ਧਨ ਪਿਰਹਿ ਮੇਲਾ ਹੋਇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਆਪਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੇ ॥ dhan pireh melaa hoe suaamee aap prabh kirapaa kare | The soul-bride meets her Husband Lord, when the Lord Master Himself showers His favor upon her. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਸੇਜਾ ਸੁਹਾਵੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਪਿਰ ਕੈ ਸਾਤ ਸਰ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਭਰੇ ॥ sejaa suhaavee sang pir kai saat sar amrit bhare | Her bed is decorated in the company of her Beloved, and her seven pools are filled with ambrosial nectar. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਕਰਿ ਦਇਆ ਮਇਆ ਦਇਆਲ ਸਾਚੇ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਓ ॥ kar deaa meaa deaal saache sabad mil gun gaavo | Be kind and compassionate to me, O Merciful True Lord, that I may obtain the Word of the Shabad, and sing Your Glorious Praises. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕਾ ਹਰਿ ਵਰੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਬਿਗਸੀ ਮੁੰਧ ਮਨਿ ਓਮਾਹਓ ॥੧॥ naanakaa har var dekh bigasee mundh man omaaho |1| O Nanak, gazing upon her Husband Lord, the soul-bride is delighted, and her mind is filled with joy. ||1|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਮੁੰਧ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਲੋਨੜੀਏ ਇਕ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਬਿਨੰਤੀ ਰਾਮ ॥ mundh sehaj salonarree ik prem binantee raam | O bride of natural beauty, offer your loving prayers to the Lord. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਮੈ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਵੈ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੰਗਮਿ ਰਾਤੀ ਰਾਮ ॥ mai man tan har bhaavai prabh sangam raatee raam | The Lord is pleasing to my mind and body; I am intoxicated in my Lord God’s Company. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪ੍ਰੇਮਿ ਰਾਤੀ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੰਤੀ ਨਾਮਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਸੁਖਿ ਵਸੈ ॥ prabh prem raatee har binantee naam har kai sukh vasai | Imbued with the Love of God, I pray to the Lord, and through the Lord’s Name, I abide in peace. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਤਉ ਗੁਣ ਪਛਾਣਹਿ ਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਜਾਣਹਿ ਗੁਣਹ ਵਸਿ ਅਵਗਣ ਨਸੈ ॥ tau gun pachhaaneh taa prabh jaaneh gunah vas avagan nasai | If you recognize His Glorious Virtues, then you shall come to know God; thus virtue shall dwell in you, and sin shall run away. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਤੁਧੁ ਬਾਝੁ ਇਕੁ ਤਿਲੁ ਰਹਿ ਨ ਸਾਕਾ ਕਹਣਿ ਸੁਨਣਿ ਨ ਧੀਜਏ ॥ tudh baajh ik til reh na saakaa kehan sunan na dheeje | Without You, I cannot survive, even for an instant; by merely talking and listening about You, I am not satisfied. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕਾ ਪ੍ਰਿਉ ਪ੍ਰਿਉ ਕਰਿ ਪੁਕਾਰੇ ਰਸਨ ਰਸਿ ਮਨੁ ਭੀਜਏ ॥੨॥ naanakaa priau priau kar pukaare rasan ras man bheeje |2| Nanak proclaims, “O Beloved, O Beloved!” His tongue and mind are drenched with the Lord’s sublime essence. ||2|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਸਖੀਹੋ ਸਹੇਲੜੀਹੋ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਿਰੁ ਵਣਜਾਰਾ ਰਾਮ ॥ sakheeho sahelarreeho meraa pir vanajaaraa raam | O my companions and friends, my Husband Lord is the merchant. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੋੁ ਵਣੰਜੜਿਆ ਰਸਿ ਮੋਲਿ ਅਪਾਰਾ ਰਾਮ ॥ har naamuo vananjarriaa ras mol apaaraa raam | I have purchased the Lord’s Name; its sweetness and value are unlimited. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਮੋਲਿ ਅਮੋਲੋ ਸਚ ਘਰਿ ਢੋਲੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਾ ਮੁੰਧ ਭਲੀ ॥ mol amolo sach ghar dtolo prabh bhaavai taa mundh bhalee | His value is invaluable; the Beloved dwells in His true home. If it is pleasing to God, then He blesses His bride. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਇਕਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਕਰਹਿ ਰਲੀਆ ਹਉ ਪੁਕਾਰੀ ਦਰਿ ਖਲੀ ॥ eik sang har kai kareh raleea hau pukaaree dar khalee | Some enjoy sweet pleasures with the Lord, while I stand crying at His door. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਣ ਸਮਰਥ ਸ੍ਰੀਧਰ ਆਪਿ ਕਾਰਜੁ ਸਾਰਏ ॥ karan kaaran samarath sreedhar aap kaaraj saare | The Creator, the Cause of causes, the All-powerful Lord Himself arranges our affairs. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਦਰੀ ਧਨ ਸੋਹਾਗਣਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਅਭ ਸਾਧਾਰਏ ॥੩॥ naanak nadaree dhan sohaagan sabad abh saadhaare |3| O Nanak, blessed is the soul-bride, upon whom He casts His Glance of Grace; she enshrines the Word of the Shabad in her heart. ||3|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਹਮ ਘਰਿ ਸਾਚਾ ਸੋਹਿਲੜਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਆਇਅੜੇ ਮੀਤਾ ਰਾਮ ॥ ham ghar saachaa sohilarraa prabh aaeiarre meetaa raam | In my home, the true songs of rejoicing resound; the Lord God, my Friend, has come to me. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਰਾਵੇ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੜਿਆ ਮਨੁ ਲੀਅੜਾ ਦੀਤਾ ਰਾਮ ॥ raave rang raatarriaa man leearraa deetaa raam | He enjoys me, and imbued with His Love, I have captivated His heart, and given mine to Him. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨੁ ਦੀਆ ਹਰਿ ਵਰੁ ਲੀਆ ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਰਾਵਏ ॥ aapanaa man deea har var leea jiau bhaavai tiau raave | I gave my mind, and obtained the Lord as my Husband; as it pleases His Will, He enjoys me. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਪਿਰ ਆਗੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਭਾਗੈ ਘਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਵਏ ॥ tan man pir aagai sabad sabhaagai ghar amrit fal paave | I have placed my body and mind before my Husband Lord, and through the Shabad, I have been blessed. Within the home of my own self, I have obtained the ambrosial fruit. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਬੁਧਿ ਪਾਠਿ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਬਹੁ ਚਤੁਰਾਈਐ ਭਾਇ ਮਿਲੈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਣੇ ॥ budh paatth na paaeeai bahu chaturaaeeai bhaae milai man bhaane | He is not obtained by intellectual recitation or great cleverness; only by love does the mind obtain Him. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਮੀਤ ਹਮਾਰੇ ਹਮ ਨਾਹੀ ਲੋਕਾਣੇ ॥੪॥੧॥ naanak tthaakur meet hamaare ham naahee lokaane |4|1| O Nanak, the Lord Master is my Best Friend; I am not an ordinary person. ||4||1|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji

ਅਨਹਦੋ ਅਨਹਦੁ ਵਾਜੈ ਰੁਣ ਝੁਣਕਾਰੇ ਰਾਮ ॥ anahado anahad vaajai run jhunakaare raam | The unstruck melody of the sound current resounds with the vibrations of the celestial instruments. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੋ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਤਾ ਲਾਲ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਰਾਮ ॥ meraa mano meraa man raataa laal piaare raam | My mind, my mind is imbued with the Love of my Darling Beloved. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤਾ ਮਨੁ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ਸੁੰਨ ਮੰਡਲਿ ਘਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ anadin raataa man bairaagee sun manddal ghar paaeaa | Night and day, my detached mind remains absorbed in the Lord, and I obtain my home in the profound trance of the celestial void. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਆਦਿ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਅਪਰੰਪਰੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਅਲਖੁ ਲਖਾਇਆ ॥ aad purakh aparanpar piaaraa satigur alakh lakhaaeaa | The True Guru has revealed to me the Primal Lord, the Infinite, my Beloved, the Unseen. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਆਸਣਿ ਬੈਸਣਿ ਥਿਰੁ ਨਾਰਾਇਣੁ ਤਿਤੁ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਤਾ ਵੀਚਾਰੇ ॥ aasan baisan thir naaraaein tith man raataa veechaare | The Lord’s posture and His seat are permanent; my mind is absorbed in reflective contemplation upon Him. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ਅਨਹਦ ਰੁਣ ਝੁਣਕਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ naanak naam rate bairaagee anahad run jhunakaare |1| O Nanak, the detached ones are imbued with His Name, the unstruck melody, and the celestial vibrations. ||1|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਤਿਤੁ ਅਗਮ ਤਿਤੁ ਅਗਮ ਪੁਰੇ ਕਹੁ ਕਿਤੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਜਾਈਐ ਰਾਮ ॥ tit agam tith agam pure kahu kit bidh jaaeeai raam | Tell me, how can I reach that unreachable, that unreachable city? - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਸਚੁ ਸੰਜਮੋ ਸਾਰਿ ਗੁਣਾ ਗੁਰਸਬਦੁ ਕਮਾਈਐ ਰਾਮ ॥ sach sanjamo saar gunaa gurasabad kamaaeeai raam | By practicing truthfulness and self-restraint, by contemplating His Glorious Virtues, and living the Word of the Guru’s Shabad. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਸਚੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਕਮਾਈਐ ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਜਾਈਐ ਪਾਈਐ ਗੁਣੀ ਨਿਧਾਨਾ ॥ sach sabad kamaaeeai nij ghar jaaeeai paaeeai gunee nidhaanaa | Practicing the True Word of the Shabad, one comes to the home of his own inner being, and obtains the treasure of virtue. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਤਿਤੁ ਸਾਖਾ ਮੂਲੁ ਪਤੁ ਨਹੀ ਡਾਲੀ ਸਿਰਿ ਸਭਨਾ ਪਰਧਾਨਾ ॥ tit saakhaa mool pat nahee ddaalee sir sabhanaa paradhaanaa | He has no stems, roots, leaves or branches, but He is the Supreme Lord over the heads of all. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਜਪੁ ਤਪੁ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਸੰਜਮ ਥਾਕੀ ਹਠਿ ਨਿਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਈਐ ॥ jap tap kar kar sanjam thaakee hatth nigreh nahee paaeeai | Practicing intensive meditation, chanting and self-discipline, people have grown weary; stubbornly practicing these rituals, they still have not found Him. - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਹਜਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਜਗਜੀਵਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਬੂਝ ਬੁਝਾਈਐ ॥੨॥ naanak sehaj mile jagajeevan satigur boojh bujhaaeeai |2| O Nanak, through spiritual wisdom, the Lord, the Life of the world, is met; the True Guru imparts this understanding. ||2|| - Guru Nanak Dev Ji
