ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕਾ ਰੋਗੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥ janam janam kaa rog gavaaeaa | is rid of the illnesses of countless lifetimes and incarnations. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਗਾਵਹੁ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਸਫਲ ਏਹਾ ਹੈ ਕਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥ har keeratan gaavahu din raatee safal ehaa hai kaaree jeeo |3| So sing the Kirtan of the Lord’s Praises, day and night. This is the most fruitful occupation. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਧਾਰਿ ਅਪਨਾ ਦਾਸੁ ਸਵਾਰਿਆ ॥ drisatt dhaar apanaa daas savaariaa | Bestowing His Glance of Grace, He has adorned His slave. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਘਟ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਨਮਸਕਾਰਿਆ ॥ ghatt ghatt antar paarabraham namasakaariaa | Deep within each and every heart, the Supreme Lord is humbly worshipped. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਇਕਸੁ ਵਿਣੁ ਹੋਰੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਬਾਬਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਇਹ ਮਤਿ ਸਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੩੯॥੪੬॥ eikas vin hor doojaa naahee baabaa naanak ih mat saaree jeeo |4|39|46| Without the One, there is no other at all. O Baba Nanak, this is the most excellent wisdom. ||4||39||46|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਰਤਾ ਰਾਮ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥ man tan rataa raam piaare | My mind and body are imbued with love for the Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਰਬਸੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਅਪਨਾ ਵਾਰੇ ॥ sarabas deejai apanaa vaare | I sacrifice everything for Him. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਈਐ ਬਿਸਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਸਾਸਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥ aatth pehar govind gun gaaeeai bisar na koee saasaa jeeo |1| Twenty-four hours a day, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe. Do not forget Him, for even one breath. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੋਈ ਸਾਜਨ ਮੀਤੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ॥ soee saajan meet piaaraa | He is a companion, a friend, and a beloved of mine, - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਬੀਚਾਰਾ ॥ raam naam saadhasang beechaaraa | who reflects upon the Lord’s Name, in the Company of the Holy. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਿ ਤਰੀਜੈ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਕਟੀਐ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਫਾਸਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥ saadhoo sang tareejai saagar katteeai jam kee faasaa jeeo |2| In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, cross over the world-ocean, and the noose of death shall be cut away. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਚਾਰਿ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ॥ chaar padaarath har kee sevaa | The four cardinal blessings are obtained by serving the Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪਾਰਜਾਤੁ ਜਪਿ ਅਲਖ ਅਭੇਵਾ ॥ paarajaat jap alakh abhevaa | The Elysian Tree, the source of all blessings, is meditation on the Unseen and Unknowable Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਗੁਰਿ ਕਾਟੇ ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਈ ਆਸਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥ kaam krodh kilabikh gur kaatte pooran hoee aasaa jeeo |3| The Guru has cut out the sinful mistakes of sexual desire and anger, and my hopes have been fulfilled. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪੂਰਨ ਭਾਗ ਭਏ ਜਿਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ॥ pooran bhaag bhe jis praanee | That mortal who is blessed by perfect destiny meets the Lord, - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਸਾਰੰਗਪਾਣੀ ॥ saadhasang mile saarangapaanee | The Sustainer of the Universe, in the Company of the Holy. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਿਆ ਜਿਸੁ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ਗਿਰਸਤ ਉਦਾਸਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੪੦॥੪੭॥ naanak naam vasiaa jis antar paravaan girasat udaasaa jeeo |4|40|47| O Nanak, if the Naam, the Name of the Lord, dwells within the mind, one is approved and accepted, whether he is a house-holder or a renunciate. ||4||40||47|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਸਿਮਰਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ simarat naam ridai sukh paaeaa | Meditating on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, my heart is filled with peace. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਭਗਤਂੀ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਇਆ ॥ kar kirapaa bhagatanee pragattaaeaa | By His Grace, His devotees become famous and acclaimed. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੰਤਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿਆ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਆਲਸ ਰੋਗਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥ santasang mil har har japiaa binase aalas rogaa jeeo |1| Joining the Society of the Saints, I chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har; the disease of laziness has disappeared. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਨਵ ਨਿਧਿ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਈ ॥ jaa kai grihi nav nidh har bhaaee | O Siblings of Destiny, the nine treasures are found in the Home of the Lord; - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤਿਸੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਜਿਸੁ ਪੁਰਬ ਕਮਾਈ ॥ tis miliaa jis purab kamaaee | He comes to meet those who deserve it by their past actions. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗਿਆਨ ਧਿਆਨ ਪੂਰਨ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਭਨਾ ਗਲਾ ਜੋਗਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥ giaan dhiaan pooran paramesur prabh sabhanaa galaa jogaa jeeo |2| The Perfect Transcendent Lord is spiritual wisdom and meditation. God is All-powerful to do all things. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਥਾਪਿ ਉਥਾਪਨਹਾਰਾ ॥ khin meh thaap uthaapanahaaraa | In an instant, He establishes and disestablishes. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਆਪਿ ਇਕੰਤੀ ਆਪਿ ਪਸਾਰਾ ॥ aap ikantee aap pasaaraa | He Himself is the One, and He Himself is the Many. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਲੇਪੁ ਨਹੀ ਜਗਜੀਵਨ ਦਾਤੇ ਦਰਸਨ ਡਿਠੇ ਲਹਨਿ ਵਿਜੋਗਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥ lep nahee jagajeevan daate darasan dditthe lehan vijogaa jeeo |3| Filth does not stick to the Giver, the Life of the World. Gazing upon the Blessed Vision of His Darshan, the pain of separation departs. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਅੰਚਲਿ ਲਾਇ ਸਭ ਸਿਸਟਿ ਤਰਾਈ ॥ anchal laae sabh sisatt taraaee | Holding on to the hem of His Robe, the entire Universe is saved. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਉ ਆਪਿ ਜਪਾਈ ॥ aapanaa naau aap japaaee | He Himself causes His Name to be chanted. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗੁਰ ਬੋਹਿਥੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਧੁਰਿ ਸੰਜੋਗਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੪੧॥੪੮॥ gur bohith paaeaa kirapaa te naanak dhur sanjogaa jeeo |4|41|48| The Boat of the Guru is found by His Grace; O Nanak, such blessed destiny is pre-ordained. ||4||41||48|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਸੋਈ ਕਰਣਾ ਜਿ ਆਪਿ ਕਰਾਏ ॥ soee karanaa ji aap karaae | People do whatever the Lord inspires them to do. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਿਥੈ ਰਖੈ ਸਾ ਭਲੀ ਜਾਏ ॥ jithai rakhai saa bhalee jaae | Wherever He keeps us is a good place. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸੋਈ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਸੋ ਪਤਿਵੰਤਾ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਲਗੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਮੀਠਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥ soee siaanaa so pativantaa hukam lagai jis meetthaa jeeo |1| That person is clever and honorable, unto whom the Hukam of the Lord’s Command seems sweet. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਭ ਪਰੋਈ ਇਕਤੁ ਧਾਗੈ ॥ sabh paroee ikat dhaagai | Everything is strung upon the One String of the Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਿਸੁ ਲਾਇ ਲਏ ਸੋ ਚਰਣੀ ਲਾਗੈ ॥ jis laae le so charanee laagai | Those whom the Lord attaches, are attached to His Feet. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਊਂਧ ਕਵਲੁ ਜਿਸੁ ਹੋਇ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸਾ ਤਿਨਿ ਸਰਬ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਡੀਠਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥ aoondh kaval jis hoe pragaasaa tin sarab niranjan ddeetthaa jeeo |2| Those, whose inverted lotus of the crown chakra is illuminated, see the Immaculate Lord everywhere. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤੇਰੀ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਤੂੰਹੈ ਜਾਣਹਿ ॥ teree mahimaa toonhai jaaneh | Only You Yourself know Your Glory. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਅਪਣਾ ਆਪੁ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਿ ਪਛਾਣਹਿ ॥ apanaa aap toon aap pachhaaneh | You Yourself recognize Your Own Self. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਸੰਤਨ ਤੇਰੇ ਜਿਨਿ ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਲੋਭੁ ਪੀਠਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥ hau balihaaree santan tere jin kaam krodh lobh peetthaa jeeo |3| I am a sacrifice to Your Saints, who have crushed their sexual desire, anger and greed. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤੂੰ ਨਿਰਵੈਰੁ ਸੰਤ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਿਰਮਲ ॥ toon niravair sant tere niramal | You have no hatred or vengeance; Your Saints are immaculate and pure. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਿਨ ਦੇਖੇ ਸਭ ਉਤਰਹਿ ਕਲਮਲ ॥ jin dekhe sabh utareh kalamal | Seeing them, all sins depart. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ਧਿਆਇ ਜੀਵੈ ਬਿਨਸਿਆ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਧੀਠਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੪੨॥੪੯॥ naanak naam dhiaae dhiaae jeevai binasiaa bhram bhau dheetthaa jeeo |4|42|49| Nanak lives by meditating, meditating on the Naam. His stubborn doubt and fear have departed. ||4||42||49|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
