ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸਹਜ ਸੂਖ ਮਨਿ ਉਪਜਿਓ ਕੋਟਿ ਸੂਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਰਗਾਸ ॥੨॥੫॥੨੪॥ saant sehaj sookh man upajio kott soor naanak paragaas |2|5|24| Peace and tranquility, poise and pleasure, have welled up within my mind; millions of suns, O Nanak, illuminate me. ||2||5||24|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਜੀਅ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਮਾਨ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਮਨ ਕੋ ਭਾਵਨ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ jeea praan maan sukhadaataa antarajaamee man ko bhaavan | rahaau | He is the soul, the breath of life, the Giver of peace and honor, the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts; He is pleasing to my mind. ||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੁੰਦਰੁ ਸੁਘੜੁ ਚਤੁਰੁ ਸਭ ਬੇਤਾ ਰਿਦ ਦਾਸ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਭਗਤ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵਨ ॥ sundar sugharr chatur sabh betaa rid daas nivaas bhagat gun gaavan | He is beautiful and wise, clever and all-knowing. He dwells within the hearts of His slaves; His devotees sing His Glorious Praises. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਰੂਪ ਅਨੂਪ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਕਰਮ ਭੂਮਿ ਬੀਜਨ ਸੋ ਖਾਵਨ ॥੧॥ niramal roop anoop suaamee karam bhoom beejan so khaavan |1| His form is immaculate and pure; He is the incomparable Lord and Master. Upon the field of actions and karma, whatever one plants, one eats. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬਿਸਮਨ ਬਿਸਮ ਭਏ ਬਿਸਮਾਦਾ ਆਨ ਨ ਬੀਓ ਦੂਸਰ ਲਾਵਨ ॥ bisaman bisam bhe bisamaadaa aan na beeo doosar laavan | I am amazed, and wonder-struck by His wonder. There is none other than Him. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਰਸਨਾ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਜੀਵਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਸਦਾ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਵਨ ॥੨॥੬॥੨੫॥ rasanaa simar simar jas jeevaa naanak daas sadaa bal jaavan |2|6|25| Meditating in remembrance on His Praises with my tongue, I live; slave Nanak is forever a sacrifice to Him. ||2||6||25|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਮਾਈ ਮਾਇਆ ਛਲੁ ॥ maaee maaeaa chhal | O my mother, Maya is so misleading and deceptive. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤ੍ਰਿਣ ਕੀ ਅਗਨਿ ਮੇਘ ਕੀ ਛਾਇਆ ਗੋਬਿਦ ਭਜਨ ਬਿਨੁ ਹੜ ਕਾ ਜਲੁ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ trin kee agan megh kee chhaaeaa gobid bhajan bin harr kaa jal | rahaau | Without meditating on the Lord of the Universe, it is like straw on fire, or the shadow of a cloud, or the running of the flood-waters. ||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਛੋਡਿ ਸਿਆਨਪ ਬਹੁ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ਦੁਇ ਕਰ ਜੋੜਿ ਸਾਧ ਮਗਿ ਚਲੁ ॥ chhodd siaanap bahu chaturaaee due kar jorr saadh mag chal | Renounce your cleverness and all your mental tricks; with your palms pressed together, walk on the Path of the Holy Saints. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਮਾਨੁਖ ਦੇਹ ਕਾ ਇਹੁ ਊਤਮ ਫਲੁ ॥੧॥ simar suaamee antarajaamee maanukh deh kaa ihu aootam fal |1| Remember the Lord, the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts; this is the most sublime reward of this human incarnation. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬੇਦ ਬਖਿਆਨ ਕਰਤ ਸਾਧੂ ਜਨ ਭਾਗਹੀਨ ਸਮਝਤ ਨਹੀ ਖਲੁ ॥ bed bakhiaan karat saadhoo jan bhaagaheen samajhat nahee khal | The Holy Saints preach the teachings of the Vedas, but the unfortunate fools do not understand them. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਭਗਤਿ ਰਾਚੇ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਦਹਨ ਭਏ ਮਲ ॥੨॥੭॥੨੬॥ prem bhagat raache jan naanak har simaran dehan bhe mal |2|7|26| Servant Nanak is absorbed in loving devotional worship; meditating in remembrance on the Lord, one’s dirt is burnt away. ||2||7||26|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਵਡੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਦੇਵੈ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਕੋਟਿ ਫਲਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਗੁਰ ਡੀਠੇ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ vaddai bhaag devai paramesar kott falaa darasan gur ddeetthe | rahaau | By great good fortune, the Transcendent Lord has blessed me with them. Millions of rewards come from the Blessed Vision of the Guru’s Darshan. ||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵਤ ਅਚੁਤ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਮਦ ਢੀਠੇ ॥ gun gaavat achut abinaasee kaam krodh binase mad dteetthe | Singing the Glorious Praises of the imperishable, indestructible Lord, sexual desire, anger and stubborn pride vanish. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਅਸਥਿਰ ਭਏ ਸਾਚ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਬਾਹੁਰਿ ਨਹੀ ਪੀਠੇ ॥੧॥ asathir bhe saach rang raate janam maran baahur nahee peetthe |1| Those who are imbued with the Love of the True Lord become permanent and eternal; birth and death do not grind them down any more. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਭਜਨ ਰੰਗ ਰਸ ਜੇਤੇ ਸੰਤ ਦਇਆਲ ਜਾਨੇ ਸਭਿ ਝੂਠੇ ॥ bin har bhajan rang ras jete sant deaal jaane sabh jhootthe | Without the Lord’s meditation, all joys and pleasures are totally false and worthless; by the Kind Mercy of the Saints, I know this. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਮ ਰਤਨੁ ਪਾਇਓ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਹੂਨ ਚਲੇ ਸਭਿ ਮੂਠੇ ॥੨॥੮॥੨੭॥ naam ratan paaeo jan naanak naam bihoon chale sabh mootthe |2|8|27| Servant Nanak has found the jewel of the Naam; without the Naam, all must depart, cheated and plundered. ||2||8||27|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਸਹਜਿ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਅੰਕੁਰੁ ਭਲੋ ਹਮਾਰਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ sehaj anand hovai din raatee ankur bhalo hamaaraa | rahaau | I am in peaceful poise and bliss, day and night; the seed of my destiny has sprouted. ||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਬਡਭਾਗੀ ਜਾ ਕੋ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਰਾਵਾਰਾ ॥ gur pooraa bhettio baddabhaagee jaa ko ant na paaraavaaraa | I have met the True Guru, by great good fortune; He has no end or limitation. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਰੁ ਗਹਿ ਕਾਢਿ ਲੀਓ ਜਨੁ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਬਿਖੁ ਸਾਗਰ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ kar geh kaadt leeo jan apunaa bikh saagar sansaaraa |1| Taking His humble servant by the hand, He pulls him out of the poisonous world-ocean. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਕਾਟੇ ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨੀ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਨ ਸੰਕਟ ਦੁਆਰਾ ॥ janam maran kaatte gur bachanee bahurr na sankatt duaaraa | Birth and death are ended for me, by the Word of the Guru’s Teachings; I shall no longer pass through the door of pain and suffering. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਨਿ ਗਹੀ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਕੀ ਪੁਨਹ ਪੁਨਹ ਨਮਸਕਾਰਾ ॥੨॥੯॥੨੮॥ naanak saran gahee suaamee kee punah punah namasakaaraa |2|9|28| Nanak holds tight to the Sanctuary of his Lord and Master; again and again, he bows in humility and reverence to Him. ||2||9||28|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਕੋਟਿ ਅਨੰਦ ਰਾਜ ਸੁਖੁ ਭੁਗਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਸਭ ਦੁਖੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ kott anand raaj sukh bhugavai har simarat binasai sabh dukh |1| rahaau | I enjoy the ecstasy of millions of princely pleasures; remembering the Lord in meditation, all pains have been dispelled. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕੋਟਿ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਨਾਸਹਿ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਪਾਵਨ ਤਨ ਮਨ ਸੁਖ ॥ kott janam ke kilabikh naaseh simarat paavan tan man sukh | The sins of millions of lifetimes are erased, by meditating on the Lord; becoming pure, my mind and body have found peace. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਦੇਖਿ ਸਰੂਪੁ ਪੂਰਨੁ ਭਈ ਆਸਾ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਭੇਟਤ ਉਤਰੀ ਭੁਖ ॥੧॥ dekh saroop pooran bhee aasaa darasan bhettat utaree bhukh |1| Gazing upon the Lord’s form of perfect beauty, my hopes have been fulfilled; attaining the Blessed Vision of His Darshan, my hunger has been appeased. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਚਾਰਿ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਅਸਟ ਮਹਾ ਸਿਧਿ ਕਾਮਧੇਨੁ ਪਾਰਜਾਤ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਰੁਖੁ ॥ chaar padaarath asatt mahaa sidh kaamadhen paarajaat har har rukh | The four great blessings, the eight supernatural spiritual powers of the Siddhas, the wish-fulfilling Elysian cow, and the wish-fulfilling tree of life - all these come from the Lord, Har, Har. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਨਿ ਗਹੀ ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਫਿਰਿ ਗਰਭ ਨ ਧੁਖੁ ॥੨॥੧੦॥੨੯॥ naanak saran gahee sukh saagar janam maran fir garabh na dhukh |2|10|29| O Nanak, holding tight to the Sanctuary of the Lord, the ocean of peace, you shall not suffer the pains of birth and death, or fall into the womb of reincarnation again. ||2||10||29|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
