ਗਉੜੀ ਬੈਰਾਗਣਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ॥ gaurree bairaagan mahalaa 4 | Gauree Bairaagan, Fourth Mehl: - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜਿਉ ਜਨਨੀ ਸੁਤੁ ਜਣਿ ਪਾਲਤੀ ਰਾਖੈ ਨਦਰਿ ਮਝਾਰਿ ॥ jiau jananee sut jan paalatee raakhai nadar majhaar | Just as the mother, having given birth to a son, feeds him and keeps him in her vision - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਮੁਖਿ ਦੇ ਗਿਰਾਸੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਪੋਚਾਰਿ ॥ antar baahar mukh de giraas khin khin pochaar |
- indoors and outdoors, she puts food in his mouth; each and every moment, she caresses him. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਤਿਉ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਰਾਖਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥੧॥ tiau satigur gurasikh raakhataa har preet piaar |1| In just the same way, the True Guru protects His GurSikhs, who love their Beloved Lord. ||1|| - Guru Ramdas Ji

ਧੰਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਧਾ ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਦੇ ਕੀਏ ਸਿਆਣੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ dhan dhan guroo gur satigur paadhaa jin har upades de kee siaane |1| rahaau | Hail, hail, to the Guru, the Guru, the True Guru, the Divine Teacher who has made me wise through the Lord’s Teachings. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Ramdas Ji

ਓਹ ਰਾਖੈ ਚੀਤੁ ਪੀਛੈ ਬਿਚਿ ਬਚਰੇ ਨਿਤ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਸਾਰਿ ਸਮਾਲੀ ॥ oeh raakhai cheet peechhai bich bachare nit hiradai saar samaalee | but she keeps her young ones in her mind; she has left them behind, but she constantly remembers them in her heart. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਤਿਉ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਿਖ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਿਖ ਰਖੈ ਜੀਅ ਨਾਲੀ ॥੨॥ tiau satigur sikh preet har har kee gur sikh rakhai jeea naalee |2| In just the same way, the True Guru loves His Sikhs. The Lord cherishes His GurSikhs, and keeps them clasped to His Heart. ||2|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜੈਸੇ ਕਾਤੀ ਤੀਸ ਬਤੀਸ ਹੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਰਾਖੈ ਰਸਨਾ ਮਾਸ ਰਤੁ ਕੇਰੀ ॥ jaise kaatee tees batees hai vich raakhai rasanaa maas rat keree | Just as the tongue, made of flesh and blood, is protected within the scissors of the thirty-two teeth - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਕੋਈ ਜਾਣਹੁ ਮਾਸ ਕਾਤੀ ਕੈ ਕਿਛੁ ਹਾਥਿ ਹੈ ਸਭ ਵਸਗਤਿ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਕੇਰੀ ॥ koee jaanahu maas kaatee kai kichh haath hai sabh vasagat hai har keree | who thinks that the power lies in the flesh or the scissors? Everything is in the Power of the Lord. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਤਿਉ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ ਨਰ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖੈ ਪੈਜ ਜਨ ਕੇਰੀ ॥੩॥ tiau sant janaa kee nar nindaa kareh har raakhai paij jan keree |3| In just the same way, when someone slanders the Saint, the Lord preserves the honor of His servant. ||3|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਭਾਈ ਮਤ ਕੋਈ ਜਾਣਹੁ ਕਿਸੀ ਕੈ ਕਿਛੁ ਹਾਥਿ ਹੈ ਸਭ ਕਰੇ ਕਰਾਇਆ ॥ bhaaee mat koee jaanahu kisee kai kichh haath hai sabh kare karaaeaa | O Siblings of Destiny, let none think that they have any power. All act as the Lord causes them to act. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜਰਾ ਮਰਾ ਤਾਪੁ ਸਿਰਤਿ ਸਾਪੁ ਸਭੁ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਵਸਿ ਹੈ ਕੋਈ ਲਾਗਿ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਲਾਇਆ ॥ jaraa maraa taap sirat saap sabh har kai vas hai koee laag na sakai bin har kaa laaeaa | Old age, death, fever, poisons and snakes - everything is in the Hands of the Lord. Nothing can touch anyone without the Lord’s Order. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਐਸਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਨਿ ਚਿਤਿ ਨਿਤਿ ਧਿਆਵਹੁ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੋ ਅੰਤੀ ਅਉਸਰਿ ਲਏ ਛਡਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੭॥੧੩॥੫੧॥ aisaa har naam man chit nit dhiaavahu jan naanak jo antee aausar le chhaddaaeaa |4|7|13|51| Within your conscious mind, O servant Nanak, meditate forever on the Name of the Lord, who shall deliver you in the end. ||4||7||13||51|| - Guru Ramdas Ji

ਮਨ ਕੀ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਬਿਨਸਿ ਜਾਇ ਹਰਿ ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਲਹੀਐ ॥੧॥ man kee dubidhaa binas jaae har param pad laheeai |1| Double-mindedness departs, and the supreme status of the Lord is obtained. ||1|| - Guru Ramdas Ji

ਹਉ ਖਿਨੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਕਰੀ ਨਮਸਕਾਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਕਿਉ ਮਿਲੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ hau khin khin karee namasakaar meraa gur pooraa kiau milai |1| rahaau | Each and every moment, I humbly bow to Him. How will I meet my Perfect Guru? ||1||Pause|| - Guru Ramdas Ji

ਇਛ ਪੁੰਨੀ ਜਨ ਕੇਰੀਆ ਲੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਧੂਰਾ ॥੨॥ eichh punee jan kereea le satigur dhooraa |2| The desire of His humble servant has been fulfilled. I have received the dust of the Feet of the True Guru. ||2|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਸੁਣੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮਿਲੀਐ ॥ har bhagat drirraavai har bhagat sunai tis satigur mileeai | Those who meet the True Guru implant devotional worship to the Lord, and listen to this devotional worship of the Lord. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਤੋਟਾ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਹਰਿ ਲਾਭੁ ਨਿਤਿ ਦ੍ਰਿੜੀਐ ॥੩॥ tottaa mool na aavee har laabh nit drirreeai |3| They never suffer any loss; they continually earn the profit of the Lord. ||3|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜਿਸ ਕਉ ਰਿਦੈ ਵਿਗਾਸੁ ਹੈ ਭਾਉ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹੀ ॥ jis kau ridai vigaas hai bhaau doojaa naahee | One whose heart blossoms forth, is not in love with duality. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਉਧਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਾਹੀ ॥੪॥੮॥੧੪॥੫੨॥ naanak tis gur mil udharai har gun gaavaahee |4|8|14|52| O Nanak, meeting the Guru, one is saved, singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||4||8||14||52|| - Guru Ramdas Ji

ਹਰਿ ਦਇਆਲਿ ਦਇਆ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਕੀਨੀ ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਬੋਲੀ ॥ har deaal deaa prabh keenee merai man tan mukh har bolee | The Merciful Lord God showered me with His Mercy; with mind and body and mouth, I chant the Lord’s Name. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਭਇਆ ਅਤਿ ਗੂੜਾ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਭੀਨੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਚੋਲੀ ॥੧॥ guramukh rang bheaa at goorraa har rang bheenee meree cholee |1| As Gurmukh, I have been dyed in the deep and lasting color of the Lord’s Love. The robe of my body is drenched with His Love. ||1|| - Guru Ramdas Ji

ਜਬ ਹਮ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਤੀ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ਕਰਿ ਦੀਨੋ ਜਗਤੁ ਸਭੁ ਗੋਲ ਅਮੋਲੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ jab ham har setee man maaniaa kar deeno jagat sabh gol amolee |1| rahaau | When my mind surrendered to the Lord, He made all the world my slave. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਕਰਹੁ ਬਿਬੇਕੁ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਭਾਈ ਖੋਜਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਦੇਖਿ ਢੰਢੋਲੀ ॥ karahu bibek sant jan bhaaee khoj hiradai dekh dtandtolee | Consider this well, O Saints, O Siblings of Destiny - search your own hearts, seek and find Him there. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਰੂਪੁ ਸਭ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਬਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਵਸੈ ਹਰਿ ਕੋਲੀ ॥੨॥ har har roop sabh jot sabaaee har nikatt vasai har kolee |2| The Beauty and the Light of the Lord, Har, Har, is present in all. In all places, the Lord dwells near by, close at hand. ||2|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
