ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਚਰਨ ਸੰਗਿ ਮੇਲੀ ॥ kar kirapaa charan sang melee | Showing His Mercy, He joins her with His Feet, - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜ ਆਨੰਦ ਸੁਹੇਲੀ ॥੧॥ sookh sehaj aanand suhelee |1| and she attains celestial peace, joy and comfort. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ਅਤੋਲੀ ॥ saadhasang gun gaae atolee | In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, she sings the Glorious Praises of the Immeasurable Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਦ ਮਤਸਰ ਏ ਖੇਲਤ ਸਭਿ ਜੂਐ ਹਾਰੇ ॥ kaam krodh maaeaa mad matasar e khelat sabh jooai haare | Sexual desire, anger, intoxication with Maya and jealousy - I have lost all of these in the game of chance. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਤੁ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਦਇਆ ਧਰਮੁ ਸਚੁ ਇਹ ਅਪੁਨੈ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਵਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ sat santokh deaa dharam sach ih apunai grih bheetar vaare |1| Purity, contentment, compassion, faith and truthfulness - I have ushered these into the home of my self. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਚੂਕੇ ਸਭਿ ਭਾਰੇ ॥ janam maran chooke sabh bhaare | All the loads of birth and death have been removed. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮਿਲਤ ਸੰਗਿ ਭਇਓ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਲੈ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਤਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ milat sang bheo man niramal gur poorai lai khin meh taare |1| rahaau | Joining the Saints’ Society, my mind has become pure; the Perfect Guru has saved me in an instant. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਭ ਕੀ ਰੇਨੁ ਹੋਇ ਰਹੈ ਮਨੂਆ ਸਗਲੇ ਦੀਸਹਿ ਮੀਤ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥ sabh kee ren hoe rahai manooaa sagale deeseh meet piaare | My mind has become the dust of all, and everyone seems a sweet friend to me. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਭ ਮਧੇ ਰਵਿਆ ਮੇਰਾ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਦਾਨੁ ਦੇਤ ਸਭਿ ਜੀਅ ਸਮੑਾਰੇ ॥੨॥ sabh madhe raviaa meraa tthaakur daan det sabh jeea samaare |2| My Lord and Master is contained in all. He gives His Gifts to all beings, and cherishes them. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਏਕੋ ਏਕੁ ਆਪਿ ਇਕੁ ਏਕੈ ਏਕੈ ਹੈ ਸਗਲਾ ਪਾਸਾਰੇ ॥ eko ek aap ik ekai ekai hai sagalaa paasaare | He Himself is the One and only; from the One, the One and only, came the expanse of the entire creation. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਹੋਏ ਸਗਲ ਸਾਧ ਜਨ ਏਕੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਉਧਾਰੇ ॥੩॥ jap jap hoe sagal saadh jan ek naam dhiaae bahut udhaare |3| Chanting and meditating, all the humble beings have become Holy; meditating on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, so many have been saved. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗਹਿਰ ਗੰਭੀਰ ਬਿਅੰਤ ਗੁਸਾਈ ਅੰਤੁ ਨਹੀ ਕਿਛੁ ਪਾਰਾਵਾਰੇ ॥ gahir ganbheer biant gusaaee ant nahee kichh paaraavaare | The Lord of the Universe is deep, profound and infinite; He has no end or limitation. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤੁਮੑਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਤੇ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਧਿਆਇ ਧਿਆਇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਉ ਨਮਸਕਾਰੇ ॥੪॥੩੬॥ tumaree kripaa te gun gaavai naanak dhiaae dhiaae prabh kau namasakaare |4|36| By Your Grace, Nanak sings Your Glorious Praises; meditating, meditating, he humbly bows to God. ||4||36|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਕਿਆ ਹਮ ਜੰਤ ਕਰਹ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ਜਾਂ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਤੁਝੈ ਮਝਾਰਿ ॥੧॥ kiaa ham jant karah chaturaaee jaan sabh kichh tujhai majhaar |1| What clever games can we play, when everything is contained in You? ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮੇਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਅਪਨੇ ਬਾਲਿਕ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਲੀਲਾ ਧਾਰਿ ॥ mere satigur apane baalik raakhahu leelaa dhaar | O my True Guru, protect me, Your child, through the power of Your play. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਦੇਹੁ ਸੁਮਤਿ ਸਦਾ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ dehu sumat sadaa gun gaavaa mere tthaakur agam apaar |1| rahaau | Grant me the good sense to ever sing Your Glorious Praises, O my Inaccessible and Infinite Lord and Master. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜੈਸੇ ਜਨਨਿ ਜਠਰ ਮਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਨੀ ਓਹੁ ਰਹਤਾ ਨਾਮ ਅਧਾਰਿ ॥ jaise janan jatthar meh praanee ohu rahataa naam adhaar | The mortal is preserved in the womb of his mother, by the Support of the Naam, the Name of the Lord; - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਅਨਦੁ ਕਰੈ ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਸਮੑਾਰੈ ਨਾ ਪੋਹੈ ਅਗਨਾਰਿ ॥੨॥ anad karai saas saas samaarai naa pohai aganaar |2| he makes merry, and with each and every breath he remembers the Lord, and the fire does not touch him. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪਰ ਧਨ ਪਰ ਦਾਰਾ ਪਰ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਇਨ ਸਿਉ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਨਿਵਾਰਿ ॥ par dhan par daaraa par nindaa in siau preet nivaar | Others’ wealth, others’ wives, and the slander of others - renounce your craving for these. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਸੇਵੀ ਰਿਦ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਕੈ ਆਧਾਰਿ ॥੩॥ charan kamal sevee rid antar gur poore kai aadhaar |3| Serve the Lord’s Lotus Feet within your heart, and hold to the Support of the Perfect Guru. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗ੍ਰਿਹੁ ਮੰਦਰ ਮਹਲਾ ਜੋ ਦੀਸਹਿ ਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਸੰਗਾਰਿ ॥ grihu mandar mahalaa jo deeseh naa koee sangaar | Houses, mansions and palaces which you see - none of these shall go with you. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਬ ਲਗੁ ਜੀਵਹਿ ਕਲੀ ਕਾਲ ਮਹਿ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮੑਾਰਿ ॥੪॥੩੭॥ jab lag jeeveh kalee kaal meh jan naanak naam samaar |4|37| As long as you live in this Dark Age of Kali Yuga, O servant Nanak, remember the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||4||37|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਰਾਜ ਮਿਲਕ ਜੋਬਨ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਸੋਭਾ ਰੂਪਵੰਤੁ ਜੋੁਆਨੀ ॥ raaj milak joban grih sobhaa roopavant juoaanee | Power, property, youth, household, fame and the beauty of youth; - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬਹੁਤੁ ਦਰਬੁ ਹਸਤੀ ਅਰੁ ਘੋੜੇ ਲਾਲ ਲਾਖ ਬੈ ਆਨੀ ॥ bahut darab hasatee ar ghorre laal laakh bai aanee | great wealth, elephants, horses and jewels, purchased with tens of thousands of dollars; - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਆਗੈ ਦਰਗਹਿ ਕਾਮਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਛੋਡਿ ਚਲੈ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੀ ॥੧॥ aagai darageh kaam na aavai chhodd chalai abhimaanee |1| hereafter, these shall be of no avail in the Court of the Lord; the proud must depart, leaving them behind. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਾਹੇ ਏਕ ਬਿਨਾ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਈਐ ॥ kaahe ek binaa chit laaeeai | Why center your consciousness on any other than the Lord? - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਊਠਤ ਬੈਠਤ ਸੋਵਤ ਜਾਗਤ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ aootthat baitthat sovat jaagat sadaa sadaa har dhiaaeeai |1| rahaau | Sitting down, standing up, sleeping and waking, forever and ever, meditate on the Lord. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮਹਾ ਬਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਆਖਾੜੇ ਰਣ ਮਹਿ ਜਿਤੇ ਪਵਾੜੇ ॥ mahaa bachitr sundar aakhaarre ran meh jite pavaarre | He may have the most wondrous and beautiful arenas, and be victorious on the field of battle. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
