ਮਹਾ ਕਲੋਲ ਬੁਝਹਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੇ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ॥ mahaa kalol bujheh maaeaa ke kar kirapaa mere deen deaal | Please shower Your Mercy upon me, and permit me to ignore the great enticements of Maya, O Lord, Merciful to the meek. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਅਪਣਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇਹਿ ਜਪਿ ਜੀਵਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਇ ਦਾਸ ਕੀ ਘਾਲ ॥੧॥ apanaa naam dehi jap jeevaa pooran hoe daas kee ghaal |1| Give me Your Name - chanting it, I live; please bring the efforts of Your slave to fruition. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਰਬ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਰਾਜ ਸੂਖ ਰਸ ਸਦ ਖੁਸੀਆ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਜਪਿ ਨਾਮ ॥ sarab manorath raaj sookh ras sad khuseea keeratan jap naam | All desires, power, pleasure, joy and lasting bliss, are found by chanting the Naam, the Name of the Lord, and singing the Kirtan of His Praises. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਿਸ ਕੈ ਕਰਮਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਧੁਰਿ ਕਰਤੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨ ਕੇ ਪੂਰਨ ਕਾਮ ॥੨॥੨੦॥੫੧॥ jis kai karam likhiaa dhur karatai naanak jan ke pooran kaam |2|20|51| That humble servant of the Lord, who has such karma pre-ordained by the Creator Lord, O Nanak - his efforts are brought to perfect fruition. ||2||20||51|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਨਿੰਦਕ ਟਿਕਨੁ ਨ ਪਾਵਨਿ ਮੂਲੇ ਊਡਿ ਗਏ ਬੇਕਾਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ nindak ttikan na paavan moole aoodd ge bekaar |1| rahaau | The slanderers are not allowed to stay; they are pulled out by their roots, like useless weeds. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਹ ਜਹ ਦੇਖਉ ਤਹ ਤਹ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਪਹੁਚਨਹਾਰ ॥ jeh jeh dekhau teh teh suaamee koe na pahuchanahaar | Wherever I look, there I see my Lord and Master; no one can harm me. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜੋ ਜੋ ਕਰੈ ਅਵਗਿਆ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਹੋਇ ਗਇਆ ਤਤ ਛਾਰ ॥੧॥ jo jo karai avagiaa jan kee hoe geaa tat chhaar |1| Whoever shows disrespect to the Lord’s humble servant, is instantly reduced to ashes. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਰਨਹਾਰੁ ਰਖਵਾਲਾ ਹੋਆ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਰਾਵਾਰ ॥ karanahaar rakhavaalaa hoaa jaa kaa ant na paaraavaar | The Creator Lord has become my protector; He has no end or limitation. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਰਖੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਅਪੁਨੈ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਕਾਢੇ ਮਾਰਿ ॥੨॥੨੧॥੫੨॥ naanak daas rakhe prabh apunai nindak kaadte maar |2|21|52| O Nanak, God has protected and saved His slaves; He has driven out and destroyed the slanderers. ||2||21||52|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਹਰਿ ਚਰਨ ਸਰਨ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦੁਖ ਭੰਜਨਾ ਦਾਸ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਕਉ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇਵਹੁ ॥ har charan saran gobind dukh bhanjanaa daas apune kau naam devahu | O Lord, I seek the Sanctuary of Your feet; Lord of the Universe, Destroyer of pain, please bless Your slave with Your Name. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਧਾਰਹੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਤਾਰਹੁ ਭੁਜਾ ਗਹਿ ਕੂਪ ਤੇ ਕਾਢਿ ਲੇਵਹੁ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ drisatt prabh dhaarahu kripaa kar taarahu bhujaa geh koop te kaadt levahu | rahaau | Be Merciful, God, and bless me with Your Glance of Grace; take my arm and save me - pull me up out of this pit! ||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਕਰਿ ਅੰਧ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੇ ਬੰਧ ਅਨਿਕ ਦੋਖਾ ਤਨਿ ਛਾਦਿ ਪੂਰੇ ॥ kaam krodh kar andh maaeaa ke bandh anik dokhaa tan chhaad poore | He is blinded by sexual desire and anger, bound by Maya; his body and clothes are filled with countless sins. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਿਨਾ ਆਨ ਨ ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਿਮਰਾਵਹੁ ਸਰਨਿ ਸੂਰੇ ॥੧॥ prabh binaa aan na raakhanahaaraa naam simaraavahu saran soore |1| Without God, there is no other protector; help me to chant Your Name, Almighty Warrior, Sheltering Lord. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪਤਿਤ ਉਧਾਰਣਾ ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਤਾਰਣਾ ਬੇਦ ਉਚਾਰ ਨਹੀ ਅੰਤੁ ਪਾਇਓ ॥ patit udhaaranaa jeea jant taaranaa bed uchaar nahee ant paaeo | Redeemer of sinners, Saving Grace of all beings and creatures, even those who recite the Vedas have not found Your limit. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗੁਣਹ ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰਾ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਰਤਨਾਗਰਾ ਭਗਤਿ ਵਛਲੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗਾਇਓ ॥੨॥੧॥੫੩॥ gunah sukh saagaraa braham ratanaagaraa bhagat vachhal naanak gaaeo |2|1|53| God is the ocean of virtue and peace, the source of jewels; Nanak sings the Praises of the Lover of His devotees. ||2||1||53|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਹਲਤਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਲਤਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਨਿਤ ਸੁਖੁ ਸਿਮਰਨੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਕਾ ਸਦਾ ਲੀਜੈ ॥ halat sukh palat sukh nit sukh simarano naam gobind kaa sadaa leejai | Peace in this world, peace in the next world and peace forever, remembering Him in meditation. Chant forever the Name of the Lord of the Universe. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮਿਟਹਿ ਕਮਾਣੇ ਪਾਪ ਚਿਰਾਣੇ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਮੁਆ ਜੀਜੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ mitteh kamaane paap chiraane saadhasangat mil muaa jeejai |1| rahaau | The sins of past lives are erased, by joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy; new life is infused into the dead. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਰਾਜ ਜੋਬਨ ਬਿਸਰੰਤ ਹਰਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਹਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਏਹੁ ਮਹਾਂਤ ਕਹੈ ॥ raaj joban bisarant har maaeaa mahaa dukh ehu mahaant kahai | In power, youth and Maya, the Lord is forgotten; this is the greatest tragedy - so say the spiritual sages. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਆਸ ਪਿਆਸ ਰਮਣ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਏਹੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਭਾਗਵੰਤੁ ਲਹੈ ॥੧॥ aas piaas raman har keeratan ehu padaarath bhaagavant lahai |1| Hope and desire to sing the Kirtan of the Lord’s Praises - this is the treasure of the most fortunate devotees. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਰਣਿ ਸਮਰਥ ਅਕਥ ਅਗੋਚਰਾ ਪਤਿਤ ਉਧਾਰਣ ਨਾਮੁ ਤੇਰਾ ॥ saran samarath akath agocharaa patit udhaaran naam teraa | O Lord of Sanctuary, all-powerful, imperceptible and unfathomable - Your Name is the Purifier of sinners. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸਰਬਤ ਪੂਰਨ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ॥੨॥੨॥੫੪॥ antarajaamee naanak ke suaamee sarabat pooran tthaakur meraa |2|2|54| The Inner-knower, the Lord and Master of Nanak is totally pervading and permeating everywhere; He is my Lord and Master. ||2||2||54|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
