ਇਹੁ ਮੋਹੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਤੇਰੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਨ ਚਾਲੈ ਝੂਠੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਗਾਈ ॥ eihu mohu maaeaa terai sang na chaalai jhootthee preet lagaaee | This emotional attachment to Maya shall not go with you; it is false to fall in love with it. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਸਗਲੀ ਰੈਣਿ ਗੁਦਰੀ ਅੰਧਿਆਰੀ ਸੇਵਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਚਾਨਣੁ ਹੋਇ ॥ sagalee rain gudaree andhiaaree sev satigur chaanan hoe | The entire night of your life has passed away in darkness; but by serving the True Guru, the Divine Light shall dawn within. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਚਉਥੈ ਪਹਰੈ ਦਿਨੁ ਨੇੜੈ ਆਇਆ ਸੋਇ ॥੪॥ kahu naanak praanee chauthai paharai din nerrai aaeaa soe |4| Says Nanak, O mortal, in the fourth watch of the night, that day is drawing near! ||4|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਲਿਖਿਆ ਆਇਆ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਕਾ ਵਣਜਾਰਿਆ ਮਿਤ੍ਰਾ ਉਠਿ ਚਲੇ ਕਮਾਣਾ ਸਾਥਿ ॥ likhiaa aaeaa govind kaa vanajaariaa mitraa utth chale kamaanaa saath | Receiving the summons from the Lord of the Universe, O my merchant friend, you must arise and depart with the actions you have committed. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਇਕ ਰਤੀ ਬਿਲਮ ਨ ਦੇਵਨੀ ਵਣਜਾਰਿਆ ਮਿਤ੍ਰਾ ਓਨੀ ਤਕੜੇ ਪਾਏ ਹਾਥ ॥ eik ratee bilam na devanee vanajaariaa mitraa onee takarre paae haath | You are not allowed a moment’s delay, O my merchant friend; the Messenger of Death seizes you with firm hands. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਲਿਖਿਆ ਆਇਆ ਪਕੜਿ ਚਲਾਇਆ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਸਦਾ ਦੁਹੇਲੇ ॥ likhiaa aaeaa pakarr chalaaeaa manamukh sadaa duhele | Receiving the summons, people are seized and dispatched. The self-willed manmukhs are miserable forever. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਜਿਨੀ ਪੂਰਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਸੇ ਦਰਗਹ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਹੇਲੇ ॥ jinee pooraa satigur seviaa se daragah sadaa suhele | But those who serve the Perfect True Guru are forever happy in the Court of the Lord. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਰਮ ਧਰਤੀ ਸਰੀਰੁ ਜੁਗ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਜੋ ਬੋਵੈ ਸੋ ਖਾਤਿ ॥ karam dharatee sareer jug antar jo bovai so khaat | The body is the field of karma in this age; whatever you plant, you shall harvest. - Guru Arjan Dev Ji
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਭਗਤ ਸੋਹਹਿ ਦਰਵਾਰੇ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਸਦਾ ਭਵਾਤਿ ॥੫॥੧॥੪॥ kahu naanak bhagat soheh daravaare manamukh sadaa bhavaat |5|1|4| Says Nanak, the devotees look beautiful in the Court of the Lord; the self-willed manmukhs wander forever in reincarnation. ||5||1||4|| - Guru Arjan Dev Ji

ਮੁੰਧ ਇਆਣੀ ਪੇਈਅੜੈ ਕਿਉ ਕਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਪਿਖੈ ॥ mundh eaanee peeearrai kiau kar har darasan pikhai | How can the ignorant soul-bride obtain the Blessed Vision of the Lord’s Darshan, while she is in this world of her father’s home? - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਅਪਨੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਾਹੁਰੜੈ ਕੰਮ ਸਿਖੈ ॥ har har apanee kirapaa kare guramukh saahurarrai kam sikhai | When the Lord Himself grants His Grace, the Gurmukh learns the duties of her Husband’s Celestial Home. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਸਾਹੁਰੜੈ ਕੰਮ ਸਿਖੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਦਾ ਧਿਆਏ ॥ saahurarrai kam sikhai guramukh har har sadaa dhiaae | The Gurmukh learns the duties of her Husband’s Celestial Home; she meditates forever on the Lord, Har, Har. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਸਹੀਆ ਵਿਚਿ ਫਿਰੈ ਸੁਹੇਲੀ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਬਾਹ ਲੁਡਾਏ ॥ saheea vich firai suhelee har daragah baah luddaae | She walks happily among her companions, and in the Lord’s Court, she swings her arms joyfully. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਲੇਖਾ ਧਰਮ ਰਾਇ ਕੀ ਬਾਕੀ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਿਰਖੈ ॥ lekhaa dharam raae kee baakee jap har har naam kirakhai | Her account is cleared by the Righteous Judge of Dharma, when she chants the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਮੁੰਧ ਇਆਣੀ ਪੇਈਅੜੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦਿਖੈ ॥੧॥ mundh eaanee peeearrai guramukh har darasan dikhai |1| The ignorant soul-bride becomes Gurmukh, and gains the Blessed Vision of the Lord’s Darshan, while she is still in her father’s house. ||1|| - Guru Ramdas Ji

ਅਗਿਆਨੁ ਅੰਧੇਰਾ ਕਟਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਪ੍ਰਚੰਡੁ ਬਲਾਇਆ ॥ agiaan andheraa kattiaa gur giaan prachandd balaaeaa | The darkness of ignorance has been dispelled. The Guru has revealed the blazing light of spiritual wisdom. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਬਲਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਅੰਧੇਰਾ ਬਿਨਸਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਰਤਨੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਲਾਧਾ ॥ baliaa gur giaan andheraa binasiaa har ratan padaarath laadhaa | This spiritual wisdom given by the Guru shines forth, and the darkness has been dispelled. I have found the Priceless Jewel of the Lord. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਉਮੈ ਰੋਗੁ ਗਇਆ ਦੁਖੁ ਲਾਥਾ ਆਪੁ ਆਪੈ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਖਾਧਾ ॥ haumai rog geaa dukh laathaa aap aapai guramat khaadhaa | The sickness of my ego has been dispelled, and my pain is over and done. Through the Guru’s Teachings, my identity has consumed my identical identity. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਅਕਾਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਵਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਨਾ ਕਦੇ ਮਰੈ ਨ ਜਾਇਆ ॥ akaal moorat var paaeaa abinaasee naa kade marai na jaaeaa | I have obtained my Husband Lord, the Akaal Moorat, the Undying Form. He is Imperishable; He shall never die, and He shall never ever leave. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਵੀਆਹੁ ਹੋਆ ਮੇਰੇ ਬਾਬੋਲਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖੇ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੨॥ veeaahu hoaa mere baabolaa guramukhe har paaeaa |2| My marriage has been performed, O my father. As Gurmukh, I have found the Lord. ||2|| - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਸਤਿ ਸਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਬਾਬੁਲਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਮਿਲਿ ਜੰਞ ਸੁਹੰਦੀ ॥ har sat sate mere baabulaa har jan mil jany suhandee | The Lord is the Truest of the True, O my father. Meeting with the humble servants of the Lord, the marriage procession looks beautiful. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਪੇਵਕੜੈ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਸੁਹੇਲੀ ਵਿਚਿ ਸਾਹੁਰੜੈ ਖਰੀ ਸੋਹੰਦੀ ॥ pevakarrai har jap suhelee vich saahurarrai kharee sohandee | She who chants the Lord’s Name is happy in this world of her father’s home, and in the next world of her Husband Lord, she shall be very beautiful. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਸਾਹੁਰੜੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਖਰੀ ਸੋਹੰਦੀ ਜਿਨਿ ਪੇਵਕੜੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲਿਆ ॥ saahurarrai vich kharee sohandee jin pevakarrai naam samaaliaa | In her Husband Lord’s Celestial Home, she shall be most beautiful, if she has remembered the Naam in this world. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਸਭੁ ਸਫਲਿਓ ਜਨਮੁ ਤਿਨਾ ਦਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਿਨਾ ਮਨੁ ਜਿਣਿ ਪਾਸਾ ਢਾਲਿਆ ॥ sabh safalio janam tinaa daa guramukh jinaa man jin paasaa dtaaliaa | Fruitful are the lives of those who, as Gurmukh, have conquered their minds-they have won the game of life. - Guru Ramdas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਮਿਲਿ ਕਾਰਜੁ ਸੋਹਿਆ ਵਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਅਨੰਦੀ ॥ har sant janaa mil kaaraj sohiaa var paaeaa purakh anandee | Joining with the humble Saints of the Lord, my actions bring prosperity, and I have obtained the Lord of Bliss as my Husband. - Guru Ramdas Ji
