ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਹੋਆ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਹਰਿ ਸੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪੈਰੀ ਪਾਹੀ ॥ jin kau hoaa kripaal har se satigur pairee paahee | Those upon whom the Lord showers His Mercy, fall at the Feet of the True Guru. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਤਿਨ ਐਥੈ ਓਥੈ ਮੁਖ ਉਜਲੇ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਪੈਧੇ ਜਾਹੀ ॥੧੪॥ tin aithai othai mukh ujale har daragah paidhe jaahee |14| Here and hereafter, their faces are radiant; they go to the Lord’s Court in robes of honor. ||14|| - Guru Ramdas Ji

ਜੋ ਸਿਰੁ ਸਾਂਈ ਨਾ ਨਿਵੈ ਸੋ ਸਿਰੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਡਾਰਿ ॥ jo sir saanee naa nivai so sir deejai ddaar | Chop off that head which does not bow to the Lord. - Guru Angad Dev Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸੁ ਪਿੰਜਰ ਮਹਿ ਬਿਰਹਾ ਨਹੀ ਸੋ ਪਿੰਜਰੁ ਲੈ ਜਾਰਿ ॥੧॥ naanak jis pinjar meh birahaa nahee so pinjar lai jaar |1| O Nanak, that human body, in which there is no pain of separation from the Lord-take that body and burn it. ||1|| - Guru Angad Dev Ji

ਮੁੰਢਹੁ ਭੁਲੀ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਜਨਮਿ ਮੁਈਆਸੁ ॥ mundtahu bhulee naanakaa fir fir janam mueeaas | Forgetting the Primal Lord, O Nanak, people are born and die, over and over again. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਸਤੂਰੀ ਕੈ ਭੋਲੜੈ ਗੰਦੇ ਡੁੰਮਿ ਪਈਆਸੁ ॥੨॥ kasatooree kai bholarrai gande ddunm peeaas |2| Mistaking it for musk, they have fallen into the stinking pit of filth. ||2|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਸੋ ਐਸਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਜੋ ਸਭਨਾ ਉਪਰਿ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਚਲਾਏ ॥ so aisaa har naam dhiaaeeai man mere jo sabhanaa upar hukam chalaae | Meditate on that Name of the Lord, O my mind, whose Command rules over all. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਸੋ ਐਸਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੀਐ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਜੋ ਅੰਤੀ ਅਉਸਰਿ ਲਏ ਛਡਾਏ ॥ so aisaa har naam japeeai man mere jo antee aausar le chhaddaae | Chant that Name of the Lord, O my mind, which will save you at the very last moment. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਸੋ ਐਸਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੀਐ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਜੁ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਸਭ ਭੁਖ ਗਵਾਏ ॥ so aisaa har naam japeeai man mere ju man kee trisanaa sabh bhukh gavaae | Chant that Name of the Lord, O my mind, which shall drive out all hunger and desire from your mind. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਸੋ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਿਆ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਤਿਨ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਦੁਸਟ ਸਭਿ ਪੈਰੀ ਪਾਏ ॥ so guramukh naam japiaa vaddabhaagee tin nindak dusatt sabh pairee paae | Very fortunate and blessed is that Gurmukh who chants the Naam; it shall bring all slanderers and wicked enemies to fall at his feet. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਰਾਧਿ ਸਭਨਾ ਤੇ ਵਡਾ ਸਭਿ ਨਾਵੈ ਅਗੈ ਆਣਿ ਨਿਵਾਏ ॥੧੫॥ naanak naam araadh sabhanaa te vaddaa sabh naavai agai aan nivaae |15| O Nanak, worship and adore the Naam, the Greatest Name of all, before which all come and bow. ||15|| - Guru Ramdas Ji

ਵੇਸ ਕਰੇ ਕੁਰੂਪਿ ਕੁਲਖਣੀ ਮਨਿ ਖੋਟੈ ਕੂੜਿਆਰਿ ॥ ves kare kuroop kulakhanee man khottai koorriaar | She may wear good clothes, but the bride is ugly and rude; her mind is false and impure. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਪਿਰ ਕੈ ਭਾਣੈ ਨਾ ਚਲੈ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਕਰੇ ਗਾਵਾਰਿ ॥ pir kai bhaanai naa chalai hukam kare gaavaar | She does not walk in harmony with the Will of her Husband Lord. Instead, she foolishly gives Him orders. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਭਾਣੈ ਜੋ ਚਲੈ ਸਭਿ ਦੁਖ ਨਿਵਾਰਣਹਾਰਿ ॥ gur kai bhaanai jo chalai sabh dukh nivaaranahaar | But she who walks in harmony with the Guru’s Will, shall be spared all pain and suffering. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਲਿਖਿਆ ਮੇਟਿ ਨ ਸਕੀਐ ਜੋ ਧੁਰਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਕਰਤਾਰਿ ॥ likhiaa mett na sakeeai jo dhur likhiaa karataar | That destiny which was pre-ordained by the Creator cannot be erased. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਸਉਪੇ ਕੰਤ ਕਉ ਸਬਦੇ ਧਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥ man tan saupe kant kau sabade dhare piaar | She must dedicate her mind and body to her Husband Lord, and enshrine love for the Word of the Shabad. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਦੇਖਹੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਬੀਚਾਰਿ ॥ bin naavai kinai na paaeaa dekhahu ridai beechaar | Without His Name, no one has found Him; see this and reflect upon it in your heart. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾ ਸੁਆਲਿਓ ਸੁਲਖਣੀ ਜਿ ਰਾਵੀ ਸਿਰਜਨਹਾਰਿ ॥੧॥ naanak saa suaalio sulakhanee ji raavee sirajanahaar |1| O Nanak, she is beautiful and graceful; the Creator Lord ravishes and enjoys her. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਗੁਬਾਰੁ ਹੈ ਤਿਸ ਦਾ ਨ ਦਿਸੈ ਉਰਵਾਰੁ ਨ ਪਾਰੁ ॥ maaeaa mohu gubaar hai tis daa na disai uravaar na paar | Attachment to Maya is an ocean of darkness; neither this shore nor the one beyond can be seen. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਅਗਿਆਨੀ ਮਹਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਦੇ ਡੁਬੇ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿ ॥ manamukh agiaanee mahaa dukh paaeide ddube har naam visaar | The ignorant, self-willed manmukhs suffer in terrible pain; they forget the Lord’s Name and drown. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਭਲਕੇ ਉਠਿ ਬਹੁ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਵਹਿ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥ bhalake utth bahu karam kamaaveh doojai bhaae piaar | They arise in the morning and perform all sorts of rituals, but they are caught in the love of duality. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਆਪਣਾ ਭਉਜਲੁ ਉਤਰੇ ਪਾਰਿ ॥ satigur seveh aapanaa bhaujal utare paar | Those who serve the True Guru cross over the terrifying world-ocean. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਵਹਿ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਉਰ ਧਾਰਿ ॥੨॥ naanak guramukh sach samaaveh sach naam ur dhaar |2| O Nanak, the Gurmukhs keep the True Name enshrined in their hearts; they are absorbed into the True One. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਪਉੜੀ ॥ paurree | Pauree: - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹਿ ਕੋਇ ॥ har jal thal maheeal bharapoor doojaa naeh koe | The Lord pervades and permeates the water, the land and the sky; there is no other at all. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਬਹਿ ਕਰੇ ਨਿਆਉ ਕੂੜਿਆਰ ਸਭ ਮਾਰਿ ਕਢੋਇ ॥ har aap beh kare niaau koorriaar sabh maar kadtoe | The Lord Himself sits upon His Throne and administers justice. He beats and drives out the false-hearted. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਸਚਿਆਰਾ ਦੇਇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਹਰਿ ਧਰਮ ਨਿਆਉ ਕੀਓਇ ॥ sachiaaraa dee vaddiaaee har dharam niaau keeoe | The Lord bestows glorious greatness upon those who are truthful. He administers righteous justice. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਸਭ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਕਰਹੁ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਜਿਨਿ ਗਰੀਬ ਅਨਾਥ ਰਾਖਿ ਲੀਓਇ ॥ sabh har kee karahu usatat jin gareeb anaath raakh leeoe | So praise the Lord, everybody; He protects the poor and the lost souls. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਜੈਕਾਰੁ ਕੀਓ ਧਰਮੀਆ ਕਾ ਪਾਪੀ ਕਉ ਡੰਡੁ ਦੀਓਇ ॥੧੬॥ jaikaar keeo dharameea kaa paapee kau ddandd deeoe |16| He honors the righteous and punishes the sinners. ||16|| - Guru Ramdas Ji

ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮੈਲੀ ਕਾਮਣੀ ਕੁਲਖਣੀ ਕੁਨਾਰਿ ॥ manamukh mailee kaamanee kulakhanee kunaar | The self-willed manmukh, the foolish bride, is a filthy, rude and evil wife. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਪਿਰੁ ਛੋਡਿਆ ਘਰਿ ਆਪਣਾ ਪਰ ਪੁਰਖੈ ਨਾਲਿ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥ pir chhoddiaa ghar aapanaa par purakhai naal piaar | Forsaking her Husband Lord and leaving her own home, she gives her love to another. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਚੁਕਈ ਜਲਦੀ ਕਰੇ ਪੂਕਾਰ ॥ trisanaa kade na chukee jaladee kare pookaar | Her desires are never satisfied, and she burns and cries out in pain. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਕੁਰੂਪਿ ਕੁਸੋਹਣੀ ਪਰਹਰਿ ਛੋਡੀ ਭਤਾਰਿ ॥੧॥ naanak bin naavai kuroop kusohanee parahar chhoddee bhataar |1| O Nanak, without the Name, she is ugly and ungraceful. She is abandoned and left behind by her Husband Lord. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji
