ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ gur kaa darasan agam apaaraa |1| but the Guru’s system is profound and unequalled. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਦਰਸਨਿ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਗਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥ gur kai darasan mukat gat hoe | The Guru’s system is the way to liberation. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਾਚਾ ਆਪਿ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਸੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ saachaa aap vasai man soe |1| rahaau | The True Lord Himself comes to dwell in the mind. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰ ਦਰਸਨਿ ਉਧਰੈ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥ gur darasan udharai sansaaraa | Through the Guru’s system, the world is saved, - Guru Amardas Ji
ਜੇ ਕੋ ਲਾਏ ਭਾਉ ਪਿਆਰਾ ॥ je ko laae bhaau piaaraa | if it is embraced with love and affection. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਭਾਉ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲਾਏ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਕੋਇ ॥ bhaau piaaraa laae viralaa koe | How rare is that person who truly loves the Guru’s Way. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਦਰਸਨਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥ gur kai darasan sadaa sukh hoe |2| Through the Guru’s system, everlasting peace is obtained. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਦਰਸਨਿ ਮੋਖ ਦੁਆਰੁ ॥ gur kai darasan mokh duaar | Through the Guru’s system, the Door of Salvation is obtained. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵੈ ਪਰਵਾਰ ਸਾਧਾਰੁ ॥ satigur sevai paravaar saadhaar | Serving the True Guru, one’s family is saved. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਿਗੁਰੇ ਕਉ ਗਤਿ ਕਾਈ ਨਾਹੀ ॥ nigure kau gat kaaee naahee | There is no salvation for those who have no Guru. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਅਵਗਣਿ ਮੁਠੇ ਚੋਟਾ ਖਾਹੀ ॥੩॥ avagan mutthe chottaa khaahee |3| Beguiled by worthless sins, they are struck down. ||3|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸਰੀਰ ॥ gur kai sabad sukh saant sareer | Through the Word of the Guru’s Shabad, the body finds peace and tranquility. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਤਾ ਕਉ ਲਗੈ ਨ ਪੀਰ ॥ guramukh taa kau lagai na peer | The Gurmukh is not afflicted by pain. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਜਮਕਾਲੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥ jamakaal tis nerr na aavai | The Messenger of Death does not come near him. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਾਚਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ॥੪॥੧॥੪੦॥ naanak guramukh saach samaavai |4|1|40| O Nanak, the Gurmukh is absorbed in the True Lord. ||4||1||40|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥ aasaa mahalaa 3 | Aasaa, Third Mehl: - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਬਦਿ ਮੁਆ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥ sabad muaa vichahu aap gavaae | One who dies in the Word of the Shabad, eradicates his self-conceit from within. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵੇ ਤਿਲੁ ਨ ਤਮਾਇ ॥ satigur seve til na tamaae | He serves the True Guru, with no iota of self-interest. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਿਰਭਉ ਦਾਤਾ ਸਦਾ ਮਨਿ ਹੋਇ ॥ nirbhau daataa sadaa man hoe | The Fearless Lord, the Great Giver, ever abides in his mind. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਪਾਏ ਭਾਗਿ ਕੋਇ ॥੧॥ sachee baanee paae bhaag koe |1| The True Bani of the Word is obtained only by good destiny. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਣ ਸੰਗ੍ਰਹੁ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਅਉਗੁਣ ਜਾਹਿ ॥ gun sangrahu vichahu aaugun jaeh | So gather merits, and let your demerits depart from within you. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਮਾਹਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ poore gur kai sabad samaeh |1| rahaau | You shall be absorbed into the Shabad, the Word of the Perfect Guru. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਣਾ ਕਾ ਗਾਹਕੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੋ ਗੁਣ ਜਾਣੈ ॥ gunaa kaa gaahak hovai so gun jaanai | One who purchases merits, knows the value of these merits. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਸਬਦਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਖਾਣੈ ॥ amrit sabad naam vakhaanai | He chants the Ambrosial Nectar of the Word, and the Name of the Lord. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਾਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸੂਚਾ ਹੋਇ ॥ saachee baanee soochaa hoe | Through the True Bani of the Word, he becomes pure. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਣ ਤੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥ gun te naam paraapat hoe |2| Through merit, the Name is obtained. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਣ ਅਮੋਲਕ ਪਾਏ ਨ ਜਾਹਿ ॥ gun amolak paae na jaeh | The invaluable merits cannot be acquired. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਮਨਿ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸਾਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਮਾਹਿ ॥ man niramal saachai sabad samaeh | The pure mind is absorbed into the True Word of the Shabad. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਜਿਨੑ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥ se vaddabhaagee jina naam dhiaaeaa | How very fortunate are those who meditate on the Naam, - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਦਾ ਗੁਣਦਾਤਾ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਇਆ ॥੩॥ sadaa gunadaataa man vasaaeaa |3| and ever enshrine in their minds the Lord, the Giver of merit. ||3|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਜੋ ਗੁਣ ਸੰਗ੍ਰਹੈ ਤਿਨੑ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ਜਾਉ ॥ jo gun sangrahai tina balihaarai jaau | I am a sacrifice to those who gather merits. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਦਰਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਸਾਚੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਉ ॥ dar saachai saache gun gaau | At the Gate of Truth, I sing the Glorious Praises of the True One. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਆਪੇ ਦੇਵੈ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥ aape devai sehaj subhaae | He Himself spontaneously bestows His gifts. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥੪॥੨॥੪੧॥ naanak keemat kehan na jaae |4|2|41| O Nanak, the value of the Lord cannot be described. ||4||2||41|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਵਿਚਿ ਵਡੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥ satigur vich vaddee vaddiaaee | Great is the greatness of the True Guru; - Guru Amardas Ji
ਚਿਰੀ ਵਿਛੁੰਨੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਈ ॥ chiree vichhune mel milaaee | He merges in His Merger, those who have been separated for so long. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥ aape mele mel milaae | He Himself merges the merged in His Merger. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਆਪਣੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਆਪੇ ਪਾਏ ॥੧॥ aapanee keemat aape paae |1| He Himself knows His own worth. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਿਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਹੋਇ ॥ har kee keemat kin bidh hoe | How can anyone appraise the Lord’s worth? - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਅਪਰੰਪਰੁ ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਜਨੁ ਕੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ har aparanpar agam agochar gur kai sabad milai jan koe |1| rahaau | Through the Word of the Guru’s Shabad, one may merge with the Infinite, Unapproachable and Incomprehensible Lord. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਜਾਣੈ ਕੋਇ ॥ guramukh keemat jaanai koe | Few are the Gurmukhs who know His worth. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਵਿਰਲੇ ਕਰਮਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥ virale karam paraapat hoe | How rare are those who receive the Lord’s Grace. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਊਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਊਚਾ ਹੋਇ ॥ aoochee baanee aoochaa hoe | Through the Sublime Bani of His Word, one becomes sublime. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਵਖਾਣੈ ਕੋਇ ॥੨॥ guramukh sabad vakhaanai koe |2| The Gurmukh chants the Word of the Shabad. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਵਿਣੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਦੁਖੁ ਦਰਦੁ ਸਰੀਰਿ ॥ vin naavai dukh darad sareer | Without the Name, the body suffers in pain; - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟੇ ਤਾ ਉਤਰੈ ਪੀਰ ॥ satigur bhette taa utarai peer | but when one meets the True Guru, then that pain is removed. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਭੇਟੇ ਦੁਖੁ ਕਮਾਇ ॥ bin gur bhette dukh kamaae | Without meeting the Guru, the mortal earns only pain. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਬਹੁਤੀ ਮਿਲੈ ਸਜਾਇ ॥੩॥ manamukh bahutee milai sajaae |3| The self-willed manmukh receives only more punishment. ||3|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੀਠਾ ਅਤਿ ਰਸੁ ਹੋਇ ॥ har kaa naam meetthaa at ras hoe | The essence of the Lord’s Name is so very sweet; - Guru Amardas Ji
ਪੀਵਤ ਰਹੈ ਪੀਆਏ ਸੋਇ ॥ peevat rahai peeae soe | he alone drinks it, whom the Lord causes to drink it. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪਾਏ ॥ gur kirapaa te har ras paae | By Guru’s Grace, the essence of the Lord is obtained. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਏ ॥੪॥੩॥੪੨॥ naanak naam rate gat paae |4|3|42| O Nanak, imbued with the Naam, the Name of the Lord, salvation is attained. ||4||3||42|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਸੇਵਤ ਹੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸਰੀਰ ॥ sevat hee sukh saant sareer | Serving Him, the body acquires peace and tranquility. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਬਦਿ ਤਰੇ ਜਨ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥ sabad tare jan sehaj subhaae | Through the Word of the Shabad, His humble servants easily swim across. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਹਮ ਸਦ ਲਾਗਹ ਪਾਇ ॥੧॥ tin kai ham sad laagah paae |1| I fall at their feet forever and ever. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji
