ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਸਾਰੀ ਤਾ ਕੰਤ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਨਾਮੇ ਧਰੀ ਪਿਆਰੋ ॥ har gun saaree taa kant piaaree naame dharee piaaro | Dwell upon the Lord’s Glories, and you shall be loved by your Husband, embracing love for the Naam, the Name of the Lord. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਾਮਣਿ ਨਾਹ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਗਲਿ ਹਾਰੋ ॥੨॥ naanak kaaman naah piaaree raam naam gal haaro |2| O Nanak, the soul-bride who wears the necklace of the Lord’s Name around her neck is loved by her Husband Lord. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਧਨ ਏਕਲੜੀ ਜੀਉ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਹ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥ dhan ekalarree jeeo bin naah piaare | The soul-bride who is without her beloved Husband is all alone. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਮੁਠੀ ਜੀਉ ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰਸਬਦ ਕਰਾਰੇ ॥ doojai bhaae mutthee jeeo bin gurasabad karaare | She is cheated by the love of duality, without the Word of the Guru’s Shabad. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਬਦ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਕਉਣੁ ਦੁਤਰੁ ਤਾਰੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਖੁਆਈ ॥ bin sabad piaare kaun dutar taare maaeaa mohi khuaaee | Without the Shabad of her Beloved, how can she cross over the treacherous ocean? Attachment to Maya has led her astray. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਕੂੜਿ ਵਿਗੁਤੀ ਤਾ ਪਿਰਿ ਮੁਤੀ ਸਾ ਧਨ ਮਹਲੁ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥ koorr vigutee taa pir mutee saa dhan mehal na paaee | Ruined by falsehood, she is deserted by her Husband Lord. The soul-bride does not attain the Mansion of His Presence. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰਸਬਦੇ ਰਾਤੀ ਸਹਜੇ ਮਾਤੀ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਰਹੈ ਸਮਾਏ ॥ gurasabade raatee sahaje maatee anadin rahai samaae | But she who is attuned to the Guru’s Shabad is intoxicated with celestial love; night and day, she remains absorbed in Him. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਾਮਣਿ ਸਦਾ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੀ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥੩॥ naanak kaaman sadaa rang raatee har jeeo aap milaae |3| O Nanak, that soul-bride who remains constantly steeped in His Love, is blended by the Lord into Himself. ||3|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਤਾ ਮਿਲੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਲੇ ਜੀਉ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਕਵਣੁ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥ taa mileeai har mele jeeo har bin kavan milaae | If the Lord merges us with Himself, we are merged with Him. Without the Dear Lord, who can merge us with Him? - Guru Amardas Ji
ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਆਪਣੇ ਜੀਉ ਕਉਣੁ ਭਰਮੁ ਚੁਕਾਏ ॥ bin gur preetam aapane jeeo kaun bharam chukaae | Without our Beloved Guru, who can dispel our doubt? - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰੁ ਭਰਮੁ ਚੁਕਾਏ ਇਉ ਮਿਲੀਐ ਮਾਏ ਤਾ ਸਾ ਧਨ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ॥ gur bharam chukaae iau mileeai maae taa saa dhan sukh paae | Through the Guru, doubt is dispelled. O my mother, this is the way to meet Him; this is how the soul-bride finds peace. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਬਿਨੁ ਘੋਰ ਅੰਧਾਰੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਮਗੁ ਨ ਪਾਏ ॥ gur sevaa bin ghor andhaar bin gur mag na paae | Without serving the Guru, there is only pitch darkness. Without the Guru, the Way is not found. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਕਾਮਣਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੀ ਸਹਜੇ ਮਾਤੀ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੇ ॥ kaaman rang raatee sahaje maatee gur kai sabad veechaare | That wife who is intuitively imbued with the color of His Love, contemplates the Word of the Guru’s Shabad. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਾਮਣਿ ਹਰਿ ਵਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਭਾਇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥੪॥੧॥ naanak kaaman har var paaeaa gur kai bhaae piaare |4|1| O Nanak, the soul-bride obtains the Lord as her Husband, by enshrining love for the Beloved Guru. ||4||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਪਿਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਖਰੀ ਨਿਮਾਣੀ ਜੀਉ ਬਿਨੁ ਪਿਰ ਕਿਉ ਜੀਵਾ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਈ ॥ pir bin kharee nimaanee jeeo bin pir kiau jeevaa meree maaee | Without my Husband, I am utterly dishonored. Without my Husband Lord, how can I live, O my mother? - Guru Amardas Ji
ਪਿਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਨੀਦ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਜੀਉ ਕਾਪੜੁ ਤਨਿ ਨ ਸੁਹਾਈ ॥ pir bin need na aavai jeeo kaaparr tan na suhaaee | Without my Husband, sleep does not come, and my body is not adorned with my bridal dress. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਕਾਪਰੁ ਤਨਿ ਸੁਹਾਵੈ ਜਾ ਪਿਰ ਭਾਵੈ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਈਐ ॥ kaapar tan suhaavai jaa pir bhaavai guramatee chit laaeeai | The bridal dress looks beautiful upon my body, when I am pleasing to my Husband Lord. Following the Guru’s Teachings, my consciousness is focused on Him. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਦਾ ਸੁਹਾਗਣਿ ਜਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਅੰਕਿ ਸਮਾਈਐ ॥ sadaa suhaagan jaa satigur seve gur kai ank samaaeeai | I become His happy soul-bride forever, when I serve the True Guru; I sit in the Lap of the Guru. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰਸਬਦੈ ਮੇਲਾ ਤਾ ਪਿਰੁ ਰਾਵੀ ਲਾਹਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੇ ॥ gurasabadai melaa taa pir raavee laahaa naam sansaare | Through the Word of the Guru’s Shabad, the soul-bride meets her Husband Lord, who ravishes and enjoys her. The Naam, the Name of the Lord, is the only profit in this world. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਾਮਣਿ ਨਾਹ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਜਾ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਸਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ naanak kaaman naah piaaree jaa har ke gun saare |1| O Nanak, the soul-bride is loved by her Husband, when she dwells upon the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੀ ਜੀਉ ਗੁਰਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰੇ ॥ ahinis rang raatee jeeo gurasabad veechaare | Imbued with His Love night and day, she contemplates the Word of the Guru’s Shabad. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰੇ ਇਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਮਿਲਹੁ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥ gurasabad veechaare haumai maare in bidh milahu piaare | Contemplating the Guru’s Shabad, she conquers her ego, and in this way, she meets her Beloved. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਾ ਧਨ ਸੋਹਾਗਣਿ ਸਦਾ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੀ ਸਾਚੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥ saa dhan sohaagan sadaa rang raatee saachai naam piaare | She is the happy soul-bride of her Lord, who is forever imbued with the Love of the True Name of her Beloved. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਅਪੁਨੇ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਰਹੀਐ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਗਹੀਐ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਮਾਰਿ ਨਿਵਾਰੇ ॥ apune gur mil raheeai amrit gaheeai dubidhaa maar nivaare | Abiding in the Company of our Guru, we grasp the Ambrosial Nectar; we conquer and cast out our sense of duality. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਾਮਣਿ ਹਰਿ ਵਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਗਲੇ ਦੂਖ ਵਿਸਾਰੇ ॥੨॥ naanak kaaman har var paaeaa sagale dookh visaare |2| O Nanak, the soul-bride attains her Husband Lord, and forgets all her pains. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਕਾਮਣਿ ਪਿਰਹੁ ਭੁਲੀ ਜੀਉ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥ kaaman pirahu bhulee jeeo maaeaa mohi piaare | The soul-bride has forgotten her Husband Lord, because of love and emotional attachment to Maya. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਝੂਠੀ ਝੂਠਿ ਲਗੀ ਜੀਉ ਕੂੜਿ ਮੁਠੀ ਕੂੜਿਆਰੇ ॥ jhootthee jhootth lagee jeeo koorr mutthee koorriaare | The false bride is attached to falsehood; the insincere one is cheated by insincerity. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਕੂੜੁ ਨਿਵਾਰੇ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੂਐ ਜਨਮੁ ਨ ਹਾਰੇ ॥ koorr nivaare guramat saare jooai janam na haare | She who drives out her falsehood, and acts according to the Guru’s Teachings, does not lose her life in the gamble. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰਸਬਦੁ ਸੇਵੇ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰੇ ॥ gurasabad seve sach samaavai vichahu haumai maare | One who serves the Word of the Guru’s Shabad is absorbed in the True Lord; she eradicates egotism from within. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਵਸਾਏ ਐਸਾ ਕਰੇ ਸੀਗਾਰੋ ॥ har kaa naam ridai vasaae aisaa kare seegaaro | So let the Name of the Lord abide within your heart; decorate yourself in this way. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਾਮਣਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਣੀ ਜਿਸੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੋ ॥੩॥ naanak kaaman sehaj samaanee jis saachaa naam adhaaro |3| O Nanak, the soul-bride who takes the Support of the True Name is intuitively absorbed in the Lord. ||3|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਮਿਲੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮਾ ਜੀਉ ਤੁਧੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਖਰੀ ਨਿਮਾਣੀ ॥ mil mere preetamaa jeeo tudh bin kharee nimaanee | Meet me, O my Dear Beloved. Without You, I am totally dishonored. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਮੈ ਨੈਣੀ ਨੀਦ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਜੀਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਅੰਨੁ ਨ ਪਾਣੀ ॥ mai nainee need na aavai jeeo bhaavai an na paanee | Sleep does not come to my eyes, and I have no desire for food or water. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਪਾਣੀ ਅੰਨੁ ਨ ਭਾਵੈ ਮਰੀਐ ਹਾਵੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਪਿਰ ਕਿਉ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈਐ ॥ paanee an na bhaavai mareeai haavai bin pir kiau sukh paaeeai | I have no desire for food or water, and I am dying from the pain of separation. Without my Husband Lord, how can I find peace? - Guru Amardas Ji
