ਹੋਇ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਸਰੀਰੁ ਚਰਨਾ ਧੂਰੀਐ ॥ hoe pavitr sareer charanaa dhooreeai | By body is sanctified, by the dust of Your feet. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਸਦਾ ਹਜੂਰੀਐ ॥੧੩॥ paarabraham guradev sadaa hajooreeai |13| O Supreme Lord God, Divine Guru, You are always with me, ever-present. ||13|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਰਸਨਾ ਉਚਰੰਤਿ ਨਾਮੰ ਸ੍ਰਵਣੰ ਸੁਨੰਤਿ ਸਬਦ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਹ ॥ rasanaa ucharant naaman sravanan sunant sabad amritah | With my tongue, I chant the Lord’s Name; with my ears, I listen to the Ambrosial Word of His Shabad. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੰ ਜਿਨਾ ਧਿਆਨੁ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮਣਹ ॥੧॥ naanak tin sad balihaaran jinaa dhiaan paarabrahamanah |1| Nanak is forever a sacrifice to those who meditate on the Supreme Lord God. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਭਿ ਕੂੜਾਵੇ ਕੰਮ ਇਕਸੁ ਸਾਈ ਬਾਹਰੇ ॥ habh koorraave kam ikas saaee baahare | All concerns are false, except those of the One Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੇਈ ਧੰਨੁ ਜਿਨਾ ਪਿਰਹੜੀ ਸਚ ਸਿਉ ॥੨॥ naanak seee dhan jinaa piraharree sach siau |2| O Nanak, blessed are those, who are in love with their True Lord. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਤਿਨਾ ਜਿ ਸੁਨਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਕਥਾ ॥ sad balihaaree tinaa ji sunate har kathaa | I am forever a sacrifice to those who listen to the sermon of the Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪੂਰੇ ਤੇ ਪਰਧਾਨ ਨਿਵਾਵਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮਥਾ ॥ poore te paradhaan nivaaveh prabh mathaa | Those who bow their heads before God are perfect and distinguished. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਲਿਖਹਿ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਸੋਹਹਿ ਸੇ ਹਥਾ ॥ har jas likheh beant soheh se hathaa | Those hands, which write the Praises of the infinite Lord are beautiful. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਚਰਨ ਪੁਨੀਤ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਚਾਲਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪਥਾ ॥ charan puneet pavitr chaaleh prabh pathaa | Those feet which walk on God’s Path are pure and holy. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੰਤਾਂ ਸੰਗਿ ਉਧਾਰੁ ਸਗਲਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਲਥਾ ॥੧੪॥ santaan sang udhaar sagalaa dukh lathaa |14| In the Society of the Saints, they are emancipated; all their sorrows depart. ||14|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਭਾਵੀ ਉਦੋਤ ਕਰਣੰ ਹਰਿ ਰਮਣੰ ਸੰਜੋਗ ਪੂਰਨਹ ॥ bhaavee udot karanan har ramanan sanjog pooranah | One’s destiny is activated, when one chants the Lord’s Name, through perfect good fortune. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗੋਪਾਲ ਦਰਸ ਭੇਟੰ ਸਫਲ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਮਹੂਰਤਹ ॥੧॥ gopaal daras bhettan safal naanak so mahooratah |1| Fruitful is that moment, O Nanak, when one obtains the Blessed Vision of the Darshan of the Lord of the Universe. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕੀਮ ਨ ਸਕਾ ਪਾਇ ਸੁਖ ਮਿਤੀ ਹੂ ਬਾਹਰੇ ॥ keem na sakaa paae sukh mitee hoo baahare | Its value cannot be estimated; it brings peace beyond measure. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾ ਵੇਲੜੀ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਮਿਲੰਦੜੋ ਮਾ ਪਿਰੀ ॥੨॥ naanak saa velarree paravaan jit milandarro maa piree |2| O Nanak, that time alone is approved, when my Beloved meets with me. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਸਾ ਵੇਲਾ ਕਹੁ ਕਉਣੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਤੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਉ ਪਾਈ ॥ saa velaa kahu kaun hai jit prabh kau paaee | Tell me, what is that time, when I shall find God? - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੋ ਮੂਰਤੁ ਭਲਾ ਸੰਜੋਗੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਤੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਗੁਸਾਈ ॥ so moorat bhalaa sanjog hai jit milai gusaaee | Blessed and auspicious is that moment, and that destiny, when I shall find the Lord of the Universe. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇ ਕੈ ਮਨ ਇਛ ਪੁਜਾਈ ॥ aatth pehar har dhiaae kai man ichh pujaaee | Meditating on the Lord, twenty-four hours a day, my mind’s desires are fulfilled. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਵਡੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਸਤਸੰਗੁ ਹੋਇ ਨਿਵਿ ਲਾਗਾ ਪਾਈ ॥ vaddai bhaag satasang hoe niv laagaa paaee | By great good fortune, I have found the Society of the Saints; I bow and touch their feet. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮਨਿ ਦਰਸਨ ਕੀ ਪਿਆਸ ਹੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈ ॥੧੫॥ man darasan kee piaas hai naanak bal jaaee |15| My mind thirsts for the Blessed Vision of the Lord’s Darshan; Nanak is a sacrifice to Him. ||15|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਪਤਿਤ ਪੁਨੀਤ ਗੋਬਿੰਦਹ ਸਰਬ ਦੋਖ ਨਿਵਾਰਣਹ ॥ patit puneet gobindah sarab dokh nivaaranah | The Lord of the Universe is the Purifier of sinners; He is the Dispeller of all distress. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਰਣਿ ਸੂਰ ਭਗਵਾਨਹ ਜਪੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰੇ ॥੧॥ saran soor bhagavaanah japant naanak har har hare |1| The Lord God is Mighty, giving His Protective Sanctuary; Nanak chants the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਛਡਿਓ ਹਭੁ ਆਪੁ ਲਗੜੋ ਚਰਣਾ ਪਾਸਿ ॥ chhaddio habh aap lagarro charanaa paas | Renouncing all self-conceit, I hold tight to the Lord’s Feet. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਠੜੋ ਦੁਖ ਤਾਪੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪੇਖੰਦਿਆ ॥੨॥ nattharro dukh taap naanak prabh pekhandiaa |2| My sorrows and troubles have departed, O Nanak, beholding God. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਮੇਲਿ ਲੈਹੁ ਦਇਆਲ ਢਹਿ ਪਏ ਦੁਆਰਿਆ ॥ mel laihu deaal dteh pe duaariaa | Unite with me, O Merciful Lord; I have fallen at Your Door. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਰਖਿ ਲੇਵਹੁ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਭ੍ਰਮਤ ਬਹੁ ਹਾਰਿਆ ॥ rakh levahu deen deaal bhramat bahu haariaa | O Merciful to the meek, save me. I have wandered enough; now I am tired. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਭਗਤਿ ਵਛਲੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਬਿਰਦੁ ਹਰਿ ਪਤਿਤ ਉਧਾਰਿਆ ॥ bhagat vachhal teraa birad har patit udhaariaa | It is Your very nature to love Your devotees, and save sinners. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਇ ਬਿਨਉ ਮੋਹਿ ਸਾਰਿਆ ॥ tujh bin naahee koe binau mohi saariaa | Without You, there is no other at all; I offer this prayer to You. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਰੁ ਗਹਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਦਇਆਲ ਸਾਗਰ ਸੰਸਾਰਿਆ ॥੧੬॥ kar geh lehu deaal saagar sansaariaa |16| Take me by the hand, O Merciful Lord, and carry me across the world-ocean. ||16|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਸੰਤ ਉਧਰਣ ਦਇਆਲੰ ਆਸਰੰ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਕੀਰਤਨਹ ॥ sant udharan deaalan aasaran gopaal keeratanah | The Merciful Lord is the Savior of the Saints; their only support is to sing the Kirtan of the Lord’s Praises. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਿਰਮਲੰ ਸੰਤ ਸੰਗੇਣ ਓਟ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰਹ ॥੧॥ niramalan sant sangen ott naanak paramesurah |1| One becomes immaculate and pure, by associating with the Saints, O Nanak, and taking the Protection of the Transcendent Lord. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਚੰਦਨ ਚੰਦੁ ਨ ਸਰਦ ਰੁਤਿ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਮਿਟਈ ਘਾਂਮ ॥ chandan chand na sarad rut mool na mittee ghaam | The burning of the heart is not dispelled at all, by sandalwood paste, the moon, or the cold season. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੀਤਲੁ ਥੀਵੈ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਜਪੰਦੜੋ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ॥੨॥ seetal theevai naanakaa japandarro har naam |2| It only becomes cool, O Nanak, by chanting the Name of the Lord. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਕੀ ਓਟ ਉਧਰੇ ਸਗਲ ਜਨ ॥ charan kamal kee ott udhare sagal jan | Through the Protection and Support of the Lord’s lotus feet, all beings are saved. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੁਣਿ ਪਰਤਾਪੁ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਭਏ ਮਨ ॥ sun parataap govind nirbhau bhe man | Hearing of the Glory of the Lord of the Universe, the mind becomes fearless. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤੋਟਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਮੂਲਿ ਸੰਚਿਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਨ ॥ tott na aavai mool sanchiaa naam dhan | Nothing at all is lacking, when one gathers the wealth of the Naam. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਸਿਉ ਸੰਗੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਵਡੈ ਪੁਨ ॥ sant janaa siau sang paaeeai vaddai pun | The Society of the Saints is obtained, by very good deeds. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਨਿਤ ਸੁਨ ॥੧੭॥ aatth pehar har dhiaae har jas nit sun |17| Twenty-four hours a day, meditate on the Lord, and listen continually to the Lord’s Praises. ||17|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਦਇਆਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਭਗਵਾਨਹ ਨਾਨਕ ਲਿਪਤ ਨ ਮਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ deaal purakh bhagavaanah naanak lipat na maaeaa |1| When the Lord God shows His Kindness, O Nanak, one is no longer engrossed in Maya. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
