk hosee hidusataan samaalasee bolaa | The body-fabric will be torn apart into shreds, and then India will remember these words. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਆਵਨਿ ਅਠਤਰੈ ਜਾਨਿ ਸਤਾਨਵੈ ਹੋਰੁ ਭੀ ਉਠਸੀ ਮਰਦ ਕਾ ਚੇਲਾ ॥ aavan atthatarai jaan sataanavai hor bhee utthasee marad kaa chelaa | Coming in seventy-eight (1521 A.D.), they will depart in ninety-seven (1540 A.D.), and then another disciple of man will rise up. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਸਚ ਕੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਆਖੈ ਸਚੁ ਸੁਣਾਇਸੀ ਸਚ ਕੀ ਬੇਲਾ ॥੨॥੩॥੫॥ sach kee baanee naanak aakhai sach sunaaeisee sach kee belaa |2|3|5| Nanak speaks the Word of Truth; he proclaims the Truth at this, the right time. ||2||3||5|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji

ਸਭਿ ਆਏ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਖਸਮਾਹੁ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਸਭ ਵਰਤਨੀ ॥ sabh aae hukam khasamaahu hukam sabh varatanee | Everyone comes by Command of the Lord and Master. The Hukam of His Command extends to all. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਸਚੁ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਖੇਲੁ ਸਭੁ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੀ ॥੧॥ sach saahib saachaa khel sabh har dhanee |1| True is the Lord and Master, and True is His play. The Lord is the Master of all. ||1|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਸਾਲਾਹਿਹੁ ਸਚੁ ਸਭ ਊਪਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੀ ॥ saalaahihu sach sabh aoopar har dhanee | So praise the True Lord; the Lord is the Master over all. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਇ ਸਰੀਕੁ ਕਿਸੁ ਲੇਖੈ ਹਉ ਗਨੀ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ jis naahee koe sareek kis lekhai hau ganee | rahaau | No one is equal to Him; am I of any account? ||Pause|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਪਉਣ ਪਾਣੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਆਕਾਸੁ ਘਰ ਮੰਦਰ ਹਰਿ ਬਨੀ ॥ paun paanee dharatee aakaas ghar mandar har banee | Air, water, earth and sky - the Lord has made these His home and temple. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਵਿਚਿ ਵਰਤੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪਿ ਝੂਠੁ ਕਹੁ ਕਿਆ ਗਨੀ ॥੨॥੧॥ vich varatai naanak aap jhootth kahu kiaa ganee |2|1| He Himself is pervading everywhere, O Nanak. Tell me: what can be counted as false? ||2||1|| - Guru Ramdas Ji

ਨਿਤ ਨਿਹਫਲ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਇ ਬਫਾਵੈ ਦੁਰਮਤੀਆ ॥ nit nihafal karam kamaae bafaavai duramateea | The evil-minded person continually does fruitless deeds, all puffed up with pride. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜਬ ਆਣੈ ਵਲਵੰਚ ਕਰਿ ਝੂਠੁ ਤਬ ਜਾਣੈ ਜਗੁ ਜਿਤੀਆ ॥੧॥ jab aanai valavanch kar jhootth tab jaanai jag jiteea |1| When he brings home what he has acquired, by practicing deception and falsehood, he thinks that he has conquered the world. ||1|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਐਸਾ ਬਾਜੀ ਸੈਸਾਰੁ ਨ ਚੇਤੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ॥ aisaa baajee saisaar na chetai har naamaa | Such is the drama of the world, that he does not contemplate the Lord’s Name. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਸਭੁ ਝੂਠੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਧਿਆਇ ਰਾਮਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ khin meh binasai sabh jhootth mere man dhiaae raamaa | rahaau | In an instant, all this false play shall perish; O my mind, meditate on the Lord. ||Pause|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਸਾ ਵੇਲਾ ਚਿਤਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਜਿਤੁ ਆਇ ਕੰਟਕੁ ਕਾਲੁ ਗ੍ਰਸੈ ॥ saa velaa chit na aavai jit aae kanttak kaal grasai | He does not think of that time, when Death, the Torturer, shall come and seize him. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਤਿਸੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਲਏ ਛਡਾਇ ਜਿਸੁ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਵਸੈ ॥੨॥੨॥ tis naanak le chhaddaae jis kirapaa kar hiradai vasai |2|2| O Nanak, the Lord saves that one, within whose heart the Lord, in His Kind Mercy, dwells. ||2||2|| - Guru Ramdas Ji

ਖਾਕ ਨੂਰ ਕਰਦੰ ਆਲਮ ਦੁਨੀਆਇ ॥ khaak noor karadan aalam duneeae | The Lord infused His Light into the dust, and created the world, the universe. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਅਸਮਾਨ ਜਿਮੀ ਦਰਖਤ ਆਬ ਪੈਦਾਇਸਿ ਖੁਦਾਇ ॥੧॥ asamaan jimee darakhat aab paidaaeis khudaae |1| The sky, the earth, the trees, and the water - all are the Creation of the Lord. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬੰਦੇ ਚਸਮ ਦੀਦੰ ਫਨਾਇ ॥ bande chasam deedan fanaae | O human being, whatever you can see with your eyes, shall perish. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਦੁਨਂੀਆ ਮੁਰਦਾਰ ਖੁਰਦਨੀ ਗਾਫਲ ਹਵਾਇ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ dunaneea muradaar khuradanee gaafal havaae | rahaau | The world eats dead carcasses, living by neglect and greed. ||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗੈਬਾਨ ਹੈਵਾਨ ਹਰਾਮ ਕੁਸਤਨੀ ਮੁਰਦਾਰ ਬਖੋਰਾਇ ॥ gaibaan haivaan haraam kusatanee muradaar bakhoraae | Like a goblin, or a beast, they kill and eat the forbidden carcasses of meat. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਦਿਲ ਕਬਜ ਕਬਜਾ ਕਾਦਰੋ ਦੋਜਕ ਸਜਾਇ ॥੨॥ dil kabaj kabajaa kaadaro dojak sajaae |2| So control your urges, or else you will be seized by the Lord, and thrown into the tortures of hell. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਵਲੀ ਨਿਆਮਤਿ ਬਿਰਾਦਰਾ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਮਿਲਕ ਖਾਨਾਇ ॥ valee niaamat biraadaraa darabaar milak khaanaae | Your benefactors, presents, companions, courts, lands and homes - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਬ ਅਜਰਾਈਲੁ ਬਸਤਨੀ ਤਬ ਚਿ ਕਾਰੇ ਬਿਦਾਇ ॥੩॥ jab ajaraaeel basatanee tab chi kaare bidaae |3|
- when Azraa-eel, the Messenger of Death seizes you, what good will these be to you then? ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਵਾਲ ਮਾਲੂਮੁ ਕਰਦੰ ਪਾਕ ਅਲਾਹ ॥ havaal maaloom karadan paak alaah | The Pure Lord God knows your condition. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬੁਗੋ ਨਾਨਕ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ਪੇਸਿ ਦਰਵੇਸ ਬੰਦਾਹ ॥੪॥੧॥ bugo naanak aradaas pes daraves bandaah |4|1| O Nanak, recite your prayer to the holy people. ||4||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਤੁਧੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥ tudh bin doojaa naahee koe | There is no other than You, Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤੂ ਕਰਤਾਰੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਸੋ ਹੋਇ ॥ too karataar kareh so hoe | You are the Creator; whatever You do, that alone happens. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤੇਰਾ ਜੋਰੁ ਤੇਰੀ ਮਨਿ ਟੇਕ ॥ teraa jor teree man ttek | You are the strength, and You are the support of the mind. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਜਪਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਏਕ ॥੧॥ sadaa sadaa jap naanak ek |1| Forever and ever, meditate, O Nanak, on the One. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਭ ਊਪਰਿ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਦਾਤਾਰੁ ॥ sabh aoopar paarabraham daataar | The Great Giver is the Supreme Lord God over all. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
