ਮਨਿ ਨਿਰਮਲਿ ਵਸੈ ਸਚੁ ਸੋਇ ॥ man niramal vasai sach soe | The mind becomes pure, when the True Lord dwells within. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਾਚਿ ਵਸਿਐ ਸਾਚੀ ਸਭ ਕਾਰ ॥ saach vasiai saachee sabh kaar | When one dwells in Truth, all actions become true. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਊਤਮ ਕਰਣੀ ਸਬਦ ਬੀਚਾਰ ॥੩॥ aootam karanee sabad beechaar |3| The ultimate action is to contemplate the Word of the Shabad. ||3|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਸਾਚੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਹੋਇ ॥ gur te saachee sevaa hoe | Through the Guru, true service is performed. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ਕੋਇ ॥ guramukh naam pachhaanai koe | How rare is that Gurmukh who recognizes the Naam, the Name of the Lord. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਜੀਵੈ ਦਾਤਾ ਦੇਵਣਹਾਰੁ ॥ jeevai daataa devanahaar | The Giver, the Great Giver, lives forever. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੇ ਲਗੈ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥੪॥੧॥੨੧॥ naanak har naame lagai piaar |4|1|21| Nanak enshrines love for the Name of the Lord. ||4||1||21|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਪਾਏ ਜਨੁ ਕੋਇ ॥ gur te giaan paae jan koe | Those who obtain spiritual wisdom from the Guru are very rare. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਬੂਝੈ ਸੀਝੈ ਸੋਇ ॥ gur te boojhai seejhai soe | Those who obtain this understanding from the Guru become acceptable. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਸਹਜੁ ਸਾਚੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥ gur te sehaj saach beechaar | Through the Guru, we intuitively contemplate the True One. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਪਾਏ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਦੁਆਰੁ ॥੧॥ gur te paae mukat duaar |1| Through the Guru, the Gate of Liberation is found. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਗੁਰੁ ਆਇ ॥ poorai bhaag milai gur aae | Through perfect good destiny, we come to meet the Guru. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਾਚੈ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਾਚਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ saachai sehaj saach samaae |1| rahaau | The true ones are intuitively absorbed in the True Lord. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਅਗਨਿ ਬੁਝਾਏ ॥ gur miliai trisanaa agan bujhaae | Meeting the Guru, the fire of desire is quenched. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਏ ॥ gur te saant vasai man aae | Through the Guru, peace and tranquility come to dwell within the mind. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਪਵਿਤ ਪਾਵਨ ਸੁਚਿ ਹੋਇ ॥ gur te pavit paavan such hoe | Through the Guru, we become pure, holy and true. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਾ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥ gur te sabad milaavaa hoe |2| Through the Guru, we are absorbed in the Word of the Shabad. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਬਾਝੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਭ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਈ ॥ baajh guroo sabh bharam bhulaaee | Without the Guru, everyone wanders in doubt. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਬਹੁਤਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਈ ॥ bin naavai bahutaa dukh paaee | Without the Name, they suffer in terrible pain. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈ ॥ guramukh hovai su naam dhiaaee | Those who meditate on the Naam become Gurmukh. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਦਰਸਨਿ ਸਚੈ ਸਚੀ ਪਤਿ ਹੋਈ ॥੩॥ darasan sachai sachee pat hoee |3| True honor is obtained through the Darshan, the Blessed Vision of the True Lord. ||3|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਕਿਸ ਨੋ ਕਹੀਐ ਦਾਤਾ ਇਕੁ ਸੋਈ ॥ kis no kaheeai daataa ik soee | Why speak of any other? He alone is the Giver. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਾ ਹੋਈ ॥ kirapaa kare sabad milaavaa hoee | When He grants His Grace, union with the Shabad is obtained. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਮਿਲਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਸਾਚੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਾ ॥ mil preetam saache gun gaavaa | Meeting with my Beloved, I sing the Glorious Praises of the True Lord. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਚੇ ਸਾਚਿ ਸਮਾਵਾ ॥੪॥੨॥੨੨॥ naanak saache saach samaavaa |4|2|22| O Nanak, becoming true, I am absorbed in the True One. ||4||2||22|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਸਚਿ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ਕਰੇ ਸਚੁ ਸੋਇ ॥ sach nivaas kare sach soe | True is the one who abides in Truth. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਜੁਗ ਚਾਰੇ ਜਾਪੈ ॥ sachee baanee jug chaare jaapai | The True Bani of the Word is known throughout the four ages. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਆਪੇ ਆਪੈ ॥੧॥ sabh kichh saachaa aape aapai |1| The True One Himself is everything. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਕਰਮੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਸਤਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥ karam hovai satasang milaae | Through the karma of good actions, one joins the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਬੈਸਿ ਸੁ ਥਾਏ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ har gun gaavai bais su thaae |1| rahaau | Sing the Glories of the Lord, sitting in that place. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਜਲਉ ਇਹ ਜਿਹਵਾ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ॥ jlau ih jihavaa doojai bhaae | Burn this tongue, which loves duality, - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਨ ਚਾਖੈ ਫੀਕਾ ਆਲਾਇ ॥ har ras na chaakhai feekaa aalaae | which does not taste the sublime essence of the Lord, and which utters insipid words. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਬਿਨੁ ਬੂਝੇ ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਫੀਕਾ ਹੋਇ ॥ bin boojhe tan man feekaa hoe | Without understanding, the body and mind become tasteless and insipid. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਦੁਖੀਆ ਚਲਿਆ ਰੋਇ ॥੨॥ bin naavai dukheea chaliaa roe |2| Without the Name, the miserable ones depart crying out in pain. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਰਸਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਚਾਖਿਆ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥ rasanaa har ras chaakhiaa sehaj subhaae | One whose tongue naturally and intuitively tastes the Lord’s sublime essence, - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥ gur kirapaa te sach samaae | By Guru’s Grace, is absorbed in the True Lord. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਾਚੇ ਰਾਤੀ ਗੁਰਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰ ॥ saache raatee gurasabad veechaar | Imbued with Truth, one contemplates the Word of the Guru’s Shabad, - Guru Amardas Ji
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਵੈ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਧਾਰ ॥੩॥ amrit peevai niramal dhaar |3| and drinks in the Ambrosial Nectar, from the immaculate stream within. ||3|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ਜੋ ਭਾਡਾ ਹੋਇ ॥ naam samaavai jo bhaaddaa hoe | The Naam, the Name of the Lord, is collected in the vessel of the mind. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਊਂਧੈ ਭਾਂਡੈ ਟਿਕੈ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥ aoondhai bhaanddai ttikai na koe | Nothing is collected if the vessel is upside-down. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰਸਬਦੀ ਮਨਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ॥ gurasabadee man naam nivaas | Through the Word of the Guru’s Shabad, the Naam abides within the mind. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚੁ ਭਾਂਡਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਸਬਦ ਪਿਆਸ ॥੪॥੩॥੨੩॥ naanak sach bhaanddaa jis sabad piaas |4|3|23| O Nanak, True is that vessel of the mind, which thirsts for the Shabad. ||4||3||23|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਇਕਿ ਗਾਵਤ ਰਹੇ ਮਨਿ ਸਾਦੁ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥ eik gaavat rahe man saad na paae | Some sing on and on, but their minds do not find happiness. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਾਇ ॥ haumai vich gaaveh birathaa jaae | In egotism, they sing, but it is wasted uselessly. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗਾਵਣਿ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਜਿਨ ਨਾਮ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥ gaavan gaaveh jin naam piaar | Those who love the Naam, sing the song. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਾਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਬਦ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥੧॥ saachee baanee sabad beechaar |1| They contemplate the True Bani of the Word, and the Shabad. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗਾਵਤ ਰਹੈ ਜੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭਾਵੈ ॥ gaavat rahai je satigur bhaavai | They sing on and on, if it pleases the True Guru. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਰਾਤਾ ਨਾਮਿ ਸੁਹਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ man tan raataa naam suhaavai |1| rahaau | Their minds and bodies are embellished and adorned, attuned to the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਇਕਿ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਇਕਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰੇਹਿ ॥ eik gaaveh ik bhagat karehi | Some sing, and some perform devotional worship. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਸਨੇਹ ॥ naam na paaveh bin asaneh | Without heart-felt love, the Naam is not obtained. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਚੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਗੁਰਸਬਦ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥ sachee bhagat gurasabad piaar | True devotional worship consists of love for the Word of the Guru’s Shabad. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਅਪਨਾ ਪਿਰੁ ਰਾਖਿਆ ਸਦਾ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰਿ ॥੨॥ apanaa pir raakhiaa sadaa ur dhaar |2| The devotee keeps his Beloved clasped tightly to his heart. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji
