ਨਾਵੈ ਕੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਮਿਤਿ ਕਹੀ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥ naavai kee keemat mit kahee na jaae | The value and worth of the Lord’s Name cannot be described. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸੇ ਜਨ ਧੰਨੁ ਜਿਨ ਇਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥ se jan dhan jin ik naam liv laae | Blessed are those humble beings, who lovingly focus their minds on the Naam, the Name of the Lord. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਸਾਚੀ ਸਾਚਾ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥ guramat saachee saachaa veechaar | True are the Guru’s Teachings, and True is contemplative meditation. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸੇ ਦੇ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥੧॥ aape bakhase de veechaar |1| God Himself forgives, and bestows contemplative meditation. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਚਰਜੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪਿ ਸੁਣਾਏ ॥ har naam acharaj prabh aap sunaae | The Lord’s Name is wonderful! God Himself imparts it. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਕਲੀ ਕਾਲ ਵਿਚਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਏ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ kalee kaal vich guramukh paae |1| rahaau | In the Dark Age of Kali Yuga, the Gurmukhs obtain it. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹਮ ਮੂਰਖ ਮੂਰਖ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥ ham moorakh moorakh man maeh | We are ignorant; ignorance fills our minds. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਸਭ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਹਿ ॥ haumai vich sabh kaar kamaeh | We do all our deeds in ego. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਹੰਉਮੈ ਜਾਇ ॥ gur parasaadee hnaumai jaae | By Guru’s Grace, egotism is eradicated. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸੇ ਲਏ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੨॥ aape bakhase le milaae |2| Forgiving us, the Lord blends us with Himself. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਬਿਖਿਆ ਕਾ ਧਨੁ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ॥ bikhiaa kaa dhan bahut abhimaan | Poisonous wealth gives rise to great arrogance. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਅਹੰਕਾਰਿ ਡੂਬੈ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ਮਾਨੁ ॥ ahankaar ddoobai na paavai maan | Drowning in egotism, no one is honored. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਆਪੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਈ ॥ aap chhodd sadaa sukh hoee | Forsaking self-conceit, one finds lasting peace. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਸਚੁ ਸੋਈ ॥੩॥ guramat saalaahee sach soee |3| Under Guru’s Instruction, he praises the True Lord. ||3|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਆਪੇ ਸਾਜੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਸੋਇ ॥ aape saaje karataa soe | The Creator Lord Himself fashions all. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥ tis bin doojaa avar na koe | Without Him, there is no other at all. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਜਿਸੁ ਸਚਿ ਲਾਏ ਸੋਈ ਲਾਗੈ ॥ jis sach laae soee laagai | He alone is attached to Truth, whom the Lord Himself so attaches. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਆਗੈ ॥੪॥੮॥ naanak naam sadaa sukh aagai |4|8| O Nanak, through the Naam, lasting peace is attained in the hereafter. ||4||8|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਹਮ ਭੀਖਕ ਭੇਖਾਰੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਤੂ ਨਿਜ ਪਤਿ ਹੈ ਦਾਤਾ ॥ ham bheekhak bhekhaaree tere too nij pat hai daataa | I am just a poor beggar of Yours; You are Your Own Lord Master, You are the Great Giver. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹੋਹੁ ਦੈਆਲ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇਹੁ ਮੰਗਤ ਜਨ ਕੰਉ ਸਦਾ ਰਹਉ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਾ ॥੧॥ hohu daiaal naam dehu mangat jan knau sadaa rhau rang raataa |1| Be Merciful, and bless me, a humble beggar, with Your Name, so that I may forever remain imbued with Your Love. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹੰਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ਜਾਉ ਸਾਚੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਟਹੁ ॥ hnau balihaarai jaau saache tere naam vittahu | I am a sacrifice to Your Name, O True Lord. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਣ ਸਭਨਾ ਕਾ ਏਕੋ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਦੂਜਾ ਕੋਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ karan kaaran sabhanaa kaa eko avar na doojaa koee |1| rahaau | The One Lord is the Cause of causes; there is no other at all. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਬਹੁਤੇ ਫੇਰ ਪਏ ਕਿਰਪਨ ਕਉ ਅਬ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕੀਜੈ ॥ bahute fer pe kirapan kau ab kichh kirapaa keejai | I was wretched; I wandered through so many cycles of reincarnation. Now, Lord, please bless me with Your Grace. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹੋਹੁ ਦਇਆਲ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੇਹੁ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਐਸੀ ਬਖਸ ਕਰੀਜੈ ॥੨॥ hohu deaal darasan dehu apunaa aisee bakhas kareejai |2| Be merciful, and grant me the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan; please grant me such a gift. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਭਨਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਭਰਮ ਪਟ ਖੂਲੑੇ ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਜਾਨਿਆ ॥ bhanat naanak bharam patt khoolae gur parasaadee jaaniaa | Prays Nanak, the shutters of doubt have been opened wide; by Guru’s Grace, I have come to know the Lord. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਾਚੀ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੀ ਹੈ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਿਉ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ॥੩॥੧॥੯॥ saachee liv laagee hai bheetar satigur siau man maaniaa |3|1|9| I am filled to overflowing with true love; my mind is pleased and appeased by the True Guru. ||3||1||9|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸੰਤ ਭਗਤ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਸਭਿ ਪਾਪ ਨਿਵਾਰੀ ॥ jo har seveh sant bhagat tin ke sabh paap nivaaree | Those Saints and devotees who serve the Lord have all their sins washed away. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਮ ਊਪਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਰਖੁ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਤੁਮ ਜੁ ਪਿਆਰੀ ॥੧॥ ham aoopar kirapaa kar suaamee rakh sangat tum ju piaaree |1| Have Mercy on me, O Lord and Master, and keep me in the Sangat, the Congregation that You love. ||1|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਕਹਿ ਨ ਸਕਉ ਬਨਵਾਰੀ ॥ har gun keh na skau banavaaree | I cannot even speak the Praises of the Lord, the Gardener of the world. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਮ ਪਾਪੀ ਪਾਥਰ ਨੀਰਿ ਡੁਬਤ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪਾਖਣ ਹਮ ਤਾਰੀ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ham paapee paathar neer ddubat kar kirapaa paakhan ham taaree | rahaau | We are sinners, sinking like stones in water; grant Your Grace, and carry us stones across. ||Pause|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਲਾਗੇ ਬਿਖੁ ਮੋਰਚਾ ਲਗਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਸਾਧ ਸਵਾਰੀ ॥ janam janam ke laage bikh morachaa lag sangat saadh savaaree | The rust of poison and corruption from countless incarnations sticks to us; joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, it is cleaned away. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜਿਉ ਕੰਚਨੁ ਬੈਸੰਤਰਿ ਤਾਇਓ ਮਲੁ ਕਾਟੀ ਕਟਿਤ ਉਤਾਰੀ ॥੨॥ jiau kanchan baisantar taaeo mal kaattee kattit utaaree |2| It is just like gold, which is heated in the fire, to remove the impurities from it. ||2|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਨੁ ਜਪਉ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰੀ ॥ har har japan jpau din raatee jap har har har ur dhaaree | I chant the chant of the Name of the Lord, day and night; I chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, Har, and enshrine it within my heart. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਅਉਖਧੁ ਜਗਿ ਪੂਰਾ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰੀ ॥੩॥ har har har aaukhadh jag pooraa jap har har haumai maaree |3| The Name of the Lord, Har, Har, Har, is the most perfect medicine in this world; chanting the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, I have conquered my ego. ||3|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
