ਆਪੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰੀ ਪਿਰੁ ਸਚੜਾ ਮਿਲੈ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਏ ॥ aap chhodd sevaa karee pir sacharraa milai sehaj subhaae | Renouncing ego, I serve them; thus I meet my True Husband Lord, with intuitive ease. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਪਿਰੁ ਸਚਾ ਮਿਲੈ ਆਏ ਸਾਚੁ ਕਮਾਏ ਸਾਚਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਧਨ ਰਾਤੀ ॥ pir sachaa milai aae saach kamaae saach sabad dhan raatee | The True Husband Lord comes to meet the soul-bride who practices Truth, and is imbued with the True Word of the Shabad. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਕਦੇ ਨ ਰਾਂਡ ਸਦਾ ਸੋਹਾਗਣਿ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਹਜ ਸਮਾਧੀ ॥ kade na raandd sadaa sohaagan antar sehaj samaadhee | She shall never become a widow; she shall always be a happy bride. Deep within herself, she dwells in the celestial bliss of Samaadhi. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਪਿਰੁ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰੇ ਵੇਖੁ ਹਦੂਰੇ ਰੰਗੁ ਮਾਣੇ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਏ ॥ pir rahiaa bharapoore vekh hadoore rang maane sehaj subhaae | Her Husband Lord is fully pervading everywhere; beholding Him ever-present, she enjoys His Love, with intuitive ease. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਜਿਨੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਕੰਤੁ ਪਛਾਣਿਆ ਹਉ ਤਿਨ ਪੂਛਉ ਸੰਤਾ ਜਾਏ ॥੩॥ jinee aapanaa kant pachhaaniaa hau tin poochhau santaa jaae |3| Those who have realized their Husband Lord - I go and ask those Saints about Him. ||3|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਪਿਰਹੁ ਵਿਛੁੰਨੀਆ ਭੀ ਮਿਲਹ ਜੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਲਾਗਹ ਸਾਚੇ ਪਾਏ ॥ pirahu vichhuneea bhee milah je satigur laagah saache paae | The separated ones also meet with their Husband Lord, if they fall at the Feet of the True Guru. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸਦਾ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਹੈ ਅਵਗੁਣ ਸਬਦਿ ਜਲਾਏ ॥ satigur sadaa deaal hai avagun sabad jalaae | The True Guru is forever merciful; through the Word of His Shabad, demerits are burnt away. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਅਉਗੁਣ ਸਬਦਿ ਜਲਾਏ ਦੂਜਾ ਭਾਉ ਗਵਾਏ ਸਚੇ ਹੀ ਸਚਿ ਰਾਤੀ ॥ aaugun sabad jalaae doojaa bhaau gavaae sache hee sach raatee | Burning away her demerits through the Shabad, the soul-bride eradicates her love of duality, and remains absorbed in the True, True Lord. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਉਮੈ ਗਈ ਭਰਾਤੀ ॥ sachai sabad sadaa sukh paaeaa haumai gee bharaatee | Through the True Shabad, everlasting peace is obtained, and egotism and doubt are dispelled. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਪਿਰੁ ਨਿਰਮਾਇਲੁ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥ pir niramaaeil sadaa sukhadaataa naanak sabad milaae | The Immaculate Husband Lord is forever the Giver of peace; O Nanak, through the Word of His Shabad, He is met. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਅਵਗਣਵੰਤੀ ਪਿਰੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਈ ਮੁਠੀ ਰੋਵੈ ਕੰਤ ਵਿਸਾਰਿ ॥ avaganavantee pir na jaanee mutthee rovai kant visaar | The worthless bride does not know her Husband Lord - she is deluded; forgetting her Husband Lord, she weeps and wails. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਰੋਵੈ ਕੰਤ ਸੰਮਾਲਿ ਸਦਾ ਗੁਣ ਸਾਰਿ ਨਾ ਪਿਰੁ ਮਰੈ ਨ ਜਾਏ ॥ rovai kant samaal sadaa gun saar naa pir marai na jaae | She weeps, thinking of her Husband Lord, and she cherishes His virtues; her Husband Lord does not die, and does not leave. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਤਾ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਛਾਤਾ ਸਾਚੈ ਪ੍ਰੇਮਿ ਸਮਾਏ ॥ guramukh jaataa sabad pachhaataa saachai prem samaae | As Gurmukh, she knows the Lord; through the Word of His Shabad, He is realized; through True Love, she merges with Him. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਜਿਨਿ ਅਪਣਾ ਪਿਰੁ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਤਾ ਕਰਮ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ਕੂੜਿ ਮੁਠੀ ਕੂੜਿਆਰੇ ॥ jin apanaa pir nahee jaataa karam bidhaataa koorr mutthee koorriaare | She who does not know her Husband Lord, the Architect of karma, is deluded by falsehood - she herself is false. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਆਪਿ ਉਪਾਇਓਨੁ ਆਵਣੁ ਜਾਣੁ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥ sabh jag aap upaaeon aavan jaan sansaaraa | He Himself created the whole world; the world comes and goes. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਖੁਆਇਅਨੁ ਮਰਿ ਜੰਮੈ ਵਾਰੋ ਵਾਰਾ ॥ maaeaa mohu khuaaeian mar jamai vaaro vaaraa | The love of Maya has ruined the world; people die, to be re-born, over and over again. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਮਰਿ ਜੰਮੈ ਵਾਰੋ ਵਾਰਾ ਵਧਹਿ ਬਿਕਾਰਾ ਗਿਆਨ ਵਿਹੂਣੀ ਮੂਠੀ ॥ mar jamai vaaro vaaraa vadheh bikaaraa giaan vihoonee mootthee | People die to be re-born, over and over again, while their sins increase; without spiritual wisdom, they are deluded. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਬਦੈ ਪਿਰੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਓ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਓ ਰੋਵੈ ਅਵਗੁਣਿਆਰੀ ਝੂਠੀ ॥ bin sabadai pir na paaeo janam gavaaeo rovai avaguniaaree jhootthee | Without the Word of the Shabad, the Husband Lord is not found; the worthless, false bride wastes her life away, weeping and wailing. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਪਿਰੁ ਜਗਜੀਵਨੁ ਕਿਸ ਨੋ ਰੋਈਐ ਰੋਵੈ ਕੰਤੁ ਵਿਸਾਰੇ ॥ pir jagajeevan kis no roeeai rovai kant visaare | He is my Beloved Husband Lord, the Life of the World - for whom should I weep? They alone weep, who forget their Husband Lord. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਆਪਿ ਉਪਾਇਓਨੁ ਆਵਣੁ ਜਾਣੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੇ ॥੨॥ sabh jag aap upaaeon aavan jaan sansaare |2| He Himself created the whole world; the world comes and goes. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਭੂਲੀ ਫਿਰੈ ਧਨ ਇਆਣੀਆ ਰੰਡ ਬੈਠੀ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਏ ॥ bhoolee firai dhan eaaneea randd baitthee doojai bhaae | The ignorant soul-bride wanders in delusion; in the love of duality, she sits like a widow. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਰੰਡ ਬੈਠੀ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਏ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ਆਵ ਘਟੈ ਤਨੁ ਛੀਜੈ ॥ randd baitthee doojai bhaae maaeaa mohi dukh paae aav ghattai tan chheejai | She sits like a widow, in the love of duality; through emotional attachment to Maya, she suffers in pain. She is growing old, and her body is withering away. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਆਇਆ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਜਾਸੀ ਦੁਖੁ ਲਾਗਾ ਭਾਇ ਦੂਜੈ ॥ jo kichh aaeaa sabh kichh jaasee dukh laagaa bhaae doojai | Whatever has come, all that shall pass away; through the love of duality, they suffer in pain. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਜਮਕਾਲੁ ਨ ਸੂਝੈ ਮਾਇਆ ਜਗੁ ਲੂਝੈ ਲਬਿ ਲੋਭਿ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਏ ॥ jamakaal na soojhai maaeaa jag loojhai lab lobh chit laae | They do not see the Messenger of Death; they long for Maya, and their consciousness is attached to greed. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸੋ ਪਿਰੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਸਾਚਾ ਨਾ ਓਹੁ ਮਰੈ ਨ ਜਾਏ ॥੩॥ so pir saachaa sad hee saachaa naa ohu marai na jaae |3| That Husband Lord is True, forever True; He does not die, and He does not leave. ||3|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਇਕਿ ਰੋਵਹਿ ਪਿਰਹਿ ਵਿਛੁੰਨੀਆ ਅੰਧੀ ਨਾ ਜਾਣੈ ਪਿਰੁ ਨਾਲੇ ॥ eik roveh pireh vichhuneea andhee naa jaanai pir naale | Some weep and wail, separated from their Husband Lord; the blind ones do not know that their Husband is with them. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਸਾਚਾ ਪਿਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਦਾ ਸਮਾਲੇ ॥ gur parasaadee saachaa pir milai antar sadaa samaale | By Guru’s Grace, they may meet with their True Husband, and cherish Him always deep within. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਪਿਰੁ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਮਾਲੇ ਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਨਾਲੇ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਤਾ ਦੂਰੇ ॥ pir antar samaale sadaa hai naale manamukh jaataa doore | She cherishes her Husband deep within herself - He is always with her; the self-willed manmukhs think that He is far away. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਇਹੁ ਤਨੁ ਰੁਲੈ ਰੁਲਾਇਆ ਕਾਮਿ ਨ ਆਇਆ ਜਿਨਿ ਖਸਮੁ ਨ ਜਾਤਾ ਹਦੂਰੇ ॥ eihu tan rulai rulaaeaa kaam na aaeaa jin khasam na jaataa hadoore | This body rolls in the dust, and is totally useless; it does not realize the Presence of the Lord and Master. - Guru Amardas Ji
