ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨ ਹੀ ਤੇ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ਨਾ ਕਿਛੁ ਮਰੈ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥੨॥ naanak man hee te man maaniaa naa kichh marai na jaae |2| O Nanak, through the mind, the mind is satisfied, and then, nothing comes or goes. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਪਉੜੀ ॥ paurree | Pauree: - Guru Amardas Ji
ਕਾਇਆ ਕੋਟੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ਹੈ ਮਿਲਣਾ ਸੰਜੋਗੀ ॥ kaaeaa kott apaar hai milanaa sanjogee | The body is the fortress of the Infinite Lord; it is obtained only by destiny. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਵਸਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਆਪੇ ਰਸ ਭੋਗੀ ॥ kaaeaa andar aap vas rahiaa aape ras bhogee | The Lord Himself dwells within the body; He Himself is the Enjoyer of pleasures. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਆਪਿ ਅਤੀਤੁ ਅਲਿਪਤੁ ਹੈ ਨਿਰਜੋਗੁ ਹਰਿ ਜੋਗੀ ॥ aap ateet alipat hai nirajog har jogee | He Himself remains detached and unaffected; while unattached, He is still attached. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਕਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਹੋਗੀ ॥ jo tis bhaavai so kare har kare su hogee | He does whatever He pleases, and whatever He does, comes to pass. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਹਿ ਵਿਜੋਗੀ ॥੧੩॥ har guramukh naam dhiaaeeai leh jaeh vijogee |13| The Gurmukh meditates on the Lord’s Name, and separation from the Lord is ended. ||13|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਆਪਿ ਅਖਾਇਦਾ ਗੁਰਸਬਦੀ ਸਚੁ ਸੋਇ ॥ vaahu vaahu aap akhaaeidaa gurasabadee sach soe | Waaho! Waaho! The Lord Himself causes us to praise Him, through the True Word of the Guru’s Shabad. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਸਿਫਤਿ ਸਲਾਹ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬੂਝੈ ਕੋਇ ॥ vaahu vaahu sifat salaah hai guramukh boojhai koe | Waaho! Waaho! is His Eulogy and Praise; how rare are the Gurmukhs who understand this. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਚੁ ਹੈ ਸਚਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਾ ਹੋਇ ॥ vaahu vaahu baanee sach hai sach milaavaa hoe | Waaho! Waaho! is the True Word of His Bani, by which we meet our True Lord. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਕਰਤਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਕਰਮਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥ naanak vaahu vaahu karatiaa prabh paaeaa karam paraapat hoe |1| O Nanak, chanting Waaho! Waaho! God is attained; by His Grace, He is obtained. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਕਰਤੀ ਰਸਨਾ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਹਾਈ ॥ vaahu vaahu karatee rasanaa sabad suhaaee | Chanting Waaho! Waaho! the tongue is adorned with the Word of the Shabad. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਪੂਰੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਆਈ ॥ poorai sabad prabh miliaa aaee | Through the Perfect Shabad, one comes to meet God. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਵਡਭਾਗੀਆ ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਮੁਹਹੁ ਕਢਾਈ ॥ vaddabhaageea vaahu vaahu muhahu kadtaaee | How very fortunate are those, who with their mouths, chant Waaho! Waaho! - Guru Amardas Ji
ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਸੇਈ ਜਨ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਤਿਨੑ ਕਉ ਪਰਜਾ ਪੂਜਣ ਆਈ ॥ vaahu vaahu kareh seee jan sohane tina kau parajaa poojan aaee | How beautiful are those persons who chant Waaho! Waaho! ; people come to venerate them. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਕਰਮਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਰਿ ਸਚੈ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਈ ॥੨॥ vaahu vaahu karam paraapat hovai naanak dar sachai sobhaa paaee |2| Waaho! Waaho! is obtained by His Grace; O Nanak, honor is obtained at the Gate of the True Lord. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਬਜਰ ਕਪਾਟ ਕਾਇਆ ਗੜੑ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਕੂੜੁ ਕੁਸਤੁ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੀ ॥ bajar kapaatt kaaeaa garra bheetar koorr kusat abhimaanee | Within the fortress of body, are the hard and rigid doors of falsehood, deception and pride. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਭਰਮਿ ਭੂਲੇ ਨਦਰਿ ਨ ਆਵਨੀ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਅੰਧ ਅਗਿਆਨੀ ॥ bharam bhoole nadar na aavanee manamukh andh agiaanee | Deluded by doubt, the blind and ignorant self-willed manmukhs cannot see them. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਉਪਾਇ ਕਿਤੈ ਨ ਲਭਨੀ ਕਰਿ ਭੇਖ ਥਕੇ ਭੇਖਵਾਨੀ ॥ aupaae kitai na labhanee kar bhekh thake bhekhavaanee | They cannot be found by any efforts; wearing their religious robes, the wearers have grown weary of trying. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰਸਬਦੀ ਖੋਲਾਈਅਨਿੑ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਾਨੀ ॥ gurasabadee kholaaeeana har naam japaanee | The doors are opened only by the Word of the Guru’s Shabad, and then, one chants the Name of the Lord. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਿਰਖੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਨ ਪੀਆ ਤੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਨੀ ॥੧੪॥ har jeeo amrit birakh hai jin peea te tripataanee |14| The Dear Lord is the Tree of Ambrosial Nectar; those who drink in this Nectar are satisfied. ||14|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਕਰਤਿਆ ਰੈਣਿ ਸੁਖਿ ਵਿਹਾਇ ॥ vaahu vaahu karatiaa rain sukh vihaae | Chanting Waaho! Waaho! the night of one’s life passes in peace. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਕਰਤਿਆ ਸਦਾ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਇ ॥ vaahu vaahu karatiaa sadaa anand hovai meree maae | Chanting Waaho! Waaho! I am in eternal bliss, O my mother! - Guru Amardas Ji
ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਕਰਤਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥ vaahu vaahu karatiaa har siau liv laae | Chanting Waaho! Waaho!, I have fallen in love with the Lord. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਕਰਮੀ ਬੋਲੈ ਬੋਲਾਇ ॥ vaahu vaahu karamee bolai bolaae | Waaho! Waaho! Through the karma of good deeds, I chant it, and inspire others to chant it as well. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਕਰਤਿਆ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਇ ॥ vaahu vaahu karatiaa sobhaa paae | Chanting Waaho! Waaho!, one obtains honor. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਸਤਿ ਰਜਾਇ ॥੧॥ naanak vaahu vaahu sat rajaae |1| O Nanak, Waaho! Waaho! is the Will of the True Lord. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਚੁ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਲਧੀ ਭਾਲਿ ॥ vaahu vaahu baanee sach hai guramukh ladhee bhaal | Waaho! Waaho! is the Bani of the True Word. Searching, the Gurmukhs have found it. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਸਬਦੇ ਉਚਰੈ ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਲਿ ॥ vaahu vaahu sabade ucharai vaahu vaahu hiradai naal | Waaho! Waaho! They chant the Word of the Shabad. Waaho! Waaho! They enshrine it in their hearts. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਕਰਤਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਹਜੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਭਾਲਿ ॥ vaahu vaahu karatiaa har paaeaa sahaje guramukh bhaal | Chanting Waaho! Waaho! the Gurmukhs easily obtain the Lord, after searching. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਿਦੈ ਸਮਾਲਿ ॥੨॥ se vaddabhaagee naanakaa har har ridai samaal |2| O Nanak, very fortunate are those who reflect upon the Lord, Har, Har, within their hearts. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਏ ਮਨਾ ਅਤਿ ਲੋਭੀਆ ਨਿਤ ਲੋਭੇ ਰਾਤਾ ॥ e manaa at lobheea nit lobhe raataa | O my utterly greedy mind, you are constantly engrossed in greed. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਮਾਇਆ ਮਨਸਾ ਮੋਹਣੀ ਦਹ ਦਿਸ ਫਿਰਾਤਾ ॥ maaeaa manasaa mohanee deh dis firaataa | In your desire for the enticing Maya, you wander in the ten directions. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਅਗੈ ਨਾਉ ਜਾਤਿ ਨ ਜਾਇਸੀ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਖਾਤਾ ॥ agai naau jaat na jaaeisee manamukh dukh khaataa | Your name and social status shall not go with you hereafter; the self-willed manmukh is consumed by pain. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਰਸਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਨ ਚਖਿਓ ਫੀਕਾ ਬੋਲਾਤਾ ॥ rasanaa har ras na chakhio feekaa bolaataa | Your tongue does not taste the sublime essence of the Lord; it utters only insipid words. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਜਿਨਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਚਾਖਿਆ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਤਾ ॥੧੫॥ jinaa guramukh amrit chaakhiaa se jan tripataataa |15| Those Gurmukhs who drink in the Ambrosial Nectar are satisfied. ||15|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਆਖੀਐ ਜਿ ਗੁਣਦਾਤਾ ਮਤਿ ਧੀਰੁ ॥ vaahu vaahu tis no aakheeai ji gunadaataa mat dheer | Chant Waaho! Waaho! to the Lord, who is the Giver of virtue, intelligence and patience. - Guru Amardas Ji
