ਭਗਤਿ ਵਛਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਪੂਰਨ ਮਨਹਿ ਚਿੰਦਿਆ ਪਾਈਐ ॥ bhagat vachhal purakh pooran maneh chindiaa paaeeai | The Perfect Lord is the Lover of His devotees; He fulfills the desires of the mind. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤਮ ਅੰਧ ਕੂਪ ਤੇ ਉਧਾਰੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਈਐ ॥ tam andh koop te udhaarai naam man vasaaeeai | He lifts us up out of the deep, dark pit; enshrine His Name within your mind. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੁਰ ਸਿਧ ਗਣ ਗੰਧਰਬ ਮੁਨਿ ਜਨ ਗੁਣ ਅਨਿਕ ਭਗਤੀ ਗਾਇਆ ॥ sur sidh gan gandharab mun jan gun anik bhagatee gaaeaa | The gods, the Siddhas, the angels, the heavenly singers, the silent sages and the devotees sing Your countless Glorious Praises. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਰਹੁ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇਆ ॥੨॥ binavant naanak karahu kirapaa paarabraham har raaeaa |2| Prays Nanak, please be merciful to me, O Supreme Lord God, my King. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਚੇਤਿ ਮਨਾ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਸਰਬ ਕਲਾ ਜਿਨਿ ਧਾਰੀ ॥ chet manaa paarabraham paramesar sarab kalaa jin dhaaree | O my mind, be conscious of the Supreme Lord God, the Transcendent Lord, who wields all power. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਰੁਣਾ ਮੈ ਸਮਰਥੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਘਟ ਘਟ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਅਧਾਰੀ ॥ karunaa mai samarath suaamee ghatt ghatt praan adhaaree | He is All-powerful, the Embodiment of compassion. He is the Master of each and every heart; - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਮਨ ਤਨ ਜੀਅ ਦਾਤਾ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰੋ ॥ praan man tan jeea daataa beant agam apaaro | He is the Support of the breath of life. He is the Giver of the breath of life, of mind, body and soul. He is Infinite, Inaccessible and Unfathomable. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਰਣਿ ਜੋਗੁ ਸਮਰਥੁ ਮੋਹਨੁ ਸਰਬ ਦੋਖ ਬਿਦਾਰੋ ॥ saran jog samarath mohan sarab dokh bidaaro | The All-powerful Lord is our Sanctuary; He is the Enticer of the mind, who banishes all sorrows. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਰੋਗ ਸੋਗ ਸਭਿ ਦੋਖ ਬਿਨਸਹਿ ਜਪਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੁਰਾਰੀ ॥ rog sog sabh dokh binaseh japat naam muraaree | All illnesses, sufferings and pains are dispelled, by chanting the Name of the Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਗੁਣ ਗਾਉ ਮਨਾ ਅਚੁਤ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਸਭ ਤੇ ਊਚ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥ gun gaau manaa achut abinaasee sabh te aooch deaalaa | O my mind, sing the Glorious Praises of the Imperishable, Eternal, Merciful Master, the Highest of all. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬਿਸੰਭਰੁ ਦੇਵਨ ਕਉ ਏਕੈ ਸਰਬ ਕਰੈ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਾ ॥ bisanbhar devan kau ekai sarab karai pratipaalaa | The One Lord is the Sustainer of the Universe, the Great Giver; He is the Cherisher of all. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲ ਮਹਾ ਦਇਆਲ ਦਾਨਾ ਦਇਆ ਧਾਰੇ ਸਭ ਕਿਸੈ ॥ pratipaal mahaa deaal daanaa deaa dhaare sabh kisai | The Cherisher Lord is so very merciful and wise; He is compassionate to all. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਾਲੁ ਕੰਟਕੁ ਲੋਭੁ ਮੋਹੁ ਨਾਸੈ ਜੀਅ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਬਸੈ ॥ kaal kanttak lobh mohu naasai jeea jaa kai prabh basai | The pains of death, greed and emotional attachment simply vanish, when God comes to dwell in the soul. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੁਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਦੇਵਾ ਸਫਲ ਸੇਵਾ ਭਈ ਪੂਰਨ ਘਾਲਾ ॥ suprasan devaa safal sevaa bhee pooran ghaalaa | When the Lord is thoroughly pleased, then one’s service becomes perfectly fruitful. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬਿਨਵੰਤ ਨਾਨਕ ਇਛ ਪੁਨੀ ਜਪਤ ਦੀਨ ਦੈਆਲਾ ॥੪॥੩॥ binavant naanak ichh punee japat deen daiaalaa |4|3| Prays Nanak, my desires are fulfilled by meditating on the Lord, Merciful to the meek. ||4||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਸੁਣਿ ਸਖੀਏ ਮਿਲਿ ਉਦਮੁ ਕਰੇਹਾ ਮਨਾਇ ਲੈਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੰਤੈ ॥ sun sakhee mil udam karehaa manaae laihi har kantai | Listen, O my companions: let’s join together and make the effort, to surrender to our Husband Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਮਾਨੁ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਕਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਠਗਉਰੀ ਮੋਹਹ ਸਾਧੂ ਮੰਤੈ ॥ maan tiaag kar bhagat tthgauree mohah saadhoo mantai | Renouncing our pride, let’s charm Him with the potion of devotional worship, and the mantra of the Holy Saints. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਖੀ ਵਸਿ ਆਇਆ ਫਿਰਿ ਛੋਡਿ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਇਹ ਰੀਤਿ ਭਲੀ ਭਗਵੰਤੈ ॥ sakhee vas aaeaa fir chhodd na jaaee ih reet bhalee bhagavantai | O my companions, when He comes under our power, He shall never leave us again. This is the good nature of the Lord God. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਰਾ ਮਰਣ ਭੈ ਨਰਕ ਨਿਵਾਰੈ ਪੁਨੀਤ ਕਰੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਜੰਤੈ ॥੧॥ naanak jaraa maran bhai narak nivaarai puneet karai tis jantai |1| O Nanak, God dispels the fear of old age, death and hell; He purifies His beings. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੁਣਿ ਸਖੀਏ ਇਹ ਭਲੀ ਬਿਨੰਤੀ ਏਹੁ ਮਤਾਂਤੁ ਪਕਾਈਐ ॥ sun sakhee ih bhalee binantee ehu mataant pakaaeeai | Listen, O my companions, to my sincere prayer: let’s make this firm resolve. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ਉਪਾਧਿ ਰਹਤ ਹੋਇ ਗੀਤ ਗੋਵਿੰਦਹਿ ਗਾਈਐ ॥ sehaj subhaae upaadh rehat hoe geet govindeh gaaeeai | In the peaceful poise of intuitive bliss, violence will be gone, as we sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਲਿ ਕਲੇਸ ਮਿਟਹਿ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਨਾਸਹਿ ਮਨਿ ਚਿੰਦਿਆ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਈਐ ॥ kal kales mitteh bhram naaseh man chindiaa fal paaeeai | Our pains and troubles shall be eradicated, and our doubts shall be dispelled; we will receive the fruits of our minds’ desires. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪੂਰਨ ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥੨॥ paarabraham pooran paramesar naanak naam dhiaaeeai |2| O Nanak, meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Supreme Lord God, the Perfect, Transcendent Lord. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਖੀ ਇਛ ਕਰੀ ਨਿਤ ਸੁਖ ਮਨਾਈ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੇਰੀ ਆਸ ਪੁਜਾਏ ॥ sakhee ichh karee nit sukh manaaee prabh meree aas pujaae | O my companions, I yearn for Him continually; I invoke His Blessings, and pray that God may fulfill my hopes. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਚਰਨ ਪਿਆਸੀ ਦਰਸ ਬੈਰਾਗਨਿ ਪੇਖਉ ਥਾਨ ਸਬਾਏ ॥ charan piaasee daras bairaagan pekhau thaan sabaae | I thirst for His Feet, and I long for the Blessed Vision of His Darshan; I look for Him everywhere. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਖੋਜਿ ਲਹਉ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਸੰਗੁ ਸੰਮ੍ਰਿਥ ਪੁਰਖ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥ khoj lhau har sant janaa sang samrith purakh milaae | I search for traces of the Lord in the Society of the Saints; they will unite me with the All-powerful Primal Lord God. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਸੁਰਿਜਨੁ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਸੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਮਾਏ ॥੩॥ naanak tin miliaa surijan sukhadaataa se vaddabhaagee maae |3| O Nanak, those humble, noble beings who meet the Lord, the Giver of peace, are very blessed, O my mother. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਖੀ ਨਾਲਿ ਵਸਾ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਨਾਹ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਹਿਲਿਆ ॥ sakhee naal vasaa apune naah piaare meraa man tan har sang hiliaa | O my companions, now I dwell with my Beloved Husband; my mind and body are attuned to the Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੁਣਿ ਸਖੀਏ ਮੇਰੀ ਨੀਦ ਭਲੀ ਮੈ ਆਪਨੜਾ ਪਿਰੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ॥ sun sakhee meree need bhalee mai aapanarraa pir miliaa | Listen, O my companions: now I sleep well, since I found my Husband Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਖੋਇਓ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਪਰਗਾਸੁ ਭਇਆ ਕਉਲੁ ਖਿਲਿਆ ॥ bhram khoeo saant sehaj suaamee paragaas bheaa kaul khiliaa | My doubts have been dispelled, and I have found intuitive peace and tranquility through my Lord and Master. I have been enlightened, and my heart-lotus has blossomed forth. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਵਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋਹਾਗੁ ਨ ਟਲਿਆ ॥੪॥੪॥੨॥੫॥੧੧॥ var paaeaa prabh antarajaamee naanak sohaag na ttaliaa |4|4|2|5|11| I have obtained God, the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts, as my Husband; O Nanak, my marriage shall last forever. ||4||4||2||5||11|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
