ਨਿਧਿ ਸਿਧਿ ਚਰਣ ਗਹੇ ਤਾ ਕੇਹਾ ਕਾੜਾ ॥ nidh sidh charan gahe taa kehaa kaarraa | Grasping the Lord’s Feet, the treasure of the Siddhas, what suffering can I feel? - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਵਸਿ ਜਿਸੈ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਅਸਾੜਾ ॥ sabh kichh vas jisai so prabhoo asaarraa | Everything is in His Power - He is my God. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗਹਿ ਭੁਜਾ ਲੀਨੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀਨੇ ਕਰੁ ਧਾਰਿ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਰਾਖਿਆ ॥ geh bhujaa leene naam deene kar dhaar masatak raakhiaa | Holding me by the arm, He blesses me with His Name; placing His Hand upon my forehead, He saves me. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੰਸਾਰ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਨਹ ਵਿਆਪੈ ਅਮਿਉ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਚਾਖਿਆ ॥ sansaar saagar neh viaapai amiau har ras chaakhiaa | The world-ocean does not trouble me, for I have drunk the sublime elixir of the Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਾਧਸੰਗੇ ਨਾਮ ਰੰਗੇ ਰਣੁ ਜੀਤਿ ਵਡਾ ਅਖਾੜਾ ॥ saadhasange naam range ran jeet vaddaa akhaarraa | In the Saadh Sangat, imbued with the Naam, the Name of the Lord, I am victorious on the great battlefield of life. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਣਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਜਮਿ ਨ ਉਪਾੜਾ ॥੪॥੩॥੧੨॥ binavant naanak saran suaamee bahurr jam na upaarraa |4|3|12| Prays Nanak, I have entered the Sanctuary of the Lord and Master; the Messenger of Death shall not destroy me again. ||4||3||12|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤਿ ਕਮਾਇਅੜੋ ਸੋ ਆਇਓ ਮਾਥੈ ॥ din raat kamaaeiarro so aaeo maathai | Those actions you perform, day and night, are recorded upon your forehead. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਿਸੁ ਪਾਸਿ ਲੁਕਾਇਦੜੋ ਸੋ ਵੇਖੀ ਸਾਥੈ ॥ jis paas lukaaeidarro so vekhee saathai | And the One, from whom you hide these actions - He sees them, and is always with you. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੰਗਿ ਦੇਖੈ ਕਰਣਹਾਰਾ ਕਾਇ ਪਾਪੁ ਕਮਾਈਐ ॥ sang dekhai karanahaaraa kaae paap kamaaeeai | The Creator Lord is with you; He sees you, so why commit sins? - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੁਕ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਕੀਜੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਲੀਜੈ ਨਰਕਿ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਜਾਈਐ ॥ sukrit keejai naam leejai narak mool na jaaeeai | So perform good deeds, and chant the Naam, the Name of the Lord; you shall never have to go to hell. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਿਮਰਹੁ ਚਲੈ ਤੇਰੈ ਸਾਥੇ ॥ aatth pehar har naam simarahu chalai terai saathe | Twenty-four hours a day, dwell upon the Lord’s Name in meditation; it alone shall go along with you. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਭਜੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਸਦਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਿਟਹਿ ਦੋਖ ਕਮਾਤੇ ॥੧॥ bhaj saadhasangat sadaa naanak mitteh dokh kamaate |1| So vibrate continually in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, O Nanak, and the sins you committed shall be erased. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਵਲਵੰਚ ਕਰਿ ਉਦਰੁ ਭਰਹਿ ਮੂਰਖ ਗਾਵਾਰਾ ॥ valavanch kar udar bhareh moorakh gaavaaraa | Practicing deceit, you fill your belly, you ignorant fool! - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਦੇ ਰਹਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਦੇਵਣਹਾਰਾ ॥ sabh kichh de rahiaa har devanahaaraa | The Lord, the Great Giver, continues to give you everything. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਦਾਤਾਰੁ ਸਦਾ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਕਾਇ ਮਨਹੁ ਵਿਸਾਰੀਐ ॥ daataar sadaa deaal suaamee kaae manahu visaareeai | The Great Giver is always merciful. Why should we forget the Lord Master from our minds? - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮਿਲੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗੇ ਭਜੁ ਨਿਸੰਗੇ ਕੁਲ ਸਮੂਹਾ ਤਾਰੀਐ ॥ mil saadhasange bhaj nisange kul samoohaa taareeai | Join the Saadh Sangat, and vibrate fearlessly; all your relations shall be saved. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਿਧ ਸਾਧਿਕ ਦੇਵ ਮੁਨਿ ਜਨ ਭਗਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰਾ ॥ sidh saadhik dev mun jan bhagat naam adhaaraa | The Siddhas, the seekers, the demi-gods, the silent sages and the devotees, all take the Naam as their support. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਦਾ ਭਜੀਐ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਏਕੁ ਕਰਣੈਹਾਰਾ ॥੨॥ binavant naanak sadaa bhajeeai prabh ek karanaihaaraa |2| Prays Nanak, vibrate continually upon God, the One Creator Lord. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਖੋਟੁ ਨ ਕੀਚਈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਰਖਣਹਾਰਾ ॥ khott na keechee prabh parakhanahaaraa | Do not practice deception - God is the Assayer of all. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕੂੜੁ ਕਪਟੁ ਕਮਾਵਦੜੇ ਜਨਮਹਿ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥ koorr kapatt kamaavadarre janameh sansaaraa | Those who practice falsehood and deceit are reincarnated in the world. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਤਿਨੑੀ ਤਰਿਆ ਜਿਨੑੀ ਏਕੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥ sansaar saagar tinaee tariaa jinaee ek dhiaaeaa | Those who meditate on the One Lord, cross over the world-ocean. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤਜਿ ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਅਨਿੰਦ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਆਇਆ ॥ taj kaam krodh anind nindaa prabh saranaaee aaeaa | Renouncing sexual desire, anger, flattery and slander, they enter the Sanctuary of God. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਰਵਿਆ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਊਚ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥ jal thal maheeal raviaa suaamee aooch agam apaaraa | The lofty, inaccessible and infinite Lord and Master is pervading the water, the land and the sky. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਟੇਕ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਚਰਣ ਕਮਲ ਅਧਾਰਾ ॥੩॥ binavant naanak ttek jan kee charan kamal adhaaraa |3| Prays Nanak, He is the support of His servants; His Lotus Feet are their only sustenance. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪੇਖੁ ਹਰਿਚੰਦਉਰੜੀ ਅਸਥਿਰੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਨਾਹੀ ॥ pekh harichandaurarree asathir kichh naahee | Behold - the world is a mirage; nothing here is permanent. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮਾਇਆ ਰੰਗ ਜੇਤੇ ਸੇ ਸੰਗਿ ਨ ਜਾਹੀ ॥ maaeaa rang jete se sang na jaahee | The pleasures of Maya which are here, shall not go with you. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਾਥੀ ਸਦਾ ਤੇਰੈ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਰੈਣਿ ਸਮਾਲੀਐ ॥ har sang saathee sadaa terai dinas rain samaaleeai | The Lord, your companion, is always with you; remember Him day and night. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਰਿ ਏਕ ਬਿਨੁ ਕਛੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਭਾਉ ਦੁਤੀਆ ਜਾਲੀਐ ॥ har ek bin kachh avar naahee bhaau duteea jaaleeai | Without the One Lord, there is no other; burn away the love of duality. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮੀਤੁ ਜੋਬਨੁ ਮਾਲੁ ਸਰਬਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਏਕੁ ਕਰਿ ਮਨ ਮਾਹੀ ॥ meet joban maal sarabas prabh ek kar man maahee | Know in your mind, that the One God is your friend, youth, wealth and everything. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਵਡਭਾਗਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਸੂਖਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਹੀ ॥੪॥੪॥੧੩॥ binavant naanak vaddabhaag paaeeai sookh sehaj samaahee |4|4|13| Prays Nanak, by great good fortune, we find the Lord, and merge in peace and celestial poise. ||4||4||13|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਕਮਲਾ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਭੀਤਿ ਕਮਲਾ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਭੀਤਿ ਹੇ ਤੀਖਣ ਮਦ ਬਿਪਰੀਤਿ ਹੇ ਅਵਧ ਅਕਾਰਥ ਜਾਤ ॥ kamalaa bhram bheet kamalaa bhram bheet he teekhan mad bipareet he avadh akaarath jaat | Maya is the wall of doubt - Maya is the wall of doubt. It is such a powerful and destructive intoxicant; it corrupts and wastes away one’s life. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗਹਬਰ ਬਨ ਘੋਰ ਗਹਬਰ ਬਨ ਘੋਰ ਹੇ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਮੂਸਤ ਮਨ ਚੋਰ ਹੇ ਦਿਨਕਰੋ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਖਾਤ ॥ gahabar ban ghor gahabar ban ghor he grih moosat man chor he dinakaro anadin khaat | In the terrible, impenetrable world-forest - in the terrible, impenetrable world-forest, the thieves are plundering man’s house in broad daylight; night and day, this life is being consumed. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਦਿਨ ਖਾਤ ਜਾਤ ਬਿਹਾਤ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਿਨੁ ਮਿਲਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਰੁਣਾ ਪਤੇ ॥ din khaat jaat bihaat prabh bin milahu prabh karunaa pate | The days of your life are being consumed; they are passing away without God. So meet God, the Merciful Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
