ਕਰਿ ਮਜਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਸਰੇ ਸਭਿ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਨਾਸੁ ਮਨਾ ॥ kar majan har sare sabh kilabikh naas manaa | Take your cleansing bath in the Ambrosial Pool of the Lord, and all of your sins shall be wiped away, O my soul. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਰਿ ਸਦਾ ਮਜਨੁ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਜਨੁ ਦੁਖ ਅੰਧੇਰਾ ਨਾਸੇ ॥ kar sadaa majan gobind sajan dukh andheraa naase | Take your cleansing ever in the Lord God, O friends, and the pain of darkness shall be dispelled. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣੁ ਨ ਹੋਇ ਤਿਸ ਕਉ ਕਟੈ ਜਮ ਕੇ ਫਾਸੇ ॥ janam maran na hoe tis kau kattai jam ke faase | Birth and death shall not touch you, and the noose of Death shall be cut away. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮਿਲੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗੇ ਨਾਮ ਰੰਗੇ ਤਹਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਆਸੋ ॥ mil saadhasange naam range tahaa pooran aaso | So join the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, and be imbued with the Naam, the Name of the Lord; there, your hopes shall be fulfilled. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਧਾਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣ ਕਮਲ ਨਿਵਾਸੋ ॥੧॥ binavant naanak dhaar kirapaa har charan kamal nivaaso |1| Prays Nanak, shower Your Mercy upon me, O Lord, that I might dwell at Your Lotus Feet. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤਹ ਅਨਦ ਬਿਨੋਦ ਸਦਾ ਅਨਹਦ ਝੁਣਕਾਰੋ ਰਾਮ ॥ teh anad binod sadaa anahad jhunakaaro raam | There is bliss and ecstasy there always, and the unstruck celestial melody resounds there. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮਿਲਿ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾ ਜੈਕਾਰੋ ਰਾਮ ॥ mil gaaveh sant janaa prabh kaa jaikaaro raam | Meeting together, the Saints sing God’s Praises, and celebrate His Victory. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮਿਲਿ ਸੰਤ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਖਸਮ ਭਾਵਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਰਸ ਰੰਗਿ ਭਿੰਨੀਆ ॥ mil sant gaaveh khasam bhaaveh har prem ras rang bhineea | Meeting together, the Saints sing the Praises of the Lord Master; they are pleasing to the Lord, and saturated with the sublime essence of His love and affection. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਰਿ ਲਾਭੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਆਪੁ ਮਿਟਾਇਆ ਮਿਲੇ ਚਿਰੀ ਵਿਛੁੰਨਿਆ ॥ har laabh paaeaa aap mittaaeaa mile chiree vichhuniaa | They obtain the profit of the Lord, eliminate their self-conceit, and meet Him, from whom they were separated for so long. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗਹਿ ਭੁਜਾ ਲੀਨੇ ਦਇਆ ਕੀਨੑੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਏਕ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰੋ ॥ geh bhujaa leene deaa keenae prabh ek agam apaaro | Taking them by the arm, He makes them His own; God, the One, inaccessible and infinite, bestows His kindness. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਦਾ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸਚੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਰੁਣ ਝੁਣਕਾਰੋ ॥੨॥ binavant naanak sadaa niramal sach sabad run jhunakaaro |2| Prays Nanak, forever immaculate are those who sing the Praises of the True Word of the Shabad. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੁਣਿ ਵਡਭਾਗੀਆ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਣੀ ਰਾਮ ॥ sun vaddabhaageea har amrit baanee raam | Listen, O most fortunate ones, to the Ambrosial Bani of the Word of the Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਕਰਮਿ ਲਿਖੀ ਤਿਸੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਸਮਾਣੀ ਰਾਮ ॥ jin kau karam likhee tis ridai samaanee raam | He alone, whose karma is so pre-ordained, has it enter into his heart. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਅਕਥ ਕਹਾਣੀ ਤਿਨੀ ਜਾਣੀ ਜਿਸੁ ਆਪਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੇ ॥ akath kahaanee tinee jaanee jis aap prabh kirapaa kare | He alone knows the Unspoken Speech, unto whom God has shown His Mercy. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਅਮਰੁ ਥੀਆ ਫਿਰਿ ਨ ਮੂਆ ਕਲਿ ਕਲੇਸਾ ਦੁਖ ਹਰੇ ॥ amar theea fir na mooaa kal kalesaa dukh hare | He becomes immortal, and shall not die again; his troubles, disputes and pains are dispelled. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਰਿ ਸਰਣਿ ਪਾਈ ਤਜਿ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਭਾਣੀ ॥ har saran paaee taj na jaaee prabh preet man tan bhaanee | He finds the Sanctuary of the Lord; he does not forsake the Lord, and does not leave. God’s Love is pleasing to his mind and body. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਦਾ ਗਾਈਐ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਣੀ ॥੩॥ binavant naanak sadaa gaaeeai pavitr amrit baanee |3| Prays Nanak, sing forever the Sacred Ambrosial Bani of His Word. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮਨ ਤਨ ਗਲਤੁ ਭਏ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਰਾਮ ॥ man tan galat bhe kichh kehan na jaaee raam | My mind and body are intoxicated - this state cannot be described. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਿਸ ਤੇ ਉਪਜਿਅੜਾ ਤਿਨਿ ਲੀਆ ਸਮਾਈ ਰਾਮ ॥ jis te upajiarraa tin leea samaaee raam | We originated from Him, and into Him we shall merge once again. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮਿਲਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਜੋਤੀ ਓਤਿ ਪੋਤੀ ਉਦਕੁ ਉਦਕਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥ mil braham jotee ot potee udak udak samaaeaa | I merge into God’s Light, through and through, like water merging into water. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਏਕੁ ਰਵਿਆ ਨਹ ਦੂਜਾ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਾਇਆ ॥ jal thal maheeal ek raviaa neh doojaa drisattaaeaa | The One Lord permeates the water, the land and the sky - I do not see any other. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬਣਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਣਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣਿ ਪੂਰਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥ ban trin tribhavan poor pooran keemat kehan na jaaee | He is totally permeating the woods, meadows and the three worlds. I cannot express His worth. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪਿ ਜਾਣੈ ਜਿਨਿ ਏਹ ਬਣਤ ਬਣਾਈ ॥੪॥੨॥੫॥ binavant naanak aap jaanai jin eeh banat banaaee |4|2|5| Prays Nanak, He alone knows - He who created this creation. ||4||2||5|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਖੋਜਤ ਸੰਤ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਅਧਾਰੇ ਰਾਮ ॥ khojat sant fireh prabh praan adhaare raam | The Saints go around, searching for God, the support of their breath of life. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤਾਣੁ ਤਨੁ ਖੀਨ ਭਇਆ ਬਿਨੁ ਮਿਲਤ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਰਾਮ ॥ taan tan kheen bheaa bin milat piaare raam | They lose the strength of their bodies, if they do not merge with their Beloved Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮਿਲਹੁ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਮਇਆ ਧਾਰੇ ਕਰਿ ਦਇਆ ਲੜਿ ਲਾਇ ਲੀਜੀਐ ॥ prabh milahu piaare meaa dhaare kar deaa larr laae leejeeai | O God, my Beloved, please, bestow Your kindness upon me, that I may merge with You; by Your Mercy, attach me to the hem of Your robe. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਦੇਹਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਪਨਾ ਜਪਉ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸ ਪੇਖੇ ਜੀਜੀਐ ॥ dehi naam apanaa jpau suaamee har daras pekhe jeejeeai | Bless me with Your Name, that I may chant it, O Lord and Master; beholding the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan, I live. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਮਰਥ ਪੂਰਨ ਸਦਾ ਨਿਹਚਲ ਊਚ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰੇ ॥ samarath pooran sadaa nihachal aooch agam apaare | He is all-powerful, perfect, eternal and unchanging, exalted, unapproachable and infinite. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਜਪ ਤਪ ਬਰਤ ਕੀਨੇ ਪੇਖਨ ਕਉ ਚਰਣਾ ਰਾਮ ॥ jap tap barat keene pekhan kau charanaa raam | I have practiced chanting, intensive meditation and fasting, to see Your Feet, O Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤਪਤਿ ਨ ਕਤਹਿ ਬੁਝੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸਰਣਾ ਰਾਮ ॥ tapat na kateh bujhai bin suaamee saranaa raam | But still, my burning is not quenched, without the Sanctuary of the Lord Master. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਰਣਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਕਾਟਿ ਬੇਰੀ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਤਾਰੀਐ ॥ prabh saran teree kaatt beree sansaar saagar taareeai | I seek Your Sanctuary, God - please, cut away my bonds and carry me across the world-ocean. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਅਨਾਥ ਨਿਰਗੁਨਿ ਕਛੁ ਨ ਜਾਨਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਗੁਣੁ ਅਉਗਣੁ ਨ ਬੀਚਾਰੀਐ ॥ anaath niragun kachh na jaanaa meraa gun aaugan na beechaareeai | I am masterless, worthless, and I know nothing; please do not count up my merits and demerits. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਸਮਰਥ ਕਾਰਣ ਕਰਣਾ ॥ deen deaal gopaal preetam samarath kaaran karanaa | O Lord, Merciful to the meek, Sustainer of the world, O Beloved, Almighty Cause of causes. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਚਾਤ੍ਰਿਕ ਹਰਿ ਬੂੰਦ ਮਾਗੈ ਜਪਿ ਜੀਵਾ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣਾ ॥੨॥ naanak chaatrik har boond maagai jap jeevaa har har charanaa |2| Nanak, the song-bird, begs for the rain-drop of the Lord’s Name; meditating on the Feet of the Lord, Har, Har, he lives. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
