ਖੋਟੇ ਖਰੇ ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪਿ ਉਪਾਏ ॥ khotte khare tudh aap upaae | You Yourself created the counterfeit and the genuine. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪੇ ਪਰਖੇ ਲੋਕ ਸਬਾਏ ॥ tudh aape parakhe lok sabaae | You Yourself appraise all people. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਖਰੇ ਪਰਖਿ ਖਜਾਨੈ ਪਾਇਹਿ ਖੋਟੇ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੬॥ khare parakh khajaanai paaeihi khotte bharam bhulaavaniaa |6| You appraise the true, and place them in Your Treasury; You consign the false to wander in delusion. ||6|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਕਿਉ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖਾ ਕਿਉ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ॥ kiau kar vekhaa kiau saalaahee | How can I behold You? How can I praise You? - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਲਾਹੀ ॥ gur parasaadee sabad salaahee | By Guru’s Grace, I praise You through the Word of the Shabad. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਤੇਰੇ ਭਾਣੇ ਵਿਚਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਵਸੈ ਤੂੰ ਭਾਣੈ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਆਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ tere bhaane vich amrit vasai toon bhaanai amrit peeaavaniaa |7| In Your Sweet Will, the Amrit is found; by Your Will, You inspire us to drink in this Amrit. ||7|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਸਬਦੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਹਰਿ ਬਾਣੀ ॥ amrit sabad amrit har baanee | The Shabad is Amrit; the Lord’s Bani is Amrit. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਸੇਵਿਐ ਰਿਦੈ ਸਮਾਣੀ ॥ satigur seviai ridai samaanee | Serving the True Guru, it permeates the heart. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਪੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਸਭ ਭੁਖ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੮॥੧੫॥੧੬॥ naanak amrit naam sadaa sukhadaataa pee amrit sabh bhukh leh jaavaniaa |8|15|16| O Nanak, the Ambrosial Naam is forever the Giver of peace; drinking in this Amrit, all hunger is satisfied. ||8||15||16|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਵਰਸੈ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਏ ॥ amrit varasai sehaj subhaae | The Ambrosial Nectar rains down, softly and gently. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਕੋਈ ਜਨੁ ਪਾਏ ॥ guramukh viralaa koee jan paae | How rare are those Gurmukhs who find it. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀ ਸਦਾ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਸੇ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਬੁਝਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ amrit pee sadaa tripataase kar kirapaa trisanaa bujhaavaniaa |1| Those who drink it in are satisfied forever. Showering His Mercy upon them, the Lord quenches their thirst. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਆਵਣਿਆ ॥ hau vaaree jeeo vaaree guramukh amrit peeaavaniaa | I am a sacrifice, my soul is a sacrifice, to those Gurmukhs who drink in this Ambrosial Nectar. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਰਸਨਾ ਰਸੁ ਚਾਖਿ ਸਦਾ ਰਹੈ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੀ ਸਹਜੇ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ rasanaa ras chaakh sadaa rahai rang raatee sahaje har gun gaavaniaa |1| rahaau | The tongue tastes the essence, and remains forever imbued with the Lord’s Love, intuitively singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਸਹਜੁ ਕੋ ਪਾਏ ॥ gur parasaadee sehaj ko paae | By Guru’s Grace, intuitive understanding is obtained; - Guru Amardas Ji
ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਮਾਰੇ ਇਕਸੁ ਸਿਉ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਏ ॥ dubidhaa maare ikas siau liv laae | subduing the sense of duality, they are in love with the One. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਨਦਰੀ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੨॥ nadar kare taa har gun gaavai nadaree sach samaavaniaa |2| When He bestows His Glance of Grace, then they sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord; by His Grace, they merge in Truth. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਭਨਾ ਉਪਰਿ ਨਦਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇਰੀ ॥ sabhanaa upar nadar prabh teree | Above all is Your Glance of Grace, O God. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਕਿਸੈ ਥੋੜੀ ਕਿਸੈ ਹੈ ਘਣੇਰੀ ॥ kisai thorree kisai hai ghaneree | Upon some it is bestowed less, and upon others it is bestowed more. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਤੁਝ ਤੇ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਕਿਛੁ ਨ ਹੋਵੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੩॥ tujh te baahar kichh na hovai guramukh sojhee paavaniaa |3| Without You, nothing happens at all; the Gurmukhs understand this. ||3|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਤਤੁ ਹੈ ਬੀਚਾਰਾ ॥ guramukh tat hai beechaaraa | The Gurmukhs contemplate the essence of reality; - Guru Amardas Ji
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਭਰੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਭੰਡਾਰਾ ॥ amrit bhare tere bhanddaaraa | Your Treasures are overflowing with Ambrosial Nectar. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵੇ ਕੋਈ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੪॥ bin satigur seve koee na paavai gur kirapaa te paavaniaa |4| Without serving the True Guru, no one obtains it. It is obtained only by Guru’s Grace. ||4|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵੈ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਸੋਹੈ ॥ satigur sevai so jan sohai | Those who serve the True Guru are beautiful. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮਿ ਅੰਤਰੁ ਮਨੁ ਮੋਹੈ ॥ amrit naam antar man mohai | The Ambrosial Naam, the Name of the Lord, entices their inner minds. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਬਾਣੀ ਰਤਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਣਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੫॥ amrit man tan baanee rataa amrit sehaj sunaavaniaa |5| Their minds and bodies are attuned to the Ambrosial Bani of the Word; this Ambrosial Nectar is intuitively heard. ||5|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਭੂਲਾ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਖੁਆਏ ॥ manamukh bhoolaa doojai bhaae khuaae | The deluded, self-willed manmukhs are ruined through the love of duality. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਲੇਵੈ ਮਰੈ ਬਿਖੁ ਖਾਏ ॥ naam na levai marai bikh khaae | They do not chant the Naam, and they die, eating poison. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸਦਾ ਵਿਸਟਾ ਮਹਿ ਵਾਸਾ ਬਿਨੁ ਸੇਵਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੬॥ anadin sadaa visattaa meh vaasaa bin sevaa janam gavaavaniaa |6| Night and day, they continually sit in manure. Without selfless service, their lives are wasted away. ||6|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਵੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਆਪਿ ਪੀਆਏ ॥ amrit peevai jis no aap peeae | They alone drink in this Amrit, whom the Lord Himself inspires to do so. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਸਹਜਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਏ ॥ gur parasaadee sehaj liv laae | By Guru’s Grace, they intuitively enshrine love for the Lord. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਪੂਰਨ ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਭ ਆਪੇ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਨਦਰੀ ਆਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ pooran poor rahiaa sabh aape guramat nadaree aavaniaa |7| The Perfect Lord is Himself perfectly pervading everywhere; through the Guru’s Teachings, He is perceived. ||7|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਸੋਈ ॥ aape aap niranjan soee | He Himself is the Immaculate Lord. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਜਿਨਿ ਸਿਰਜੀ ਤਿਨਿ ਆਪੇ ਗੋਈ ॥ jin sirajee tin aape goee | He who has created, shall Himself destroy. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲਿ ਸਦਾ ਤੂੰ ਸਹਜੇ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੮॥੧੬॥੧੭॥ naanak naam samaal sadaa toon sahaje sach samaavaniaa |8|16|17| O Nanak, remember the Naam forever, and you shall merge into the True One with intuitive ease. ||8||16||17|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਸਦਾ ਸਚੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸਹਜ ਸੁਭਾਏ ॥ sadaa sach seveh sehaj subhaae | They serve the True One forever, with intuitive ease. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਚਾ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਸਚੈ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ sachai sabad sachaa saalaahee sachai mel milaavaniaa |1| Through the True Word of the Shabad, they praise the True One, and they merge in the merging of Truth. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਸਚੁ ਸਾਲਾਹਣਿਆ ॥ hau vaaree jeeo vaaree sach saalaahaniaa | I am a sacrifice, my soul is a sacrifice, to those who praise the True One. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਚੁ ਧਿਆਇਨਿ ਸੇ ਸਚਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਸਚੇ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ sach dhiaaein se sach raate sache sach samaavaniaa |1| rahaau | Those who meditate on the True One are attuned to Truth; they are absorbed into the Truest of the True. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਜਹ ਦੇਖਾ ਸਚੁ ਸਭਨੀ ਥਾਈ ॥ jeh dekhaa sach sabhanee thaaee | The True One is everywhere, wherever I look. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਈ ॥ gur parasaadee man vasaaee | By Guru’s Grace, I enshrine Him in my mind. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਤਨੁ ਸਚਾ ਰਸਨਾ ਸਚਿ ਰਾਤੀ ਸਚੁ ਸੁਣਿ ਆਖਿ ਵਖਾਨਣਿਆ ॥੨॥ tan sachaa rasanaa sach raatee sach sun aakh vakhaananiaa |2| True are the bodies of those whose tongues are attuned to Truth. They hear the Truth, and speak it with their mouths. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji
