ਮਃ ੩ ॥ mahalaa 3 | Third Mehl: - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਬਦਿ ਰਤੀ ਸੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਭਾਇ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥ sabad ratee sohaaganee satigur kai bhaae piaar | The happy soul-bride is attuned to the Word of the Shabad; she is in love with the True Guru. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਦਾ ਰਾਵੇ ਪਿਰੁ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਚੈ ਪ੍ਰੇਮਿ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥ sadaa raave pir aapanaa sachai prem piaar | She continually enjoys and ravishes her Beloved, with true love and affection. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਅਤਿ ਸੁਆਲਿਉ ਸੁੰਦਰੀ ਸੋਭਾਵੰਤੀ ਨਾਰਿ ॥ at suaaliau sundaree sobhaavantee naar | She is such a loveable, beautiful and noble woman. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਸੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਮੇਲੀ ਮੇਲਣਹਾਰਿ ॥੨॥ naanak naam sohaaganee melee melanahaar |2| O Nanak, through the Naam, the happy soul-bride unites with the Lord of Union. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਹਰਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਭ ਕਰਹਿ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਜਿਨਿ ਫਾਥੇ ਕਾਢਿਆ ॥ har teree sabh kareh usatat jin faathe kaadtiaa | Lord, everyone sings Your Praises. You have freed us from bondage. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਤੁਧਨੋ ਕਰਹਿ ਸਭ ਨਮਸਕਾਰੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਪਾਪੈ ਤੇ ਰਾਖਿਆ ॥ har tudhano kareh sabh namasakaar jin paapai te raakhiaa | Lord, everyone bows in reverence to You. You have saved us from our sinful ways. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਨਿਮਾਣਿਆ ਤੂੰ ਮਾਣੁ ਹਰਿ ਡਾਢੀ ਹੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਡਾਢਿਆ ॥ har nimaaniaa toon maan har ddaadtee hoon toon ddaadtiaa | Lord, You are the Honor of the dishonored. Lord, You are the Strongest of the strong. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀਆ ਮਾਰਿ ਨਿਵਾਏ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮੂੜ ਸਾਧਿਆ ॥ har ahankaareea maar nivaae manamukh moorr saadhiaa | The Lord beats down the egocentrics and corrects the foolish, self-willed manmukhs. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਾ ਦੇਇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਗਰੀਬ ਅਨਾਥਿਆ ॥੧੭॥ har bhagataa dee vaddiaaee gareeb anaathiaa |17| The Lord bestows glorious greatness on His devotees, the poor, and the lost souls. ||17|| - Guru Ramdas Ji

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਭਾਣੈ ਜੋ ਚਲੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਵਡੀ ਹੋਇ ॥ satigur kai bhaanai jo chalai tis vaddiaaee vaddee hoe | One who walks in harmony with the Will of the True Guru, obtains the greatest glory. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਉਤਮੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਮੇਟਿ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਕੋਇ ॥ har kaa naam utam man vasai mett na sakai koe | The Exalted Name of the Lord abides in his mind, and no one can take it away. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਜਿਸੁ ਆਪਣੀ ਤਿਸੁ ਕਰਮਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥ kirapaa kare jis aapanee tis karam paraapat hoe | That person, upon whom the Lord bestows His Grace, receives His Mercy. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਾਰਣੁ ਕਰਤੇ ਵਸਿ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬੂਝੈ ਕੋਇ ॥੧॥ naanak kaaran karate vas hai guramukh boojhai koe |1| O Nanak, creativity is under the control of the Creator; how rare are those who, as Gurmukh, realize this! ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਿਨੀ ਆਰਾਧਿਆ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਤਾਰ ॥ naanak har naam jinee aaraadhiaa anadin har liv taar | O Nanak, those who worship and adore the Lord’s Name night and day, vibrate the String of the Lord’s Love. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਮਾਇਆ ਬੰਦੀ ਖਸਮ ਕੀ ਤਿਨ ਅਗੈ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਕਾਰ ॥ maaeaa bandee khasam kee tin agai kamaavai kaar | Maya, the maid-servant of our Lord and Master, serves them. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਪੂਰੈ ਪੂਰਾ ਕਰਿ ਛੋਡਿਆ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਸਵਾਰਣਹਾਰ ॥ poorai pooraa kar chhoddiaa hukam savaaranahaar | The Perfect One has made them perfect; by the Hukam of His Command, they are embellished. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਜਿਨਿ ਬੁਝਿਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਮੋਖ ਦੁਆਰੁ ॥ gur parasaadee jin bujhiaa tin paaeaa mokh duaar | By Guru’s Grace, they understand Him, and they find the gate of salvation. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਨੀ ਤਿਨ ਮਾਰੇ ਜਮ ਜੰਦਾਰੁ ॥ manamukh hukam na jaananee tin maare jam jandaar | The self-willed manmukhs do not know the Lord’s Command; they are beaten down by the Messenger of Death. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਿਨੀ ਅਰਾਧਿਆ ਤਿਨੀ ਤਰਿਆ ਭਉਜਲੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥ guramukh jinee araadhiaa tinee tariaa bhaujal sansaar | But the Gurmukhs, who worship and adore the Lord, cross over the terrifying world-ocean. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਭਿ ਅਉਗਣ ਗੁਣੀ ਮਿਟਾਇਆ ਗੁਰੁ ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸਣਹਾਰੁ ॥੨॥ sabh aaugan gunee mittaaeaa gur aape bakhasanahaar |2| All their demerits are erased, and replaced with merits. The Guru Himself is their Forgiver. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਭਗਤਾ ਪਰਤੀਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਭ ਕਿਛੁ ਜਾਣਦਾ ॥ har kee bhagataa parateet har sabh kichh jaanadaa | The Lord’s devotees have faith in Him. The Lord knows everything. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਈ ਜਾਣੁ ਹਰਿ ਧਰਮੁ ਬੀਚਾਰਦਾ ॥ har jevadd naahee koee jaan har dharam beechaaradaa | No one is as great a Knower as the Lord; the Lord administers righteous justice. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਕਾੜਾ ਅੰਦੇਸਾ ਕਿਉ ਕੀਜੈ ਜਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਅਧਰਮਿ ਮਾਰਦਾ ॥ kaarraa andesaa kiau keejai jaa naahee adharam maaradaa | Why should we feel any burning anxiety, since the Lord does not punish without just cause? - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਸਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਚੁ ਨਿਆਉ ਪਾਪੀ ਨਰੁ ਹਾਰਦਾ ॥ sachaa saahib sach niaau paapee nar haaradaa | True is the Master, and True is His Justice; only the sinners are defeated. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਸਾਲਾਹਿਹੁ ਭਗਤਹੁ ਕਰ ਜੋੜਿ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤ ਜਨ ਤਾਰਦਾ ॥੧੮॥ saalaahihu bhagatahu kar jorr har bhagat jan taaradaa |18| O devotees, praise the Lord with your palms pressed together; the Lord saves His humble devotees. ||18|| - Guru Ramdas Ji

ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਮਿਲਿ ਰਹਾ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਰਖਾ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰਿ ॥ aapane preetam mil rahaa antar rakhaa ur dhaar | Oh, if only I could meet my Beloved, and keep Him enshrined deep within my heart! - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਹੇਤਿ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥ saalaahee so prabh sadaa sadaa gur kai het piaar | I praise that God forever and ever, through love and affection for the Guru. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸੁ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਮੇਲਿ ਲਏ ਸਾਈ ਸੁਹਾਗਣਿ ਨਾਰਿ ॥੧॥ naanak jis nadar kare tis mel le saaee suhaagan naar |1| O Nanak, that one upon whom He bestows His Glance of Grace is united with Him; such a person is the true soul-bride of the Lord. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇਇ ॥ gur sevaa te har paaeeai jaa kau nadar karee | Serving the Guru, the Lord is obtained, when He bestows His Glance of Grace. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਮਾਣਸ ਤੇ ਦੇਵਤੇ ਭਏ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰੇ ॥ maanas te devate bhe dhiaaeaa naam hare | They are transformed from humans into angels, meditating on the Naam, the Name of the Lord. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਅਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਤਰੇ ॥ haumai maar milaaeian gur kai sabad tare | They conquer their egotism and merge with the Lord; they are saved through the Word of the Guru’s Shabad. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਇਅਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਆਪਣੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇ ॥੨॥ naanak sehaj samaaeian har aapanee kripaa kare |2| O Nanak, they merge imperceptibly into the Lord, who has bestowed His Favor upon them. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਹਰਿ ਆਪਣੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਾਇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਵੇਖਾਲੀਅਨੁ ॥ har aapanee bhagat karaae vaddiaaee vekhaaleean | The Lord Himself inspires us to worship Him; He reveals His Glorious Greatness. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਆਪਣੀ ਆਪਿ ਕਰੇ ਪਰਤੀਤਿ ਆਪੇ ਸੇਵ ਘਾਲੀਅਨੁ ॥ aapanee aap kare parateet aape sev ghaaleean | He Himself inspires us to place our faith in Him. Thus He performs His Own Service. - Guru Ramdas Ji
