ਜੋ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸੋ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਦੇਖਹੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਦੂਜਾ ਕੋਈ ਜੀਉ ॥ jo antar so baahar dekhahu avar na doojaa koee jeeo | He is within - see Him outside as well; there is no one, other than Him. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਏਕ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਕਰਿ ਦੇਖਹੁ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਮੋਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥ guramukh ek drisatt kar dekhahu ghatt ghatt jot samoee jeeo |2| As Gurmukh, look upon all with the single eye of equality; in each and every heart, the Divine Light is contained. ||2|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਚਲਤੌ ਠਾਕਿ ਰਖਹੁ ਘਰਿ ਅਪਨੈ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਇਹ ਮਤਿ ਹੋਈ ਜੀਉ ॥ chalatau tthaak rakhahu ghar apanai gur miliai ih mat hoee jeeo | Restrain your fickle mind, and keep it steady within its own home; meeting the Guru, this understanding is obtained. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਦੇਖਿ ਅਦ੍ਰਿਸਟੁ ਰਹਉ ਬਿਸਮਾਦੀ ਦੁਖੁ ਬਿਸਰੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥ dekh adrisatt rhau bisamaadee dukh bisarai sukh hoee jeeo |3| Seeing the unseen Lord, you shall be amazed and delighted; forgetting your pain, you shall be at peace. ||3|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਪੀਵਹੁ ਅਪਿਉ ਪਰਮ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਵਾਸਾ ਹੋਈ ਜੀਉ ॥ peevahu apiau param sukh paaeeai nij ghar vaasaa hoee jeeo | Drinking in the ambrosial nectar, you shall attain the highest bliss, and dwell within the home of your own self. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਭਵ ਭੰਜਨੁ ਗਾਈਐ ਪੁਨਰਪਿ ਜਨਮੁ ਨ ਹੋਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥ janam maran bhav bhanjan gaaeeai punarap janam na hoee jeeo |4| So sing the Praises of the Lord, the Destroyer of the fear of birth and death, and you shall not be reincarnated again. ||4|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਤਤੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਬਾਈ ਸੋਹੰ ਭੇਦੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਜੀਉ ॥ tat niranjan jot sabaaee sohan bhed na koee jeeo | The essence, the immaculate Lord, the Light of all - I am He and He is me - there is no difference between us. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਅਪਰੰਪਰ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਸੋਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੫॥੧੧॥ aparanpar paarabraham paramesar naanak gur miliaa soee jeeo |5|11| The Infinite Transcendent Lord, the Supreme Lord God - Nanak has met with Him, the Guru. ||5||11|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥ ik oankaar satigur prasaad | One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru: - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਜਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵਾ ਤਦ ਹੀ ਗਾਵਾ ॥ jaa tis bhaavaa tad hee gaavaa | When I am pleasing to Him, then I sing His Praises. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਤਾ ਗਾਵੇ ਕਾ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਵਾ ॥ taa gaave kaa fal paavaa | Singing His Praises, I receive the fruits of my rewards. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਗਾਵੇ ਕਾ ਫਲੁ ਹੋਈ ॥ gaave kaa fal hoee | The rewards of singing His Praises - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਜਾ ਆਪੇ ਦੇਵੈ ਸੋਈ ॥੧॥ jaa aape devai soee |1| Are obtained when He Himself gives them. ||1|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨੀ ਨਿਧਿ ਪਾਈ ॥ man mere gur bachanee nidh paaee | O my mind, through the Word of the Guru’s Shabad, the treasure is obtained; - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਤਾ ਤੇ ਸਚ ਮਹਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ taa te sach meh rahiaa samaaee | rahaau | this is why I remain immersed in the True Name. ||Pause|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਗੁਰ ਸਾਖੀ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਜਾਗੀ ॥ gur saakhee antar jaagee | When I awoke within myself to the Guru’s Teachings, - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਤਾ ਚੰਚਲ ਮਤਿ ਤਿਆਗੀ ॥ taa chanchal mat tiaagee | then I renounced my fickle intellect. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਗੁਰ ਸਾਖੀ ਕਾ ਉਜੀਆਰਾ ॥ gur saakhee kaa ujeeaaraa | When the Light of the Guru’s Teachings dawned, - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਤਾ ਮਿਟਿਆ ਸਗਲ ਅੰਧੵਾਰਾ ॥੨॥ taa mittiaa sagal andhayaaraa |2| and then all darkness was dispelled. ||2|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਗੁਰ ਚਰਨੀ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਗਾ ॥ gur charanee man laagaa | When the mind is attached to the Guru’s Feet, - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਤਾ ਜਮ ਕਾ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਭਾਗਾ ॥ taa jam kaa maarag bhaagaa | then the Path of Death recedes. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਭੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ bhai vich nirbhau paaeaa | Through the Fear of God, one attains the Fearless Lord; - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਤਾ ਸਹਜੈ ਕੈ ਘਰਿ ਆਇਆ ॥੩॥ taa sahajai kai ghar aaeaa |3| then, one enters the home of celestial bliss. ||3|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਭਣਤਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਬੂਝੈ ਕੋ ਬੀਚਾਰੀ ॥ bhanat naanak boojhai ko beechaaree | Prays Nanak, how rare are those who reflect and understand, - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਇਸੁ ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਕਰਣੀ ਸਾਰੀ ॥ eis jag meh karanee saaree | the most sublime action in this world. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਕਰਣੀ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਹੋਈ ॥ karanee keerat hoee | The noblest deed is to sing the Lord’s Praises, - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਜਾ ਆਪੇ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਸੋਈ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੨॥ jaa aape miliaa soee |4|1|12| and so meet the Lord Himself. ||4||1||12|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji

ਸੇਵਕ ਸੇਵ ਕਰਹਿ ਸਭਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਜਿਨ ਸਬਦੈ ਸਾਦੁ ਆਇਆ ॥ sevak sev kareh sabh teree jin sabadai saad aaeaa | All of Your servants, who relish the Word of Your Shabad, serve You. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਆ ਜਿਨਿ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥ gur kirapaa te niramal hoaa jin vichahu aap gavaaeaa | By Guru’s Grace, they become pure, eradicating self-conceit from within. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਨਿਤ ਸਾਚੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਹਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ anadin gun gaaveh nit saache gur kai sabad suhaaeaa |1| Night and day, they continually sing the Glorious Praises of the True Lord; they are adorned with the Word of the Guru’s Shabad. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਮੇਰੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਹਮ ਬਾਰਿਕ ਸਰਣਿ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ॥ mere tthaakur ham baarik saran tumaaree | O my Lord and Master, I am Your child; I seek Your Sanctuary. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਏਕੋ ਸਚਾ ਸਚੁ ਤੂ ਕੇਵਲੁ ਆਪਿ ਮੁਰਾਰੀ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ eko sachaa sach too keval aap muraaree | rahaau | You are the One and Only Lord, the Truest of the True; You Yourself are the Destroyer of ego. ||Pause|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਜਾਗਤ ਰਹੇ ਤਿਨੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਬਦੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰੀ ॥ jaagat rahe tinee prabh paaeaa sabade haumai maaree | Those who remain wakeful obtain God; through the Word of the Shabad, they conquer their ego. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗਿਰਹੀ ਮਹਿ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਉਦਾਸੀ ਗਿਆਨ ਤਤ ਬੀਚਾਰੀ ॥ girahee meh sadaa har jan udaasee giaan tat beechaaree | Immersed in family life, the Lord’s humble servant ever remains detached; he reflects upon the essence of spiritual wisdom. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖਿਆ ਉਰ ਧਾਰੀ ॥੨॥ satigur sev sadaa sukh paaeaa har raakhiaa ur dhaaree |2| Serving the True Guru, he finds eternal peace, and he keeps the Lord enshrined in his heart. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਇਹੁ ਮਨੂਆ ਦਹ ਦਿਸਿ ਧਾਵਦਾ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਖੁਆਇਆ ॥ eihu manooaa deh dis dhaavadaa doojai bhaae khuaaeaa | This mind wanders in the ten directions; it is consumed by the love of duality. - Guru Amardas Ji
