ਸੋ ਛੂਟੈ ਮਹਾ ਜਾਲ ਤੇ ਜਿਸੁ ਗੁਰਸਬਦੁ ਨਿਰੰਤਰਿ ॥੨॥ so chhoottai mahaa jaal te jis gurasabad nirantar |2| They escape from the great noose of death; they are permeated with the Word of the Guru’s Shabad. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਕਿਆ ਕਹਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਬਿਬੇਕ ਸਤ ਸਰੁ ॥ gur kee mahimaa kiaa kahaa gur bibek sat sar | How can I chant the Glorious Praises of the Guru? The Guru is the ocean of Truth and clear understanding. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਓਹੁ ਆਦਿ ਜੁਗਾਦੀ ਜੁਗਹ ਜੁਗੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ॥੩॥ ohu aad jugaadee jugah jug pooraa paramesar |3| He is the Perfect Transcendent Lord, from the very beginning, and throughout the ages. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵਹੁ ਸਦ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਮਨੁ ਰੰਗੇ ॥ naam dhiaavahu sad sadaa har har man range | Meditating on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, forever and ever, my mind is filled with the Love of the Lord, Har, Har. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜੀਉ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਧਨੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਹੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੈ ਸੰਗੇ ॥੪॥੨॥੧੦੪॥ jeeo praan dhan guroo hai naanak kai sange |4|2|104| The Guru is my soul, my breath of life, and wealth; O Nanak, He is with me forever. ||4||2||104|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਸਾਈ ਅਲਖੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ਭੋਰੀ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ॥ saaee alakh apaar bhoree man vasai | If the Invisible and Infinite Lord dwells within my mind, even for a moment, - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਦੂਖੁ ਦਰਦੁ ਰੋਗੁ ਮਾਇ ਮੈਡਾ ਹਭੁ ਨਸੈ ॥੧॥ dookh darad rog maae maiddaa habh nasai |1| then all my pains, troubles, and diseases vanish. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਉ ਵੰਞਾ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੁ ਸਾਈ ਆਪਣੇ ॥ hau vanyaa kurabaan saaee aapane | I am a sacrifice to my Lord Master. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹੋਵੈ ਅਨਦੁ ਘਣਾ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਜਾਪਣੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ hovai anad ghanaa man tan jaapane |1| rahaau | Meditating on Him, a great joy wells up within my mind and body. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬਿੰਦਕ ਗਾਲਿੑ ਸੁਣੀ ਸਚੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਧਣੀ ॥ bindak gaala sunee sache tis dhanee | I have heard only a little bit of news about the True Lord Master. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੂਖੀ ਹੂੰ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇ ਮਾਇ ਨ ਕੀਮ ਗਣੀ ॥੨॥ sookhee hoon sukh paae maae na keem ganee |2| I have obtained the peace of all peace, O my mother; I cannot estimate its worth. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨੈਣ ਪਸੰਦੋ ਸੋਇ ਪੇਖਿ ਮੁਸਤਾਕ ਭਈ ॥ nain pasando soe pekh musataak bhee | He is so beautiful to my eyes; beholding Him, I have been bewitched. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮੈ ਨਿਰਗੁਣਿ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਇ ਆਪਿ ਲੜਿ ਲਾਇ ਲਈ ॥੩॥ mai niragun meree maae aap larr laae lee |3| I am worthless, O my mother; He Himself has attached me to the hem of His robe. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬੇਦ ਕਤੇਬ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਹਭਾ ਹੂੰ ਬਾਹਰਾ ॥ bed kateb sansaar habhaa hoon baaharaa | He is beyond the world of the Vedas, the Koran and the Bible. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਾ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹੁ ਦਿਸੈ ਜਾਹਰਾ ॥੪॥੩॥੧੦੫॥ naanak kaa paatisaahu disai jaaharaa |4|3|105| The Supreme King of Nanak is immanent and manifest. ||4||3||105|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਕਵਨ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਮੇਲਾਵਉ ਨਿਰਗੁਣ ਬਿਖਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥ kavan jugat melaavau niragun bikhee jeeo |1| How shall You unite me, the worthless and corrupt soul, with Yourself. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਸਦਾ ਸਹਾਈ ਸੰਤ ਪੇਖਹਿ ਸਦਾ ਹਜੂਰਿ ॥ sadaa sahaaee sant pekheh sadaa hajoor | You are the constant help and support of the Saints, who behold You Ever-present. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਹੂਨੜਿਆ ਸੇ ਮਰਨਿੑ ਵਿਸੂਰਿ ਵਿਸੂਰਿ ॥੨॥ naam bihoonarriaa se marana visoor visoor |2| Those who lack the Naam, the Name of the Lord, shall die, engulfed in sorrow and pain. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਦਾਸ ਦਾਸਤਣ ਭਾਇ ਮਿਟਿਆ ਤਿਨਾ ਗਉਣੁ ॥ daas daasatan bhaae mittiaa tinaa gaun | Those servants, who lovingly perform the Lord’s service, are freed from the cycle of reincarnation. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਵਿਸਰਿਆ ਜਿਨੑਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਤਿਨਾੜਾ ਹਾਲੁ ਕਉਣੁ ॥੩॥ visariaa jinaa naam tinaarraa haal kaun |3| What shall be the fate of those who forget the Naam? ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜੈਸੇ ਪਸੁ ਹਰਿੑਆਉ ਤੈਸਾ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਸਭ ॥ jaise pas haraaau taisaa sansaar sabh | As are the cattle which have strayed, so is the entire world. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਬੰਧਨ ਕਾਟਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਹੁ ਆਪਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ॥੪॥੪॥੧੦੬॥ naanak bandhan kaatt milaavahu aap prabh |4|4|106| O God, please cut away Nanak’s bonds, and unite him with Yourself. ||4||4||106|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਹਭੇ ਥੋਕ ਵਿਸਾਰਿ ਹਿਕੋ ਖਿਆਲੁ ਕਰਿ ॥ habhe thok visaar hiko khiaal kar | Forget all other things, and dwell upon the Lord alone. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਝੂਠਾ ਲਾਹਿ ਗੁਮਾਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਅਰਪਿ ਧਰਿ ॥੧॥ jhootthaa laeh gumaan man tan arap dhar |1| Lay aside your false pride, and dedicate your mind and body to Him. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਸਾਲਾਹਿ ਸਿਰਜਨਹਾਰ ਤੂੰ ॥ aatth pehar saalaeh sirajanahaar toon | Twenty-four hours a day, praise the Creator Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜੀਵਾਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਮੂੰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ jeevaan teree daat kirapaa karahu moon |1| rahaau | I live by Your bountiful gifts - please, shower me with Your Mercy! ||1||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੋਈ ਕੰਮੁ ਕਮਾਇ ਜਿਤੁ ਮੁਖੁ ਉਜਲਾ ॥ soee kam kamaae jit mukh ujalaa | So, do that work, by which your face shall be made radiant. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੋਈ ਲਗੈ ਸਚਿ ਜਿਸੁ ਤੂੰ ਦੇਹਿ ਅਲਾ ॥੨॥ soee lagai sach jis toon dehi alaa |2| He alone becomes attached to the Truth, O Lord, unto whom You give it. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜੋ ਨ ਢਹੰਦੋ ਮੂਲਿ ਸੋ ਘਰੁ ਰਾਸਿ ਕਰਿ ॥ jo na dtahando mool so ghar raas kar | So build and adorn that house, which shall never be destroyed. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਿਕੋ ਚਿਤਿ ਵਸਾਇ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਮਰਿ ॥੩॥ hiko chit vasaae kade na jaae mar |3| Enshrine the One Lord within your consciousness; He shall never die. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤਿਨੑਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਰਾਮੁ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਣਿਆ ॥ tinaa piaaraa raam jo prabh bhaaniaa | The Lord is dear to those, who are pleasing to the Will of God. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਭੇਦੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਹੁ ਮੂਲਿ ਸਾਂਈ ਜੇਹਿਆ ॥੧॥ bhed na jaanahu mool saanee jehiaa |1| Know that there is absolutely no difference; they are exactly like the Lord. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਹੋਇ ਨਿਹਾਲੁ ਤੁਮੑ ਸੰਗਿ ਭੇਟਿਆ ॥ man tan hoe nihaal tuma sang bhettiaa | The mind and body are enraptured, meeting with You, O Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਨ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਸਭੁ ਮੇਟਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ sukh paaeaa jan parasaad dukh sabh mettiaa |1| rahaau | Peace is obtained, by the favor of the Lord’s humble servant; all pains are taken away. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜੇਤੇ ਖੰਡ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡ ਉਧਾਰੇ ਤਿੰਨੑ ਖੇ ॥ jete khandd brahamandd udhaare tina khe | As many as are the continents of the world, so many have been saved. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਿਨੑ ਮਨਿ ਵੁਠਾ ਆਪਿ ਪੂਰੇ ਭਗਤ ਸੇ ॥੨॥ jina man vutthaa aap poore bhagat se |2| Those, in whose minds You Yourself dwell, O Lord, are the perfect devotees. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
