ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਮਾਤਾ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਪਿਤਾ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰਾ ॥ guradev maataa guradev pitaa guradev suaamee paramesuraa | The Divine Guru is our mother, the Divine Guru is our father; the Divine Guru is our Lord and Master, the Transcendent Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਸਖਾ ਅਗਿਆਨ ਭੰਜਨੁ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਬੰਧਿਪ ਸਹੋਦਰਾ ॥ guradev sakhaa agiaan bhanjan guradev bandhip sahodaraa | The Divine Guru is my companion, the Destroyer of ignorance; the Divine Guru is my relative and brother. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਦਾਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਉਪਦੇਸੈ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਮੰਤੁ ਨਿਰੋਧਰਾ ॥ guradev daataa har naam upadesai guradev mant nirodharaa | The Divine Guru is the Giver, the Teacher of the Lord’s Name. The Divine Guru is the Mantra which never fails. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਬੁਧਿ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਪਾਰਸ ਪਰਸ ਪਰਾ ॥ guradev saant sat budh moorat guradev paaras paras paraa | The Divine Guru is the image of peace, truth and wisdom. The Divine Guru is the Philosopher’s Stone - touching it, one is transformed. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਤੀਰਥੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਸਰੋਵਰੁ ਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨ ਮਜਨੁ ਅਪਰੰਪਰਾ ॥ guradev teerath amrit sarovar gur giaan majan aparanparaa | The Divine Guru is the sacred shrine of pilgrimage, and the pool of divine nectar; bathing in the Guru’s wisdom, one experiences the Infinite. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਕਰਤਾ ਸਭਿ ਪਾਪ ਹਰਤਾ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਪਤਿਤ ਪਵਿਤ ਕਰਾ ॥ guradev karataa sabh paap harataa guradev patit pavit karaa | The Divine Guru is the Creator, and the Destroyer of all sins; the Divine Guru is the Purifier of sinners. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਆਦਿ ਜੁਗਾਦਿ ਜੁਗੁ ਜੁਗੁ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਮੰਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਉਧਰਾ ॥ guradev aad jugaad jug jug guradev mant har jap udharaa | The Divine Guru existed in the very beginning, throughout the ages, in each and every age. The Divine Guru is the Mantra of the Lord’s Name; chanting it, one is saved. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੇਲਿ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਹਮ ਮੂੜ ਪਾਪੀ ਜਿਤੁ ਲਗਿ ਤਰਾ ॥ guradev sangat prabh mel kar kirapaa ham moorr paapee jit lag taraa | O God, please be merciful to me, that I may be with the Divine Guru; I am a foolish sinner, but holding onto Him, I will be carried across. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਆਦਿ ਗੁਰਏ ਨਮਹ ॥ aad gure namah | I bow to the Primal Guru. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜੁਗਾਦਿ ਗੁਰਏ ਨਮਹ ॥ jugaad gure namah | I bow to the Guru of the ages. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਏ ਨਮਹ ॥ satigure namah | I bow to the True Guru. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਸਿਮਰਉ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਉ ॥ simrau simar simar sukh paavau | Meditate, meditate, meditate in remembrance of Him, and find peace. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਲਿ ਕਲੇਸ ਤਨ ਮਾਹਿ ਮਿਟਾਵਉ ॥ kal kales tan maeh mittaavau | Worry and anguish shall be dispelled from your body. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਿਮਰਉ ਜਾਸੁ ਬਿਸੁੰਭਰ ਏਕੈ ॥ simrau jaas bisunbhar ekai | Remember in praise the One who pervades the whole Universe. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਅਗਨਤ ਅਨੇਕੈ ॥ naam japat aganat anekai | His Name is chanted by countless people, in so many ways. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਨ ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਸੁਧਾਖੵਰ ॥ bed puraan sinmrit sudhaakhayar | The Vedas, the Puraanas and the Simritees, the purest of utterances, - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕੀਨੇ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਇਕ ਆਖੵਰ ॥ keene raam naam ik aakhayar | were created from the One Word of the Name of the Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਿਨਕਾ ਏਕ ਜਿਸੁ ਜੀਅ ਬਸਾਵੈ ॥ kinakaa ek jis jeea basaavai | That one, in whose soul the One Lord dwells - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤਾ ਕੀ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਗਨੀ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥ taa kee mahimaa ganee na aavai | the praises of his glory cannot be recounted. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਾਂਖੀ ਏਕੈ ਦਰਸ ਤੁਹਾਰੋ ॥ kaankhee ekai daras tuhaaro | Those who yearn only for the blessing of Your Darshan - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਉਨ ਸੰਗਿ ਮੋਹਿ ਉਧਾਰੋ ॥੧॥ naanak un sang mohi udhaaro |1|

ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਬਿਸ੍ਰਾਮ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ bhagat janaa kai man bisraam | rahaau | The minds of the devotees abide in a joyful peace. ||Pause|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਗਰਭਿ ਨ ਬਸੈ ॥ prabh kai simaran garabh na basai | Remembering God, one does not have to enter into the womb again. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਦੂਖੁ ਜਮੁ ਨਸੈ ॥ prabh kai simaran dookh jam nasai | Remembering God, the pain of death is dispelled. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਕਾਲੁ ਪਰਹਰੈ ॥ prabh kai simaran kaal paraharai | Remembering God, death is eliminated. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਦੁਸਮਨੁ ਟਰੈ ॥ prabh kai simaran dusaman ttarai | Remembering God, one’s enemies are repelled. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਕਛੁ ਬਿਘਨੁ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ॥ prabh simarat kachh bighan na laagai | Remembering God, no obstacles are met. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਜਾਗੈ ॥ prabh kai simaran anadin jaagai | Remembering God, one remains awake and aware, night and day. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਭਉ ਨ ਬਿਆਪੈ ॥ prabh kai simaran bhau na biaapai | Remembering God, one is not touched by fear. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਨ ਸੰਤਾਪੈ ॥ prabh kai simaran dukh na santaapai | Remembering God, one does not suffer sorrow. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾ ਸਿਮਰਨੁ ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ॥ prabh kaa simaran saadh kai sang | The meditative remembrance of God is in the Company of the Holy. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਰਬ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ॥੨॥ sarab nidhaan naanak har rang |2| All treasures, O Nanak, are in the Love of the Lord. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਰਿਧਿ ਸਿਧਿ ਨਉ ਨਿਧਿ ॥ prabh kai simaran ridh sidh nau nidh | In the remembrance of God are wealth, miraculous spiritual powers and the nine treasures. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਧਿਆਨੁ ਤਤੁ ਬੁਧਿ ॥ prabh kai simaran giaan dhiaan tat budh | In the remembrance of God are knowledge, meditation and the essence of wisdom. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਜਪ ਤਪ ਪੂਜਾ ॥ prabh kai simaran jap tap poojaa | In the remembrance of God are chanting, intense meditation and devotional worship. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਦੂਜਾ ॥ prabh kai simaran binasai doojaa | In the remembrance of God, duality is removed. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਤੀਰਥ ਇਸਨਾਨੀ ॥ prabh kai simaran teerath isanaanee | In the remembrance of God are purifying baths at sacred shrines of pilgrimage. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਮਾਨੀ ॥ prabh kai simaran daragah maanee | In the remembrance of God, one attains honor in the Court of the Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਹੋਇ ਸੁ ਭਲਾ ॥ prabh kai simaran hoe su bhalaa | In the remembrance of God, one becomes good. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਸੁਫਲ ਫਲਾ ॥ prabh kai simaran sufal falaa | In the remembrance of God, one flowers in fruition. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੇ ਸਿਮਰਹਿ ਜਿਨ ਆਪਿ ਸਿਮਰਾਏ ॥ se simareh jin aap simaraae | They alone remember Him in meditation, whom He inspires to meditate. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
