ਨਾਨਕ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਨੁ ਕੀਤਾ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ॥੨॥ naanak raam naam dhan keetaa poore gur parasaad |2| Nanak has made the Lord’s Name his wealth, by the Grace of the Perfect Guru. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਧੋਹੁ ਨ ਚਲੀ ਖਸਮ ਨਾਲਿ ਲਬਿ ਮੋਹਿ ਵਿਗੁਤੇ ॥ dhohu na chalee khasam naal lab mohi vigute | Deception does not work with our Lord and Master; through their greed and emotional attachment, people are ruined. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਰਤਬ ਕਰਨਿ ਭਲੇਰਿਆ ਮਦਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਸੁਤੇ ॥ karatab karan bhaleriaa mad maaeaa sute | They do their evil deeds, and sleep in the intoxication of Maya. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਜੂਨਿ ਭਵਾਈਅਨਿ ਜਮ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਮੁਤੇ ॥ fir fir joon bhavaaeean jam maarag mute | Time and time again, they are consigned to reincarnation, and abandoned on the path of Death. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕੀਤਾ ਪਾਇਨਿ ਆਪਣਾ ਦੁਖ ਸੇਤੀ ਜੁਤੇ ॥ keetaa paaein aapanaa dukh setee jute | They receive the consequences of their own actions, and are yoked to their pain. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਇ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਐ ਸਭ ਮੰਦੀ ਰੁਤੇ ॥੧੨॥ naanak naae visaariai sabh mandee rute |12| O Nanak, if one forgets the Name, all the seasons are evil. ||12|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਉਠੰਦਿਆ ਬਹੰਦਿਆ ਸਵੰਦਿਆ ਸੁਖੁ ਸੋਇ ॥ autthandiaa bahandiaa savandiaa sukh soe | While standing up, sitting down and sleeping, be at peace; - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਲਾਹਿਐ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥ naanak naam salaahiai man tan seetal hoe |1| O Nanak, praising the Naam, the Name of the Lord, the mind and body are cooled and soothed. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਲਾਲਚਿ ਅਟਿਆ ਨਿਤ ਫਿਰੈ ਸੁਆਰਥੁ ਕਰੇ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥ laalach attiaa nit firai suaarath kare na koe | Filled with greed, he constantly wanders around; he does not do any good deeds. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਿਸੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟੈ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਸੋਇ ॥੨॥ jis gur bhettai naanakaa tis man vasiaa soe |2| O Nanak, the Lord abides within the mind of one who meets with the Guru. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਸਭੇ ਵਸਤੂ ਕਉੜੀਆ ਸਚੇ ਨਾਉ ਮਿਠਾ ॥ sabhe vasatoo kaurreea sache naau mitthaa | All material things are bitter; the True Name alone is sweet. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਾਦੁ ਆਇਆ ਤਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਜਨਾਂ ਚਖਿ ਸਾਧੀ ਡਿਠਾ ॥ saad aaeaa tin har janaan chakh saadhee dditthaa | Those humble servants of the Lord who taste it, come to savor its flavor. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮਿ ਜਿਸੁ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਮਨਿ ਤਿਸੈ ਵੁਠਾ ॥ paarabraham jis likhiaa man tisai vutthaa | It comes to dwell within the mind of those who are so pre-destined by the Supreme Lord God. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਇਕੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਾਉ ਦੁਯਾ ਕੁਠਾ ॥ eik niranjan rav rahiaa bhaau duyaa kutthaa | The One Immaculate Lord is pervading everywhere; He destroys the love of duality. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਮੰਗੈ ਜੋੜਿ ਕਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦੇਵੈ ਤੁਠਾ ॥੧੩॥ har naanak mangai jorr kar prabh devai tutthaa |13| Nanak begs for the Lord’s Name, with his palms pressed together; by His Pleasure, God has granted it. ||13|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਜਾਚੜੀ ਸਾ ਸਾਰੁ ਜੋ ਜਾਚੰਦੀ ਹੇਕੜੋ ॥ jaacharree saa saar jo jaachandee hekarro | The most excellent begging is begging for the One Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗਾਲੑੀ ਬਿਆ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਧਣੀ ਵਿਹੂਣੀਆ ॥੧॥ gaalaee biaa vikaar naanak dhanee vihooneea |1| Other talk is corrupt, O Nanak, except that of the Lord Master. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਨੀਹਿ ਜਿ ਵਿਧਾ ਮੰਨੁ ਪਛਾਣੂ ਵਿਰਲੋ ਥਿਓ ॥ neehi ji vidhaa man pachhaanoo viralo thio | One who recognizes the Lord is very rare; his mind is pierced through with the Love of the Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜੋੜਣਹਾਰਾ ਸੰਤੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਾਧਰੁ ਪਧਰੋ ॥੨॥ jorranahaaraa sant naanak paadhar padharo |2| Such a Saint is the Uniter, O Nanak - he straightens out the path. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਸੋਈ ਸੇਵਿਹੁ ਜੀਅੜੇ ਦਾਤਾ ਬਖਸਿੰਦੁ ॥ soee sevihu jeearre daataa bakhasind | Serve Him, O my soul, who is the Giver and the Forgiver. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਸਭਿ ਬਿਨਾਸੁ ਹੋਨਿ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਗੋਵਿੰਦੁ ॥ kilavikh sabh binaas hon simarat govind | All sinful mistakes are erased, by meditating in remembrance on the Lord of the Universe. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਰਿ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਸਾਧੂ ਦਸਿਆ ਜਪੀਐ ਗੁਰਮੰਤੁ ॥ har maarag saadhoo dasiaa japeeai guramant | The Holy Saint has shown me the Way to the Lord; I chant the GurMantra. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮਾਇਆ ਸੁਆਦ ਸਭਿ ਫਿਕਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਵੰਦੁ ॥ maaeaa suaad sabh fikiaa har man bhaavand | The taste of Maya is totally bland and insipid; the Lord alone is pleasing to my mind. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਧਿਆਇ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੈ ਜਿਨਿ ਦਿਤੀ ਜਿੰਦੁ ॥੧੪॥ dhiaae naanak paramesarai jin ditee jind |14| Meditate, O Nanak, on the Transcendent Lord, who has blessed you with your soul and your life. ||14|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਵਤ ਲਗੀ ਸਚੇ ਨਾਮ ਕੀ ਜੋ ਬੀਜੇ ਸੋ ਖਾਇ ॥ vat lagee sache naam kee jo beeje so khaae | The time has come to plant the seed of the Lord’s Name; one who plants it, shall eat its fruit. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤਿਸਹਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਆਇ ॥੧॥ tiseh paraapat naanakaa jis no likhiaa aae |1| He alone receives it, O Nanak, whose destiny is so pre-ordained. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਮੰਗਣਾ ਤ ਸਚੁ ਇਕੁ ਜਿਸੁ ਤੁਸਿ ਦੇਵੈ ਆਪਿ ॥ manganaa ta sach ik jis tus devai aap | If one begs, then he should beg for the Name of the True One, which is given only by His Pleasure. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਿਤੁ ਖਾਧੈ ਮਨੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤੀਐ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦਾਤਿ ॥੨॥ jit khaadhai man tripateeai naanak saahib daat |2| Eating this gift from the Lord and Master, O Nanak, the mind is satisfied. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਲਾਹਾ ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਸੇ ਖਟਹਿ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਰਾਸਿ ॥ laahaa jag meh se khatteh jin har dhan raas | They alone earn profit in this world, who have the wealth of the Lord’s Name. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਦੁਤੀਆ ਭਾਉ ਨ ਜਾਣਨੀ ਸਚੇ ਦੀ ਆਸ ॥ duteea bhaau na jaananee sache dee aas | They do not know the love of duality; they place their hopes in the True Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਏਕੁ ਸਰੇਵਿਆ ਹੋਰੁ ਸਭ ਵਿਣਾਸੁ ॥ nihachal ek sareviaa hor sabh vinaas | They serve the One Eternal Lord, and give up everything else. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਜਿਸੁ ਵਿਸਰੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਸਾਸੁ ॥ paarabraham jis visarai tis birathaa saas | One who forgets the Supreme Lord God - useless is his breath. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕੰਠਿ ਲਾਇ ਜਨ ਰਖਿਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਸੁ ॥੧੫॥ kantth laae jan rakhiaa naanak bal jaas |15| God draws His humble servant close in His loving embrace and protects him - Nanak is a sacrifice to Him. ||15|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮਿ ਫੁਰਮਾਇਆ ਮੀਹੁ ਵੁਠਾ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥ paarabraham furamaaeaa meehu vutthaa sehaj subhaae | The Supreme Lord God gave the Order, and the rain automatically began to fall. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਅੰਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਉਪਜਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਿਥਮੀ ਰਜੀ ਤਿਪਤਿ ਅਘਾਇ ॥ an dhan bahut upajiaa prithamee rajee tipat aghaae | Grain and wealth were produced in abundance; the earth was totally satisfied and satiated. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਗੁਣ ਉਚਰੈ ਦੁਖੁ ਦਾਲਦੁ ਗਇਆ ਬਿਲਾਇ ॥ sadaa sadaa gun ucharai dukh daalad geaa bilaae | Forever and ever, chant the Glorious Praises of the Lord, and pain and poverty shall run away. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪੂਰਬਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਪਾਇਆ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਤਿਸੈ ਰਜਾਇ ॥ poorab likhiaa paaeaa miliaa tisai rajaae | People obtain that which they are pre-ordained to receive, according to the Will of the Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪਰਮੇਸਰਿ ਜੀਵਾਲਿਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੈ ਧਿਆਇ ॥੧॥ paramesar jeevaaliaa naanak tisai dhiaae |1| The Transcendent Lord keeps you alive; O Nanak, meditate on Him. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
