ਸਚੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਹਿਬਾ ਸਚੀ ਤੇਰੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥ sache mere saahibaa sachee teree vaddiaaee | O My True Lord Master, True is Your glorious greatness. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਤੂੰ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਬੇਅੰਤੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਤੇਰੀ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਕਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥ toon paarabraham beant suaamee teree kudarat kehan na jaaee | You are the Supreme Lord God, the Infinite Lord and Master. Your creative power cannot be described. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਚੀ ਤੇਰੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਤੁਧੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਈ ਸਦਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹੇ ॥ sachee teree vaddiaaee jaa kau tudh man vasaaee sadaa tere gun gaavahe | True is Your glorious greatness; when You enshrine it within the mind, one sings Your Glorious Praises forever. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਜਾ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵਹਿ ਸਚੇ ਸਿਉ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਵਹੇ ॥ tere gun gaaveh jaa tudh bhaaveh sache siau chit laavahe | He sings Your Glorious Praises, when it is pleasing to You, O True Lord; he centers his consciousness on You. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਤੂੰ ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲਹਿ ਸੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਰਹੈ ਸਮਾਈ ॥ jis no toon aape meleh su guramukh rahai samaaee | One whom You unite with Yourself, as Gurmukh, remains absorbed in You. - Guru Amardas Ji

ਜੀਵਨੋ ਮੈ ਜੀਵਨੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਭਾਏ ਰਾਮ ॥ jeevano mai jeevan paaeaa guramukh bhaae raam | Life - I have found real life, as Gurmukh, through His Love. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੋ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇਵੈ ਮੇਰੈ ਪ੍ਰਾਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ਰਾਮ ॥ har naamo har naam devai merai praan vasaae raam | The Lord’s Name - He has given me the Lord’s Name, and enshrined it within my breath of life. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੇਰੈ ਪ੍ਰਾਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ਸਭੁ ਸੰਸਾ ਦੂਖੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥ har har naam merai praan vasaae sabh sansaa dookh gavaaeaa | He has enshrined the Name of the Lord, Har, Har within my breath of lfe, and all my doubts and sorrows have departed. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਅਦਿਸਟੁ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ adisatt agochar gur bachan dhiaaeaa pavitr param pad paaeaa | I have meditated on the invisible and unapproachable Lord, through the Guru’s Word, and I have obtained the pure, supreme status. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਅਨਹਦ ਧੁਨਿ ਵਾਜਹਿ ਨਿਤ ਵਾਜੇ ਗਾਈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਬਾਣੀ ॥ anahad dhun vaajeh nit vaaje gaaee satigur baanee | The unstruck melody resounds, and the instruments ever vibrate, singing the Bani of the True Guru. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਤਿ ਕਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਦਾਤੈ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਮਾਣੀ ॥੧॥ naanak daat karee prabh daatai jotee jot samaanee |1| O Nanak, God the Great Giver has given me a gift; He has blended my light into the Light. ||1|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਮਨਮੁਖਾ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਮੁਏ ਮੇਰੀ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਰਾਮ ॥ manamukhaa manamukh mue meree kar maaeaa raam | The self-willed manmukhs die in their self-willed stubbornness, declaring that the wealth of Maya is theirs. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਖਿਨੁ ਆਵੈ ਖਿਨੁ ਜਾਵੈ ਦੁਰਗੰਧ ਮੜੈ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇਆ ਰਾਮ ॥ khin aavai khin jaavai duragandh marrai chit laaeaa raam | They attach their consciousness to the foul-smelling pile of filth, which comes for a moment, and departs in an instant. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਲਾਇਆ ਦੁਰਗੰਧ ਮੜੈ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਗਾ ਜਿਉ ਰੰਗੁ ਕਸੁੰਭ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ॥ laaeaa duragandh marrai chit laagaa jiau rang kasunbh dikhaaeaa | They attach their consciousness to the foul-smelling pile of filth, which is transitory, like the fading color of the safflower. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਖਿਨੁ ਪੂਰਬਿ ਖਿਨੁ ਪਛਮਿ ਛਾਏ ਜਿਉ ਚਕੁ ਕੁਮਿੑਆਰਿ ਭਵਾਇਆ ॥ khin poorab khin pachham chhaae jiau chak kumaaar bhavaaeaa | One moment, they are facing east, and the next instant, they are facing west; they continue spinning around, like the potter’s wheel. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਦੁਖੁ ਖਾਵਹਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਸੰਚਹਿ ਭੋਗਹਿ ਦੁਖ ਕੀ ਬਿਰਧਿ ਵਧਾਈ ॥ dukh khaaveh dukh sancheh bhogeh dukh kee biradh vadhaaee | In sorrow, they eat, and in sorrow, they gather things and try to enjoy them, but they only increase their stores of sorrow. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਬਿਖਮੁ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ਤਰੀਐ ਜਾ ਆਵੈ ਗੁਰ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥੨॥ naanak bikham suhelaa tareeai jaa aavai gur saranaaee |2| O Nanak, one easily crosses over the terrifying world-ocean, when he comes to the Sanctuary of the Guru. ||2|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਮੇਰਾ ਠਾਕੁਰੋ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਨੀਕਾ ਅਗਮ ਅਥਾਹਾ ਰਾਮ ॥ meraa tthaakuro tthaakur neekaa agam athaahaa raam | My Lord, my Lord Master is sublime, unapproachable and unfathomable. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਪੂਜੀ ਹਰਿ ਪੂਜੀ ਚਾਹੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਾਹਾ ਰਾਮ ॥ har poojee har poojee chaahee mere satigur saahaa raam | The wealth of the Lord - I seek the wealth of the Lord, from my True Guru, the Divine Banker. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਪੂਜੀ ਚਾਹੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਬਿਸਾਹੀ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਗੁਣ ਭਾਵੈ ॥ har poojee chaahee naam bisaahee gun gaavai gun bhaavai | I seek the wealth of the Lord, to purchase the Naam; I sing and love the Glorious Praises of the Lord. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਨੀਦ ਭੂਖ ਸਭ ਪਰਹਰਿ ਤਿਆਗੀ ਸੁੰਨੇ ਸੁੰਨਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ॥ need bhookh sabh parahar tiaagee sune sun samaavai | I have totally renounced sleep and hunger, and through deep meditation, I am absorbed into the Absolute Lord. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਵਣਜਾਰੇ ਇਕ ਭਾਤੀ ਆਵਹਿ ਲਾਹਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਲੈ ਜਾਹੇ ॥ vanajaare ik bhaatee aaveh laahaa har naam lai jaahe | The traders of one kind come and take away the Name of the Lord as their profit. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਅਰਪਿ ਗੁਰ ਆਗੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤਿ ਸੋ ਪਾਏ ॥੩॥ naanak man tan arap gur aagai jis praapat so paae |3| O Nanak, dedicate your mind and body to the Guru; one who is so destined, attains it. ||3|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਰਤਨਾ ਰਤਨ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਬਹੁ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਭਰਿਆ ਰਾਮ ॥ ratanaa ratan padaarath bahu saagar bhariaa raam | The great ocean is full of the treasures of jewels upon jewels. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਬਾਣੀ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਲਾਗੇ ਤਿਨੑ ਹਥਿ ਚੜਿਆ ਰਾਮ ॥ baanee gurabaanee laage tina hath charriaa raam | Those who are committed to the Word of the Guru’s Bani, see them come into their hands. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਲਾਗੇ ਤਿਨੑ ਹਥਿ ਚੜਿਆ ਨਿਰਮੋਲਕੁ ਰਤਨੁ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥ gurabaanee laage tina hath charriaa niramolak ratan apaaraa | This priceless, incomparable jewel comes into the hands of those who are committed to the Word of the Guru’s Bani. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਤੋਲਕੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਤੇਰੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਭਰੇ ਭੰਡਾਰਾ ॥ har har naam atolak paaeaa teree bhagat bhare bhanddaaraa | They obtain the immeasurable Name of the Lord, Har, Har; their treasure is overflowing with devotional worship. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਸਮੁੰਦੁ ਵਿਰੋਲਿ ਸਰੀਰੁ ਹਮ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਇਕ ਵਸਤੁ ਅਨੂਪ ਦਿਖਾਈ ॥ samund virol sareer ham dekhiaa ik vasat anoop dikhaaee | I have churned the ocean of the body, and I have seen the incomparable thing come into view. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਗੁਰ ਗੋਵਿੰਦੁ ਗੋੁਵਿੰਦੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਹੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਭੇਦੁ ਨ ਭਾਈ ॥੪॥੧॥੮॥ gur govind guovind guroo hai naanak bhed na bhaaee |4|1|8| The Guru is God, and God is the Guru, O Nanak; there is no difference between the two, O Siblings of Destiny. ||4||1||8|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
