ਮੇਰੈ ਹੀਅਰੈ ਰਤਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਬਸਿਆ ਗੁਰਿ ਹਾਥੁ ਧਰਿਓ ਮੇਰੈ ਮਾਥਾ ॥ merai heearai ratan naam har basiaa gur haath dhario merai maathaa | The Jewel of the Lord’s Name abides within my heart; the Guru has placed His hand on my forehead. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਦੁਖ ਉਤਰੇ ਗੁਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੀਓ ਰਿਨੁ ਲਾਥਾ ॥੧॥ janam janam ke kilabikh dukh utare gur naam deeo rin laathaa |1| The sins and pains of countless incarnations have been cast out. The Guru has blessed me with the Naam, the Name of the Lord, and my debt has been paid off. ||1|| - Guru Ramdas Ji

ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਆ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਜੀਵਨੁ ਬਿਰਥਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ gur poorai har naam drirraaeaa bin naavai jeevan birathaa | rahaau | The Perfect Guru has implanted the Lord’s Name within me; without the Name, life is useless. ||Pause|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਮੂੜ ਭਏ ਹੈ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਮੋਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਨਿਤ ਫਾਥਾ ॥ bin gur moorr bhe hai manamukh te moh maaeaa nit faathaa | Without the Guru, the self-willed manmukhs are foolish and ignorant; they are forever entangled in emotional attachment to Maya. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਤਿਨ ਸਾਧੂ ਚਰਣ ਨ ਸੇਵੇ ਕਬਹੂ ਤਿਨ ਸਭੁ ਜਨਮੁ ਅਕਾਥਾ ॥੨॥ tin saadhoo charan na seve kabahoo tin sabh janam akaathaa |2| They never serve the feet of the Holy; their lives are totally useless. ||2|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜਿਨ ਸਾਧੂ ਚਰਣ ਸਾਧ ਪਗ ਸੇਵੇ ਤਿਨ ਸਫਲਿਓ ਜਨਮੁ ਸਨਾਥਾ ॥ jin saadhoo charan saadh pag seve tin safalio janam sanaathaa | Those who serve at the feet of the Holy, the feet of the Holy, their lives are made fruitful, and they belong to the Lord. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਮੋ ਕਉ ਕੀਜੈ ਦਾਸੁ ਦਾਸ ਦਾਸਨ ਕੋ ਹਰਿ ਦਇਆ ਧਾਰਿ ਜਗੰਨਾਥਾ ॥੩॥ mo kau keejai daas daas daasan ko har deaa dhaar jaganaathaa |3| Make me the slave of the slave of the slaves of the Lord; bless me with Your Mercy, O Lord of the Universe. ||3|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਮ ਅੰਧੁਲੇ ਗਿਆਨਹੀਨ ਅਗਿਆਨੀ ਕਿਉ ਚਾਲਹ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਪੰਥਾ ॥ ham andhule giaanaheen agiaanee kiau chaalah maarag panthaa | I am blind, ignorant and totally without wisdom; how can I walk on the Path? - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਮ ਅੰਧੁਲੇ ਕਉ ਗੁਰ ਅੰਚਲੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਚਲਹ ਮਿਲੰਥਾ ॥੪॥੧॥ ham andhule kau gur anchal deejai jan naanak chalah milanthaa |4|1| I am blind - O Guru, please let me grasp the hem of Your robe, so that servant Nanak may walk in harmony with You. ||4||1|| - Guru Ramdas Ji

ਹੀਰਾ ਲਾਲੁ ਅਮੋਲਕੁ ਹੈ ਭਾਰੀ ਬਿਨੁ ਗਾਹਕ ਮੀਕਾ ਕਾਖਾ ॥ heeraa laal amolak hai bhaaree bin gaahak meekaa kaakhaa | A jewel or a diamond may be very valuable and heavy, but without a purchaser, it is worth only straw. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਰਤਨ ਗਾਹਕੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਾਧੂ ਦੇਖਿਓ ਤਬ ਰਤਨੁ ਬਿਕਾਨੋ ਲਾਖਾ ॥੧॥ ratan gaahak gur saadhoo dekhio tab ratan bikaano laakhaa |1| When the Holy Guru, the Purchaser, saw this jewel, He purchased it for hundreds of thousands of dollars. ||1|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਗੁਪਤ ਹੀਰੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖਾ ॥ merai man gupat heer har raakhaa | The Lord has kept this jewel hidden within my mind. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਓ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਾਧੂ ਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਹੀਰੁ ਪਰਾਖਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ deen deaal milaaeo gur saadhoo gur miliai heer paraakhaa | rahaau | The Lord, merciful to the meek, led me to meet the Holy Guru; meeting the Guru, I came to appreciate this jewel. ||Pause|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਕੋਠੀ ਅਗਿਆਨੁ ਅੰਧੇਰਾ ਤਿਨ ਘਰਿ ਰਤਨੁ ਨ ਲਾਖਾ ॥ manamukh kotthee agiaan andheraa tin ghar ratan na laakhaa | The rooms of the self-willed manmukhs are dark with ignorance; in their homes, the jewel is not visible. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਤੇ ਊਝੜਿ ਭਰਮਿ ਮੁਏ ਗਾਵਾਰੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਭੁਅੰਗ ਬਿਖੁ ਚਾਖਾ ॥੨॥ te aoojharr bharam mue gaavaaree maaeaa bhuang bikh chaakhaa |2| Those fools die, wandering in the wilderness, eating the poison of the snake, Maya. ||2|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਾਧ ਮੇਲਹੁ ਜਨ ਨੀਕੇ ਹਰਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਸਰਣਿ ਹਮ ਰਾਖਾ ॥ har har saadh melahu jan neeke har saadhoo saran ham raakhaa | O Lord, Har, Har, let me meet the humble, holy beings; O Lord, keep me in the Sanctuary of the Holy. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਅੰਗੀਕਾਰੁ ਕਰਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਹਮ ਪਰੇ ਭਾਗਿ ਤੁਮ ਪਾਖਾ ॥੩॥ har angeekaar karahu prabh suaamee ham pare bhaag tum paakhaa |3| O Lord, make me Your own; O God, Lord and Master, I have hurried to Your side. ||3|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜਿਹਵਾ ਕਿਆ ਗੁਣ ਆਖਿ ਵਖਾਣਹ ਤੁਮ ਵਡ ਅਗਮ ਵਡ ਪੁਰਖਾ ॥ jihavaa kiaa gun aakh vakhaanah tum vadd agam vadd purakhaa | What Glorious Virtues of Yours can I speak and describe? You are great and unfathomable, the Greatest Being. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ਪਾਖਾਣੁ ਡੁਬਤ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖਾ ॥੪॥੨॥ jan naanak har kirapaa dhaaree paakhaan ddubat har raakhaa |4|2| The Lord has bestowed His Mercy on servant Nanak; He has saved the sinking stone. ||4||2|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
