ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲਿ ॥ guramukh man mere naam samaal | As Gurmukh, O my mind, remember the Naam, the Name of the Lord. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਦਾ ਨਿਬਹੈ ਚਲੈ ਤੇਰੈ ਨਾਲਿ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ sadaa nibahai chalai terai naal | rahaau | It shall stand by you always, and go with you. ||Pause|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਤਿ ਪਤਿ ਸਚੁ ਸੋਇ ॥ guramukh jaat pat sach soe | The True Lord is the social status and honor of the Gurmukh. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਖਾਈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥ guramukh antar sakhaaee prabh hoe |2| Within the Gurmukh, is God, his friend and helper. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਆਪਿ ਕਰੇ ਸੋ ਹੋਇ ॥ guramukh jis no aap kare so hoe | He alone becomes Gurmukh, whom the Lord so blesses. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਆਪਿ ਵਡਾਈ ਦੇਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥੩॥ guramukh aap vaddaaee devai soe |3| He Himself blesses the Gurmukh with greatness. ||3|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਸਚੁ ਕਰਣੀ ਸਾਰੁ ॥ guramukh sabad sach karanee saar | The Gurmukh lives the True Word of the Shabad, and practices good deeds. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਰਵਾਰੈ ਸਾਧਾਰੁ ॥੪॥੬॥ guramukh naanak paravaarai saadhaar |4|6| The Gurmukh, O Nanak, emancipates his family and relations. ||4||6|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਰਸਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਸਾਦਿ ਲਗੀ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥ rasanaa har saad lagee sehaj subhaae | My tongue is intuitively attracted to the taste of the Lord. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਮਨੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ॥੧॥ man tripatiaa har naam dhiaae |1| My mind is satisfied, meditating on the Name of the Lord. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਸਾਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ॥ sadaa sukh saachai sabad veechaaree | Lasting peace is obtained, contemplating the Shabad, the True Word of God. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਆਪਣੇ ਸਤਗੁਰ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਸਦਾ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ aapane satagur vittahu sadaa balihaaree |1| rahaau | I am forever a sacrifice to my True Guru. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਅਖੀ ਸੰਤੋਖੀਆ ਏਕ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥ akhee santokheea ek liv laae | My eyes are content, lovingly focused on the One Lord. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਮਨੁ ਸੰਤੋਖਿਆ ਦੂਜਾ ਭਾਉ ਗਵਾਇ ॥੨॥ man santokhiaa doojaa bhaau gavaae |2| My mind is content, having forsaken the love of duality. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਦੇਹ ਸਰੀਰਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਇ ॥ deh sareer sukh hovai sabad har naae | The frame of my body is at peace, through the Shabad, and the Name of the Lord. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਮਲੁ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੩॥ naam paramal hiradai rahiaa samaae |3| The fragrance of the Naam permeates my heart. ||3|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਜਿਸੁ ਵਡਭਾਗੁ ॥ naanak masatak jis vaddabhaag | O Nanak, one who has such great destiny written upon his forehead, - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਹਜ ਬੈਰਾਗੁ ॥੪॥੭॥ gur kee baanee sehaj bairaag |4|7| through the Bani of the Guru’s Word, easily and intuitively becomes free of desire. ||4||7|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਇ ॥ poore gur te naam paaeaa jaae | From the Perfect Guru, the Naam is obtained. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੧॥ sachai sabad sach samaae |1| Through the Shabad, the True Word of God, one merges in the True Lord. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਏ ਮਨ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਤੂ ਪਾਇ ॥ e man naam nidhaan too paae | O my soul, obtain the treasure of the Naam, - Guru Amardas Ji
ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਮੰਨਿ ਲੈ ਰਜਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ aapane gur kee man lai rajaae |1| rahaau | by submitting to the Will of your Guru. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਮੈਲੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥ gur kai sabad vichahu mail gavaae | Through the Word of the Guru’s Shabad, filth is washed away from within. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥੨॥ niramal naam vasai man aae |2| The Immaculate Naam comes to abide within the mind. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਭਰਮੇ ਭੂਲਾ ਫਿਰੈ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥ bharame bhoolaa firai sansaar | Deluded by doubt, the world wanders around. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਮਰਿ ਜਨਮੈ ਜਮੁ ਕਰੇ ਖੁਆਰੁ ॥੩॥ mar janamai jam kare khuaar |3| It dies, and is born again, and is ruined by the Messenger of Death. ||3|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥ naanak se vaddabhaagee jin har naam dhiaaeaa | O Nanak, very fortunate are those who meditate on the Name of the Lord. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੮॥ gur parasaadee man vasaaeaa |4|8| By Guru’s Grace, they enshrine the Name within their minds. ||4||8|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਹਉਮੈ ਨਾਵੈ ਨਾਲਿ ਵਿਰੋਧੁ ਹੈ ਦੁਇ ਨ ਵਸਹਿ ਇਕ ਠਾਇ ॥ haumai naavai naal virodh hai due na vaseh ik tthaae | Ego is opposed to the Name of the Lord; the two do not dwell in the same place. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਸੇਵਾ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਤਾ ਮਨੁ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥ haumai vich sevaa na hovee taa man birathaa jaae |1| In egotism, selfless service cannot be performed, and so the soul goes unfulfilled. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਚੇਤਿ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਤੂ ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਕਮਾਇ ॥ har chet man mere too gur kaa sabad kamaae | O my mind, think of the Lord, and practice the Word of the Guru’s Shabad. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹੁਕਮੁ ਮੰਨਹਿ ਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਤਾ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਹਉਮੈ ਜਾਇ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ hukam maneh taa har milai taa vichahu haumai jaae | rahaau | If you submit to the Hukam of the Lord’s Command, then you shall meet with the Lord; only then will your ego depart from within. ||Pause|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹਉਮੈ ਸਭੁ ਸਰੀਰੁ ਹੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਓਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥ haumai sabh sareer hai haumai opat hoe | Egotism is within all bodies; through egotism, we come to be born. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹਉਮੈ ਵਡਾ ਗੁਬਾਰੁ ਹੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਬੁਝਿ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਕੋਇ ॥੨॥ haumai vaddaa gubaar hai haumai vich bujh na sakai koe |2| Egotism is total darkness; in egotism, no one can understand anything. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਨ ਬੁਝਿਆ ਜਾਇ ॥ haumai vich bhagat na hovee hukam na bujhiaa jaae | In egotism, devotional worship cannot be performed, and the Hukam of the Lord’s Command cannot be understood. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਜੀਉ ਬੰਧੁ ਹੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥੩॥ haumai vich jeeo bandh hai naam na vasai man aae |3| In egotism, the soul is in bondage, and the Naam, the Name of the Lord, does not come to abide in the mind. ||3|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਤਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਹਉਮੈ ਗਈ ਤਾ ਸਚੁ ਵਸਿਆ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥ naanak satagur miliai haumai gee taa sach vasiaa man aae | O Nanak, meeting with the True Guru, egotism is eliminated, and then, the True Lord comes to dwell in the mind|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਚੁ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਸਚਿ ਰਹੈ ਸਚੇ ਸੇਵਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੪॥੯॥੧੨॥ sach kamaavai sach rahai sache sev samaae |4|9|12| One starts practicing truth, abides in truth and by serving the True One gets absorbed in Him. ||4||9||12|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਸੇਜ ਏਕ ਏਕੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ॥ sej ek eko prabh tthaakur | There is one bed, and One Lord God. - Guru Ramdas Ji
