ਸਚੁ ਸਚਾ ਰਸੁ ਜਿਨੀ ਚਖਿਆ ਸੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਰਹੇ ਆਘਾਈ ॥ sach sachaa ras jinee chakhiaa se tripat rahe aaghaaee | Those who have tasted the true essence of the True Lord, remain satisfied and fulfilled. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਇਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਸੇਈ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਜਿਉ ਗੂੰਗੈ ਮਿਠਿਆਈ ਖਾਈ ॥ eihu har ras seee jaanade jiau goongai mitthiaaee khaaee | They know this essence of the Lord, but they say nothing, like the mute who tastes the sweet candy, and says nothing. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਮਨਿ ਵਜੀ ਵਾਧਾਈ ॥੧੮॥ gur poorai har prabh seviaa man vajee vaadhaaee |18| The Perfect Guru serves the Lord God; His vibration vibrates and resounds in the mind. ||18|| - Guru Ramdas Ji

ਜਿਨਾ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਉਮਰਥਲ ਸੇਈ ਜਾਣਨਿ ਸੂਲੀਆ ॥ jinaa andar umarathal seee jaanan sooleea | Those who have a festering boil within - they alone know its pain. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਜਾਣਹਿ ਸੇਈ ਬਿਰਹੁ ਹਉ ਤਿਨ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਸਦ ਘੁਮਿ ਘੋਲੀਆ ॥ har jaaneh seee birahu hau tin vittahu sad ghum gholeea | Those who know the pain of separation from the Lord - I am forever a sacrifice, a sacrifice to them. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਮੇਲਹੁ ਸਜਣੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਿਰੁ ਤਿਨ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਤਲ ਰੋਲੀਆ ॥ har melahu sajan purakh meraa sir tin vittahu tal roleea | O Lord, please lead me to meet the Guru, the Primal Being, my Friend; my head shall roll in the dust under His feet. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜੋ ਸਿਖ ਗੁਰ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਵਹਿ ਹਉ ਗੁਲਮੁ ਤਿਨਾ ਕਾ ਗੋਲੀਆ ॥ jo sikh gur kaar kamaaveh hau gulam tinaa kaa goleea | I am the slave of the slaves of those GurSikhs who serve Him. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਚਲੂਲੈ ਜੋ ਰਤੇ ਤਿਨ ਭਿਨੀ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਚੋਲੀਆ ॥ har rang chaloolai jo rate tin bhinee har rang choleea | Those who are imbued with the deep crimson color of the Lord’s Love - their robes are drenched in the Love of the Lord. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਮੇਲਿ ਗੁਰ ਪਹਿ ਸਿਰੁ ਵੇਚਿਆ ਮੋਲੀਆ ॥੧॥ kar kirapaa naanak mel gur peh sir vechiaa moleea |1| Grant Your Grace, and lead Nanak to meet the Guru; I have sold my head to Him. ||1|| - Guru Ramdas Ji

ਅਉਗਣੀ ਭਰਿਆ ਸਰੀਰੁ ਹੈ ਕਿਉ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਇ ॥ aauganee bhariaa sareer hai kiau santahu niramal hoe | The body is full of mistakes and misdeeds; how can it become pure, O Saints? - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਗੁਣ ਵੇਹਾਝੀਅਹਿ ਮਲੁ ਹਉਮੈ ਕਢੈ ਧੋਇ ॥ guramukh gun vehaajheeeh mal haumai kadtai dhoe | The Gurmukh purchases virtues, which wash off the sin of egotism. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਸਚੁ ਵਣੰਜਹਿ ਰੰਗ ਸਿਉ ਸਚੁ ਸਉਦਾ ਹੋਇ ॥ sach vananjeh rang siau sach saudaa hoe | True is the trade which purchases the True Lord with love. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਤੋਟਾ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਲਾਹਾ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥ tottaa mool na aavee laahaa har bhaavai soe | No loss will come from this, and the profit comes by the Lord’s Will. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ ਸਚੁ ਵਣੰਜਿਆ ਜਿਨਾ ਧੁਰਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥ naanak tin sach vananjiaa jinaa dhur likhiaa paraapat hoe |2| O Nanak, they alone purchase the Truth, who are blessed with such pre-ordained destiny. ||2|| - Guru Ramdas Ji

ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਸਚੁ ਸਾਲਾਹਣਾ ਸਚੁ ਸਚਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਿਰਾਲੇ ॥ saalaahee sach saalaahanaa sach sachaa purakh niraale | I praise the True One, who alone is worthy of praise. The True Primal Being is True - this is His unique quality. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਸਚੁ ਸੇਵੀ ਸਚੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਸਚੁ ਸਚਾ ਹਰਿ ਰਖਵਾਲੇ ॥ sach sevee sach man vasai sach sachaa har rakhavaale | Serving the True Lord, the Truth comes to dwell in the mind. The Lord, the Truest of the True, is my Protector. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਸਚੁ ਸਚਾ ਜਿਨੀ ਅਰਾਧਿਆ ਸੇ ਜਾਇ ਰਲੇ ਸਚ ਨਾਲੇ ॥ sach sachaa jinee araadhiaa se jaae rale sach naale | Those who worship and adore the Truest of the True, shall go and merge with the True Lord. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਸਚੁ ਸਚਾ ਜਿਨੀ ਨ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਸੇ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮੂੜ ਬੇਤਾਲੇ ॥ sach sachaa jinee na seviaa se manamukh moorr betaale | Those who do not serve the Truest of the True - those self-willed manmukhs are foolish demons. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਓਹ ਆਲੁ ਪਤਾਲੁ ਮੁਹਹੁ ਬੋਲਦੇ ਜਿਉ ਪੀਤੈ ਮਦਿ ਮਤਵਾਲੇ ॥੧੯॥ oeh aal pataal muhahu bolade jiau peetai mad matavaale |19| With their mouths, they babble on about this and that, like the drunkard who has drunk his wine. ||19|| - Guru Ramdas Ji

ਗਉੜੀ ਰਾਗਿ ਸੁਲਖਣੀ ਜੇ ਖਸਮੈ ਚਿਤਿ ਕਰੇਇ ॥ gaurree raag sulakhanee je khasamai chit karee | Gauree Raga is auspicious, if, through it, one comes to think of his Lord and Master. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਭਾਣੈ ਚਲੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਕੈ ਐਸਾ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ਕਰੇਇ ॥ bhaanai chalai satiguroo kai aisaa seegaar karee | He should walk in harmony with the Will of the True Guru; this should be his decoration. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਚਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਭਤਾਰੁ ਹੈ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਰਾਵੇਇ ॥ sachaa sabad bhataar hai sadaa sadaa raavee | The True Word of the Shabad is our spouse; ravish and enjoy it, forever and ever. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਜਿਉ ਉਬਲੀ ਮਜੀਠੈ ਰੰਗੁ ਗਹਗਹਾ ਤਿਉ ਸਚੇ ਨੋ ਜੀਉ ਦੇਇ ॥ jiau ubalee majeetthai rang gahagahaa tiau sache no jeeo dee | Like the deep crimson color of the madder plant - such is the dye which shall color you, when you dedicate your soul to the True One. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਰੰਗਿ ਚਲੂਲੈ ਅਤਿ ਰਤੀ ਸਚੇ ਸਿਉ ਲਗਾ ਨੇਹੁ ॥ rang chaloolai at ratee sache siau lagaa nehu | One who loves the True Lord is totally imbued with the Lord’s Love, like the deep crimson color of the poppy. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਕੂੜੁ ਠਗੀ ਗੁਝੀ ਨਾ ਰਹੈ ਕੂੜੁ ਮੁਲੰਮਾ ਪਲੇਟਿ ਧਰੇਹੁ ॥ koorr tthagee gujhee naa rahai koorr mulamaa palett dharehu | Falsehood and deception may be covered with false coatings, but they cannot remain hidden. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਕੂੜੀ ਕਰਨਿ ਵਡਾਈਆ ਕੂੜੇ ਸਿਉ ਲਗਾ ਨੇਹੁ ॥ koorree karan vaddaaeea koorre siau lagaa nehu | False is the uttering of praises, by those who love falsehood. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚਾ ਆਪਿ ਹੈ ਆਪੇ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇਇ ॥੧॥ naanak sachaa aap hai aape nadar karee |1| O Nanak, He alone is True; He Himself casts His Glance of Grace. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਹੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਮਿਲੇ ਪਿਆਰਿਆ ॥ satasangat meh har usatat hai sang saadhoo mile piaariaa | In the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation, the Lord’s Praises are sung. In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, the Beloved Lord is met. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਓਇ ਪੁਰਖ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਧੰਨਿ ਜਨ ਹਹਿ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰਿਆ ॥ oe purakh praanee dhan jan heh upades kareh praupakaariaa | Blessed is that mortal being, who shares the Teachings for the good of others. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਵਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੁਣਾਵਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੇ ਜਗੁ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਿਆ ॥ har naam drirraaveh har naam sunaaveh har naame jag nisataariaa | He implants the Name of the Lord, and he preaches the Name of the Lord; through the Name of the Lord, the world is saved. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਗੁਰ ਵੇਖਣ ਕਉ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਈ ਲੋਚੈ ਨਵ ਖੰਡ ਜਗਤਿ ਨਮਸਕਾਰਿਆ ॥ gur vekhan kau sabh koee lochai nav khandd jagat namasakaariaa | Everyone longs to see the Guru; the world, and the nine continents, bow down to Him. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪੇ ਆਪੁ ਰਖਿਆ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਵਿਚਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਆਪੇ ਤੁਧੁ ਸਵਾਰਿਆ ॥ tudh aape aap rakhiaa satigur vich gur aape tudh savaariaa | You Yourself have established the True Guru; You Yourself have adorned the Guru. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਤੂ ਆਪੇ ਪੂਜਹਿ ਪੂਜ ਕਰਾਵਹਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਉ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰਿਆ ॥ too aape poojeh pooj karaaveh satigur kau sirajanahaariaa | You Yourself worship and adore the True Guru; You inspire others to worship Him as well, O Creator Lord. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਕੋਈ ਵਿਛੁੜਿ ਜਾਇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸਹੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਕਾਲਾ ਮੁਹੁ ਜਮਿ ਮਾਰਿਆ ॥ koee vichhurr jaae satiguroo paasahu tis kaalaa muhu jam maariaa | If someone separates himself from the True Guru, his face is blackened, and he is destroyed by the Messenger of Death. - Guru Ramdas Ji
