ਨਾਨਕ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵੇ ਜਮ ਪੁਰਿ ਬਧੇ ਮਾਰੀਅਨਿ ਮੁਹਿ ਕਾਲੈ ਉਠਿ ਜਾਹਿ ॥੧॥ naanak bin satigur seve jam pur badhe maareean muhi kaalai utth jaeh |1| O Nanak, without serving the True Guru, they are bound and beaten in the City of Death; they arise and depart with blackened faces. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਜਾਲਉ ਐਸੀ ਰੀਤਿ ਜਿਤੁ ਮੈ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਵੀਸਰੈ ॥ jaalau aisee reet jit mai piaaraa veesarai | Burn away those rituals which lead you to forget the Beloved Lord. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਈ ਭਲੀ ਪਰੀਤਿ ਜਿਤੁ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਸੇਤੀ ਪਤਿ ਰਹੈ ॥੨॥ naanak saaee bhalee pareet jit saahib setee pat rahai |2| O Nanak, sublime is that love, which preserves my honor with my Lord Master. ||2|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji

ਹਰਿ ਇਕੋ ਦਾਤਾ ਸੇਵੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਇਕੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥ har iko daataa seveeai har ik dhiaaeeai | Serve the One Lord, the Great Giver; meditate on the One Lord. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਇਕੋ ਦਾਤਾ ਮੰਗੀਐ ਮਨ ਚਿੰਦਿਆ ਪਾਈਐ ॥ har iko daataa mangeeai man chindiaa paaeeai | Beg from the One Lord, the Great Giver, and you shall obtain your heart’s desires. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜੇ ਦੂਜੇ ਪਾਸਹੁ ਮੰਗੀਐ ਤਾ ਲਾਜ ਮਰਾਈਐ ॥ je dooje paasahu mangeeai taa laaj maraaeeai | But if you beg from another, then you shall be shamed and destroyed. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜਿਨਿ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਸਭ ਭੁਖ ਗਵਾਈਐ ॥ jin seviaa tin fal paaeaa tis jan kee sabh bhukh gavaaeeai | One who serves the Lord obtains the fruits of his rewards; all of his hunger is satisfied. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਤਿਨ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਵਾਰਿਆ ਜਿਨ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥੧੦॥ naanak tin vittahu vaariaa jin anadin hiradai har naam dhiaaeeai |10| Nanak is a sacrifice to those, who night and day, meditate within their hearts on the Name of the Lord. ||10|| - Guru Ramdas Ji

ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੰਉ ਆਪਿ ਤੁਠਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਆਪੇ ਲਇਅਨੁ ਜਨ ਲਾਇ ॥ bhagat janaa knau aap tutthaa meraa piaaraa aape leian jan laae | He Himself is pleased with His humble devotees; my Beloved Lord attaches them to Himself. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹੀ ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾ ਕਉ ਦਿਤੀਅਨੁ ਸਿਰਿ ਛਤੁ ਸਚਾ ਹਰਿ ਬਣਾਇ ॥ paatisaahee bhagat janaa kau diteean sir chhat sachaa har banaae | The Lord blesses His humble devotees with royalty; He fashions the true crown upon their heads. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੀਏ ਨਿਰਮਲੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਇ ॥ sadaa sukhee niramale satigur kee kaar kamaae | They are always at peace, and immaculately pure; they perform service for the True Guru. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਰਾਜੇ ਓਇ ਨ ਆਖੀਅਹਿ ਭਿੜਿ ਮਰਹਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਜੂਨੀ ਪਾਹਿ ॥ raaje oe na aakheeeh bhirr mareh fir joonee paeh | They are not said to be kings, who die in conflict, and then enter again the cycle of reincarnation. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਵਿਣੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਨਕਂੀ ਵਢਂੀ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਸੋਭਾ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਪਾਹਿ ॥੧॥ naanak vin naavai nakanee vadtanee fireh sobhaa mool na paeh |1| O Nanak, without the Name of the Lord, they wander about with their noses cut off in disgrace; they get no respect at all. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਸੁਣਿ ਸਿਖਿਐ ਸਾਦੁ ਨ ਆਇਓ ਜਿਚਰੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ॥ sun sikhiai saad na aaeo jichar guramukh sabad na laagai | Hearing the teachings, he does not appreciate them, as long as he is not Gurmukh, attached to the Word of the Shabad. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਸੇਵਿਐ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਭਾਗੈ ॥ satigur seviai naam man vasai vichahu bhram bhau bhaagai | Serving the True Guru, the Naam comes to abide in the mind, and doubts and fears run away. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਜੇਹਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਨੋ ਜਾਣੈ ਤੇਹੋ ਹੋਵੈ ਤਾ ਸਚਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੈ ॥ jehaa satigur no jaanai teho hovai taa sach naam liv laagai | As he knows the True Guru, so he is transformed, and then, he lovingly focuses his consciousness on the Naam. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਿ ਸੋਹਨਿ ਆਗੈ ॥੨॥ naanak naam milai vaddiaaee har dar sohan aagai |2| O Nanak, through the Naam, the Name of the Lord, greatness is obtained; he shall be resplendent in the Court of the Lord hereafter. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਗੁਰਸਿਖਾਂ ਮਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਹੈ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਜਣ ਆਵਹਿ ॥ gurasikhaan man har preet hai gur poojan aaveh | The minds of the Gursikhs are filled with the love of the Lord; they come and worship the Guru. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਣੰਜਹਿ ਰੰਗ ਸਿਉ ਲਾਹਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਲੈ ਜਾਵਹਿ ॥ har naam vananjeh rang siau laahaa har naam lai jaaveh | They trade lovingly in the Lord’s Name, and depart after earning the profit of the Lord’s Name. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਗੁਰਸਿਖਾ ਕੇ ਮੁਖ ਉਜਲੇ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਭਾਵਹਿ ॥ gurasikhaa ke mukh ujale har daragah bhaaveh | The faces of the Gursikhs are radiant; in the Court of the Lord, they are approved. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਗੁਰੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਬੋਹਲੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਕਾ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਸਿਖ ਗੁਣ ਸਾਂਝ ਕਰਾਵਹਿ ॥ gur satigur bohal har naam kaa vaddabhaagee sikh gun saanjh karaaveh | The Guru, the True Guru, is the treasure of the Lord’s Name; how very fortunate are the Sikhs who share in this treasure of virtue. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਤਿਨਾ ਗੁਰਸਿਖਾ ਕੰਉ ਹਉ ਵਾਰਿਆ ਜੋ ਬਹਦਿਆ ਉਠਦਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵਹਿ ॥੧੧॥ tinaa gurasikhaa knau hau vaariaa jo bahadiaa utthadiaa har naam dhiaaveh |11| I am a sacrifice to those Gursikhs who, sitting and standing, meditate on the Lord’s Name. ||11|| - Guru Ramdas Ji

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਇ ॥ naanak naam nidhaan hai guramukh paaeaa jaae | O Nanak, the Naam, the Name of the Lord, is the treasure, which the Gurmukhs obtain. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਘਰਿ ਹੋਦੀ ਵਥੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਨੀ ਅੰਧੇ ਭਉਕਿ ਮੁਏ ਬਿਲਲਾਇ ॥੧॥ manamukh ghar hodee vath na jaananee andhe bhauk mue bilalaae |1| The self-willed manmukhs are blind; they do not realize that it is within their own home. They die barking and crying. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਕੰਚਨ ਕਾਇਆ ਨਿਰਮਲੀ ਜੋ ਸਚਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਚਿ ਲਾਗੀ ॥ kanchan kaaeaa niramalee jo sach naam sach laagee | That body is golden and immaculate, which is attached to the True Name of the True Lord. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਜੋਤਿ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਭਾਗੀ ॥ niramal jot niranjan paaeaa guramukh bhram bhau bhaagee | The Gurmukh obtains the Pure Light of the Luminous Lord, and his doubts and fears run away. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ॥੨॥ naanak guramukh sadaa sukh paaveh anadin har bairaagee |2| O Nanak, the Gurmukhs find lasting peace; night and day, they remain detached, while in the Love of the Lord. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਸੇ ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਧਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਨੀ ਗੁਰ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਕੰਨੀ ॥ se gurasikh dhan dhan hai jinee gur upades suniaa har kanee | Blessed, blessed are those Gursikhs, who, with their ears, listen to the Guru’s Teachings about the Lord. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਗੁਰਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਹੰਉਮੈ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਭੰਨੀ ॥ gur satigur naam drirraaeaa tin hnaumai dubidhaa bhanee | The Guru, the True Guru, implants the Naam within them, and their egotism and duality are silenced. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਵੈ ਕੋ ਮਿਤ੍ਰੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ਡਿਠਾ ਹਰਿ ਜੰਨੀ ॥ bin har naavai ko mitru naahee veechaar dditthaa har janee | There is no friend, other than the Name of the Lord; the Lord’s humble servants reflect upon this and see. - Guru Ramdas Ji
