ਜੀਇ ਸਮਾਲੀ ਤਾ ਸਭੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਲਥਾ ॥ jee samaalee taa sabh dukh lathaa | When I dwell upon Him in my soul, all my sorrows depart. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਚਿੰਤਾ ਰੋਗੁ ਗਈ ਹਉ ਪੀੜਾ ਆਪਿ ਕਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥ chintaa rog gee hau peerraa aap kare pratipaalaa jeeo |2| The sickness of anxiety and the disease of ego are cured; He Himself cherishes me. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਬਾਰਿਕ ਵਾਂਗੀ ਹਉ ਸਭ ਕਿਛੁ ਮੰਗਾ ॥ baarik vaangee hau sabh kichh mangaa | Like a child, I ask for everything. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਦੇਦੇ ਤੋਟਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਰੰਗਾ ॥ dede tott naahee prabh rangaa | God is Bountiful and Beautiful; He never comes up empty. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਪੈਰੀ ਪੈ ਪੈ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਮਨਾਈ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਗੋਪਾਲਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥ pairee pai pai bahut manaaee deen deaal gopaalaa jeeo |3| Again and again, I fall at His Feet. He is Merciful to the meek, the Sustainer of the World. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ॥ hau balihaaree satigur poore | I am a sacrifice to the Perfect True Guru, - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਿਨਿ ਬੰਧਨ ਕਾਟੇ ਸਗਲੇ ਮੇਰੇ ॥ jin bandhan kaatte sagale mere | who has shattered all my bonds. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਕੀਏ ਨਾਨਕ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਸਾਲਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੮॥੧੫॥ hiradai naam de niramal kee naanak rang rasaalaa jeeo |4|8|15| With the Naam, the Name of the Lord, in my heart, I have been purified. O Nanak, His Love has imbued me with nectar. ||4||8||15|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਗਹਿਰ ਗੰਭੀਰ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਗੋਵਿੰਦੇ ॥ gahir ganbheer beant govinde | Profoundly Deep, Infinite Lord of the Universe, - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਊਚ ਅਥਾਹ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਹਉ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥ aooch athaah beant suaamee simar simar hau jeevaan jeeo |1| Highest of the High, Unfathomable, Infinite Lord and Master: continually remembering You in deep meditation, I live. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਦੁਖ ਭੰਜਨ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਅਮੋਲੇ ॥ dukh bhanjan nidhaan amole | O Destroyer of pain, Priceless Treasure, - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਿਰਵੈਰ ਅਥਾਹ ਅਤੋਲੇ ॥ nirbhau niravair athaah atole | Fearless, free of hate, Unfathomable, Immeasurable, - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਅਕਾਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਅਜੂਨੀ ਸੰਭੌ ਮਨ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਠੰਢਾ ਥੀਵਾਂ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥ akaal moorat ajoonee sanbhau man simarat tthandtaa theevaan jeeo |2| of Undying Form, Unborn, Self-illumined: remembering You in meditation, my mind is filled with a deep and profound peace. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਦਾ ਸੰਗੀ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗ ਗੋਪਾਲਾ ॥ sadaa sangee har rang gopaalaa | The Joyous Lord, the Sustainer of the World, is my constant Companion. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਊਚ ਨੀਚ ਕਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਾ ॥ aooch neech kare pratipaalaa | He cherishes the high and the low. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਮੁ ਰਸਾਇਣੁ ਮਨੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਇਣੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਵਾਂ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥ naam rasaaein man tripataaein guramukh amrit peevaan jeeo |3| The Nectar of the Name satisfies my mind. As Gurmukh, I drink in the Ambrosial Nectar. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਦੁਖਿ ਸੁਖਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਤੁਧੁ ਧਿਆਈ ॥ dukh sukh piaare tudh dhiaaee | In suffering and in comfort, I meditate on You, O Beloved. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਏਹ ਸੁਮਤਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੇ ਪਾਈ ॥ eeh sumat guroo te paaee | I have obtained this sublime understanding from the Guru. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਧਰ ਤੂੰਹੈ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਪਰੀਵਾਂ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੯॥੧੬॥ naanak kee dhar toonhai tthaakur har rang paar pareevaan jeeo |4|9|16| You are Nanak’s Support, O my Lord and Master; through Your Love, I swim across to the other side. ||4||9||16|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਸਫਲੁ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਨੇਤ੍ਰ ਪੇਖਤ ਤਰਿਆ ॥ safal darasan netr pekhat tariaa | Gazing upon the Fruitful Vision of His Darshan, I have been saved. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਧੰਨੁ ਮੂਰਤ ਚਸੇ ਪਲ ਘੜੀਆ ਧੰਨਿ ਸੁ ਓਇ ਸੰਜੋਗਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥ dhan moorat chase pal gharreea dhan su oe sanjogaa jeeo |1| Blessed are the hours, the minutes and the seconds-blessed is that Union with Him. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਉਦਮੁ ਕਰਤ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਆ ॥ audam karat man niramal hoaa | Making the effort, my mind has become pure. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਰਿ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਚਲਤ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਸਗਲਾ ਖੋਇਆ ॥ har maarag chalat bhram sagalaa khoeaa | Walking on the Lord’s Path, my doubts have all been cast out. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਸੁਣਾਇਆ ਮਿਟਿ ਗਏ ਸਗਲੇ ਰੋਗਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥ naam nidhaan satiguroo sunaaeaa mitt ge sagale rogaa jeeo |2| The True Guru has inspired me to hear the Treasure of the Naam; all my illness has been dispelled. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਬਾਣੀ ॥ antar baahar teree baanee | The Word of Your Bani is inside and outside as well. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪਿ ਕਥੀ ਤੈ ਆਪਿ ਵਖਾਣੀ ॥ tudh aap kathee tai aap vakhaanee | You Yourself chant it, and You Yourself speak it. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਗੁਰਿ ਕਹਿਆ ਸਭੁ ਏਕੋ ਏਕੋ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਇਗਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥ gur kahiaa sabh eko eko avar na koee hoeigaa jeeo |3| The Guru has said that He is One-All is the One. There shall never be any other. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਪੀਆ ॥ amrit ras har gur te peea | I drink in the Lord’s Ambrosial Essence from the Guru; - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਹਰਿ ਪੈਨਣੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਥੀਆ ॥ har painan naam bhojan theea | the Lord’s Name has become my clothing and food. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਨਾਮਿ ਰੰਗ ਨਾਮਿ ਚੋਜ ਤਮਾਸੇ ਨਾਉ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀਨੇ ਭੋਗਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੧੦॥੧੭॥ naam rang naam choj tamaase naau naanak keene bhogaa jeeo |4|10|17| The Name is my delight, the Name is my play and entertainment. O Nanak, I have made the Name my enjoyment. ||4||10||17|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਸਗਲ ਸੰਤਨ ਪਹਿ ਵਸਤੁ ਇਕ ਮਾਂਗਉ ॥ sagal santan peh vasat ik maangau | I beg of all the Saints: please, give me the merchandise. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਰਉ ਬਿਨੰਤੀ ਮਾਨੁ ਤਿਆਗਉ ॥ krau binantee maan tiaagau | I offer my prayers-I have forsaken my pride. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਵਾਰਿ ਵਾਰਿ ਜਾਈ ਲਖ ਵਰੀਆ ਦੇਹੁ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੀ ਧੂਰਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥ vaar vaar jaaee lakh vareea dehu santan kee dhooraa jeeo |1| I am a sacrifice, hundreds of thousands of times a sacrifice, and I pray: please, give me the dust of the feet of the Saints. ||1|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤੁਮ ਦਾਤੇ ਤੁਮ ਪੁਰਖ ਬਿਧਾਤੇ ॥ tum daate tum purakh bidhaate | You are the Giver, You are the Architect of Destiny. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤੁਮ ਸਮਰਥ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖਦਾਤੇ ॥ tum samarath sadaa sukhadaate | You are All-powerful, the Giver of Eternal Peace. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਭ ਕੋ ਤੁਮ ਹੀ ਤੇ ਵਰਸਾਵੈ ਅਉਸਰੁ ਕਰਹੁ ਹਮਾਰਾ ਪੂਰਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥ sabh ko tum hee te varasaavai aausar karahu hamaaraa pooraa jeeo |2| You bless everyone. Please bring my life to fulfillment. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਦਰਸਨਿ ਤੇਰੈ ਭਵਨ ਪੁਨੀਤਾ ॥ darasan terai bhavan puneetaa | The body-temple is sanctified by the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan, - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਆਤਮ ਗੜੁ ਬਿਖਮੁ ਤਿਨਾ ਹੀ ਜੀਤਾ ॥ aatam garr bikham tinaa hee jeetaa | and thus, the impregnable fort of the soul is conquered. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਤੁਮ ਦਾਤੇ ਤੁਮ ਪੁਰਖ ਬਿਧਾਤੇ ਤੁਧੁ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਸੂਰਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥ tum daate tum purakh bidhaate tudh jevadd avar na sooraa jeeo |3| You are the Giver, You are the Architect of Destiny. There is no other warrior as great as You. ||3|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
