ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਜਉ ਤੁਮਹਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਓ ਤਉ ਸੁਨੀ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ਬਾਣੀ ॥ saadhasang jau tumeh milaaeo tau sunee tumaaree baanee | When You brought me to the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, then I heard the Bani of Your Word. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਅਨਦੁ ਭਇਆ ਪੇਖਤ ਹੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ਪੁਰਖ ਨਿਰਬਾਣੀ ॥੪॥੭॥੧੮॥ anad bheaa pekhat hee naanak prataap purakh nirabaanee |4|7|18| Nanak is in ecstasy, beholding the Glory of the Primal Lord of Nirvaanaa. ||4||7||18|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਹਮ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੀ ਰੇਨੁ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਹਮ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਾ ॥ ham santan kee ren piaare ham santan kee saranaa | I am the dust of the feet of the Beloved Saints; I seek the Protection of their Sanctuary. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੰਤ ਹਮਾਰੀ ਓਟ ਸਤਾਣੀ ਸੰਤ ਹਮਾਰਾ ਗਹਣਾ ॥੧॥ sant hamaaree ott sataanee sant hamaaraa gahanaa |1| The Saints are my all-powerful Support; the Saints are my ornament and decoration. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਮ ਸੰਤਨ ਸਿਉ ਬਣਿ ਆਈ ॥ ham santan siau ban aaee | I am hand and glove with the Saints. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪੂਰਬਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਪਾਈ ॥ poorab likhiaa paaee | I have realized my pre-ordained destiny. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਭਾਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ eihu man teraa bhaaee | rahaau | This mind is yours, O Siblings of Destiny. ||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੰਤਨ ਸਿਉ ਮੇਰੀ ਲੇਵਾ ਦੇਵੀ ਸੰਤਨ ਸਿਉ ਬਿਉਹਾਰਾ ॥ santan siau meree levaa devee santan siau biauhaaraa | My dealings are with the Saints, and my business is with the Saints. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੰਤਨ ਸਿਉ ਹਮ ਲਾਹਾ ਖਾਟਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਭਰੇ ਭੰਡਾਰਾ ॥੨॥ santan siau ham laahaa khaattiaa har bhagat bhare bhanddaaraa |2| I have earned the profit with the Saints, and the treasure filled to over-flowing with devotion to the Lord. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੰਤਨ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਪੂੰਜੀ ਸਉਪੀ ਤਉ ਉਤਰਿਆ ਮਨ ਕਾ ਧੋਖਾ ॥ santan mo kau poonjee saupee tau utariaa man kaa dhokhaa | The Saints entrusted to me the capital, and my mind’s delusion was dispelled. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਧਰਮ ਰਾਇ ਅਬ ਕਹਾ ਕਰੈਗੋ ਜਉ ਫਾਟਿਓ ਸਗਲੋ ਲੇਖਾ ॥੩॥ dharam raae ab kahaa karaigo jau faattio sagalo lekhaa |3| What can the Righteous Judge of Dharma do now? All my accounts have been torn up. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮਹਾ ਅਨੰਦ ਭਏ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੈ ਪਰਸਾਦੇ ॥ mahaa anand bhe sukh paaeaa santan kai parasaade | I have found the greatest bliss, and I am at peace, by the Grace of the Saints. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਤੇ ਬਿਸਮਾਦੇ ॥੪॥੮॥੧੯॥ kahu naanak har siau man maaniaa rang rate bisamaade |4|8|19| Says Nanak, my mind is reconciled with the Lord; it is imbued with the wondrous Love of the Lord. ||4||8||19|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਜੇਤੀ ਸਮਗ੍ਰੀ ਦੇਖਹੁ ਰੇ ਨਰ ਤੇਤੀ ਹੀ ਛਡਿ ਜਾਨੀ ॥ jetee samagree dekhahu re nar tetee hee chhadd jaanee | All the things that you see, O man, you shall have to leave behind. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਸੰਗਿ ਕਰਿ ਬਿਉਹਾਰਾ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਪਦੁ ਨਿਰਬਾਨੀ ॥੧॥ raam naam sang kar biauhaaraa paaveh pad nirabaanee |1| Let your dealings be with the Lord’s Name, and you shall attain the state of Nirvaanaa. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪਿਆਰੇ ਤੂ ਮੇਰੋ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ॥ piaare too mero sukhadaataa | O my Beloved, You are the Giver of peace. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਦੀਆ ਉਪਦੇਸਾ ਤੁਮ ਹੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਪਰਾਤਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ gur poorai deea upadesaa tum hee sang paraataa | rahaau | The Perfect Guru has given me these Teachings, and I am attuned to You. ||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹ ਅਭਿਮਾਨਾ ਤਾ ਮਹਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਈਐ ॥ kaam krodh lobh moh abhimaanaa taa meh sukh nahee paaeeai | In sexual desire, anger, greed, emotional attachment and self-conceit, peace is not to be found. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹੋਹੁ ਰੇਨ ਤੂ ਸਗਲ ਕੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਤਉ ਅਨਦ ਮੰਗਲ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੨॥ hohu ren too sagal kee mere man tau anad mangal sukh paaeeai |2| So be the dust of the feet of all, O my mind, and then you shall find bliss, joy and peace. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਘਾਲ ਨ ਭਾਨੈ ਅੰਤਰ ਬਿਧਿ ਜਾਨੈ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਕਰਿ ਮਨ ਸੇਵਾ ॥ ghaal na bhaanai antar bidh jaanai taa kee kar man sevaa | He knows the condition of your inner self, and He will not let your work go in vain - serve Him, O mind. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਰਿ ਪੂਜਾ ਹੋਮਿ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੂਆ ਅਕਾਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਗੁਰਦੇਵਾ ॥੩॥ kar poojaa hom ihu manooaa akaal moorat guradevaa |3| Worship Him, and dedicate this mind unto Him, the Image of the Undying Lord, the Divine Guru. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗੋਬਿਦ ਦਾਮੋਦਰ ਦਇਆਲ ਮਾਧਵੇ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰਾ ॥ gobid daamodar deaal maadhave paarabraham nirankaaraa | He is the Lord of the Universe, the Compassionate Lord, the Supreme Lord God, the Formless Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਮੁ ਵਰਤਣਿ ਨਾਮੋ ਵਾਲੇਵਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਅਧਾਰਾ ॥੪॥੯॥੨੦॥ naam varatan naamo vaalevaa naam naanak praan adhaaraa |4|9|20| The Naam is my merchandise, the Naam is my nourishment; the Naam, O Nanak, is the Support of my breath of life. ||4||9||20|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਮਿਰਤਕ ਕਉ ਪਾਇਓ ਤਨਿ ਸਾਸਾ ਬਿਛੁਰਤ ਆਨਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ॥ miratak kau paaeo tan saasaa bichhurat aan milaaeaa | He infuses the breath into the dead bodies, and he reunited the separated ones. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪਸੂ ਪਰੇਤ ਮੁਗਧ ਭਏ ਸ੍ਰੋਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ਮੁਖਿ ਗਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ pasoo paret mugadh bhe srote har naamaa mukh gaaeaa |1| Even beasts, demons and fools become attentive listeners, when He sings the Praises of the Lord’s Name. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਦੇਖੁ ਵਡਾਈ ॥ poore gur kee dekh vaddaaee | Behold the glorious greatness of the Perfect Guru. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤਾ ਕੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ taa kee keemat kehan na jaaee | rahaau | His worth cannot be described. ||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਦੂਖ ਸੋਗ ਕਾ ਢਾਹਿਓ ਡੇਰਾ ਅਨਦ ਮੰਗਲ ਬਿਸਰਾਮਾ ॥ dookh sog kaa dtaahio dderaa anad mangal bisaraamaa | He has demolished the abode of sorrow and disease, and brought bliss, joy and happiness. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮਨ ਬਾਂਛਤ ਫਲ ਮਿਲੇ ਅਚਿੰਤਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਏ ਕਾਮਾ ॥੨॥ man baanchhat fal mile achintaa pooran hoe kaamaa |2| He effortlessly awards the fruits of the mind’s desire, and all works are brought to perfection. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਈਹਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਆਗੈ ਮੁਖ ਊਜਲ ਮਿਟਿ ਗਏ ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣੇ ॥ eehaa sukh aagai mukh aoojal mitt ge aavan jaane | He finds peace in this world, and his face is radiant in the world hereafter; his comings and goings are finished. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਿਰਭਉ ਭਏ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਿਆ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਣੇ ॥੩॥ nirbhau bhe hiradai naam vasiaa apune satigur kai man bhaane |3| He becomes fearless, and his heart is filled with the Naam, the Name of the Lord; his mind is pleasing to the True Guru. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਊਠਤ ਬੈਠਤ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਦੂਖੁ ਦਰਦੁ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭਾਗਾ ॥ aootthat baitthat har gun gaavai dookh darad bhram bhaagaa | Standing up and sitting down, he sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord; his pain, sorrow and doubt are dispelled. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਪੂਰ ਕਰੰਮਾ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਨੀ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਗਾ ॥੪॥੧੦॥੨੧॥ kahu naanak taa ke poor karamaa jaa kaa gur charanee man laagaa |4|10|21| Says Nanak, his karma is perfect; his mind is attached to the Guru’s feet. ||4||10||21|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਰਤਨੁ ਛਾਡਿ ਕਉਡੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਲਾਗੇ ਜਾ ਤੇ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ॥ ratan chhaadd kauddee sang laage jaa te kachhoo na paaeeai | Forsaking the jewel, he is attached to the shell; nothing will come of it. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
