ਐਸੇ ਘਰ ਹਮ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਬਸਾਏ ॥ aise ghar ham bahut basaae | I lived in many such homes, O Lord, - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਜਬ ਹਮ ਰਾਮ ਗਰਭ ਹੋਇ ਆਏ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ jab ham raam garabh hoe aae |1| rahaau | before I came into the womb this time. ||1||Pause|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਜੋਗੀ ਜਤੀ ਤਪੀ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਚਾਰੀ ॥ jogee jatee tapee brahamachaaree | I was a Yogi, a celibate, a penitent, and a Brahmchaaree, with strict self-discipline. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਕਬਹੂ ਰਾਜਾ ਛਤ੍ਰਪਤਿ ਕਬਹੂ ਭੇਖਾਰੀ ॥੨॥ kabahoo raajaa chhatrapat kabahoo bhekhaaree |2| Sometimes I was a king, sitting on the throne, and sometimes I was a beggar. ||2|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਸਾਕਤ ਮਰਹਿ ਸੰਤ ਸਭਿ ਜੀਵਹਿ ॥ saakat mareh sant sabh jeeveh | The faithless cynics shall die, while the Saints shall all survive. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਰਾਮ ਰਸਾਇਨੁ ਰਸਨਾ ਪੀਵਹਿ ॥੩॥ raam rasaaein rasanaa peeveh |3| They drink in the Lord’s Ambrosial Essence with their tongues. ||3|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕੀਜੈ ॥ kahu kabeer prabh kirapaa keejai | Says Kabeer, O God, have mercy on me. - Bhagat Kabir Ji

ਹਰੀ ਅੰਗੂਰੀ ਗਦਹਾ ਚਰੈ ॥ haree angooree gadahaa charai | The donkey grazes upon the green grass; - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਨਿਤ ਉਠਿ ਹਾਸੈ ਹੀਗੈ ਮਰੈ ॥੧॥ nit utth haasai heegai marai |1| arising each day, he laughs and brays, and then dies. ||1|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਮਾਤਾ ਭੈਸਾ ਅੰਮੁਹਾ ਜਾਇ ॥ maataa bhaisaa amuhaa jaae | The bull is intoxicated, and runs around wildly. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਕੁਦਿ ਕੁਦਿ ਚਰੈ ਰਸਾਤਲਿ ਪਾਇ ॥੨॥ kud kud charai rasaatal paae |2| He romps and eats and then falls into hell. ||2|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਭਈ ਖੇਡ ॥ kahu kabeer paragatt bhee khedd | Says Kabeer, a strange sport has become manifest: - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਲੇਲੇ ਕਉ ਚੂਘੈ ਨਿਤ ਭੇਡ ॥੩॥ lele kau chooghai nit bhedd |3| the sheep is sucking the milk of her lamb. ||3|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਰਾਮ ਰਮਤ ਮਤਿ ਪਰਗਟੀ ਆਈ ॥ raam ramat mat paragattee aaee | Chanting the Lord’s Name, my intellect is enlightened. - Bhagat Kabir Ji

ਪੂਰਬ ਜਨਮ ਹਉ ਤਪ ਕਾ ਹੀਨਾ ॥੧॥ poorab janam hau tap kaa heenaa |1| because in my previous life, I did not practice penance and intense meditation. ||1|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਅਬ ਕਹੁ ਰਾਮ ਕਵਨ ਗਤਿ ਮੋਰੀ ॥ ab kahu raam kavan gat moree | Now tell me, Lord, what will my condition be? - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਤਜੀ ਲੇ ਬਨਾਰਸ ਮਤਿ ਭਈ ਥੋਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ tajee le banaaras mat bhee thoree |1| rahaau | I left Benares - I had little common sense. ||1||Pause|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਸਗਲ ਜਨਮੁ ਸਿਵ ਪੁਰੀ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥ sagal janam siv puree gavaaeaa | I wasted my whole life in the city of Shiva; - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਮਰਤੀ ਬਾਰ ਮਗਹਰਿ ਉਠਿ ਆਇਆ ॥੨॥ maratee baar magahar utth aaeaa |2| at the time of my death, I moved to Magahar. ||2|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਬਹੁਤੁ ਬਰਸ ਤਪੁ ਕੀਆ ਕਾਸੀ ॥ bahut baras tap keea kaasee | For many years, I practiced penance and intense meditation at Kaashi; - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਮਰਨੁ ਭਇਆ ਮਗਹਰ ਕੀ ਬਾਸੀ ॥੩॥ maran bheaa magahar kee baasee |3| now that my time to die has come, I have come to dwell at Magahar! ||3|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਕਾਸੀ ਮਗਹਰ ਸਮ ਬੀਚਾਰੀ ॥ kaasee magahar sam beechaaree | Kaashi and Magahar - I consider them the same. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਓਛੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਕੈਸੇ ਉਤਰਸਿ ਪਾਰੀ ॥੪॥ ochhee bhagat kaise utaras paaree |4| With inadequate devotion, how can anyone swim across? ||4|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਕਹੁ ਗੁਰ ਗਜ ਸਿਵ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਜਾਨੈ ॥ kahu gur gaj siv sabh ko jaanai | Says Kabeer, the Guru and Ganaysha and Shiva all know - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਮੁਆ ਕਬੀਰੁ ਰਮਤ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਰਾਮੈ ॥੫॥੧੫॥ muaa kabeer ramat sree raamai |5|15| that Kabeer died chanting the Lord’s Name. ||5||15|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji

ਚੋਆ ਚੰਦਨ ਮਰਦਨ ਅੰਗਾ ॥ choaa chandan maradan angaa | You may anoint your limbs with sandalwood oil, - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਸੋ ਤਨੁ ਜਲੈ ਕਾਠ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਾ ॥੧॥ so tan jalai kaatth kai sangaa |1| but in the end, that body will be burned with the firewood. ||1|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਇਸੁ ਤਨ ਧਨ ਕੀ ਕਵਨ ਬਡਾਈ ॥ eis tan dhan kee kavan baddaaee | Why should anyone take pride in this body or wealth? - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਧਰਨਿ ਪਰੈ ਉਰਵਾਰਿ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ dharan parai uravaar na jaaee |1| rahaau | They shall end up lying on the ground; they shall not go along with you to the world beyond. ||1||Pause|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਰਾਤਿ ਜਿ ਸੋਵਹਿ ਦਿਨ ਕਰਹਿ ਕਾਮ ॥ raat ji soveh din kareh kaam | They sleep by night and work during the day, - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਇਕੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਲੇਹਿ ਨ ਹਰਿ ਕੋ ਨਾਮ ॥੨॥ eik khin lehi na har ko naam |2| but they do not chant the Lord’s Name, even for an instant. ||2|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਹਾਥਿ ਤ ਡੋਰ ਮੁਖਿ ਖਾਇਓ ਤੰਬੋਰ ॥ haath ta ddor mukh khaaeo tanbor | They hold the string of the kite in their hands, and chew betel leaves in their mouths, - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਮਰਤੀ ਬਾਰ ਕਸਿ ਬਾਧਿਓ ਚੋਰ ॥੩॥ maratee baar kas baadhio chor |3| but at the time of death, they shall be tied up tight, like thieves. ||3|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਰਸਿ ਰਸਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵੈ ॥ guramat ras ras har gun gaavai | Through the Guru’s Teachings, and immersed in His Love, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਰਾਮੈ ਰਾਮ ਰਮਤ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੪॥ raamai raam ramat sukh paavai |4| Chant the Name of the Lord, Raam, Raam, and find peace. ||4|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਕੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਈ ॥ kirapaa kar kai naam drirraaee | In His Mercy, He implants the Naam within us; - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਬਾਸੁ ਸੁਗੰਧ ਬਸਾਈ ॥੫॥ har har baas sugandh basaaee |5| inhale deeply the sweet aroma and fragrance of the Lord, Har, Har. ||5|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਕਹਤ ਕਬੀਰ ਚੇਤਿ ਰੇ ਅੰਧਾ ॥ kehat kabeer chet re andhaa | Says Kabeer, remember Him, you blind fool! - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਸਤਿ ਰਾਮੁ ਝੂਠਾ ਸਭੁ ਧੰਧਾ ॥੬॥੧੬॥ sat raam jhootthaa sabh dhandhaa |6|16| The Lord is True; all worldly affairs are false. ||6||16|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji

ਦੁਖ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਸੁਖ ਕੀਓ ਬਿਸਰਾਮ ॥ dukh binase sukh keeo bisaraam | Pain has been eliminated, and I dwell in peac and comfort. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਬੈਰੀ ਉਲਟਿ ਭਏ ਹੈ ਮੀਤਾ ॥ bairee ulatt bhe hai meetaa | My enemies have been transformed into friends. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਸਾਕਤ ਉਲਟਿ ਸੁਜਨ ਭਏ ਚੀਤਾ ॥੧॥ saakat ulatt sujan bhe cheetaa |1| The faithless cynics have been transformed into good-hearted people. ||1|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਅਬ ਮੋਹਿ ਸਰਬ ਕੁਸਲ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਨਿਆ ॥ ab mohi sarab kusal kar maaniaa | Now, I feel that everything brings me peace. - Bhagat Kabir Ji
ਸਾਂਤਿ ਭਈ ਜਬ ਗੋਬਿਦੁ ਜਾਨਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ saant bhee jab gobid jaaniaa |1| rahaau | Peace and tranquility have come, since I realized the Lord of the Universe. ||1||Pause|| - Bhagat Kabir Ji
