ਕਰਹੁ ਅਨੁਗ੍ਰਹੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਤੇ ਕਬਹੁ ਨ ਡਾਰਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ karahu anugrahu suaamee mere man te kabahu na ddaarau |1| rahaau | Be Merciful to me, O my Lord and Master, that I might never forsake them from my mind. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਾਧੂ ਧੂਰਿ ਲਾਈ ਮੁਖਿ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਬਿਖੁ ਜਾਰਉ ॥ saadhoo dhoor laaee mukh masatak kaam krodh bikh jaarau | Applying the dust of the feet of the Holy to my face and forehead, I burn away the poison of sexual desire and anger. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਭ ਤੇ ਨੀਚੁ ਆਤਮ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਨਉ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਇਹੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਧਾਰਉ ॥੧॥ sabh te neech aatam kar maanau man meh ihu sukh dhaarau |1| I judge myself to be the lowest of all; in this way, I instill peace within my mind. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵਹ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਕਲਮਲ ਸਗਲੇ ਝਾਰਉ ॥ gun gaavah tthaakur abinaasee kalamal sagale jhaarau | I sing the Glorious Praises of the Imperishable Lord and Master, and I shake off all my sins. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਮ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਨੁ ਪਾਵਉ ਕੰਠਿ ਲਾਇ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰਉ ॥੨॥੧੯॥ naam nidhaan naanak daan paavau kantth laae ur dhaarau |2|19| I have found the gift of the treasure of the Naam, O Nanak; I hug it close, and enshrine it in my heart. ||2||19|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਸੁੰਦਰ ਧਿਆਨੁ ਧਾਰੁ ਦਿਨੁ ਰੈਨੀ ਜੀਅ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਤੇ ਪਿਆਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ sundar dhiaan dhaar din rainee jeea praan te piaaraa |1| rahaau | I cherish this beautiful meditation day and night; You are dearer to me than my soul, dearer than life itself. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਬੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਨ ਅਵਿਲੋਕੇ ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਤਤੁ ਬੀਚਾਰਾ ॥ saasatr bed puraan aviloke simrit tat beechaaraa | I have studied and contemplated the essence of the Shaastras, the Vedas and the Puraanas. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਦੀਨਾ ਨਾਥ ਪ੍ਰਾਨਪਤਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਭਵਜਲ ਉਧਰਨਹਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ deenaa naath praanapat pooran bhavajal udharanahaaraa |1| Protector of the meek, Lord of the breath of life, O Perfect One, carry us across the terrifying world-ocean. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਆਦਿ ਜੁਗਾਦਿ ਭਗਤ ਜਨ ਸੇਵਕ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਬਿਖੈ ਅਧਾਰਾ ॥ aad jugaad bhagat jan sevak taa kee bikhai adhaaraa | Since the very beginning, and throughout the ages, the humble devotees have been Your servants; in the midst of the world of corruption, You are their Support. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤਿਨ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਧੂਰਿ ਬਾਛੈ ਨਿਤ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਦੇਵਨਹਾਰਾ ॥੨॥੨੦॥ tin jan kee dhoor baachhai nit naanak paramesar devanahaaraa |2|20| Nanak longs for the dust of the feet of such humble beings; the Transcendent Lord is the Giver of all. ||2||20|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਰਸਾ ਨਿਧਿ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਉਪਜੀ ਛੋਡਿ ਨ ਕਤਹੂ ਜਾਤਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ prem rasaa nidh jaa kau upajee chhodd na katahoo jaataa |1| rahaau | One who obtains the treasure of the Nectar of Your Love, does not renounce it to go somewhere else. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬੈਠਤ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੋਵਤ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਖਾਤਾ ॥ baitthat har har sovat har har har ras bhojan khaataa | While sitting, he repeats the Lord’s Name, Har, Har; while sleeping, he repeats the Lord’s Name, Har, Har; he eats the Nectar of the Lord’s Name as his food. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਅਠਸਠਿ ਤੀਰਥ ਮਜਨੁ ਕੀਨੋ ਸਾਧੂ ਧੂਰੀ ਨਾਤਾ ॥੧॥ atthasatth teerath majan keeno saadhoo dhooree naataa |1| Bathing in the dust of the feet of the Holy is equal to taking cleansing baths at the sixty-eight sacred shrines of pilgrimage. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਫਲੁ ਜਨਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਕਾ ਉਪਜਿਆ ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਨੋ ਸਉਤੁ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ॥ safal janam har jan kaa upajiaa jin keeno saut bidhaataa | How fruitful is the birth of the Lord’s humble servant; the Creator is his Father. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਗਲ ਸਮੂਹ ਲੈ ਉਧਰੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਪੂਰਨ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਛਾਤਾ ॥੨॥੨੧॥ sagal samooh lai udhare naanak pooran braham pachhaataa |2|21| O Nanak, one who recognizes the Perfect Lord God, takes all with him, and saves everyone. ||2||21|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਮਾਈ ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ॥ maaee gur bin giaan na paaeeai | O mother, without the Guru, spiritual wisdom is not obtained. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਅਨਿਕ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਫਿਰਤ ਬਿਲਲਾਤੇ ਮਿਲਤ ਨਹੀ ਗੋਸਾਈਐ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ anik prakaar firat bilalaate milat nahee gosaaeeai |1| rahaau | They wander around, weeping and crying out in various ways, but the Lord of the World does not meet them. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮੋਹ ਰੋਗ ਸੋਗ ਤਨੁ ਬਾਧਿਓ ਬਹੁ ਜੋਨੀ ਭਰਮਾਈਐ ॥ moh rog sog tan baadhio bahu jonee bharamaaeeai | The body is tied up with emotional attachment, disease and sorrow, and so it is lured into countless reincarnations. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਟਿਕਨੁ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਕਿਸੁ ਆਗੈ ਜਾਇ ਰੂਆਈਐ ॥੧॥ ttikan na paavai bin satasangat kis aagai jaae rooaaeeai |1| He finds no place of rest without the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy; to whom should he go and cry? ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਰੈ ਅਨੁਗ੍ਰਹੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਾਧ ਚਰਨ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਈਐ ॥ karai anugrahu suaamee meraa saadh charan chit laaeeai | When my Lord and Master shows His Mercy, we lovingly focus our consciousness on the feet of the Holy. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੰਕਟ ਘੋਰ ਕਟੇ ਖਿਨ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸਿ ਸਮਾਈਐ ॥੨॥੨੨॥ sankatt ghor katte khin bheetar naanak har daras samaaeeai |2|22| The most horrible agonies are dispelled in an instant, O Nanak, and we merge in the Blessed Vision of the Lord. ||2||22|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਭਈ ਕਲਿਆਣ ਅਨੰਦ ਰੂਪ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ਉਬਰੇ ਬਾਲ ਗੁਪਾਲ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ bhee kaliaan anand roop hoee hai ubare baal gupaal | rahaau | I have been emancipated, and I have become the embodiment of bliss; I am the Lord’s child - He has saved me. ||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਦੁਇ ਕਰ ਜੋੜਿ ਕਰੀ ਬੇਨੰਤੀ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਮਨਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥ due kar jorr karee benantee paarabraham man dhiaaeaa | With my palms pressed together, I offer my prayer; within my mind, I meditate on the Supreme Lord God. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਾਥੁ ਦੇਇ ਰਾਖੇ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰਿ ਸਗਲਾ ਦੁਰਤੁ ਮਿਟਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ haath dee raakhe paramesur sagalaa durat mittaaeaa |1| Giving me His hand, the Transcendent Lord has eradicated all my sins. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਵਰ ਨਾਰੀ ਮਿਲਿ ਮੰਗਲੁ ਗਾਇਆ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਕਾ ਜੈਕਾਰੁ ॥ var naaree mil mangal gaaeaa tthaakur kaa jaikaar | Husband and wife join together in rejoicing, celebrating the Victory of the Lord Master. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨ ਕਉ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈਐ ਜੋ ਸਭਨਾ ਕਰੇ ਉਧਾਰੁ ॥੨॥੨੩॥ kahu naanak jan kau bal jaaeeai jo sabhanaa kare udhaar |2|23| Says Nanak, I am a sacrifice to the humble servant of the Lord, who emancipates everyone. ||2||23|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
