ਆਸਾ ॥ aasaa | Aasaa: - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਗਜ ਸਾਢੇ ਤੈ ਤੈ ਧੋਤੀਆ ਤਿਹਰੇ ਪਾਇਨਿ ਤਗ ॥ gaj saadte tai tai dhoteea tihare paaein tag | They wear loin cloths, three and a half yards long, and triple-wound sacred threads. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਗਲੀ ਜਿਨੑਾ ਜਪਮਾਲੀਆ ਲੋਟੇ ਹਥਿ ਨਿਬਗ ॥ galee jinaa japamaaleea lotte hath nibag | They have rosaries around their necks, and they carry glittering jugs in their hands. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਓਇ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਸੰਤ ਨ ਆਖੀਅਹਿ ਬਾਨਾਰਸਿ ਕੇ ਠਗ ॥੧॥ oe har ke sant na aakheeeh baanaaras ke tthag |1| They are not called Saints of the Lord - they are thugs of Benares. ||1|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਐਸੇ ਸੰਤ ਨ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਭਾਵਹਿ ॥ aise sant na mo kau bhaaveh | Such ‘saints’ are not pleasing to me; - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਡਾਲਾ ਸਿਉ ਪੇਡਾ ਗਟਕਾਵਹਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ddaalaa siau peddaa gattakaaveh |1| rahaau | they eat the trees along with the branches. ||1||Pause|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਬਾਸਨ ਮਾਂਜਿ ਚਰਾਵਹਿ ਊਪਰਿ ਕਾਠੀ ਧੋਇ ਜਲਾਵਹਿ ॥ baasan maanj charaaveh aoopar kaatthee dhoe jalaaveh | They wash their pots and pans before putting them on the stove, and they wash the wood before lighting it. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਬਸੁਧਾ ਖੋਦਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਦੁਇ ਚੂਲੇੑ ਸਾਰੇ ਮਾਣਸ ਖਾਵਹਿ ॥੨॥ basudhaa khod kareh due choole saare maanas khaaveh |2| They dig up the earth and make two fireplaces, but they eat the whole person! ||2|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਓਇ ਪਾਪੀ ਸਦਾ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਅਪਰਾਧੀ ਮੁਖਹੁ ਅਪਰਸ ਕਹਾਵਹਿ ॥ oe paapee sadaa fireh aparaadhee mukhahu aparas kahaaveh | Those sinners continually wander in evil deeds, while they call themselves touch-nothing saints. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੀ ਸਗਲ ਕੁਟੰਬ ਡੁਬਾਵਹਿ ॥੩॥ sadaa sadaa fireh abhimaanee sagal kuttanb ddubaaveh |3| They wander around forever and ever in their self-conceit, and all their families are drowned. ||3|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਜਿਤੁ ਕੋ ਲਾਇਆ ਤਿਤ ਹੀ ਲਾਗਾ ਤੈਸੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥ jit ko laaeaa tith hee laagaa taise karam kamaavai | He is attached to that, to which the Lord has attached him, and he acts accordingly. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਜਿਸੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟੈ ਪੁਨਰਪਿ ਜਨਮਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥੪॥੨॥ kahu kabeer jis satigur bhettai punarap janam na aavai |4|2| Says Kabeer, one who meets the True Guru, is not reincarnated again. ||4||2|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji

ਬਾਪਿ ਦਿਲਾਸਾ ਮੇਰੋ ਕੀਨੑਾ ॥ baap dilaasaa mero keenaa | My Father has comforted me. He has given me a cozy bed, - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਸੇਜ ਸੁਖਾਲੀ ਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਦੀਨੑਾ ॥ sej sukhaalee mukh amrit deenaa | And placed His Ambrosial Nectar in my mouth. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਤਿਸੁ ਬਾਪ ਕਉ ਕਿਉ ਮਨਹੁ ਵਿਸਾਰੀ ॥ tis baap kau kiau manahu visaaree | How could I forget that Father from my mind? - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਆਗੈ ਗਇਆ ਨ ਬਾਜੀ ਹਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ aagai geaa na baajee haaree |1| When I go to the world hereafter, I shall not lose the game. ||1|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਮੁਈ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਈ ਹਉ ਖਰਾ ਸੁਖਾਲਾ ॥ muee meree maaee hau kharaa sukhaalaa | Maya is dead, O mother, and I am very happy. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਪਹਿਰਉ ਨਹੀ ਦਗਲੀ ਲਗੈ ਨ ਪਾਲਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ pahirau nahee dagalee lagai na paalaa |1| rahaau | I do not wear the patched coat, nor do I feel the chill. ||1||Pause|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਬਲਿ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਾਪੈ ਜਿਨਿ ਹਉ ਜਾਇਆ ॥ bal tis baapai jin hau jaaeaa | I am a sacrifice to my Father, who gave me life. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਪੰਚਾ ਤੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਸੰਗੁ ਚੁਕਾਇਆ ॥ panchaa te meraa sang chukaaeaa | He put an end to my association with the five deadly sins. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਪੰਚ ਮਾਰਿ ਪਾਵਾ ਤਲਿ ਦੀਨੇ ॥ panch maar paavaa tal deene | I have conquered those five demons, and trampled them underfoot. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਭੀਨੇ ॥੨॥ har simaran meraa man tan bheene |2| Remembering the Lord in meditation, my mind and body are drenched with His Love. ||2|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਪਿਤਾ ਹਮਾਰੋ ਵਡ ਗੋਸਾਈ ॥ pitaa hamaaro vadd gosaaee | My Father is the Great Lord of the Universe. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਤਿਸੁ ਪਿਤਾ ਪਹਿ ਹਉ ਕਿਉ ਕਰਿ ਜਾਈ ॥ tis pitaa peh hau kiau kar jaaee | How shall I go to that Father? - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮਿਲੇ ਤ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ॥ satigur mile ta maarag dikhaaeaa | When I met the True Guru, He showed me the Way. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਜਗਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਇਆ ॥੩॥ jagat pitaa merai man bhaaeaa |3| The Father of the Universe is pleasing to my mind. ||3|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਹਉ ਪੂਤੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਤੂੰ ਬਾਪੁ ਮੇਰਾ ॥ hau poot teraa toon baap meraa | I am Your son, and You are my Father. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਏਕੈ ਠਾਹਰ ਦੁਹਾ ਬਸੇਰਾ ॥ ekai tthaahar duhaa baseraa | We both dwell in the same place. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਜਨਿ ਏਕੋ ਬੂਝਿਆ ॥ kahu kabeer jan eko boojhiaa | Says Kabeer, the Lord’s humble servant knows only the One. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਮੈ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਸੂਝਿਆ ॥੪॥੩॥ gur prasaad mai sabh kichh soojhiaa |4|3| By Guru’s Grace, I have come to know everything. ||4||3|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji

ਇਕਤੁ ਪਤਰਿ ਭਰਿ ਉਰਕਟ ਕੁਰਕਟ ਇਕਤੁ ਪਤਰਿ ਭਰਿ ਪਾਨੀ ॥ eikat patar bhar urakatt kurakatt ikat patar bhar paanee | In one pot, they put a boiled chicken, and in the other pot, they put wine. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਆਸਿ ਪਾਸਿ ਪੰਚ ਜੋਗੀਆ ਬੈਠੇ ਬੀਚਿ ਨਕਟ ਦੇ ਰਾਨੀ ॥੧॥ aas paas panch jogeea baitthe beech nakatt de raanee |1| The five Yogis of the Tantric ritual sit there, and in their midst sits the noseless one, the shameless queen. ||1|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਨਕਟੀ ਕੋ ਠਨਗਨੁ ਬਾਡਾ ਡੂੰ ॥ nakattee ko tthanagan baaddaa ddoon | The bell of the shameless queen, Maya, rings in both worlds. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਕਿਨਹਿ ਬਿਬੇਕੀ ਕਾਟੀ ਤੂੰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ kineh bibekee kaattee toon |1| rahaau | Some rare person of discriminating wisdom has cut off your nose. ||1||Pause|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਸਗਲ ਮਾਹਿ ਨਕਟੀ ਕਾ ਵਾਸਾ ਸਗਲ ਮਾਰਿ ਅਉਹੇਰੀ ॥ sagal maeh nakattee kaa vaasaa sagal maar aauheree | Within all dwells the noseless Maya, who kills all, and destroys them. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਸਗਲਿਆ ਕੀ ਹਉ ਬਹਿਨ ਭਾਨਜੀ ਜਿਨਹਿ ਬਰੀ ਤਿਸੁ ਚੇਰੀ ॥੨॥ sagaliaa kee hau bahin bhaanajee jineh baree tis cheree |2| She says, “I am the sister, and the daughter of the sister of everyone; I am the hand-maiden of one who marries me.” ||2|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਹਮਰੋ ਭਰਤਾ ਬਡੋ ਬਿਬੇਕੀ ਆਪੇ ਸੰਤੁ ਕਹਾਵੈ ॥ hamaro bharataa baddo bibekee aape sant kahaavai | My Husband is the Great One of discriminating wisdom; He alone is called a Saint. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਓਹੁ ਹਮਾਰੈ ਮਾਥੈ ਕਾਇਮੁ ਅਉਰੁ ਹਮਰੈ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥੩॥ ohu hamaarai maathai kaaeim aaur hamarai nikatt na aavai |3| He stands by me, and no one else comes near me. ||3|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਨਾਕਹੁ ਕਾਟੀ ਕਾਨਹੁ ਕਾਟੀ ਕਾਟਿ ਕੂਟਿ ਕੈ ਡਾਰੀ ॥ naakahu kaattee kaanahu kaattee kaatt koott kai ddaaree | I have cut off her nose, and cut off her ears, and cutting her into bits, I have expelled her. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੀ ਬੈਰਨਿ ਤੀਨਿ ਲੋਕ ਕੀ ਪਿਆਰੀ ॥੪॥੪॥ kahu kabeer santan kee bairan teen lok kee piaaree |4|4| Says Kabeer, she is the darling of the three worlds, but the enemy of the Saints. ||4||4|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji

ਜੋਗੀ ਜਤੀ ਤਪੀ ਸੰਨਿਆਸੀ ਬਹੁ ਤੀਰਥ ਭ੍ਰਮਨਾ ॥ jogee jatee tapee saniaasee bahu teerath bhramanaa | The Yogis, celibates, penitents and Sannyaasees make pilgrimages to all the sacred places. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਲੁੰਜਿਤ ਮੁੰਜਿਤ ਮੋਨਿ ਜਟਾਧਰ ਅੰਤਿ ਤਊ ਮਰਨਾ ॥੧॥ lunjit munjit mon jattaadhar ant taoo maranaa |1| The Jains with shaven heads, the silent ones, the beggars with matted hair - in the end, they all shall die. ||1|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਤਾ ਤੇ ਸੇਵੀਅਲੇ ਰਾਮਨਾ ॥ taa te seveeale raamanaa | Meditate, therefore, on the Lord. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਰਸਨਾ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਹਿਤੁ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਕਹਾ ਕਰੈ ਜਮਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ rasanaa raam naam hit jaa kai kahaa karai jamanaa |1| rahaau | What can the Messenger of Death do to one whose tongue loves the Name of the Lord? ||1||Pause|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਆਗਮ ਨਿਰਗਮ ਜੋਤਿਕ ਜਾਨਹਿ ਬਹੁ ਬਹੁ ਬਿਆਕਰਨਾ ॥ aagam niragam jotik jaaneh bahu bahu biaakaranaa | Those who know the Shaastras and the Vedas, astrology and the rules of grammar of many languages; - Bhagat Kabir Ji
