ਜੋ ਮਾਰੇ ਤਿਨਿ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮਿ ਸੇ ਕਿਸੈ ਨ ਸੰਦੇ ॥ jo maare tin paarabraham se kisai na sande | Those who are struck down by the Supreme Lord God do not belong to anyone. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਵੈਰੁ ਕਰਨਿ ਨਿਰਵੈਰ ਨਾਲਿ ਧਰਮਿ ਨਿਆਇ ਪਚੰਦੇ ॥ vair karan niravair naal dharam niaae pachande | Those who hate the One who has no hatred, are destroyed by righteous justice. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜੋ ਜੋ ਸੰਤਿ ਸਰਾਪਿਆ ਸੇ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਭਵੰਦੇ ॥ jo jo sant saraapiaa se fireh bhavande | Those who are cursed by the Saints wander around lost. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪੇਡੁ ਮੁੰਢਾਹੂ ਕਟਿਆ ਤਿਸੁ ਡਾਲ ਸੁਕੰਦੇ ॥੩੧॥ pedd mundtaahoo kattiaa tis ddaal sukande |31| When the tree is cut off at its roots, the branches wither and die. ||31|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਗੁਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਆ ਭੰਨਣ ਘੜਣ ਸਮਰਥੁ ॥ gur naanak har naam drirraaeaa bhanan gharran samarath | Guru Nanak implanted the Naam, the Name of the Lord, within me; He is All-powerful, to create and destroy. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਦਾ ਸਮਾਲਹਿ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਤੂ ਦੁਖੁ ਸਬਾਇਆ ਲਥੁ ॥੧॥ prabh sadaa samaaleh mitr too dukh sabaaeaa lath |1| Remember God forever, my friend, and all your suffering will disappear. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਖੁਧਿਆਵੰਤੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਈ ਲਾਜ ਕੁਲਾਜ ਕੁਬੋਲੁ ॥ khudhiaavant na jaanee laaj kulaaj kubol | The hungry person does not care about honor, dishonor or harsh words. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਮਾਂਗੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਸੰਜੋਗੁ ॥੨॥ naanak maangai naam har kar kirapaa sanjog |2| Nanak begs for the Name of the Lord; please grant Your Grace, and unite me with Yourself. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪਉੜੀ ॥ paurree | Pauree: - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜੇਵੇਹੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਵਦਾ ਤੇਵੇਹੇ ਫਲਤੇ ॥ jevehe karam kamaavadaa tevehe falate | According to the deeds which one does, so are the fruits one obtains. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਚਬੇ ਤਤਾ ਲੋਹ ਸਾਰੁ ਵਿਚਿ ਸੰਘੈ ਪਲਤੇ ॥ chabe tataa loh saar vich sanghai palate | If someone chews on red-hot iron, his throat will be burned. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਘਤਿ ਗਲਾਵਾਂ ਚਾਲਿਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਦੂਤਿ ਅਮਲ ਤੇ ॥ ghat galaavaan chaaliaa tin doot amal te | The halter is put around his neck and he is led away, because of the evil deeds he has done. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਕਾਈ ਆਸ ਨ ਪੁੰਨੀਆ ਨਿਤ ਪਰ ਮਲੁ ਹਿਰਤੇ ॥ kaaee aas na puneea nit par mal hirate | None of his desires are fulfilled; he continually steals the filth of others. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਕੀਆ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ਅਕਿਰਤਘਣ ਵਿਚਿ ਜੋਨੀ ਫਿਰਤੇ ॥ keea na jaanai akirataghan vich jonee firate | The ungrateful wretch does not appreciate what he has been given; he wanders lost in reincarnation. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਸਭੇ ਧਿਰਾਂ ਨਿਖੁਟੀਅਸੁ ਹਿਰਿ ਲਈਅਸੁ ਧਰ ਤੇ ॥ sabhe dhiraan nikhutteeas hir leeas dhar te | He loses all support, when the Support of the Lord is taken away from him. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਵਿਝਣ ਕਲਹ ਨ ਦੇਵਦਾ ਤਾਂ ਲਇਆ ਕਰਤੇ ॥ vijhan kalah na devadaa taan leaa karate | He does not let the embers of strife die down, and so the Creator destroys him. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜੋ ਜੋ ਕਰਤੇ ਅਹੰਮੇਉ ਝੜਿ ਧਰਤੀ ਪੜਤੇ ॥੩੨॥ jo jo karate ahameo jharr dharatee parrate |32| Those who indulge in egotism crumble and fall to the ground. ||32|| - Guru Ramdas Ji

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਬਿਬੇਕ ਬੁਧਿ ਹੋਇ ॥ guramukh giaan bibek budh hoe | The Gurmukh is blessed with spiritual wisdom and a discerning intellect. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਹਾਰੁ ਪਰੋਇ ॥ har gun gaavai hiradai haar paroe | He sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord, and weaves this garland into his heart. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਪਵਿਤੁ ਪਾਵਨੁ ਪਰਮ ਬੀਚਾਰੀ ॥ pavit paavan param beechaaree | He becomes the purest of the pure, a being of supreme understanding. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਜਿ ਓਸੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਪਾਰਿ ਉਤਾਰੀ ॥ ji os milai tis paar utaaree | Whoever he meets, he saves and carries across. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਬਾਸਨਾ ਸਮਾਣੀ ॥ antar har naam baasanaa samaanee | The fragrance of the Lord’s Name permeates his being deep within. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਦਰਿ ਸੋਭਾ ਮਹਾ ਉਤਮ ਬਾਣੀ ॥ har dar sobhaa mahaa utam baanee | He is honored in the Court of the Lord, and his speech is the most sublime. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਜਿ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਸੁਣੈ ਸੁ ਹੋਇ ਨਿਹਾਲੁ ॥ ji purakh sunai su hoe nihaal | Those who hear him are delighted. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਨੁ ਮਾਲੁ ॥੧॥ naanak satigur miliai paaeaa naam dhan maal |1| O Nanak, meeting the True Guru, one obtains the wealth and property of the Naam. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਜੀਅ ਕੀ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਪੈ ਕਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭਾਵੈ ॥ satigur ke jeea kee saar na jaapai ki poorai satigur bhaavai | The sublime state of the True Guru is not known; no one knows what pleases the Perfect True Guru. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਗੁਰਸਿਖਾਂ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਵਰਤੈ ਜੋ ਸਿਖਾਂ ਨੋ ਲੋਚੈ ਸੋ ਗੁਰ ਖੁਸੀ ਆਵੈ ॥ gurasikhaan andar satiguroo varatai jo sikhaan no lochai so gur khusee aavai | Deep within the hearts of His GurSikhs, the True Guru is pervading. The Guru is pleased with those who long for His Sikhs. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਆਖੈ ਸੁ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਵਨਿ ਸੁ ਜਪੁ ਕਮਾਵਹਿ ਗੁਰਸਿਖਾਂ ਕੀ ਘਾਲ ਸਚਾ ਥਾਇ ਪਾਵੈ ॥ satigur aakhai su kaar kamaavan su jap kamaaveh gurasikhaan kee ghaal sachaa thaae paavai | As the True Guru directs them, they do their work and chant their prayers. The True Lord accepts the service of His GurSikhs. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਵਿਣੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਹੁਕਮੈ ਜਿ ਗੁਰਸਿਖਾਂ ਪਾਸਹੁ ਕੰਮੁ ਕਰਾਇਆ ਲੋੜੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਗੁਰਸਿਖੁ ਫਿਰਿ ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥ vin satigur ke hukamai ji gurasikhaan paasahu kam karaaeaa lorre tis gurasikh fir nerr na aavai | But those who want the GurSikhs to work for them, without the Order of the True Guru - the Guru’s Sikhs shall not come near them again. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਗੁਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਅਗੈ ਕੋ ਜੀਉ ਲਾਇ ਘਾਲੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਅਗੈ ਗੁਰਸਿਖੁ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥ gur satigur agai ko jeeo laae ghaalai tis agai gurasikh kaar kamaavai | One who works diligently for the Guru, the True Guru - the GurSikhs work for him. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜਿ ਠਗੀ ਆਵੈ ਠਗੀ ਉਠਿ ਜਾਇ ਤਿਸੁ ਨੇੜੈ ਗੁਰਸਿਖੁ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥ ji tthagee aavai tthagee utth jaae tis nerrai gurasikh mool na aavai | One who comes to deceive, who rises up and goes out to deceive - the GurSikhs shall never come near him. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਆਖਿ ਸੁਣਾਵੈ ॥ ਜਿ ਵਿਣੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਮਨੁ ਮੰਨੇ ਕੰਮੁ ਕਰਾਏ ਸੋ ਜੰਤੁ ਮਹਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੨॥ braham beechaar naanak aakh sunaavai | ji vin satigur ke man mane kam karaae so jant mahaa dukh paavai |2| Nanak proclaims and announces this wisdom of God. One who is not pleasing to the Mind of the True Guru may do his deeds, but that being will only suffer in terrible pain. ||2|| - Guru Ramdas Ji

ਤੂੰ ਸਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਅਤਿ ਵਡਾ ਤੁਹਿ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਤੂੰ ਵਡ ਵਡੇ ॥ toon sachaa saahib at vaddaa tuhi jevadd toon vadd vadde | O True Lord and Master, You are so very great. As great as You are, You are the greatest of the great. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜਿਸੁ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਲਹਿ ਸੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਤੂੰ ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸਿ ਲੈਹਿ ਲੇਖਾ ਛਡੇ ॥ jis toon meleh so tudh milai toon aape bakhas laihi lekhaa chhadde | He alone is united with You, whom You unite with Yourself. You Yourself bless and forgive us, and tear up our accounts. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਦਾ ਸੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵੇ ਮਨੁ ਗਡ ਗਡੇ ॥ jis no toon aap milaaeidaa so satigur seve man gadd gadde | One whom You unite with Yourself, whole-heartedly serves the True Guru. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਤੂੰ ਸਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਚੁ ਤੂ ਸਭੁ ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਚੰਮੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਹਡੇ ॥ toon sachaa saahib sach too sabh jeeo pindd cham teraa hadde | You are the True One, the True Lord and Master; my soul, body, flesh and bones are all Yours. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਰਖੁ ਤੂੰ ਸਚਿਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨਿ ਆਸ ਤੇਰੀ ਵਡ ਵਡੇ ॥੩੩॥੧॥ ਸੁਧੁ ॥ jiau bhaavai tiau rakh toon sachiaa naanak man aas teree vadd vadde |33|1| sudh | If it pleases You, then save me, True Lord. Nanak places the hopes of his mind in You alone, O greatest of the great! ||33||1|| Sudh|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
