ਮੈ ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਪੇਖਿਓ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਰੀ ਕੋਊ ॥ mai bahu bidh pekhio doojaa naahee ree koaoo | I have looked in so many ways, but there is no other like the Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਖੰਡ ਦੀਪ ਸਭ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਰਵਿਆ ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਸਭ ਲੋਊ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ khandd deep sabh bheetar raviaa poor rahio sabh loaoo |1| rahaau | On all the continents and islands, He is permeating and fully pervading; He is in all worlds. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਅਗਮ ਅਗੰਮਾ ਕਵਨ ਮਹਿੰਮਾ ਮਨੁ ਜੀਵੈ ਸੁਨਿ ਸੋਊ ॥ agam agamaa kavan mahinmaa man jeevai sun soaoo | He is the most unfathomable of the unfathomable; who can chant His Praises? My mind lives by hearing news of Him. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਚਾਰਿ ਆਸਰਮ ਚਾਰਿ ਬਰੰਨਾ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਭਏ ਸੇਵਤੋਊ ॥੧॥ chaar aasaram chaar baranaa mukat bhe sevatoaoo |1| People in the four stages of life, and in the four social classes are liberated, by serving You, Lord. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗੁਰਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਆ ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਦੁਤੀਅ ਗਏ ਸੁਖ ਹੋਊ ॥ gur sabad drirraaeaa param pad paaeaa duteea ge sukh hoaoo | The Guru has implanted the Word of His Shabad within me; I have attained the supreme status. My sense of duality has been dispelled, and now, I am at peace. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਭਵ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਤਰਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਧਿ ਪਾਈ ਸਹਜੋਊ ॥੨॥੨॥੩੩॥ kahu naanak bhav saagar tariaa har nidh paaee sahajoaoo |2|2|33| Says Nanak, I have easily crossed over the terrifying world-ocean, obtaining the treasure of the Lord’s Name. ||2||2||33|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਏਕੈ ਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਏਕੈ ਜਾਨ ॥ ekai re har ekai jaan | Know that there is One and only One Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਏਕੈ ਰੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ekai re guramukh jaan |1| rahaau | O Gurmukh, know that He is One. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਾਹੇ ਭ੍ਰਮਤ ਹਉ ਤੁਮ ਭ੍ਰਮਹੁ ਨ ਭਾਈ ਰਵਿਆ ਰੇ ਰਵਿਆ ਸ੍ਰਬ ਥਾਨ ॥੧॥ kaahe bhramat hau tum bhramahu na bhaaee raviaa re raviaa srab thaan |1| Why are you wandering around? O Siblings of Destiny, don’t wander around; He is permeating and pervading everywhere. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਿਉ ਬੈਸੰਤਰੁ ਕਾਸਟ ਮਝਾਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਸੰਜਮ ਨਹੀ ਕਾਰਜ ਸਾਰਿ ॥ jiau baisantar kaasatt majhaar bin sanjam nahee kaaraj saar | As the fire in the forest, without control, cannot serve any purpose - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਨ ਪਾਵੈਗੋ ਹਰਿ ਜੀ ਕੋ ਦੁਆਰ ॥ bin gur na paavaigo har jee ko duaar | just so, without the Guru, one cannot attain the Gate of the Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮਿਲਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਤਜਿ ਅਭਿਮਾਨ ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਾਏ ਹੈ ਪਰਮ ਨਿਧਾਨ ॥੨॥੧॥੩੪॥ mil sangat taj abhimaan kahu naanak paae hai param nidhaan |2|1|34| Joining the Society of the Saints, renounce your ego; says Nanak, in this way, the supreme treasure is obtained. ||2||1||34|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਕਹ ਪੇਖਾਰਉ ਹਉ ਕਰਿ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ਬਿਸਮਨ ਬਿਸਮੇ ਕਹਨ ਕਹਾਤਿ ॥੧॥ keh pekhaarau hau kar chaturaaee bisaman bisame kehan kahaat |1| How can I behold Him through clever tricks? Those who tell this story are wonder-struck and amazed. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗਣ ਗੰਧਰਬ ਸਿਧ ਅਰੁ ਸਾਧਿਕ ॥ gan gandharab sidh ar saadhik | The servants of God, the celestial singers, the Siddhas and the seekers, - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੁਰਿ ਨਰ ਦੇਵ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾਦਿਕ ॥ sur nar dev braham brahamaadik | the angelic and divine beings, Brahma and those like Brahma, - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਚਤੁਰ ਬੇਦ ਉਚਰਤ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤਿ ॥ chatur bed ucharat din raat | and the four Vedas proclaim, day and night, - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਅਗਮ ਅਗਮ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਆਗਾਧਿ ॥ agam agam tthaakur aagaadh | that the Lord and Master is inaccessible, unapproachable and unfathomable. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗੁਨ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਭਨੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਹਨੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਪਰੈ ਪਰਾਤਿ ॥੨॥੨॥੩੫॥ gun beant beant bhan naanak kehan na jaaee parai paraat |2|2|35| Endless, endless are His Glories, says Nanak; they cannot be described - they are beyond our reach. ||2||2||35|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਭਉ ਨਾਹੀ ਸੁਖ ਸਹਜ ਅਨੰਦਾ ਅਨਿਕ ਓਹੀ ਰੇ ਏਕ ਸਮਾਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ bhau naahee sukh sehaj anandaa anik ohee re ek samaar |1| rahaau | I have become fearless, and I have found peace, poise and bliss, remembering the infinite Lord. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਫਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਰੈ ਮਾਥੈ ॥ safal moorat gur merai maathai | The Guru, of the most fruitful image, has placed His hand upon my forehead. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਤ ਕਤ ਪੇਖਉ ਤਤ ਤਤ ਸਾਥੈ ॥ jat kat pekhau tat tat saathai | Wherever I look, there, I find Him with me. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਅਧਾਰ ॥੧॥ charan kamal mere praan adhaar |1| The Lotus Feet of the Lord are the Support of my very breath of life. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਮਰਥ ਅਥਾਹ ਬਡਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮੇਰਾ ॥ samarath athaah baddaa prabh meraa | My God is all-powerful, unfathomable and utterly vast. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਘਟ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਨੇਰਾ ॥ ghatt ghatt antar saahib neraa | The Lord and Master is close at hand - He dwells in each and every heart. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤਾਕੀ ਸਰਨਿ ਆਸਰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਰਾਵਾਰ ॥੨॥੩॥੩੬॥ taakee saran aasar prabh naanak jaa kaa ant na paaraavaar |2|3|36| Nanak seeks the Sanctuary and the Support of God, who has no end or limitation. ||2||3||36|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਉਲਟੀ ਰੇ ਮਨ ਉਲਟੀ ਰੇ ॥ aulattee re man ulattee re | Turn away, O my mind, turn away. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਾਕਤ ਸਿਉ ਕਰਿ ਉਲਟੀ ਰੇ ॥ saakat siau kar ulattee re | Turn away from the faithless cynic. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਝੂਠੈ ਕੀ ਰੇ ਝੂਠੁ ਪਰੀਤਿ ਛੁਟਕੀ ਰੇ ਮਨ ਛੁਟਕੀ ਰੇ ਸਾਕਤ ਸੰਗਿ ਨ ਛੁਟਕੀ ਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ jhootthai kee re jhootth pareet chhuttakee re man chhuttakee re saakat sang na chhuttakee re |1| rahaau | False is the love of the false one; break the ties, O my mind, and your ties shall be broken. Break your ties with the faithless cynic. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਿਉ ਕਾਜਰ ਭਰਿ ਮੰਦਰੁ ਰਾਖਿਓ ਜੋ ਪੈਸੈ ਕਾਲੂਖੀ ਰੇ ॥ jiau kaajar bhar mandar raakhio jo paisai kaalookhee re | One who enters a house filled with soot is blackened. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਦੂਰਹੁ ਹੀ ਤੇ ਭਾਗਿ ਗਇਓ ਹੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਛੁਟਕੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਕੁਟੀ ਰੇ ॥੧॥ doorahu hee te bhaag geo hai jis gur mil chhuttakee trikuttee re |1| Run far away from such people! One who meets the Guru escapes from the bondage of the three dispositions. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
