ਘਰ ਹੀ ਸੋ ਪਿਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥੧॥ ghar hee so pir paaeaa sachai sabad veechaar |1| They find their Husband Lord within their own home, contemplating the True Word of the Shabad. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਅਵਗਣ ਗੁਣੀ ਬਖਸਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥ avagan gunee bakhasaaeaa har siau liv laaee | Through merits, their demerits are forgiven, and they embrace love for the Lord. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਵਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਕਾਮਣੀ ਗੁਰਿ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ har var paaeaa kaamanee gur mel milaaee |1| rahaau | The soul-bride then obtains the Lord as her Husband; meeting the Guru, this union comes about. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਇਕਿ ਪਿਰੁ ਹਦੂਰਿ ਨ ਜਾਣਨੑੀ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਇ ॥ eik pir hadoor na jaananaee doojai bharam bhulaae | Some do not know the Presence of their Husband Lord; they are deluded by duality and doubt. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਕਿਉ ਪਾਇਨਿੑ ਡੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਦੁਖੀ ਰੈਣਿ ਵਿਹਾਇ ॥੨॥ kiau paaeina ddohaaganee dukhee rain vihaae |2| How can the forsaken brides meet Him? Their life night passes in pain. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਜਿਨ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਸਚੁ ਵਸਿਆ ਸਚੀ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਇ ॥ jin kai man sach vasiaa sachee kaar kamaae | Those whose minds are filled with the True Lord, perform truthful actions. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸਹਜ ਸਿਉ ਸਚੇ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੩॥ anadin seveh sehaj siau sache maeh samaae |3| Night and day, they serve the Lord with poise, and are absorbed in the True Lord. ||3|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਦੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਈਆ ਕੂੜੁ ਬੋਲਿ ਬਿਖੁ ਖਾਹਿ ॥ dohaaganee bharam bhulaaeea koorr bol bikh khaeh | The forsaken brides wander around, deluded by doubt; telling lies, they eat poison. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਪਿਰੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਨਿ ਆਪਣਾ ਸੁੰਞੀ ਸੇਜ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਹਿ ॥੪॥ pir na jaanan aapanaa sunyee sej dukh paeh |4| They do not know their Husband Lord, and upon their deserted bed, they suffer in misery. ||4|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਏਕੁ ਹੈ ਮਤੁ ਮਨ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਹਿ ॥ sachaa saahib ek hai mat man bharam bhulaeh | The True Lord is the One and only; do not be deluded by doubt, O my mind. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰ ਪੂਛਿ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਹਿ ਸਚੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਹਿ ॥੫॥ gur poochh sevaa kareh sach niramal man vasaeh |5| Consult with the Guru, serve the True Lord, and enshrine the Immaculate Truth within your mind. ||5|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਸਦਾ ਪਿਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਉਮੈ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥ sohaaganee sadaa pir paaeaa haumai aap gavaae | The happy soul-bride always finds her Husband Lord; she banishes egotism and self-conceit. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਪਿਰ ਸੇਤੀ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਗਹਿ ਰਹੀ ਸਚੀ ਸੇਜ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇ ॥੬॥ pir setee anadin geh rahee sachee sej sukh paae |6| She remains attached to her Husband Lord, night and day, and she finds peace upon His Bed of Truth. ||6|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਮੇਰੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਕਰਿ ਗਏ ਪਲੈ ਕਿਛੁ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥ meree meree kar ge palai kichh na paae | Those who shouted, “Mine, mine!” have departed, without obtaining anything. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਮਹਲੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਡੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਅੰਤਿ ਗਈ ਪਛੁਤਾਇ ॥੭॥ mehal naahee ddohaaganee ant gee pachhutaae |7| The separated one does not obtain the Mansion of the Lord’s Presence, and departs, repenting in the end. ||7|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸੋ ਪਿਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਏਕੁ ਹੈ ਏਕਸੁ ਸਿਉ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥ so pir meraa ek hai ekas siau liv laae | That Husband Lord of mine is the One and only; I am in love with the One alone. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਜੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਲੋੜਹਿ ਕਾਮਣੀ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਇ ॥੮॥੧੧॥੩੩॥ naanak je sukh lorreh kaamanee har kaa naam man vasaae |8|11|33| O Nanak, if the soul-bride longs for peace, she should enshrine the Lord’s Name within her mind. ||8||11||33|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਜਿਨੑਾ ਚਖਾਇਓਨੁ ਰਸੁ ਆਇਆ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥ amrit jinaa chakhaaeon ras aaeaa sehaj subhaae | Those whom the Lord has caused to drink in the Ambrosial Nectar, naturally, intuitively, enjoy the sublime essence. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਚਾ ਵੇਪਰਵਾਹੁ ਹੈ ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਤਿਲੁ ਨ ਤਮਾਇ ॥੧॥ sachaa veparavaahu hai tis no til na tamaae |1| The True Lord is care-free; he does not have even an iota of greed. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਸਚਾ ਵਰਸਦਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾ ਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਇ ॥ amrit sachaa varasadaa guramukhaa mukh paae | The True Ambrosial Nectar rains down, and trickles into the mouths of the Gurmukhs. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਮਨੁ ਸਦਾ ਹਰੀਆਵਲਾ ਸਹਜੇ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ man sadaa hareeaavalaa sahaje har gun gaae |1| rahaau | Their minds are forever rejuvenated, and they naturally, intuitively, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਸਦਾ ਦੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਦਰਿ ਖੜੀਆ ਬਿਲਲਾਹਿ ॥ manamukh sadaa dohaaganee dar kharreea bilalaeh | The self-willed manmukhs are forever forsaken brides; they cry out and bewail at the Lord’s Gate. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਜਿਨੑਾ ਪਿਰ ਕਾ ਸੁਆਦੁ ਨ ਆਇਓ ਜੋ ਧੁਰਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਸੋੁ ਕਮਾਹਿ ॥੨॥ jinaa pir kaa suaad na aaeo jo dhur likhiaa suo kamaeh |2| Those who do not enjoy the sublime taste of their Husband Lord, act according to their pre-ordained destiny. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬੀਜੇ ਸਚੁ ਜਮੈ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਾਪਾਰੁ ॥ guramukh beeje sach jamai sach naam vaapaar | The Gurmukh plants the seed of the True Name, and it sprouts. He deals in the True Name alone. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਜੋ ਇਤੁ ਲਾਹੈ ਲਾਇਅਨੁ ਭਗਤੀ ਦੇਇ ਭੰਡਾਰ ॥੩॥ jo it laahai laaeian bhagatee dee bhanddaar |3| Those whom the Lord has attached to this profitable venture, are granted the treasure of devotional worship. ||3|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਭੈ ਭਗਤਿ ਸੀਗਾਰਿ ॥ guramukh sadaa sohaaganee bhai bhagat seegaar | The Gurmukh is forever the true, happy soul-bride; she adorns herself with the fear of God and devotion to Him. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਵਹਿ ਪਿਰੁ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਚੁ ਰਖਹਿ ਉਰ ਧਾਰਿ ॥੪॥ anadin raaveh pir aapanaa sach rakheh ur dhaar |4| Night and day, she enjoys her Husband Lord; she keeps Truth enshrined within her heart. ||4|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਜਿਨੑਾ ਪਿਰੁ ਰਾਵਿਆ ਆਪਣਾ ਤਿਨੑਾ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਉ ॥ jinaa pir raaviaa aapanaa tinaa vittahu bal jaau | I am a sacrifice to those who have enjoyed their Husband Lord. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਦਾ ਪਿਰ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਹਹਿ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥੫॥ sadaa pir kai sang raheh vichahu aap gavaae |5| They dwell forever with their Husband Lord; they eradicate self-conceit from within. ||5|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਮੁਖ ਉਜਲੇ ਪਿਰ ਕੈ ਭਾਇ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥ tan man seetal mukh ujale pir kai bhaae piaar | Their bodies and minds are cooled and soothed, and their faces are radiant, from the love and affection of their Husband Lord. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸੇਜ ਸੁਖਾਲੀ ਪਿਰੁ ਰਵੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਮਾਰਿ ॥੬॥ sej sukhaalee pir ravai haumai trisanaa maar |6| They enjoy their Husband Lord upon His cozy bed, having conquered their ego and desire. ||6|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਘਰਿ ਆਇਆ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਹੇਤਿ ਅਪਾਰਿ ॥ kar kirapaa ghar aaeaa gur kai het apaar | Granting His Grace, He comes into our homes, through our infinite Love for the Guru. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਵਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਕੇਵਲ ਏਕੁ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ ॥੭॥ var paaeaa sohaaganee keval ek muraar |7| The happy soul-bride obtains the One Lord as her Husband. ||7|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਭੇ ਗੁਨਹ ਬਖਸਾਇ ਲਇਓਨੁ ਮੇਲੇ ਮੇਲਣਹਾਰਿ ॥ sabhe gunah bakhasaae leon mele melanahaar | All of her sins are forgiven; the Uniter unites her with Himself. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਣੁ ਆਖੀਐ ਜੇ ਸੁਣਿ ਧਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥੮॥੧੨॥੩੪॥ naanak aakhan aakheeai je sun dhare piaar |8|12|34| O Nanak, chant such chants, that hearing them, He may enshrine love for you. ||8||12||34|| - Guru Amardas Ji
