ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਸੋ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਹੇ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥੨॥ naanak ji guramukh kareh so paravaan hai jo naam rahe liv laae |2| O Nanak, whatever the Gurmukhs do is acceptable; they remain lovingly absorbed in the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਪਉੜੀ ॥ paurree | Pauree: - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਤਿੰਨ ਕੰਉ ਜੋ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਿਖਾ ॥ hau balihaaree tin knau jo guramukh sikhaa | I am a sacrifice to those Sikhs who are Gurmukhs. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਦੇ ਤਿਨ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਪਿਖਾ ॥ jo har naam dhiaaeide tin darasan pikhaa | I behold the Blessed Vision, the Darshan of those who meditate on the Lord’s Name. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਸੁਣਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਰਵਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਮਨਿ ਲਿਖਾ ॥ sun keeratan har gun ravaa har jas man likhaa | Listening to the Kirtan of the Lord’s Praises, I contemplate His virtues; I write His Praises on the fabric of my mind. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਲਾਹੀ ਰੰਗ ਸਿਉ ਸਭਿ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਕ੍ਰਿਖਾ ॥ har naam salaahee rang siau sabh kilavikh krikhaa | I praise the Lord’s Name with love, and eradicate all my sins. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਧਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਸੁਹਾਵਾ ਸੋ ਸਰੀਰੁ ਥਾਨੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਥੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਧਰੇ ਵਿਖਾ ॥੧੯॥ dhan dhan suhaavaa so sareer thaan hai jithai meraa gur dhare vikhaa |19| Blessed, blessed and beauteous is that body and place, where my Guru places His feet. ||19|| - Guru Ramdas Ji

ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਨਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥ gur bin giaan na hovee naa sukh vasai man aae | Without the Guru, spiritual wisdom is not obtained, and peace does not come to abide in the mind. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਹੂਣੇ ਮਨਮੁਖੀ ਜਾਸਨਿ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥੧॥ naanak naam vihoone manamukhee jaasan janam gavaae |1| O Nanak, without the Naam, the Name of the Lord, the self-willed manmukhs depart, after having wasted their lives. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਸਿਧ ਸਾਧਿਕ ਨਾਵੈ ਨੋ ਸਭਿ ਖੋਜਦੇ ਥਕਿ ਰਹੇ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥ sidh saadhik naavai no sabh khojade thak rahe liv laae | All the Siddhas, spiritual masters and seekers search for the Name; they have grown weary of concentrating and focusing their attention. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਪਾਇਓ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥ bin satigur kinai na paaeo guramukh milai milaae | Without the True Guru, no one finds the Name; the Gurmukhs unite in Union with the Lord. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਪੈਨਣੁ ਖਾਣੁ ਸਭੁ ਬਾਦਿ ਹੈ ਧਿਗੁ ਸਿਧੀ ਧਿਗੁ ਕਰਮਾਤਿ ॥ bin naavai painan khaan sabh baad hai dhig sidhee dhig karamaat | Without the Name, all food and clothes are worthless; cursed is such spirituality, and cursed are such miraculous powers. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਾ ਸਿਧਿ ਸਾ ਕਰਮਾਤਿ ਹੈ ਅਚਿੰਤੁ ਕਰੇ ਜਿਸੁ ਦਾਤਿ ॥ saa sidh saa karamaat hai achint kare jis daat | That alone is spirituality, and that alone is miraculous power, which the Carefree Lord spontaneously bestows. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਏਹਾ ਸਿਧਿ ਏਹਾ ਕਰਮਾਤਿ ॥੨॥ naanak guramukh har naam man vasai ehaa sidh ehaa karamaat |2| O Nanak, the Lord’s Name abides in the mind of the Gurmukh; this is spirituality, and this is miraculous power. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਹਮ ਢਾਢੀ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਖਸਮ ਕੇ ਨਿਤ ਗਾਵਹ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਛੰਤਾ ॥ ham dtaadtee har prabh khasam ke nit gaavah har gun chhantaa | I am a minstrel of God, my Lord and Master; every day, I sing the songs of the Lord’s Glorious Praises. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਕਰਹ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਸੁਣਹ ਤਿਸੁ ਕਵਲਾ ਕੰਤਾ ॥ har keeratan karah har jas sunah tis kavalaa kantaa | I sing the Kirtan of the Lord’s Praises, and I listen to the Praises of the Lord, the Master of wealth and Maya. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਦਾਤਾ ਸਭੁ ਜਗਤੁ ਭਿਖਾਰੀਆ ਮੰਗਤ ਜਨ ਜੰਤਾ ॥ har daataa sabh jagat bhikhaareea mangat jan jantaa | The Lord is the Great Giver; all the world is begging; all beings and creatures are beggars. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਦੇਵਹੁ ਦਾਨੁ ਦਇਆਲ ਹੋਇ ਵਿਚਿ ਪਾਥਰ ਕ੍ਰਿਮ ਜੰਤਾ ॥ har devahu daan deaal hoe vich paathar krim jantaa | O Lord, You are kind and compassionate; You give Your gifts to even worms and insects among the rocks. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਧਨਵੰਤਾ ॥੨੦॥ jan naanak naam dhiaaeaa guramukh dhanavantaa |20| Servant Nanak meditates on the Naam, the Name of the Lord; as Gurmukh, he has become truly wealthy. ||20|| - Guru Ramdas Ji

ਪੜਣਾ ਗੁੜਣਾ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਕੀ ਕਾਰ ਹੈ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਵਿਕਾਰੁ ॥ parranaa gurranaa sansaar kee kaar hai andar trisanaa vikaar | Reading and studying are just worldly pursuits, if there is thirst and corruption within. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਸਭਿ ਪੜਿ ਥਕੇ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਖੁਆਰੁ ॥ haumai vich sabh parr thake doojai bhaae khuaar | Reading in egotism, all have grown weary; through the love of duality, they are ruined. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸੋ ਪੜਿਆ ਸੋ ਪੰਡਿਤੁ ਬੀਨਾ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਕਰੇ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥ so parriaa so panddit beenaa gur sabad kare veechaar | He alone is educated, and he alone is a wise Pandit, who contemplates the Word of the Guru’s Shabad. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਅੰਦਰੁ ਖੋਜੈ ਤਤੁ ਲਹੈ ਪਾਏ ਮੋਖ ਦੁਆਰੁ ॥ andar khojai tat lahai paae mokh duaar | He searches within himself, and finds the true essence; he finds the Door of Salvation. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਹਜਿ ਕਰੇ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥ gun nidhaan har paaeaa sehaj kare veechaar | He finds the Lord, the treasure of excellence, and peacefully contemplates Him. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਧੰਨੁ ਵਾਪਾਰੀ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥੧॥ dhan vaapaaree naanakaa jis guramukh naam adhaar |1| Blessed is the trader, O Nanak, who, as Gurmukh, takes the Name as his only Support. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਵਿਣੁ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਰੇ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਸਿਝਈ ਵੇਖਹੁ ਕੋ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥ vin man maare koe na sijhee vekhahu ko liv laae | Without conquering his mind, no one can be successful. See this, and concentrate on it. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਭੇਖਧਾਰੀ ਤੀਰਥੀ ਭਵਿ ਥਕੇ ਨਾ ਏਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਜਾਇ ॥ bhekhadhaaree teerathee bhav thake naa ehu man maariaa jaae | The wandering holy men are tired of of making pilgrimages to sacred shrines; they have not been able to conquer their minds. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਏਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਜੀਵਤੁ ਮਰੈ ਸਚਿ ਰਹੈ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥ guramukh ehu man jeevat marai sach rahai liv laae | The Gurmukh has conquered his mind, and he remains lovingly absorbed in the True Lord. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਇਸੁ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਮਲੁ ਇਉ ਉਤਰੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਜਲਾਇ ॥੨॥ naanak is man kee mal iau utarai haumai sabad jalaae |2| O Nanak, this is how the filth of the mind is removed; the Word of the Shabad burns away the ego. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਤ ਮਿਲਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਵਹੁ ਇਕ ਕਿਨਕਾ ॥ har har sant milahu mere bhaaee har naam drirraavahu ik kinakaa | O Saints of the Lord, O my Siblings of Destiny, please meet with me, and implant the Name of the One Lord within me. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ਬਨਾਵਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਹਰਿ ਕਾਪੜੁ ਪਹਿਰਹੁ ਖਿਮ ਕਾ ॥ har har seegaar banaavahu har jan har kaaparr pahirahu khim kaa | O humble servants of the Lord, adorn me with the decorations of the Lord, Har, Har; let me wear the robes of the Lord’s forgiveness. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਐਸਾ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਲਾਗੈ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਿਮ ਕਾ ॥ aisaa seegaar mere prabh bhaavai har laagai piaaraa prim kaa | Such decorations are pleasing to my God; such love is dear to the Lord. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਬੋਲਹੁ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਸਭਿ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਕਾਟੈ ਇਕ ਪਲਕਾ ॥ har har naam bolahu din raatee sabh kilabikh kaattai ik palakaa | I chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, day and night; in an instant, all sins are eradicated. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਉਪਰਿ ਸੋ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਜਿਣਕਾ ॥੨੧॥ har har deaal hovai jis upar so guramukh har jap jinakaa |21| That Gurmukh, unto whom the Lord becomes merciful, chants the Lord’s Name, and wins the game of life. ||21|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
