ਇਸੁ ਕਲਿਜੁਗ ਮਹਿ ਕਰਮ ਧਰਮੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥ eis kalijug meh karam dharam na koee | In this Dark Age of Kali Yuga, no one is interested in good karma, or Dharmic faith. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਕਲੀ ਕਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਚੰਡਾਲ ਕੈ ਘਰਿ ਹੋਈ ॥ kalee kaa janam chanddaal kai ghar hoee | This Dark Age was born in the house of evil. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥੪॥੧੦॥੩੦॥ naanak naam binaa ko mukat na hoee |4|10|30| O Nanak, without the Naam, the Name of the Lord, no one is liberated. ||4||10||30|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਸਚਾ ਅਮਰੁ ਸਚਾ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹੁ ॥ sachaa amar sachaa paatisaahu | True is the Lord King, True is His Royal Command. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਮਨਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਰਾਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਵੇਪਰਵਾਹੁ ॥ man saachai raate har veparavaahu | Those whose minds are attuned to the True, - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਚੈ ਮਹਲਿ ਸਚਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਹੁ ॥੧॥ sachai mehal sach naam samaahu |1| Carefree Lord enter the True Mansion of His Presence, and merge in the True Name. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸੁਣਿ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥ sun man mere sabad veechaar | Listen, O my mind: contemplate the Word of the Shabad. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਰਾਮ ਜਪਹੁ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਉਤਰਹੁ ਪਾਰਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ raam japahu bhavajal utarahu paar |1| rahaau | Chant the Lord’s Name, and cross over the terrifying world-ocean. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਭਰਮੇ ਆਵੈ ਭਰਮੇ ਜਾਇ ॥ bharame aavai bharame jaae | In doubt he comes, and in doubt he goes. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਇਹੁ ਜਗੁ ਜਨਮਿਆ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ॥ eihu jag janamiaa doojai bhaae | This world is born out of the love of duality. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਨ ਚੇਤੈ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਇ ॥੨॥ manamukh na chetai aavai jaae |2| The self-willed manmukh does not remember the Lord; he continues coming and going in reincarnation. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਆਪਿ ਭੁਲਾ ਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪਿ ਭੁਲਾਇਆ ॥ aap bhulaa ki prabh aap bhulaaeaa | Does he himself go astray, or does God lead him astray? - Guru Amardas Ji
ਇਹੁ ਜੀਉ ਵਿਡਾਣੀ ਚਾਕਰੀ ਲਾਇਆ ॥ eihu jeeo viddaanee chaakaree laaeaa | This soul is enjoined to the service of someone else. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਮਹਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਖਟੇ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥੩॥ mahaa dukh khatte birathaa janam gavaaeaa |3| It earns only terrible pain, and this life is lost in vain. ||3|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥ kirapaa kar satiguroo milaae | Granting His Grace, He leads us to meet the True Guru. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਏਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਚੇਤੇ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਭਰਮੁ ਚੁਕਾਏ ॥ eko naam chete vichahu bharam chukaae | Remembering the One Name, doubt is cast out from within. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੇ ਨਾਉ ਨਉ ਨਿਧਿ ਪਾਏ ॥੪॥੧੧॥੩੧॥ naanak naam jape naau nau nidh paae |4|11|31| O Nanak, chanting the Naam, the Name of the Lord, the nine treasures of the Name are obtained. ||4||11||31|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਜਿਨਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਤਿਨ ਪੂਛਉ ਜਾਇ ॥ jinaa guramukh dhiaaeaa tin poochhau jaae | Go and ask the Gurmukhs, who meditate on the Lord. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੇ ਮਨੁ ਪਤੀਆਇ ॥ gur sevaa te man pateeae | Serving the Guru, the mind is satisfied. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸੇ ਧਨਵੰਤ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਮਾਇ ॥ se dhanavant har naam kamaae | Those who earn the Lord’s Name are wealthy. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਇ ॥੧॥ poore gur te sojhee paae |1| Through the Perfect Guru, understanding is obtained. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ॥ har har naam japahu mere bhaaee | Chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, O my Siblings of Destiny. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੇਵਾ ਹਰਿ ਘਾਲ ਥਾਇ ਪਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ guramukh sevaa har ghaal thaae paaee |1| rahaau | The Gurmukhs serve the Lord, and so they are accepted. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਆਪੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਇ ॥ aap pachhaanai man niramal hoe | Those who recognize the self - their minds become pure. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਜੀਵਨ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥ jeevan mukat har paavai soe | They become Jivan-mukta, liberated while yet alive, and they find the Lord. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਮਤਿ ਊਤਮ ਹੋਇ ॥ har gun gaavai mat aootam hoe | Singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, the intellect becomes pure and sublime, - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਹਜੇ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥੨॥ sahaje sehaj samaavai soe |2| and they are easily and intuitively absorbed in the Lord. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਨ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਜਾਇ ॥ doojai bhaae na seviaa jaae | In the love of duality, no one can serve the Lord. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਹਾ ਬਿਖੁ ਖਾਇ ॥ haumai maaeaa mahaa bikh khaae | In egotism and Maya, they are eating toxic poison. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਪੁਤਿ ਕੁਟੰਬਿ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਮੋਹਿਆ ਮਾਇ ॥ put kuttanb grihi mohiaa maae | They are emotionally attached to their children, family and home. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਧਾ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਇ ॥੩॥ manamukh andhaa aavai jaae |3| The blind, self-willed manmukhs come and go in reincarnation. ||3|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇਵੈ ਜਨੁ ਸੋਇ ॥ har har naam devai jan soe | Those, unto whom the Lord bestows His Name, - Guru Amardas Ji
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਗੁਰਸਬਦੀ ਹੋਇ ॥ anadin bhagat gurasabadee hoe | Worship Him night and day, through the Word of the Guru’s Shabad. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਬੂਝੈ ਕੋਇ ॥ guramat viralaa boojhai koe | How rare are those who understand the Guru’s Teachings! - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥੪॥੧੨॥੩੨॥ naanak naam samaavai soe |4|12|32| O Nanak, they are absorbed in the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||4||12||32|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਪੂਰਾ ਜਨੁ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਕੋਈ ॥ pooraa jan kaar kamaavai koee | Very few are those perfect ones who do this good deed. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਅਖੁਟੁ ਨਾਮ ਧਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਤੋਟਿ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥ akhutt naam dhan har tott na hoee | The wealth of the Lord’s Name is inexhaustible; it shall never be exhausted. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਐਥੈ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਦਰਿ ਸੋਭਾ ਹੋਈ ॥੧॥ aithai sadaa sukh dar sobhaa hoee |1| In this world, it brings a constant peace, and at the Lord’s Gate, it brings honor. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਏ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਰਮੁ ਨ ਕੀਜੈ ॥ e man mere bharam na keejai | O my mind, have no doubt about this. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੇਵਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਜੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ guramukh sevaa amrit ras peejai |1| rahaau | Those Gurmukhs who serve, drink in the Ambrosial Nectar. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸੇ ਮਹਾਪੁਰਖ ਸੰਸਾਰੇ ॥ satigur seveh se mahaapurakh sansaare | Those who serve the True Guru are the greatest people of the world. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਆਪਿ ਉਧਰੇ ਕੁਲ ਸਗਲ ਨਿਸਤਾਰੇ ॥ aap udhare kul sagal nisataare | They save themselves, and they redeem all their generations as well. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਖਹਿ ਉਰ ਧਾਰੇ ॥ har kaa naam rakheh ur dhaare | They keep the Name of the Lord clasped tightly to their hearts. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਭਉਜਲ ਉਤਰਹਿ ਪਾਰੇ ॥੨॥ naam rate bhaujal utareh paare |2| Attuned to the Naam, they cross over the terrifying world-ocean. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸਦਾ ਮਨਿ ਦਾਸਾ ॥ satigur seveh sadaa man daasaa | Serving the True Guru, the mind becomes humble forever. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਕਮਲੁ ਪਰਗਾਸਾ ॥ haumai maar kamal paragaasaa | Egotism is subdued, and the heart-lotus blossoms forth. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਅਨਹਦੁ ਵਾਜੈ ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਵਾਸਾ ॥ anahad vaajai nij ghar vaasaa | The Unstruck Melody vibrates, as they dwell within the home of the self. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਘਰ ਮਾਹਿ ਉਦਾਸਾ ॥੩॥ naam rate ghar maeh udaasaa |3| Attuned to the Naam, they remain detached within their own home. ||3|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਸਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ॥ satigur seveh tin kee sachee baanee | Serving the True Guru, their words are true. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਜੁਗੁ ਜੁਗੁ ਭਗਤੀ ਆਖਿ ਵਖਾਣੀ ॥ jug jug bhagatee aakh vakhaanee | Throughout the ages, the devotees chant and repeat these words. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਜਪਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਾਰੰਗਪਾਣੀ ॥ anadin japeh har saarangapaanee | Night and day, they meditate on the Lord, the Sustainer of the Earth. - Guru Amardas Ji
