ਮੁੰਧੇ ਕੂੜਿ ਮੁਠੀ ਕੂੜਿਆਰਿ ॥ mundhe koorr mutthee koorriaar | O woman, the false ones are being cheated by falsehood. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਪਿਰੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਪਾਈਐ ਗੁਰ ਬੀਚਾਰਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ pir prabh saachaa sohanaa paaeeai gur beechaar |1| rahaau | God is your Husband; He is Handsome and True. He is obtained by reflecting upon the Guru. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਕੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਛਾਣਈ ਤਿਨ ਕਿਉ ਰੈਣਿ ਵਿਹਾਇ ॥ manamukh kant na pachhaanee tin kiau rain vihaae | The self-willed manmukhs do not recognize their Husband Lord; how will they spend their life-night? - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗਰਬਿ ਅਟੀਆ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਜਲਹਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ॥ garab atteea trisanaa jaleh dukh paaveh doojai bhaae | Filled with arrogance, they burn with desire; they suffer in the pain of the love of duality. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਬਦਿ ਰਤੀਆ ਸੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਤਿਨ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਹਉਮੈ ਜਾਇ ॥ sabad rateea sohaaganee tin vichahu haumai jaae | The happy soul-brides are attuned to the Shabad; their egotism is eliminated from within. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਦਾ ਪਿਰੁ ਰਾਵਹਿ ਆਪਣਾ ਤਿਨਾ ਸੁਖੇ ਸੁਖਿ ਵਿਹਾਇ ॥੨॥ sadaa pir raaveh aapanaa tinaa sukhe sukh vihaae |2| They enjoy their Husband Lord forever, and their life-night passes in the most blissful peace. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗਿਆਨ ਵਿਹੂਣੀ ਪਿਰ ਮੁਤੀਆ ਪਿਰਮੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਇ ॥ giaan vihoonee pir muteea piram na paaeaa jaae | She is utterly lacking in spiritual wisdom; she is abandoned by her Husband Lord. She cannot obtain His Love. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਅਗਿਆਨ ਮਤੀ ਅੰਧੇਰੁ ਹੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਪਿਰ ਦੇਖੇ ਭੁਖ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥ agiaan matee andher hai bin pir dekhe bhukh na jaae | In the darkness of intellectual ignorance, she cannot see her Husband, and her hunger does not depart. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਆਵਹੁ ਮਿਲਹੁ ਸਹੇਲੀਹੋ ਮੈ ਪਿਰੁ ਦੇਹੁ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥ aavahu milahu saheleeho mai pir dehu milaae | Come and meet with me, my sister soul-brides, and unite me with my Husband. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਪਿਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੩॥ poorai bhaag satigur milai pir paaeaa sach samaae |3| She who meets the True Guru, by perfect good fortune, finds her Husband; she is absorbed in the True One. ||3|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸੇ ਸਹੀਆ ਸੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇਇ ॥ se saheea sohaaganee jin kau nadar karee | Those upon whom He casts His Glance of Grace become His happy soul-brides. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਖਸਮੁ ਪਛਾਣਹਿ ਆਪਣਾ ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਆਗੈ ਦੇਇ ॥ khasam pachhaaneh aapanaa tan man aagai dee | One who recognizes her Lord and Master places her body and mind in offering before Him. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਘਰਿ ਵਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਆਪਣਾ ਹਉਮੈ ਦੂਰਿ ਕਰੇਇ ॥ ghar var paaeaa aapanaa haumai door karee | Within her own home, she finds her Husband Lord; her egotism is dispelled. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋਭਾਵੰਤੀਆ ਸੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰੇਇ ॥੪॥੨੮॥੬੧॥ naanak sobhaavanteea sohaaganee anadin bhagat karee |4|28|61| O Nanak, the happy soul-brides are embellished and exalted; night and day they are absorbed in devotional worship. ||4||28||61|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਇਕਿ ਪਿਰੁ ਰਾਵਹਿ ਆਪਣਾ ਹਉ ਕੈ ਦਰਿ ਪੂਛਉ ਜਾਇ ॥ eik pir raaveh aapanaa hau kai dar poochhau jaae | Some enjoy their Husband Lord; unto whose door should I go to ask for Him? - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵੀ ਭਾਉ ਕਰਿ ਮੈ ਪਿਰੁ ਦੇਹੁ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥ satigur sevee bhaau kar mai pir dehu milaae | I serve my True Guru with love, that He may lead me to Union with my Husband Lord. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਭੁ ਉਪਾਏ ਆਪੇ ਵੇਖੈ ਕਿਸੁ ਨੇੜੈ ਕਿਸੁ ਦੂਰਿ ॥ sabh upaae aape vekhai kis nerrai kis door | He created all, and He Himself watches over us. Some are close to Him, and some are far away. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਜਿਨਿ ਪਿਰੁ ਸੰਗੇ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਪਿਰੁ ਰਾਵੇ ਸਦਾ ਹਦੂਰਿ ॥੧॥ jin pir sange jaaniaa pir raave sadaa hadoor |1| She who knows her Husband Lord to be always with her, enjoys His Constant Presence. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਮੁੰਧੇ ਤੂ ਚਲੁ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਭਾਇ ॥ mundhe too chal gur kai bhaae | O woman, you must walk in harmony with the Guru’s Will. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਵਹਿ ਪਿਰੁ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਹਜੇ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ anadin raaveh pir aapanaa sahaje sach samaae |1| rahaau | Night and day, you shall enjoy your Husband, and you shall intuitively merge into the True One. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸਬਦਿ ਰਤੀਆ ਸੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੀਗਾਰਿ ॥ sabad rateea sohaaganee sachai sabad seegaar | Attuned to the Shabad, the happy soul-brides are adorned with the True Word of the Shabad. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਵਰੁ ਪਾਇਨਿ ਘਰਿ ਆਪਣੈ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਹੇਤਿ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥ har var paaein ghar aapanai gur kai het piaar | Within their own home, they obtain the Lord as their Husband, with love for the Guru. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸੇਜ ਸੁਹਾਵੀ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਵੈ ਭਗਤਿ ਭਰੇ ਭੰਡਾਰ ॥ sej suhaavee har rang ravai bhagat bhare bhanddaar | Upon her beautiful and cozy bed, she enjoys the Love of her Lord. She is overflowing with the treasure of devotion. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਜਿ ਸਭਸੈ ਦੇਇ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥੨॥ so prabh preetam man vasai ji sabhasai dee adhaar |2| That Beloved God abides in her mind; He gives His Support to all. ||2|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਪਿਰੁ ਸਾਲਾਹਨਿ ਆਪਣਾ ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਹਉ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ਜਾਉ ॥ pir saalaahan aapanaa tin kai hau sad balihaarai jaau | I am forever a sacrifice to those who praise their Husband Lord. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਅਰਪੀ ਸਿਰੁ ਦੇਈ ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਲਾਗਾ ਪਾਇ ॥ man tan arapee sir deee tin kai laagaa paae | I dedicate my mind and body to them, and give my head as well; I fall at their feet. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਜਿਨੀ ਇਕੁ ਪਛਾਣਿਆ ਦੂਜਾ ਭਾਉ ਚੁਕਾਇ ॥ jinee ik pachhaaniaa doojaa bhaau chukaae | Those who recognize the One renounce the love of duality. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਛਾਣੀਐ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੩॥੨੯॥੬੨॥ guramukh naam pachhaaneeai naanak sach samaae |3|29|62| The Gurmukh recognizes the Naam, O Nanak, and is absorbed into the True One. ||3||29||62|| - Guru Amardas Ji

ਲਖ ਚਉਰਾਸੀਹ ਤਰਸਦੇ ਫਿਰੇ ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਭੇਟੇ ਪੀਰੈ ॥ lakh chauraaseeh tarasade fire bin gur bhette peerai | The 8.4 million species of beings wander around searching for You, but without the Guru, they do not find You. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਬਖਸੇ ਬਖਸਿ ਲਏ ਸੂਖ ਸਦਾ ਸਰੀਰੈ ॥ har jeeo bakhase bakhas le sookh sadaa sareerai | When the Dear Lord grants His Forgiveness, this human body finds lasting peace. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਸੇਵ ਕਰੀ ਸਚੁ ਗਹਿਰ ਗੰਭੀਰੈ ॥੧॥ gur parasaadee sev karee sach gahir ganbheerai |1| By Guru’s Grace, I serve the True One, who is Immeasurably Deep and Profound. ||1|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥ man mere naam rate sukh hoe | O my mind, attuned to the Naam, you shall find peace. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਲਾਹੀਐ ਦੂਜਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ guramatee naam salaaheeai doojaa avar na koe |1| rahaau | Follow the Guru’s Teachings, and praise the Naam; there is no other at all. ||1||Pause|| - Guru Amardas Ji
ਧਰਮ ਰਾਇ ਨੋ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਹੈ ਬਹਿ ਸਚਾ ਧਰਮੁ ਬੀਚਾਰਿ ॥ dharam raae no hukam hai beh sachaa dharam beechaar | The Righteous Judge of Dharma, by the Hukam of God’s Command, sits and administers True Justice. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਦੁਸਟੁ ਆਤਮਾ ਓਹੁ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਕਾਰ ॥ doojai bhaae dusatt aatamaa ohu teree sarakaar | Those evil souls, ensnared by the love of duality, are subject to Your Command. - Guru Amardas Ji
ਅਧਿਆਤਮੀ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਤਾਸੁ ਮਨਿ ਜਪਹਿ ਏਕੁ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ ॥ adhiaatamee har gun taas man japeh ek muraar | The souls on their spiritual journey chant and meditate within their minds on the One Lord, the Treasure of Excellence. - Guru Amardas Ji
