ਪਉੜੀ ॥ paurree | Pauree: - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਤੂ ਕਰਤਾ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਜੋ ਜੀਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਵਰਤੈ ॥ too karataa sabh kichh jaanadaa jo jeea andar varatai | You, O Creator, know everything which occurs within our beings. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਤੂ ਕਰਤਾ ਆਪਿ ਅਗਣਤੁ ਹੈ ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਵਿਚਿ ਗਣਤੈ ॥ too karataa aap aganat hai sabh jag vich ganatai | You Yourself, O Creator, are incalculable, while the entire world is within the realm of calculation. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਸਭੁ ਕੀਤਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਸਭ ਤੇਰੀ ਬਣਤੈ ॥ sabh keetaa teraa varatadaa sabh teree banatai | Everything happens according to Your Will; You created all. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਤੂ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਇਕੁ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਸਚੁ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਚਲਤੈ ॥ too ghatt ghatt ik varatadaa sach saahib chalatai | You are the One, pervading in each and every heart; O True Lord and Master, this is Your play. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਨੋ ਮਿਲੇ ਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਿਸੈ ਪਰਤੈ ॥੨੪॥ satigur no mile su har mile naahee kisai paratai |24| One who meets the True Guru meets the Lord; no one can turn him away. ||24|| - Guru Ramdas Ji

ਇਹੁ ਮਨੂਆ ਦ੍ਰਿੜੁ ਕਰਿ ਰਖੀਐ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਲਾਈਐ ਚਿਤੁ ॥ eihu manooaa drirr kar rakheeai guramukh laaeeai chit | Hold this mind steady and stable; become Gurmukh and focus your consciousness. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਕਿਉ ਸਾਸਿ ਗਿਰਾਸਿ ਵਿਸਾਰੀਐ ਬਹਦਿਆ ਉਠਦਿਆ ਨਿਤ ॥ kiau saas giraas visaareeai bahadiaa utthadiaa nit | How could you ever forget Him, with each breath and morsel of food, sitting down or standing up? - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਮਰਣ ਜੀਵਣ ਕੀ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਗਈ ਇਹੁ ਜੀਅੜਾ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਵਸਿ ॥ maran jeevan kee chintaa gee ihu jeearraa har prabh vas | My anxiety about birth and death has ended; this soul is under the control of the Lord God. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਰਖੁ ਤੂ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਬਖਸਿ ॥੧॥ jiau bhaavai tiau rakh too jan naanak naam bakhas |1| If it pleases You, then save servant Nanak, and bless him with Your Name. ||1|| - Guru Ramdas Ji

ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀ ਮਹਲੁ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ਖਿਨੁ ਆਗੈ ਖਿਨੁ ਪੀਛੈ ॥ manamukh ahankaaree mehal na jaanai khin aagai khin peechhai | The egotistical, self-willed manmukh does not know the Mansion of the Lord’s Presence; one moment he is here, and the next moment he is there. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਦਾ ਬੁਲਾਈਐ ਮਹਲਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਕਿਉ ਕਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਸੀਝੈ ॥ sadaa bulaaeeai mehal na aavai kiau kar daragah seejhai | He is always invited, but he does not go to the Mansion of the Lord’s Presence. How shall he be accepted in the Court of the Lord? - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਮਹਲੁ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਜਾਣੈ ਸਦਾ ਰਹੈ ਕਰ ਜੋੜਿ ॥ satigur kaa mehal viralaa jaanai sadaa rahai kar jorr | How rare are those who know the Mansion of the True Guru; they stand with their palms pressed together. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਆਪਣੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਲਏ ਬਹੋੜਿ ॥੨॥ aapanee kripaa kare har meraa naanak le bahorr |2| If my Lord grants His Grace, O Nanak, He restores them to Himself. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਸਾ ਸੇਵਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਸਫਲ ਹੈ ਜਿਤੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਮਨੁ ਮੰਨੇ ॥ saa sevaa keetee safal hai jit satigur kaa man mane | Fruitful and rewarding is that service, which is pleasing to the Guru’s Mind. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਮਨੁ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਤਾ ਪਾਪ ਕਸੰਮਲ ਭੰਨੇ ॥ jaa satigur kaa man maniaa taa paap kasamal bhane | When the Mind of the True Guru is pleased, then sins and misdeeds run away. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਜਿ ਦਿਤਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਸੋ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਸਿਖੀ ਕੰਨੇ ॥ aupades ji ditaa satiguroo so suniaa sikhee kane | The Sikhs listen to the Teachings imparted by the True Guru. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜਿਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਚੜੀ ਚਵਗਣਿ ਵੰਨੇ ॥ jin satigur kaa bhaanaa maniaa tin charree chavagan vane | Those who surrender to the True Guru’s Will are imbued with the four-fold Love of the Lord. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਇਹ ਚਾਲ ਨਿਰਾਲੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖੀ ਗੁਰ ਦੀਖਿਆ ਸੁਣਿ ਮਨੁ ਭਿੰਨੇ ॥੨੫॥ eih chaal niraalee guramukhee gur deekhiaa sun man bhine |25| This is the unique and distinct life-style of the Gurmukhs: listening to the Guru’s Teachings, their minds blossom forth. ||25|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਸਲੋਕੁ ਮਃ ੩ ॥ salok mahalaa 3 | Salok, Third Mehl: - Guru Amardas Ji
ਜਿਨਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਗੋਪਿਆ ਆਪਣਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਠਉਰ ਨ ਠਾਉ ॥ jin gur gopiaa aapanaa tis tthaur na tthaau | Those who do not affirm their Guru shall have no home or place of rest. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹਲਤੁ ਪਲਤੁ ਦੋਵੈ ਗਏ ਦਰਗਹ ਨਾਹੀ ਥਾਉ ॥ halat palat dovai ge daragah naahee thaau | They lose both this world and the next; they have no place in the Court of the Lord. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਓਹ ਵੇਲਾ ਹਥਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਫਿਰਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਲਗਹਿ ਪਾਇ ॥ oeh velaa hath na aavee fir satigur lageh paae | This opportunity to bow at the Feet of the True Guru shall never come again. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਗਣਤੈ ਘੁਸੀਐ ਦੁਖੇ ਦੁਖਿ ਵਿਹਾਇ ॥ satigur kee ganatai ghuseeai dukhe dukh vihaae | If they miss out on being counted by the True Guru, they shall pass their lives in pain and misery. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਿਰਵੈਰੁ ਹੈ ਆਪੇ ਲਏ ਜਿਸੁ ਲਾਇ ॥ satigur purakh niravair hai aape le jis laae | The True Guru, the Primal Being, has no hatred or vengeance; He unites with Himself those with whom He is pleased. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਜਿਨਾ ਵੇਖਾਲਿਓਨੁ ਤਿਨਾ ਦਰਗਹ ਲਏ ਛਡਾਇ ॥੧॥ naanak darasan jinaa vekhaalion tinaa daragah le chhaddaae |1| O Nanak, those who behold the Blessed Vision of His Darshan, are emancipated in the Court of the Lord. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਅਗਿਆਨੁ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀ ॥ manamukh agiaan duramat ahankaaree | The self-willed manmukh is ignorant, evil-minded and egotistical. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਜੂਐ ਮਤਿ ਹਾਰੀ ॥ antar krodh jooai mat haaree | He is filled with anger within, and he loses his mind in the gamble. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਕੂੜੁ ਕੁਸਤੁ ਓਹੁ ਪਾਪ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥ koorr kusat ohu paap kamaavai | He commits the sins of fraud and unrighteousness. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਕਿਆ ਓਹੁ ਸੁਣੈ ਕਿਆ ਆਖਿ ਸੁਣਾਵੈ ॥ kiaa ohu sunai kiaa aakh sunaavai | What can he hear, and what can he tell others? - Guru Amardas Ji
ਅੰਨਾ ਬੋਲਾ ਖੁਇ ਉਝੜਿ ਪਾਇ ॥ anaa bolaa khue ujharr paae | He is blind and deaf; he loses his way, and wanders lost in the wilderness. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਅੰਧਾ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਇ ॥ manamukh andhaa aavai jaae | The blind, self-willed manmukh comes and goes in reincarnation; - Guru Amardas Ji
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭੇਟੇ ਥਾਇ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥ bin satigur bhette thaae na paae | without meeting the True Guru, he finds no place of rest. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਪੂਰਬਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਕਮਾਇ ॥੨॥ naanak poorab likhiaa kamaae |2| O Nanak, he acts according to his pre-ordained destiny. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਜਿਨ ਕੇ ਚਿਤ ਕਠੋਰ ਹਹਿ ਸੇ ਬਹਹਿ ਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪਾਸਿ ॥ jin ke chit katthor heh se baheh na satigur paas | Those who have hearts as hard as stone, do not sit near the True Guru. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਓਥੈ ਸਚੁ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਕੂੜਿਆਰਾ ਚਿਤ ਉਦਾਸਿ ॥ othai sach varatadaa koorriaaraa chit udaas | Truth prevails there; the false ones do not attune their consciousness to it. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਓਇ ਵਲੁ ਛਲੁ ਕਰਿ ਝਤਿ ਕਢਦੇ ਫਿਰਿ ਜਾਇ ਬਹਹਿ ਕੂੜਿਆਰਾ ਪਾਸਿ ॥ oe val chhal kar jhat kadtade fir jaae baheh koorriaaraa paas | By hook or by crook, they pass their time, and then they go back to sit with the false ones again. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਵਿਚਿ ਸਚੇ ਕੂੜੁ ਨ ਗਡਈ ਮਨਿ ਵੇਖਹੁ ਕੋ ਨਿਰਜਾਸਿ ॥ vich sache koorr na gaddee man vekhahu ko nirajaas | Falsehood does not mix with the Truth; O people, check it out and see. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਕੂੜਿਆਰ ਕੂੜਿਆਰੀ ਜਾਇ ਰਲੇ ਸਚਿਆਰ ਸਿਖ ਬੈਠੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪਾਸਿ ॥੨੬॥ koorriaar koorriaaree jaae rale sachiaar sikh baitthe satigur paas |26| The false go and mingle with the false, while the truthful Sikhs sit by the side of the True Guru. ||26|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
