ਦਇਆ ਕਰਹੁ ਕਿਰਮ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਕਉ ਇਹੈ ਮਨੋਰਥੁ ਸੁਆਉ ॥੨॥ deaa karahu kiram apune kau ihai manorath suaau |2| Please, be kind to me - I am just a worm. This is my object and purpose. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਤੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਹਮਰੈ ਵਸਿ ਕਿਛੁ ਨਾਹਿ ॥ tan dhan teraa toon prabh meraa hamarai vas kichh naeh | My body and wealth are Yours; You are my God - nothing is in my power. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਿਉ ਜਿਉ ਰਾਖਹਿ ਤਿਉ ਤਿਉ ਰਹਣਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਦੀਆ ਖਾਹਿ ॥੩॥ jiau jiau raakheh tiau tiau rahanaa teraa deea khaeh |3| As You keep me, so do I live; I eat what You give me. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਕਾਟੈ ਮਜਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਧੂਰਿ ॥ janam janam ke kilavikh kaattai majan har jan dhoor | The sins of countless incarnations are washed away, by bathing in the dust of the Lord’s humble servants. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਭਾਇ ਭਗਤਿ ਭਰਮ ਭਉ ਨਾਸੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਦਾ ਹਜੂਰਿ ॥੪॥੪॥੧੩੯॥ bhaae bhagat bharam bhau naasai har naanak sadaa hajoor |4|4|139| By loving devotional worship, doubt and fear depart; O Nanak, the Lord is Ever-present. ||4||4||139|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਦਰਸੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਸੋ ਪਾਏ ਜਿਸੁ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਭਾਗੁ ॥ agam agochar daras teraa so paae jis masatak bhaag | The Blessed Vision of Your Darshan is unapproachable and incomprehensible; he alone obtains it, who has such good destiny recorded upon his forehead. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਆਪਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਧਾਰੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਬਖਸਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ॥੧॥ aap kripaal kripaa prabh dhaaree satigur bakhasiaa har naam |1| The Merciful Lord God has bestowed His Mercy, and the True Guru has granted the Lord’s Name. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਮਲ ਮੂਤ ਮੂੜ ਜਿ ਮੁਘਦ ਹੋਤੇ ਸਭਿ ਲਗੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਸੇਵ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ mal moot moorr ji mughad hote sabh lage teree sev |1| rahaau | Even those fools and idiots, stained with feces and urine, have all taken to Your service. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤੂ ਆਪਿ ਕਰਤਾ ਸਭ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਧਰਤਾ ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਇ ॥ too aap karataa sabh srisatt dharataa sabh meh rahiaa samaae | You Yourself are the Creator, who established the entire world. You are contained in all. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਧਰਮ ਰਾਜਾ ਬਿਸਮਾਦੁ ਹੋਆ ਸਭ ਪਈ ਪੈਰੀ ਆਇ ॥੨॥ dharam raajaa bisamaad hoaa sabh pee pairee aae |2| The Righteous Judge of Dharma is wonder-struck, at the sight of everyone falling at the Lord’s Feet. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਤਜੁਗੁ ਤ੍ਰੇਤਾ ਦੁਆਪਰੁ ਭਣੀਐ ਕਲਿਜੁਗੁ ਊਤਮੋ ਜੁਗਾ ਮਾਹਿ ॥ satajug tretaa duaapar bhaneeai kalijug aootamo jugaa maeh | The Golden Age of Sat Yuga, the Silver Age of Trayta Yuga, and the Brass Age of Dwaapar Yuga are good; but the best is the Dark Age, the Iron Age, of Kali Yuga. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਅਹਿ ਕਰੁ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਅਹਿ ਕਰੁ ਪਾਏ ਕੋਈ ਨ ਪਕੜੀਐ ਕਿਸੈ ਥਾਇ ॥੩॥ eh kar kare su eh kar paae koee na pakarreeai kisai thaae |3| As we act, so are the rewards we receive; no one can take the place of another. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਸੋਈ ਕਰਹਿ ਜਿ ਭਗਤ ਤੇਰੇ ਜਾਚਹਿ ਏਹੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਬਿਰਦੁ ॥ har jeeo soee kareh ji bhagat tere jaacheh ehu teraa birad | O Dear Lord, whatever Your devotees ask for, You do. This is Your Way, Your very nature. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਰ ਜੋੜਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਨੁ ਮਾਗੈ ਅਪਣਿਆ ਸੰਤਾ ਦੇਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸੁ ॥੪॥੫॥੧੪੦॥ kar jorr naanak daan maagai apaniaa santaa dehi har daras |4|5|140| With my palms pressed together, O Nanak, I beg for this gift; Lord, please bless Your Saints with Your Vision. ||4||5||140|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਮਹਾ ਬਿਖਾਦੀ ਦੁਸਟ ਅਪਵਾਦੀ ਤੇ ਪੁਨੀਤ ਸੰਗਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ mahaa bikhaadee dusatt apavaadee te puneet sangaare |1| Even the most argumentative, vicious and indecent people, have been purified in Your company. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਨਮ ਭਵੰਤੇ ਨਰਕਿ ਪੜੰਤੇ ਤਿਨੑ ਕੇ ਕੁਲ ਉਧਾਰੇ ॥੨॥ janam bhavante narak parrante tina ke kul udhaare |2| Those who have wandered in reincarnation, and those who have been consigned to hell - even their families have been redeemed. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕੋਇ ਨ ਜਾਨੈ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਮਾਨੈ ਸੇ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਹਰਿ ਦੁਆਰੇ ॥੩॥ koe na jaanai koe na maanai se paragatt har duaare |3| Those whom no one knew, and those whom no one respected - even they have become famous and respected at the Court of the Lord. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਵਨ ਉਪਮਾ ਦੇਉ ਕਵਨ ਵਡਾਈ ਨਾਨਕ ਖਿਨੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਵਾਰੇ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੪੧॥ kavan upamaa deo kavan vaddaaee naanak khin khin vaare |4|1|141| What praise, and what greatness should I attribute to You? Nanak is a sacrifice to You, each and every moment. ||4||1||141|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਮੋਹ ਕੁਟੰਬ ਬਿਖੈ ਰਸ ਮਾਤੇ ਮਿਥਿਆ ਗਹਨ ਗਹੇ ॥੧॥ moh kuttanb bikhai ras maate mithiaa gehan gahe |1| They are intoxicated with attachment to their families and sensory pleasures; they are held in the grip of falsehood. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮਿਥਨ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਸੁਪਨ ਆਨੰਦ ਉਲਾਸ ਮਨਿ ਮੁਖਿ ਸਤਿ ਕਹੇ ॥੨॥ mithan manorath supan aanand ulaas man mukh sat kahe |2| The false desires, and the dream-like delights and pleasures - these, the self-willed manmukhs call true. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਸੰਗੇ ਤਿਲੁ ਮਰਮੁ ਨ ਲਹੇ ॥੩॥ amrit naam padaarath sange til maram na lahe |3| The wealth of the Ambrosial Naam, the Name of the Lord, is with them, but they do not find even a tiny bit of its mystery. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਰਾਖੇ ਸਤਸੰਗੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਣਿ ਆਹੇ ॥੪॥੨॥੧੪੨॥ kar kirapaa raakhe satasange naanak saran aahe |4|2|142| By Your Grace, O Lord, You save those, who take to the Sanctuary of the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation. ||4||2||142|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
