ਜੀਵਨੈ ਕੀ ਆਸ ਕਰਹਿ ਜਮੁ ਨਿਹਾਰੈ ਸਾਸਾ ॥ jeevanai kee aas kareh jam nihaarai saasaa | You hope for long life, while Death counts your breaths. - Bhagat Kabir Ji

ਤਨੁ ਰੈਨੀ ਮਨੁ ਪੁਨ ਰਪਿ ਕਰਿ ਹਉ ਪਾਚਉ ਤਤ ਬਰਾਤੀ ॥ tan rainee man pun rap kar hau paachau tat baraatee | I make my body the dying vat, and within it, I dye my mind. I make the five elements my marriage guests. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਰਾਮ ਰਾਇ ਸਿਉ ਭਾਵਰਿ ਲੈਹਉ ਆਤਮ ਤਿਹ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੀ ॥੧॥ raam raae siau bhaavar laihau aatam tih rang raatee |1| I take my marriage vows with the Lord, my King; my soul is imbued with His Love. ||1|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji

ਰਾਮ ਰਾਇ ਸੋ ਦੂਲਹੁ ਪਾਇਓ ਅਸ ਬਡਭਾਗ ਹਮਾਰਾ ॥੨॥ raam raae so doolahu paaeo as baddabhaag hamaaraa |2| I have obtained the Lord King as my Husband - such is my great good fortune. ||2|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਸੁਰਿ ਨਰ ਮੁਨਿ ਜਨ ਕਉਤਕ ਆਏ ਕੋਟਿ ਤੇਤੀਸ ਉਜਾਨਾਂ ॥ sur nar mun jan kautak aae kott tetees ujaanaan | The angles, holy men, silent sages, and the 330,000,000 deities have come in their heavenly chariots to see this spectacle. - Bhagat Kabir Ji

ਸਾਸੁ ਕੀ ਦੁਖੀ ਸਸੁਰ ਕੀ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਜੇਠ ਕੇ ਨਾਮਿ ਡਰਉ ਰੇ ॥ saas kee dukhee sasur kee piaaree jetth ke naam ddrau re | I am bothered by my mother-in-law, Maya, and loved by my father-in-law, the Lord. I fear even the name of my husband’s elder brother, Death. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਸਖੀ ਸਹੇਲੀ ਨਨਦ ਗਹੇਲੀ ਦੇਵਰ ਕੈ ਬਿਰਹਿ ਜਰਉ ਰੇ ॥੧॥ sakhee sahelee nanad gahelee devar kai bireh jrau re |1| O my mates and companions, my husband’s sister, misunderstanding has seized me, and I am burning with the pain of separation from my husband’s younger brother, divine knowledge. ||1|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji

ਸੇਜੈ ਰਮਤੁ ਨੈਨ ਨਹੀ ਪੇਖਉ ਇਹੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਕਾ ਸਉ ਕਹਉ ਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ sejai ramat nain nahee pekhau ihu dukh kaa sau khau re |1| rahaau | He rests in the bed of my mind, but I cannot see Him with my eyes. Unto whom should I tell my sufferings? ||1||Pause|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji

ਬਡੇ ਭਾਈ ਕੈ ਜਬ ਸੰਗਿ ਹੋਤੀ ਤਬ ਹਉ ਨਾਹ ਪਿਆਰੀ ॥੨॥ badde bhaaee kai jab sang hotee tab hau naah piaaree |2| When I stayed with my elder brother, meditation, then I was loved by my Husband Lord. ||2|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਕਹਤ ਕਬੀਰ ਪੰਚ ਕੋ ਝਗਰਾ ਝਗਰਤ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥ kehat kabeer panch ko jhagaraa jhagarat janam gavaaeaa | Says Kabeer, the five passions argue with me, and in these arguments, my life is wasting away. - Bhagat Kabir Ji

ਹਮ ਘਰਿ ਸੂਤੁ ਤਨਹਿ ਨਿਤ ਤਾਨਾ ਕੰਠਿ ਜਨੇਊ ਤੁਮਾਰੇ ॥ ham ghar soot taneh nit taanaa kantth janeaoo tumaare | In my house, I constantly weave the thread, while you wear the thread around your neck, O Brahmin. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਤੁਮੑ ਤਉ ਬੇਦ ਪੜਹੁ ਗਾਇਤ੍ਰੀ ਗੋਬਿੰਦੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਹਮਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ tuma tau bed parrahu gaaeitree gobind ridai hamaare |1| You read the Vedas and sacred hymns, while I have enshrined the Lord of the Universe in my heart. ||1|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿਹਬਾ ਬਿਸਨੁ ਨੈਨ ਨਾਰਾਇਨ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਬਸਹਿ ਗੋਬਿੰਦਾ ॥ meree jihabaa bisan nain naaraaein hiradai baseh gobindaa | Upon my tongue, within my eyes, and within my heart, abides the Lord, the Lord of the Universe. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਜਮ ਦੁਆਰ ਜਬ ਪੂਛਸਿ ਬਵਰੇ ਤਬ ਕਿਆ ਕਹਸਿ ਮੁਕੰਦਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ jam duaar jab poochhas bavare tab kiaa kehas mukandaa |1| rahaau | When you are interrogated at Death’s door, O mad-man, what will you say then? ||1||Pause|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਹਮ ਗੋਰੂ ਤੁਮ ਗੁਆਰ ਗੁਸਾਈ ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਰਖਵਾਰੇ ॥ ham goroo tum guaar gusaaee janam janam rakhavaare | I am a cow, and You are the herdsman, the Sustainer of the World. You are my Saving Grace, lifetime after lifetime. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਕਬਹੂੰ ਨ ਪਾਰਿ ਉਤਾਰਿ ਚਰਾਇਹੁ ਕੈਸੇ ਖਸਮ ਹਮਾਰੇ ॥੨॥ kabahoon na paar utaar charaaeihu kaise khasam hamaare |2| You have never taken me across to graze there - what sort of a herdsman are You? ||2|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji

ਤੁਮੑ ਤਉ ਜਾਚੇ ਭੂਪਤਿ ਰਾਜੇ ਹਰਿ ਸਉ ਮੋਰ ਧਿਆਨਾ ॥੩॥੪॥੨੬॥ tuma tau jaache bhoopat raaje har sau mor dhiaanaa |3|4|26| You beg from emperors and kings, while I meditate on the Lord. ||3||4||26|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji

ਸਾਚੁ ਕਰਿ ਹਮ ਗਾਠਿ ਦੀਨੀ ਛੋਡਿ ਪਰਮ ਨਿਧਾਨੰ ॥੧॥ saach kar ham gaatth deenee chhodd param nidhaanan |1| Believing it to be true, I grasped at it, and abandoned the supreme treasure. ||1|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji

ਨੈਨ ਦੇਖਿ ਪਤੰਗੁ ਉਰਝੈ ਪਸੁ ਨ ਦੇਖੈ ਆਗਿ ॥ nain dekh patang urajhai pas na dekhai aag | The moth sees with its eyes, but it still becomes entangled; the insect does not see the fire. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਕਾਲ ਫਾਸ ਨ ਮੁਗਧੁ ਚੇਤੈ ਕਨਿਕ ਕਾਮਿਨਿ ਲਾਗਿ ॥੨॥ kaal faas na mugadh chetai kanik kaamin laag |2| Attached to gold and woman, the fool does not think of the noose of Death. ||2|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਕਰਿ ਬਿਚਾਰੁ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਪਰਹਰਿ ਤਰਨ ਤਾਰਨ ਸੋਇ ॥ kar bichaar bikaar parahar taran taaran soe | Reflect upon this, and abandon sin; the Lord is a boat to carry you across. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
