ਜਿਤਨੀ ਭੂਖ ਅਨ ਰਸ ਸਾਦ ਹੈ ਤਿਤਨੀ ਭੂਖ ਫਿਰਿ ਲਾਗੈ ॥ jitanee bhookh an ras saad hai titanee bhookh fir laagai | The more one feels hunger for other tastes and pleasures, the more this hunger persists. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜਿਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਸੋ ਵੇਚੇ ਸਿਰੁ ਗੁਰ ਆਗੈ ॥ jis har aap kripaa kare so veche sir gur aagai | Those unto whom the Lord Himself shows mercy, sell their head to the Guru. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਰਸਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿਆ ਫਿਰਿ ਭੂਖ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ॥੪॥੪॥੧੦॥੪੮॥ jan naanak har ras tripatiaa fir bhookh na laagai |4|4|10|48| Servant Nanak is satisfied by the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. He shall never feel hungry again. ||4||4||10||48|| - Guru Ramdas Ji

ਹਮਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਚਿਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਆਸ ਨਿਤ ਕਿਉ ਦੇਖਾ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸੁ ਤੁਮਾਰਾ ॥ hamarai man chit har aas nit kiau dekhaa har daras tumaaraa | Within my conscious mind is the constant longing for the Lord. How can I behold the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan, Lord? - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜਿਨਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਾਈ ਸੋ ਜਾਣਤਾ ਹਮਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਚਿਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ॥ jin preet laaee so jaanataa hamarai man chit har bahut piaaraa | One who loves the Lord knows this; the Lord is very dear to my conscious mind. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਉ ਕੁਰਬਾਨੀ ਗੁਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਜਿਨਿ ਵਿਛੁੜਿਆ ਮੇਲਿਆ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਿਰਜਨਹਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ hau kurabaanee gur aapane jin vichhurriaa meliaa meraa sirajanahaaraa |1| I am a sacrifice to my Guru, who has re-united me with my Creator Lord; I was separated from Him for such a long time! ||1|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਮੇਰੇ ਰਾਮ ਹਮ ਪਾਪੀ ਸਰਣਿ ਪਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਦੁਆਰਿ ॥ mere raam ham paapee saran pare har duaar | O my Lord, I am a sinner; I have come to Your Sanctuary, and fallen at Your Door, Lord. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਮਤੁ ਨਿਰਗੁਣ ਹਮ ਮੇਲੈ ਕਬਹੂੰ ਅਪੁਨੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ mat niragun ham melai kabahoon apunee kirapaa dhaar |1| rahaau | My intellect is worthless; I am filthy and polluted. Please shower me with Your Mercy sometime. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਮਰੇ ਅਵਗੁਣ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਹੈ ਬਹੁ ਬਾਰ ਬਾਰ ਹਰਿ ਗਣਤ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥ hamare avagun bahut bahut hai bahu baar baar har ganat na aavai | My demerits are so many and numerous. I have sinned so many times, over and over again. O Lord, they cannot be counted. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਤੂੰ ਗੁਣਵੰਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸਿ ਲੈਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਵੈ ॥ toon gunavantaa har har deaal har aape bakhas laihi har bhaavai | You, Lord, are the Merciful Treasure of Virtue. When it pleases You, Lord, You forgive me. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਮ ਅਪਰਾਧੀ ਰਾਖੇ ਗੁਰ ਸੰਗਤੀ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਦੀਓ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਛਡਾਵੈ ॥੨॥ ham aparaadhee raakhe gur sangatee upades deeo har naam chhaddaavai |2| I am a sinner, saved only by the Company of the Guru. He has bestowed the Teachings of the Lord’s Name, which saves me. ||2|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਤੁਮਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਕਿਆ ਕਹਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਾ ਜਬ ਗੁਰੁ ਬੋਲਹ ਤਬ ਬਿਸਮੁ ਹੋਇ ਜਾਇ ॥ tumare gun kiaa kahaa mere satiguraa jab gur bolah tab bisam hoe jaae | What Glorious Virtues of Yours can I describe, O my True Guru? When the Guru speaks, I am transfixed with wonder. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਮ ਜੈਸੇ ਅਪਰਾਧੀ ਅਵਰੁ ਕੋਈ ਰਾਖੈ ਜੈਸੇ ਹਮ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਰਾਖਿ ਲੀਏ ਛਡਾਇ ॥ ham jaise aparaadhee avar koee raakhai jaise ham satigur raakh lee chhaddaae | Can anyone else save a sinner like me? The True Guru has protected and saved me. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਤੂੰ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਿਤਾ ਤੂੰਹੈ ਗੁਰੁ ਮਾਤਾ ਤੂੰ ਗੁਰੁ ਬੰਧਪੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਖਾ ਸਖਾਇ ॥੩॥ toon gur pitaa toonhai gur maataa toon gur bandhap meraa sakhaa sakhaae |3| O Guru, You are my father. O Guru, You are my mother. O Guru, You are my relative, companion and friend. ||3|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜੋ ਹਮਰੀ ਬਿਧਿ ਹੋਤੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਾ ਸਾ ਬਿਧਿ ਤੁਮ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਣਹੁ ਆਪੇ ॥ jo hamaree bidh hotee mere satiguraa saa bidh tum har jaanahu aape | My condition, O my True Guru - that condition, O Lord, is known only to You. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਮ ਰੁਲਤੇ ਫਿਰਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਬਾਤ ਨ ਪੂਛਤਾ ਗੁਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੰਗਿ ਕੀਰੇ ਹਮ ਥਾਪੇ ॥ ham rulate firate koee baat na poochhataa gur satigur sang keere ham thaape | I was rolling around in the dirt, and no one cared for me at all. In the Company of the Guru, the True Guru, I, the worm, have been raised up and exalted. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਧੰਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨ ਕੇਰਾ ਜਿਤੁ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਚੂਕੇ ਸਭਿ ਸੋਗ ਸੰਤਾਪੇ ॥੪॥੫॥੧੧॥੪੯॥ dhan dhan guroo naanak jan keraa jit miliai chooke sabh sog santaape |4|5|11|49| Blessed, blessed is the Guru of servant Nanak; meeting Him, all my sorrows and troubles have come to an end. ||4||5||11||49|| - Guru Ramdas Ji

ਕੰਚਨ ਨਾਰੀ ਮਹਿ ਜੀਉ ਲੁਭਤੁ ਹੈ ਮੋਹੁ ਮੀਠਾ ਮਾਇਆ ॥ kanchan naaree meh jeeo lubhat hai mohu meetthaa maaeaa | The soul of the man is lured by gold and women; emotional attachment to Maya is so sweet to him. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਘਰ ਮੰਦਰ ਘੋੜੇ ਖੁਸੀ ਮਨੁ ਅਨ ਰਸਿ ਲਾਇਆ ॥ ghar mandar ghorre khusee man an ras laaeaa | The mind has become attached to the pleasures of houses, palaces, horses and other enjoyments. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਚਿਤਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਕਿਉ ਛੂਟਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ har prabh chit na aavee kiau chhoottaa mere har raaeaa |1| The Lord God does not even enter his thoughts; how can he be saved, O my Lord King? ||1|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਮੇਰੇ ਰਾਮ ਇਹ ਨੀਚ ਕਰਮ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਰੇ ॥ mere raam ih neech karam har mere | O my Lord, these are my lowly actions, O my Lord. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਗੁਣਵੰਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਬਖਸਿ ਅਵਗਣ ਸਭਿ ਮੇਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ gunavantaa har har deaal kar kirapaa bakhas avagan sabh mere |1| rahaau | O Lord, Har, Har, Treasure of Virtue, Merciful Lord: please bless me with Your Grace and forgive me for all my mistakes. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਕਿਛੁ ਰੂਪੁ ਨਹੀ ਕਿਛੁ ਜਾਤਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਿਛੁ ਢੰਗੁ ਨ ਮੇਰਾ ॥ kichh roop nahee kichh jaat naahee kichh dtang na meraa | I have no beauty, no social status, no manners. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਕਿਆ ਮੁਹੁ ਲੈ ਬੋਲਹ ਗੁਣ ਬਿਹੂਨ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਿਆ ਨ ਤੇਰਾ ॥ kiaa muhu lai bolah gun bihoon naam japiaa na teraa | With what face am I to speak? I have no virtue at all; I have not chanted Your Name. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਮ ਪਾਪੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਗੁਰ ਉਬਰੇ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੇਰਾ ॥੨॥ ham paapee sang gur ubare pun satigur keraa |2| I am a sinner, saved only by the Company of the Guru. This is the generous blessing of the True Guru. ||2|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਸਭੁ ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਮੁਖੁ ਨਕੁ ਦੀਆ ਵਰਤਣ ਕਉ ਪਾਣੀ ॥ sabh jeeo pindd mukh nak deea varatan kau paanee | He gave all beings souls, bodies, mouths, noses and water to drink. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਅੰਨੁ ਖਾਣਾ ਕਪੜੁ ਪੈਨਣੁ ਦੀਆ ਰਸ ਅਨਿ ਭੋਗਾਣੀ ॥ an khaanaa kaparr painan deea ras an bhogaanee | He gave them corn to eat, clothes to wear, and other pleasures to enjoy. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜਿਨਿ ਦੀਏ ਸੁ ਚਿਤਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਪਸੂ ਹਉ ਕਰਿ ਜਾਣੀ ॥੩॥ jin dee su chit na aavee pasoo hau kar jaanee |3| But they do not remember the One who gave them all this. The animals think that they made themselves! ||3|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਸਭੁ ਕੀਤਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਤੂੰ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥ sabh keetaa teraa varatadaa toon antarajaamee | You made them all; You are all-pervading. You are the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਮ ਜੰਤ ਵਿਚਾਰੇ ਕਿਆ ਕਰਹ ਸਭੁ ਖੇਲੁ ਤੁਮ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥ ham jant vichaare kiaa karah sabh khel tum suaamee | What can these wretched creatures do? This whole drama is Yours, O Lord and Master. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਹਾਟਿ ਵਿਹਾਝਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਲਮ ਗੁਲਾਮੀ ॥੪॥੬॥੧੨॥੫੦॥ jan naanak haatt vihaajhiaa har gulam gulaamee |4|6|12|50| Servant Nanak was purchased in the slave-market. He is the slave of the Lord’s slaves. ||4||6||12||50|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
