ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਸੰਗਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਮਨਿ ਲਾਗੀ ਸੁਰਿ ਜਨ ਮਿਲੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥ charan kamal sang preet man laagee sur jan mile piaare | My mind is in love with the Lord’s lotus feet; I have met the Beloved Guru, the noble, heroic being. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਅਨਦ ਕਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਸਗਲੇ ਰੋਗ ਨਿਵਾਰੇ ॥੨॥੧੦॥੧੫॥ naanak anad kare har jap jap sagale rog nivaare |2|10|15| Nanak celebrates in bliss; chanting and meditating on the Lord, all sickness has been cured. ||2||10||15|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਹਾਂ ਹਾਂ ਲਪਟਿਓ ਰੇ ਮੂੜੑੇ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਥੋਰੀ ॥ haan haan lapattio re moorrae kachhoo na thoree | Oh! Oh! You cling to Maya, you fool; this is not a trivial matter. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤੇਰੋ ਨਹੀ ਸੁ ਜਾਨੀ ਮੋਰੀ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ tero nahee su jaanee moree | rahaau | That which you consider to be yours, is not yours. ||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਆਪਨ ਰਾਮੁ ਨ ਚੀਨੋ ਖਿਨੂਆ ॥ aapan raam na cheeno khinooaa | You do not remember your Lord, even for an instant. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜੋ ਪਰਾਈ ਸੁ ਅਪਨੀ ਮਨੂਆ ॥੧॥ jo paraaee su apanee manooaa |1| That which belongs to others, you believe to be your own. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਮੁ ਸੰਗੀ ਸੋ ਮਨਿ ਨ ਬਸਾਇਓ ॥ naam sangee so man na basaaeo | The Naam, the Name of the Lord, is always with you, but you do not enshrine it within your mind. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਛੋਡਿ ਜਾਹਿ ਵਾਹੂ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇਓ ॥੨॥ chhodd jaeh vaahoo chit laaeo |2| You have attached your consciousness to that which you must eventually abandon. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੋ ਸੰਚਿਓ ਜਿਤੁ ਭੂਖ ਤਿਸਾਇਓ ॥ so sanchio jit bhookh tisaaeo | You collect that which will bring you only hunger and thirst. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਤੋਸਾ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਇਓ ॥੩॥ amrit naam tosaa nahee paaeo |3| You have not obtained the supplies of the Ambrosial Naam. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਿ ਮੋਹ ਕੂਪਿ ਪਰਿਆ ॥ kaam krodh moh koop pariaa | You have fallen into the pit of sexual desire, anger and emotional attachment. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੋ ਤਰਿਆ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੬॥ gur prasaad naanak ko tariaa |4|1|16| By Guru’s Grace, O Nanak, a rare few are saved. ||4||1||16|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਆਨ ਅਵਰ ਸਿਞਾਣਿ ਨ ਕਰੀ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ aan avar siyaan na karee | rahaau | I do not recognize any other. ||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਵਡੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਪਾਇਓ ॥ vaddai bhaag gur apunaa paaeo | By great good fortune, I have found my Guru. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗੁਰਿ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਓ ॥੧॥ gur mo kau har naam drirraaeo |1| The Guru has implanted the Name of the Lord within me. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਪ ਤਾਪ ਬ੍ਰਤ ਨੇਮਾ ॥ har har jaap taap brat nemaa | The Name of the Lord, Har, Har, is my meditation, austerity, fasting and daily religious practice. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇ ਕੁਸਲ ਸਭਿ ਖੇਮਾ ॥੨॥ har har dhiaae kusal sabh khemaa |2| Meditating on the Lord, Har, Har, I have found total joy and bliss. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਆਚਾਰ ਬਿਉਹਾਰ ਜਾਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨੀਆ ॥ aachaar biauhaar jaat har guneea | The Praises of the Lord are my good conduct, occupation and social class. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮਹਾ ਅਨੰਦ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਹਰਿ ਸੁਨੀਆ ॥੩॥ mahaa anand keeratan har suneea |3| Listening to the Kirtan of the Lord’s Praises, I am in absolute ecstasy. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਨਿ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ kahu naanak jin tthaakur paaeaa | Says Nanak, everything comes to the homes - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਤਿਸ ਕੇ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਮਹਿ ਆਇਆ ॥੪॥੨॥੧੭॥ sabh kichh tis ke grih meh aaeaa |4|2|17| Of those who have found their Lord and Master. ||4||2||17|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਗਾਲੀ ਹਰਿ ਨੀਹੁ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ gaalee har neehu na hoe | rahaau | By mere words, the Lord’s Love does not come. ||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਉ ਢੂਢੇਦੀ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਾਰਣਿ ਬੀਥੀ ਬੀਥੀ ਪੇਖਾ ॥ hau dtoodtedee darasan kaaran beethee beethee pekhaa | I have searched for the Blessed Vision of His Darshan, looking in each and every street. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਭਰਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ਹੇ ॥੧॥ gur mil bharam gavaaeaa he |1| Meeting with the Guru, my doubts have been dispelled. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਇਹ ਬੁਧਿ ਪਾਈ ਮੈ ਸਾਧੂ ਕੰਨਹੁ ਲੇਖੁ ਲਿਖਿਓ ਧੁਰਿ ਮਾਥੈ ॥ eih budh paaee mai saadhoo kanahu lekh likhio dhur maathai | I have obtained this wisdom from the Holy Saints, according to the pre-ordained destiny inscribed upon my forehead. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਇਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਨੈਣ ਅਲੋਇ ॥੨॥੧॥੧੮॥ eih bidh naanak har nain aloe |2|1|18| In this way, Nanak has seen the Lord with his eyes. ||2||1||18|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਹੀਓ ਮਹਰਾਜ ਰੀ ਮਾਇਓ ॥ heeo maharaaj ree maaeo | By the Will of my Lord God, Maya, - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਡੀਹਰ ਨਿਆਈ ਮੋਹਿ ਫਾਕਿਓ ਰੇ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ddeehar niaaee mohi faakio re | rahaau | Like a witch, has swallowed my soul. ||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਘਣੋ ਘਣੋ ਘਣੋ ਸਦ ਲੋੜੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਲਹਣੇ ਕੈਠੈ ਪਾਇਓ ਰੇ ॥ ghano ghano ghano sad lorrai bin lahane kaitthai paaeo re | More and more, he continually yearns for more; but unless he is destined to receive, how can he obtain it? - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮਹਰਾਜ ਰੋ ਗਾਥੁ ਵਾਹੂ ਸਿਉ ਲੁਭੜਿਓ ਨਿਹਭਾਗੜੋ ਭਾਹਿ ਸੰਜੋਇਓ ਰੇ ॥੧॥ maharaaj ro gaath vaahoo siau lubharrio nihabhaagarro bhaeh sanjoeo re |1| He is entangled in wealth, bestowed by the Lord God; the unfortunate one attaches himself to the fire of desires. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੁਣਿ ਮਨ ਸੀਖ ਸਾਧੂ ਜਨ ਸਗਲੋ ਥਾਰੇ ਸਗਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਛਤ ਮਿਟਿਓ ਰੇ ॥ sun man seekh saadhoo jan sagalo thaare sagale praachhat mittio re | Listen, O mind, to the Teachings of the Holy Saints, and all your sins shall be totally washed away. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਾ ਕੋ ਲਹਣੋ ਮਹਰਾਜ ਰੀ ਗਾਠੜੀਓ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਗਰਭਾਸਿ ਨ ਪਉੜਿਓ ਰੇ ॥੨॥੨॥੧੯॥ jaa ko lahano maharaaj ree gaattharreeo jan naanak garabhaas na paurrio re |2|2|19| One who is destined to receive from the Lord, O servant Nanak, shall not be cast into the womb of reincarnation again. ||2||2||19|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
