ਸਨਕ ਸਨੰਦਨ ਨਾਰਦ ਮੁਨਿ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਜਪਤ ਰਹਹਿ ਬਨਵਾਰੀ ॥ sanak sanandan naarad mun seveh anadin japat raheh banavaaree | Sanak, Sanandan and Naarad the sage serve You; night and day, they continue to chant Your Name, O Lord of the jungle. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਸਰਣਾਗਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਹਲਾਦ ਜਨ ਆਏ ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਪੈਜ ਸਵਾਰੀ ॥੨॥ saranaagat prahalaad jan aae tin kee paij savaaree |2| Slave Prahlaad sought Your Sanctuary, and You saved his honor. ||2|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਅਲਖ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਏਕੋ ਵਰਤੈ ਏਕਾ ਜੋਤਿ ਮੁਰਾਰੀ ॥ alakh niranjan eko varatai ekaa jot muraaree | The One unseen immaculate Lord is pervading everywhere, as is the Light of the Lord. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਸਭਿ ਜਾਚਿਕ ਤੂ ਏਕੋ ਦਾਤਾ ਮਾਗਹਿ ਹਾਥ ਪਸਾਰੀ ॥੩॥ sabh jaachik too eko daataa maageh haath pasaaree |3| All are beggars, You alone are the Great Giver. Reaching out our hands, we beg from You. ||3|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ ਊਤਮ ਬਾਣੀ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਅਕਥ ਕਥਾ ਨਿਤ ਨਿਆਰੀ ॥ bhagat janaa kee aootam baanee gaaveh akath kathaa nit niaaree | The speech of the humble devotees is sublime; they sing continually the wondrous, Unspoken Speech of the Lord. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਸਫਲ ਜਨਮੁ ਭਇਆ ਤਿਨ ਕੇਰਾ ਆਪਿ ਤਰੇ ਕੁਲ ਤਾਰੀ ॥੪॥ safal janam bheaa tin keraa aap tare kul taaree |4| Their lives become fruitful; they save themselves, and all their generations. ||4|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਬਿਆਪੇ ਜਿਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਮੋਹ ਗੁਬਾਰੀ ॥ manamukh dubidhaa duramat biaape jin antar moh gubaaree | The self-willed manmukhs are engrossed in duality and evil-mindedness; within them is the darkness of attachment. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ ਕਥਾ ਨ ਭਾਵੈ ਓਇ ਡੂਬੇ ਸਣੁ ਪਰਵਾਰੀ ॥੫॥ sant janaa kee kathaa na bhaavai oe ddoobe san paravaaree |5| They do not love the sermon of the humble Saints, and they are drowned along with their families. ||5|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਨਿੰਦਕੁ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਿ ਮਲੁ ਧੋਵੈ ਓਹੁ ਮਲਭਖੁ ਮਾਇਆਧਾਰੀ ॥ nindak nindaa kar mal dhovai ohu malabhakh maaeaadhaaree | By slandering, the slanderer washes the filth off others; he is an eater of filth, and a worshipper of Maya. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਵਿਆਪੇ ਨਾ ਉਰਵਾਰਿ ਨ ਪਾਰੀ ॥੬॥ sant janaa kee nindaa viaape naa uravaar na paaree |6| He indulges in the slander of the humble Saints; he is neither on this shore, nor the shore beyond. ||6|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਏਹੁ ਪਰਪੰਚੁ ਖੇਲੁ ਕੀਆ ਸਭੁ ਕਰਤੈ ਹਰਿ ਕਰਤੈ ਸਭ ਕਲ ਧਾਰੀ ॥ ehu parapanch khel keea sabh karatai har karatai sabh kal dhaaree | All this worldly drama is set in motion by the Creator Lord; He has infused His almighty strength into all. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਏਕੋ ਸੂਤੁ ਵਰਤੈ ਜੁਗ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸੂਤੁ ਖਿੰਚੈ ਏਕੰਕਾਰੀ ॥੭॥ har eko soot varatai jug antar soot khinchai ekankaaree |7| The thread of the One Lord runs through the world; when He pulls out this thread, the One Creator alone remains. ||7|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਰਸਨਿ ਰਸਨਿ ਰਸਿ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਰਸਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਧਾਰੀ ॥ rasan rasan ras gaaveh har gun rasanaa har ras dhaaree | With their tongues, they sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, and savor Them. They place the sublime essence of the Lord upon their tongues, and savor it. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਮਾਗਉ ਹਰਿ ਰਸ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਪਿਆਰੀ ॥੮॥੧॥੭॥ naanak har bin avar na maagau har ras preet piaaree |8|1|7| O Nanak, other than the Lord, I ask for nothing else; I am in love with the Love of the Lord’s sublime essence. ||8||1||7|| - Guru Ramdas Ji

ਠਾਕੁਰ ਮਹਿ ਠਕੁਰਾਈ ਤੇਰੀ ਕੋਮਨ ਸਿਰਿ ਕੋਮਾ ॥੧॥ tthaakur meh tthakuraaee teree koman sir komaa |1| Among masters, You are the Master. Among tribes, Yours is the Supreme Tribe. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਸੁਖੀਅਨ ਮਹਿ ਸੁਖੀਆ ਤੂੰ ਕਹੀਅਹਿ ਦਾਤਨ ਸਿਰਿ ਦਾਤਾ ॥ sukheean meh sukheea toon kaheeeh daatan sir daataa | Among the peaceful, You are called the Peaceful One. Among givers, You are the Greatest Giver. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤੇਜਨ ਮਹਿ ਤੇਜਵੰਸੀ ਕਹੀਅਹਿ ਰਸੀਅਨ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਤਾ ॥੨॥ tejan meh tejavansee kaheeeh raseean meh raataa |2| Among the glorious, You are said to be the Most Glorious. Among revellers, You are the Reveller. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੂਰਨ ਮਹਿ ਸੂਰਾ ਤੂੰ ਕਹੀਅਹਿ ਭੋਗਨ ਮਹਿ ਭੋਗੀ ॥ sooran meh sooraa toon kaheeeh bhogan meh bhogee | Among warriors, You are called the Warrior. Among indulgers, You are the Indulger. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗ੍ਰਸਤਨ ਮਹਿ ਤੂੰ ਬਡੋ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਸਤੀ ਜੋਗਨ ਮਹਿ ਜੋਗੀ ॥੩॥ grasatan meh toon baddo grihasatee jogan meh jogee |3| Among householders, You are the Great Householder. Among yogis, You are the Yogi. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਰਤਨ ਮਹਿ ਤੂੰ ਕਰਤਾ ਕਹੀਅਹਿ ਆਚਾਰਨ ਮਹਿ ਆਚਾਰੀ ॥ karatan meh toon karataa kaheeeh aachaaran meh aachaaree | Among creators, You are called the Creator. Among the cultured, You are the Cultured One. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਾਹਨ ਮਹਿ ਤੂੰ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਾਹਾ ਵਾਪਾਰਨ ਮਹਿ ਵਾਪਾਰੀ ॥੪॥ saahan meh toon saachaa saahaa vaapaaran meh vaapaaree |4| Among bankers, You are the True Banker. Among merchants, You are the Merchant. ||4|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਦਰਬਾਰਨ ਮਹਿ ਤੇਰੋ ਦਰਬਾਰਾ ਸਰਨ ਪਾਲਨ ਟੀਕਾ ॥ darabaaran meh tero darabaaraa saran paalan tteekaa | Among courts, Yours is the Court. Yours is the Most Sublime of Sanctuaries. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਲਖਿਮੀ ਕੇਤਕ ਗਨੀ ਨ ਜਾਈਐ ਗਨਿ ਨ ਸਕਉ ਸੀਕਾ ॥੫॥ lakhimee ketak ganee na jaaeeai gan na skau seekaa |5| The extent of Your wealth cannot be determined. Your Coins cannot be counted. ||5|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਤੇਰੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਨਾਮਾ ਗਿਆਨਨ ਮਹਿ ਗਿਆਨੀ ॥ naaman meh tero prabh naamaa giaanan meh giaanee | Among names, Your Name, God, is the most respected. Among the wise, You are the Wisest. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜੁਗਤਨ ਮਹਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜੁਗਤਾ ਇਸਨਾਨਨ ਮਹਿ ਇਸਨਾਨੀ ॥੬॥ jugatan meh teree prabh jugataa isanaanan meh isanaanee |6| Among ways, Yours, God, is the Best Way. Among purifying baths, Yours is the Most Purifying. ||6|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਿਧਨ ਮਹਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਿਧਾ ਕਰਮਨ ਸਿਰਿ ਕਰਮਾ ॥ sidhan meh teree prabh sidhaa karaman sir karamaa | Among spiritual powers, Yours, O God, are the Spiritual Powers. Among actions, Yours are the Greatest Actions. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਆਗਿਆ ਮਹਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਆਗਿਆ ਹੁਕਮਨ ਸਿਰਿ ਹੁਕਮਾ ॥੭॥ aagiaa meh teree prabh aagiaa hukaman sir hukamaa |7| Among wills, Your Will, God, is the Supreme Will. Of commands, Yours is the Supreme Command. ||7|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
