ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਾਚੇ ਕੀ ਸਾਚੀ ਕਾਰ ॥ prabh saache kee saachee kaar | True is service to the True Lord God. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਵਾਰਣਹਾਰ ॥੪॥੪॥ naanak naam savaaranahaar |4|4| O Nanak, the Naam is the Embellisher. ||4||4|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਧਨਾਸਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥ dhanaasaree mahalaa 3 | Dhanaasaree, Third Mehl: - Guru Amardas Ji

ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਤਿਨ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਉ ॥ jo har seveh tin bal jaau | I am a sacrifice to those who serve the Lord. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਤਿਨ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਸਾਚੁ ਸਚਾ ਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਉ ॥ tin hiradai saach sachaa mukh naau | The Truth is in their hearts, and the True Name is on their lips. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਸਾਚੋ ਸਾਚੁ ਸਮਾਲਿਹੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਜਾਇ ॥ saacho saach samaalihu dukh jaae | Dwelling upon the Truest of the True, their pains are dispelled. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਸਾਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥੧॥ saachai sabad vasai man aae |1| Through the True Word of the Shabad, the Lord comes to dwell in their minds. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਸੁਣਿ ਮੈਲੁ ਗਵਾਏ ॥ gurabaanee sun mail gavaae | Listening to the Word of Gurbani, filth is washed off, - Guru Amardas Ji

ਸਹਜੇ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ sahaje har naam man vasaae |1| rahaau | and they naturally enshrine the Lord’s Name in their minds. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਕੂੜੁ ਕੁਸਤੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਅਗਨਿ ਬੁਝਾਏ ॥ koorr kusat trisanaa agan bujhaae | One who conquers fraud, deceit and the fire of desire - Guru Amardas Ji

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ॥ antar saant sehaj sukh paae | finds tranquility, peace and pleasure within. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਭਾਣੈ ਚਲੈ ਤਾ ਆਪੁ ਜਾਇ ॥ gur kai bhaanai chalai taa aap jaae | If one walks in harmony with the Guru’s Will, he eliminates his self-conceit. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਸਾਚੁ ਮਹਲੁ ਪਾਏ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ॥੨॥ saach mehal paae har gun gaae |2| He finds the True Mansion of the Lord’s Presence, singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਨ ਸਬਦੁ ਬੂਝੈ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ਬਾਣੀ ॥ n sabad boojhai na jaanai baanee | The blind, self-willed manmukh does not understand the Shabad; he does not know the Word of the Guru’s Bani, - Guru Amardas Ji

ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਧੇ ਦੁਖਿ ਵਿਹਾਣੀ ॥ manamukh andhe dukh vihaanee | and so he passes his life in misery. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟੇ ਤਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ॥ satigur bhette taa sukh paae | But if he meets the True Guru, then he finds peace, - Guru Amardas Ji

ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਠਾਕਿ ਰਹਾਏ ॥੩॥ haumai vichahu tthaak rahaae |3| and the ego within is silenced. ||3|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਕਿਸ ਨੋ ਕਹੀਐ ਦਾਤਾ ਇਕੁ ਸੋਇ ॥ kis no kaheeai daataa ik soe | Who else should I speak to? The One Lord is the Giver of all. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਾ ਹੋਇ ॥ kirapaa kare sabad milaavaa hoe | When He grants His Grace, then we obtain the Word of the Shabad. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਮਿਲਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਸਾਚੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਾ ॥ mil preetam saache gun gaavaa | Meeting with my Beloved, I sing the Glorious Praises of the True Lord. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਚੇ ਸਾਚਾ ਭਾਵਾ ॥੪॥੫॥ naanak saache saachaa bhaavaa |4|5| O Nanak, becoming truthful, I have become pleasing to the True Lord. ||4||5|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਧਨਾਸਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥ dhanaasaree mahalaa 3 | Dhanaasaree, Third Mehl: - Guru Amardas Ji

ਮਨੁ ਮਰੈ ਧਾਤੁ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਇ ॥ man marai dhaat mar jaae | When the mind is conquered, its turbulent wanderings are stopped. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਬਿਨੁ ਮਨ ਮੂਏ ਕੈਸੇ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇ ॥ bin man mooe kaise har paae | Without conquering the mind, how can the Lord be found? - Guru Amardas Ji

ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਮਰੈ ਦਾਰੂ ਜਾਣੈ ਕੋਇ ॥ eihu man marai daaroo jaanai koe | Rare is the one who knows the medicine to conquer the mind. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਮਨੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਰੈ ਬੂਝੈ ਜਨੁ ਸੋਇ ॥੧॥ man sabad marai boojhai jan soe |1| The mind is conquered through the Word of the Shabad; this is known to the Lord’s humble servant. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਬਖਸੇ ਹਰਿ ਦੇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥ jis no bakhase har de vaddiaaee | The Lord forgives him, and blesses him with glory. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ gur parasaad vasai man aaee | rahaau | By Guru’s Grace, the Lord comes to dwell in the mind. ||Pause|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕਰਣੀ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥ guramukh karanee kaar kamaavai | The Gurmukh does good deeds, - Guru Amardas Ji

ਤਾ ਇਸੁ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਵੈ ॥ taa is man kee sojhee paavai | and so, he comes to understand this mind. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਮਨੁ ਮੈ ਮਤੁ ਮੈਗਲ ਮਿਕਦਾਰਾ ॥ man mai mat maigal mikadaaraa | The mind is intoxicated, like the elephant with wine. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਗੁਰੁ ਅੰਕਸੁ ਮਾਰਿ ਜੀਵਾਲਣਹਾਰਾ ॥੨॥ gur ankas maar jeevaalanahaaraa |2| The Guru places the harness upon it, and rejuvenates it. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਮਨੁ ਅਸਾਧੁ ਸਾਧੈ ਜਨੁ ਕੋਈ ॥ man asaadh saadhai jan koee | The mind is undisciplined; only a rare few can discipline it. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਅਚਰੁ ਚਰੈ ਤਾ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਈ ॥ achar charai taa niramal hoee | If someone eats the uneatable, then he becomes immaculate. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਲਇਆ ਸਵਾਰਿ ॥ guramukh ihu man leaa savaar | As Gurmukh, his mind is embellished. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਤਜੈ ਵਿਕਾਰ ॥੩॥ haumai vichahu tajai vikaar |3| Egotism and corruption are eradicated from within. ||3|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਜੋ ਧੁਰਿ ਰਖਿਅਨੁ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥ jo dhur rakhian mel milaae | Those whom the Primal Lord keeps united in His Union, - Guru Amardas Ji

ਕਦੇ ਨ ਵਿਛੁੜਹਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥ kade na vichhurreh sabad samaae | shall never be separated from Him; they are merged in the Word of the Shabad. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਆਪਣੀ ਕਲਾ ਆਪੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਜਾਣੈ ॥ aapanee kalaa aape prabh jaanai | Only God Himself knows His own power. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ॥੪॥੬॥ naanak guramukh naam pachhaanai |4|6| O Nanak, the Gurmukh realizes the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||4||6|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਕਾਚਾ ਧਨੁ ਸੰਚਹਿ ਮੂਰਖ ਗਾਵਾਰ ॥ kaachaa dhan sancheh moorakh gaavaar | The ignorant fools amass false wealth. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਮਨਮੁਖ ਭੂਲੇ ਅੰਧ ਗਾਵਾਰ ॥ manamukh bhoole andh gaavaar | The blind, foolish, self-willed manmukhs have gone astray. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਬਿਖਿਆ ਕੈ ਧਨਿ ਸਦਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥ bikhiaa kai dhan sadaa dukh hoe | Poisonous wealth brings constant pain. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਨਾ ਸਾਥਿ ਜਾਇ ਨ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥ naa saath jaae na paraapat hoe |1| It will not go with you, and it will not yield any profit. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਸਾਚਾ ਧਨੁ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਪਾਏ ॥ saachaa dhan guramatee paae | True wealth is obtained through the Guru’s Teachings. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਕਾਚਾ ਧਨੁ ਫੁਨਿ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਏ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ kaachaa dhan fun aavai jaae | rahaau | False wealth continues coming and going. ||Pause|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਭੂਲੇ ਸਭਿ ਮਰਹਿ ਗਵਾਰ ॥ manamukh bhoole sabh mareh gavaar | The foolish self-willed manmukhs all go astray and die. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਭਵਜਲਿ ਡੂਬੇ ਨ ਉਰਵਾਰਿ ਨ ਪਾਰਿ ॥ bhavajal ddoobe na uravaar na paar | They drown in the terrifying world-ocean, and they cannot reach either this shore, or the one beyond. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟੇ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ॥ satigur bhette poorai bhaag | But by perfect destiny, they meet the True Guru; - Guru Amardas Ji

ਸਾਚਿ ਰਤੇ ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਬੈਰਾਗਿ ॥੨॥ saach rate ahinis bairaag |2| imbued with the True Name, day and night, they remain detached from the world. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਚਹੁ ਜੁਗ ਮਹਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਸਾਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ॥ chahu jug meh amrit saachee baanee | Throughout the four ages, the True Bani of His Word is Ambrosial Nectar. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਣੀ ॥ poorai bhaag har naam samaanee | By perfect destiny, one is absorbed in the True Name. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਸਿਧ ਸਾਧਿਕ ਤਰਸਹਿ ਸਭਿ ਲੋਇ ॥ sidh saadhik taraseh sabh loe | The Siddhas, the seekers and all men long for the Name. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥੩॥ poorai bhaag paraapat hoe |3| It is obtained only by perfect destiny. ||3|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਾਚਾ ਹੈ ਸੋਇ ॥ sabh kichh saachaa saachaa hai soe | The True Lord is everything; He is True. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਊਤਮ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ਕੋਇ ॥ aootam braham pachhaanai koe | Only a few realize the exalted Lord God. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਸਚੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਚੁ ਆਪਿ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਏ ॥ sach saachaa sach aap drirraae | He is the Truest of the True; He Himself implants the True Name within. - Guru Amardas Ji
